So we are 10 days into the new year. 2018 is a thing of the past and I have been in heavy reflection. That’s honestly why i have posted my usual 2 posts a week. I really wanted to plan out some things for where i want this blog to go. Plus I have a life when I’m not behind this keyboard clicking away. I promise I do. In my time of reflection I came up with 3 goals that I want to achieve this year.
Start My Youtube Channel
Let me be honest with you, I have had my YouTube channel for almost 8 years. YouTube was something that I have always loved the idea of but its a lot of work. I had to learn how to edit videos, record content without making myself look crazy, the whole nine. I have a couple of videos that are uploaded but they don’t have a lot of views. Most of the videos are Periscope videos I recorded and they backed up to my channel. I am planning to go through them and remove the ones that I did not really talk about anything on. I am also going to go through and rename some of them so that they are more searchable. I do want to eventually get me a camera but until then ill be using this good iPhone and a ring light.
Create Multiple Streams of Income
So at the end of last year, I lost my job. To be honest I wasn’t upset because it was probably one of the worse jobs I’ve had. Not the actual job itself, just everything that came with the job: the management, the people, the environment. I was not a fan. Even though I was searching for a new job I really planned on working this one until I found another one, but God had other plans. This experience had reminded me how important it is for me to have multiple streams of income. I can honestly say that God has provided in these last couple of weeks. Like he really looked out but I need to get on the game….. There’s work to be done. Im trying to secure as many bags as possible all 2019!!
Improve My Time Management Skills
In my reflection I realized that I am a procrastinator. I am always putting things off til the last minuet, which is something that i need to work on like yesterday. In order to accomplish this I am going to use my calendar more. I also brought a planner which I will be putting to use ASAP. Since I am a visual learner I have color coded things on my calendar by importance. I really just need to stay motivated and stick to my schedule and I’ll be able to be more productive this year.
What are some goals that you have for 2019? Let me know in the comments. I appreciate y’all so much. Make sure that you like, comment, and subscribe. Ill talk to ya’ll in my next post….. Be Blessed

Ok! So as promised I was finally able to get my hands on the Wet Line Xtreme Gel to review for you all. I’m not going to lie to you, it wasn’t easy. Most places were sold out! Luckily my local Wal-Mart had one remaining on the shelf that I snatched up. After seeing so many YouTube influencers raving about it, I was really curious to see how it would hold up in my hair.
So if you read any of my other wash and go reviews you already know that I like to apply my products on dripping wet hair. I had a event at my church that I wanted my hair to be fresh for so I really trying to take my time and get this wash and go as popping as possible. I almost wanted to use my ECO Style gel because I kind of knew how that would come out. you can read the review I need on the newest Eco Style Gel ( Cannabis and Sativa Oil) to see how I felt about that one. I started applying the Wet Line Xtreme with the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and the 2 products were not mixing at all. I was like “Nope!!” I’m going to have to do use something else. I ended up changing my leave in to the Camilla Rose Naturals Coconut Water Leave in Treatment. Camilla Rose worked a lot better but I’m interested to see what other leave in are good with this gel.
What I Loved
What I loved most about this gel was the price!! I got this gel for about $3.00 at Walmart. I was going to purchase it from Amazon but it was out of stock at the time. The had a 2 pack available for like 5.00 but I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it so I didn’t want to purchase two of them. Another thing that I really loved about the Wet Line X-treme gel is how it weighs my hair down. Any time a gel weighs my hair down I know my curls are going to pop. After my hair dried I liked how stretched my hair ended up being. I didn’t get as much strinkage as I normally do with a Eco Style Gel.
What I Hated
So to be honest there really wasn’t a lot that I hated about this gel overall. I will say that after drying my hair it was X-tremely hard ( Lol). Really though I was nervous that my hair was going to break off. A lot people said that it was due to the protein in the gel but I’m not protein sensitive. My high porosity hair will take as much protein as she can get. Another thing that I really was not a fan of was my hair flaking after about day 3. I’m not entirely sure if the flaking was due to the leaving that I used or the actual gel its self so I will be trying this gel out again just to make sure, The Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie is probably to blame though. It could also be that I used too much product. I know that I can be a little heavy handed.
