Adam Housley, who reported from the area in 2011 following the catastrophic triple-meltdown, said this morning that new fuel leaks have been discovered.
He said the radiation levels – as high as 530 sieverts per hour – are now the highest they’ve been since 2011 when a tsunami hit the coastal reactor.
“To put this in very simple terms. Four sieverts can kill a handful of people,” he explained.
He said that critics, including the U.S. military in 2011, have long questioned whether Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) and officials have been providing accurate information on the severity of the radiation.
TEPCO maintains that the radiation is confined to the site and not a risk to the public. It’s expected to take at least $300 billion and four decades to fix it.
Housley said small levels of radiation are still being detected off the coasts of California and Oregon and scientists fear it could get worse.
“The worry is with 300 tons of radioactive water going into the Pacific every day, what is that doing to the Pacific Ocean?” said Housley.
He added that critics are now questioning whether the radiation has been this severe all along.
Fukushima Update: Facts They Are Not Telling Us - YouTube
We first want to thank Fox News for FINALLY reporting on a subject that has been highly censored by the mainstream media for the past 5+ years, the situation in Fukushima, Japan is completely out of control.
While Fox News recently reported that radiation levels at Fukushima were now at ‘unimaginable levels’ more than 5 years after the disastrous earthquake and tsunami struck, as Steve Quayle asked in an SQNote he left while linking to that story, why has the mainstream media been silent all of this time?
We’ve long believed that ‘reality’ has a way of ‘awakening’ everybody and the stories recently coming across the wire over at ENENews have been mind-numbing the last few weeks to say the least.
You can hear the Fox News report on Fukushima in the 1st video below while in the 2nd video, Mike Adams over at Natural News gives us a new update on the ‘Fukushima radiation apocalypse’ that has been steadily spewing poisons into our atmosphere for almost 6 years now with hardly a peep from the MSM.
In the most recent stories from ENENews, on February 5th they reported the heartbreaking news that a record high number of whale deaths had recently been reported surrounding the Hawaiian Islands with the sick and starving animals allegedly a ‘mystery’ to experts.
Reporting that rotting carcasses were scattered throughout the islands, how can so-called experts NOT know that Fukushima poisons flowing into our oceans for years are most likely to blame?
As Adams tells us in his video, the sustainability of all life throughout the Northern hemisphere is in danger and the entire MSM up until now has been in a complete blackout mode except for this recent reports.
Do CNN, MSNBC and the rest of them think that if they DON’T report upon Fukushima, what’s happening to the fish and our oceans is ‘fake news’?
Do they think that because we can’t actually SEE the radiation, it’s not really there?
The MSM’s failure to report upon Fukushima may be the final straw that not only breaks the camel’s back but puts that camel out of our misery.
For the past several years, we’ve reported horror story after horror story of sea life dying all across the Pacific Ocean and up and down the entire West coast, from Alaska to California.
Also documented in great detail over the past several years by ENENews, with mass animal deaths all across the world being kept track of by End Times Prophecy, it’s clear that the mainstream media has completely failed the American public on Fukushima.
Another recent story over at ENENews reports on Fox News’ sudden admission that Fukushima is out of control, highlighting a few phrases used by Fox in their report that shows just how completely out of touch the MSM has been with reality over the past 5+ years.
The Media Can No Longer Hide the Truth About Fukushima — the Entire World is in Danger - YouTube
On the second anniversary of the Fukushima disaster, an international panel of leading medical and biological scientists, nuclear engineers, and policy experts assembled at the prestigious New York Academy of Medicine. A project of the Helen Caldicott Foundation and co-sponsored by Physicians for Social Responsibility, this gathering was a response to widespread concerns that the media and policy makers had been far too eager to move past what are clearly deep and lasting impacts for the Japanese people and for the world. This was the first comprehensive attempt to address the health and environmental damage done by one of the worst nuclear accidents of our times.
Helen Caldicott takes an unprecedented look into the profound aftereffects of Fukushima.and In accessible terms weighs in on the current state of knowledge of radiation-related health risks in Japan, impacts on the world’s oceans, the question of low-dosage radiation risks, crucial comparisons with Chernobyl, health and environmental impacts on the United States (including on food and newborns), and the unavoidable implications for the U.S. nuclear energy industry.
FDA Refuses to Test Fish for Radioactivity … Government Pretends Radioactive Fish Is Safe. The FDA says it won’t monitor radiation in fish on the West Coast of the U.S.The FDA said North Pacific fish are so unlikely to be contaminated by radioactive material from the crippled nuclear plant in Japan that there’s no reason to test them, state and federal officials said this week.
DeLancey, the FDA spokeswoman, said “We have not been doing any testing. We’ve been working with NOAA to keep an eye on U.S. waters, to see if there is any cause for alarm, and we do have the capability to begin testing if that does occur.”
Asked to explain what kind of monitoring was taking place in the ocean, DeLancey said, “You would have to talk directly to NOAA … I don’t really want to speak for another agency.”
But NOAA fisheries spokeswoman Kate Naughton declined to answer questions and referred a reporter back to DeLancey and the EPA.
DeLancey said that so far, there’s no reason for concern about Fukushima. The radioactive materials in the water near Fukushima quickly become diluted in the massive volume of the Pacific, she said. Additionally, radioactive fallout that lands on the surface tends to stay there