So my final thoughts on the gel is that it was overall pretty good. I really enjoyed my wash and go overall and I will get trying it again. I think I just have to find a leave in that works well in my hair and with the Wet Line X-treme gel and then I will be successful. I am also going to try the gel again without a leave in as I did wit the Eco Style to see if that make a difference. I really hope that you enjoy these reviews and if there is a product you would like to me to try out make sure to comment below or shoot me an Email. Also make sure you are following me on all social media playforms so that you never miss post.
I just celebrated 9 years since I had decided to go natural. I will say that during that time I have learned a lot about my hair. My curls have flourished and my hair is the longest that it’s ever been. But with that being said I don’t always follow the common rules ya’ll like to establish for natural hair. Now before you all go and start judging me let me make this clear, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL!!! I just like to do what works for me, and as a result, my curls are popping and my edges are intact. Here are some rules I donot follow and the reasons why…
I’m Colored Treated.
I actually started exploring with hair color long before I became natural. I don’t want to hear that coloring my hair doesn’t make me less of a natural. Save it. There are such things as a color treated naturals. Honestly, I’ve had color in my hair for so long; I don’t feel right with dark hair. I tried it and I was not a fan. Now I will say that because I have been coloring my hair for so long I don’t always seek a professional before coloring. I recommend that if you are new to color that you seek someone who knows what they are doing. Especially if you want hair color that is going to last you want to keep your hair from being damaged in the process.
Sulfates are my Friend
I honestly don’t mind some sulfate shampoos for my hair. I know that they are not ideal but sometimes I need that squeaky clean hair. Sulfates do tend to strip your hair of their natural oils so I recommend if you are going to use a sulfate shampoo that you deep condition. Add as much moisture back in your hair as possible. I have not noticed any damage or dryness from using sulfates on my hair but at the end of the day, you do what’s best for you. I use shampoos based on how they make my hair feel during and after shampooing. I even went some time just using sulfate free shampoos and honestly, I didn’t really see too much of a difference in my hair.
I haven’t canceled Eco Style Gel
You all can cancel eco all you want but she works wonders for my curls so she is not going anywhere. Period…Point…Blank!!! I know that a lot of YouTubers have been complaining about the ingredients of the Eco Styler Gel but I have not had any problems and I have been using it since the beginning of my hair journey. Now, with that being said, I have found some other gels that work great for my hair as well. I have made flaxseed gel that did great as well as Aloe Vera Gel too. Both these natural gels have given me great results but Eco is way more convenient. I recently tried the Wetline Xtreme Gel on my hair, that’s the new gel people are raving about and I’ll do a full review coming up in a few days. My favorite Eco Style Gel right now is between the Cannabis and Sativa Oil and the Flaxseed and Black Castor Oil Gels. I have a review on the Cannabis and Sativa Oil Gel that you can look at here.
I only wear Wash and Go’s
I don’t have a lot of explaining about this one but my hair only likes Wash and Go’s. I didn’t a whole article on this…. You can check that out here. I have tried twist outs and braid outs but my hair always ends up being frizzy. I really just need to find the right products for my hair that will provide me with the results I need but until then I’ll be washing and going out this door. (After I diffuse my hair of course) Yes, that’s right I purchased a diffuser a few weeks ago. I’m still learning how to perfect using it but you know once I do that I’ll come to you all with a review.
I’m not afraid of heat
Every natural is concerned with getting heat damage after straightening. I used to saythat I wasn’t concerned that I will get heat damage because I don’t straightenmy hair often. That is until I straightened my hair and got some heat damage inthe front. I only put heat on my hair two to three times a year. Now, I will warn you, you have to do what is best for your hair. When I straighten my hair I use a heat protectant and I try to get it as straight as possible. I don’ttouch up my hair after the initial flat iron session. Even though I followed this I still got some heat damage it wasn’t as bad as it could have been and I was able to bring my back in order. I know what I did wrong and I know thatit’s a risk that you take.
**I still have my giveaway going on all you have to do is follow me on social media. Subscribe to my blog, and comment below a product or hairstyle you think I should try. **
I have been trying my hand at some DIY products this year. I spend so much money on hair products I figured it would be a great way to save some money. This post is going to be all about DIY homemade products I have tried in the past year. What worked and what I was not a fan of. I will say that most, if not all these products can be found on Amazon. I will also place my **affiliate links** below for what I am able to find.
Okay so if you follow the natural hair community you know there are 2 gels that are all the rave right now, Eco Style Cannabis Sativa Oil and Wetline Xtreme. I have purchased both of these and plan on doing a review for you all. I’m starting off with the Eco Style Gel.
I watched a couple of reviews on this product when it first came out but I wanted to wait for the price to come down a little bit before I spent my money. On the Eco website, it’s a whole $18.00 I refuse to pay that amount for some Eco so I decided to wait to see how much it would be in stores. I happened to be in the hair store looking for the Wetline Xtreme gel and stumbled across the large tub of gel for 12.99. The smaller ones were sold out so I got the big one and prayed that I liked it otherwise I was going to be really mad. I also found some other Eco Style Gels that I didn’t know existed so I will come back with some other reviews once they have the smaller ones in stock.
I was excited to try a new product especially after my previously failed twist out I talked about in my previous post. You can check that our here. I rushed home to wash my hair. I did a quick co-wash using my Deva Curl Decadence products. Once I washed my hair I split my hair into four sections. I don’t use any combs for this just my fingers. I applied the gel to hair one section at a time. I didn’t use a leave in because based on the reviews this gel and most leave in’s don’t mix. I’m not going to lie to you I was nervous I because I always use a leave-in on my hair.
The application of this gel was AMAZING. The slip was great and it felt really moisturizing on my hair. My curl definition was another plus. I love for a product to weigh my hair down, that’s how I know my curls are going to pop and this gel did just that. After applying the gel to my entire head and laying my edges I pulled out my brand new diffuser. (I finally purchased one) Once my hair was completely dry I just tied it up and went to sleep. My hair was a little stiff which I don’t mine for the first day. When I woke up the next morning I applied some oil on my hands and ran it through my hair to break the gel cast and went out the door.
As I am writing this post my hair is currently on day 3. It still looks really good. At night I just do a puff and apply my satin scarf. I haven’t applied any more oils but I do mist a little bit of water on it in the mornings. Not to wet my hair down but just enough to style my hair how I want it. My hair is still really soft and has a lot of movement. That’s another star for Eco in my book.
There were only 3 things that I could find that I didn’t like about this gel. To me, they weren’t deal breakers but something I would want you to be aware of before going out and spending your money. The first thing is the smell. The gel doesn’t smell like weed, but it does have an herbal, almost earthy scent to it. The smell didn’t bother me too much but I know some people have sensitive noses so I figured I’d let you know. The smell does go away once the gel dries as well so you won’t be walking around smelling herbal or anything. The second thing I was not feeling about this gel is that it doesn’t mix with a lot of leave in’s. I know that Eco makes a leave in with this line which I sure mix well but still. That is probably one thing that I have been dealing with no matter what eco I use though. Finally, the last thing I think can be improved is the price. I am a loyal Eco Style fan but if there are other gels out there like Wetline Xtreme and are $2.00 to $3.00, I know ya’ll can come down on this price a little bit. Ya’ll know better. But those are my thoughts on the newest Eco. Have you tried it before? If so shoot me a comment below letting me know how you felt about it.
Also, I am still running a giveaway for the Eco Style Cannabis and Sativa Oil…. That’s right you can win one to try out. All you have to do is follow me on social media and comment below telling me a product you want me to try that you want to try for yourself. It’s that easy. It’s not all about celebrity gossip, but it’s about my life helping someone else’s life. Let metake you to last year when I killed myself to save my marriage.
I tried to do a twist out for ya’ll I promise I did. It was a FAIL. I really wish I took pictures of it before I threw this hair in a bun so you could see this mess. So this post is going to talk about my whole experience.
So to be honest I hadn’t washed my hair in about 2 weeks. Before you go judging me please know I don’t own a diffuser as of this moment. So when I wash my hair and style it in a wash and go, I normally just leave out the house with my hair wet or goes to sleep with wet hair. Neither of those are good for your hair or your health. Walking out the door with wet hair makes you more susceptible to getting sick. Going to sleep with wet hair isn’t much better because I’ll be soaking up my satin pillowcase all night and my hair is still going to be wet when I wake up. So figured I would wash my hair on Saturday afternoon and twist it up and it would be dry by Sunday morning. I did my whole wash and deep condition routine in the shower. Got out and twisted my hair using a cream and some Eco Style Gel, laid my edges and tied my hair up. I put about 15 twists in my hair. (That’s an estimate I didn’t really count) I tried to coil the ends around my finger and that where the issues began.
My hair texture
So based on these hair texture charts that are out here I’m between a 3C, 4A. I really don’t believe in those charts because for one…. My hair has so many textures in it, it’s impossible to put me in one category. I know that a lot of you all feel the same way. Secondly, I feel that the chart could really lower someone’s self-esteem about their hair. You look at the chats and start comparing your hair to what you believe is the ideal texture. Naw sis, there is nothing wrong with the texture God gave you. You got to learn how to master your hair. I have really curly hair. It’s thick but really soft. My texture in the front of my hair is a lot looser than in the back. And my ends are straighter in the front. When you see my dad’s hair you will understand why. My dad’s hair is curly, but he has random straight pieces too. It’s really strange. I also believe that I may have gotten some heat damage in the front of my hair from straightening it but I’m not sure. It’s hard to tell because of how the front of my hair always acts on a daily basis. I was nervous after I put all the twist in my hair because the hair in the front wouldn’t coil in the front like I wanted it to and I didn’t have any perm rods to help it along.
I used the same leave in that I normally use for my wash and goes too as well as the Gold Eco Style Gel. I felt like my hair was really moisturized but I probably should have used something with a stronger hold to ensure that my twist would survive the night. Once my hair was tied up I and secured I went to bed on my satin pillowcase. About 8 hours later I woke up to my hair being about 70% dry. I had to be at church at 9 am so I got dressed and attempted to blow dry my hair as much as I could. I made an executive decision that I was not going to unravel them that morning. I tried to style them as best as I could but ended up just slicking the middle part down with my edged and throwing my twist in a bun. I went to church just like that. I was over it. Like really over it. Throughout the day I got so many compliments on my bun. I would be like this was supposed to be a twist out. Cute style coming… so I thought
The Take Down
So Monday morning I finally decided to take these twists down. I literally prayed the whole time because I had to be at work and didn’t want to be late messing around with my hair. I took down the twist one at a time and separated them. Now some of the came out really cute, others were frizzy, a few were just okay. I didn’t really have time to try and salvage the frizzy ones so I just did a top knot bun and went work. The next day, I took my hair down to add some moisture and see what I could do to salvage my hair. It was cold outside so I really didn’t want to leave the house with wet hair. I ended up spraying some water on my hair and adding some more Eco Style Gel to my hair to tame some of the frizz. After doing that I did a half up half down with a bun. That was the only way I would be able to get some kind of wear out of this style.
Things I will do next time
So I decided to write about this failed style to show you all that you even though I have been natural for a long time, I still have setbacks and struggles. Next time I try a twist out I plan on using some heavier products. I also plan on giving my hair more time to air dry before taking down my hair. Lastly, I finally purchased a diffuser for my hair. I am going to learn how to use this thing and I will, of course, come back and tell you all about it.

Man, Its December already. 2018 has come and gone already. Every time at the end of the year I like to do a self-evaluation. This most will be some things that I want to improve on not even for the upcoming year but for my life in general. Some of these I have already started. I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions but these will be lifestyle changes and goals that I plan on meeting.
So I really have 3 main nutritional goals that I have been working on. The first one is drinking more water. I went from drinking maybe a bottle a day to drinking about a half of gallon. My goal is to drink a full gallon of water every day. Another goal I have is to eat better. I have thought about doing Keto, but I’m not sure. I have also started cooking more. I love to cook I just really didn’t make the time to do so. I will be taking my weekends to meal prep and cook for the whole week. Lastly, I plan on being more active. I always get these spirts where I’m consistently going to the gym. Then I get lazy. I have a whole gym in my apartment complex so there is really no reason why I can’t go to the gym. I have also talked about some of my hair goals for the next 12 months in my growth challenge blog. I know that all of these things will push help me reach that goal as well.
Another thing that I want to work on is Self-Love. I don’t want you to think that I am going around hating the way that I look or anything, it’s deeper than that. I want to be able to see myself the way that God sees me and also I want to be the best me I can be. Sometimes we get so busy in the day to day that we forget about ourselves. I just want to do more things that align with my purpose so I’ll be writing a lot more as well as reading more books. These are things that I really enjoy doing that I really don’t get a change to do because I’ve felt too tired or too busy. Also, on a more personal level, I want to overall be a more positive thinker. I always think the worst situation out of the smallest things. There’s nothing wrong with seeing all of the possibilities but that anxiety of something always going wrong can keep me up at night and I don’t want that to happen. I’m reclaiming my time and my sleep in 2019. Lastly, I would love to find a Christian Therapist in my area. I am an advocate for therapy. Listen we go the doctor for check-ups on our bodies but we need to get check-ups on our minds too. You don’t have to have mental illness to see someone, that’s another misconception about therapy. Don’t worry I will be doing a whole blog post on this soon. Stay tuned.
I saved the best and most important one for me for last. I really feel like I can improve on these other things unless I improve my spiritual walk and discipline. I plan to stay in my word, as well as increasing my prayer life. I plan to continue to grow in my walk and share my testimony with others. I really have been working on this since about October, there’s always deeper that you can go. I really believe that by started with these things its will help keep me on track for the other goals I have.
If this had gotten your wheels turning about some things that you want to start working on going into this new year, I recommend you start today!! There’s no need in a new year’s resolution anyway. People don’t keep them. For example, you will start out in January saying that you want to go to the gym. The gym will be packed to capacity for the month of January, then a ghost town in February. Don’t be that person. Set some obtainable goals and let’s get to work!!! I love ya’ll see you all in my next post!
Have you ever been attacked by a bird? Well, I have. Don’t laugh I know you are reading this laughing right now. But I am going to tell you how this happened. This is a new segment that I am starting on my Blog. I have some crazy stories and I want to share them with you so let me introduce you to story time with Bree. Here we go….
Let me preface this by saying that I worked at KD for almost 3 years, it was my first job. I always saw animals that were way closer to me than I would like. I was inches away from an all-white skunk; a raccoon ran over my foot in the store under the volcano, and then this bird situation. The bird was the most traumatizing to me. I stopped working there when I was about 17 and I was about 19 when this whole situation occurred. I remember it like it was yesterday. Growing up by Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA, my family always got season passes. Even after I stopped working there I got a season pass because it just made sense for the amount of time we spend there. I was there with some of my family members and Saturday. We were having a great time. We stopped to get some food at the corndog spot. After we got our food we went over to get some condiments and the next thing I know this bird was flying over me. I didn’t really pay it any attention because I was focused on getting my food set up so I could enjoy it. Then I feel something pecking at my ponytail. I took my free hand swatted at my hair because I’m thinking it’s a big or something. No, I smacked a whole bird off of me. So I guess the bird was not satisfied because he flew back at me and starting flapping at my neck. I never screamed so loud or ran so fast. Corndog still in hand because that thing was not cheap. People were just looking at me shocked, my family member is screaming too at this point even though after the fact they thought it was funny. As you know I did not. I still remember the feeling the bird’s wings flapping at my neck. I dream about it to this day and steer clear of birds by any means necessary.
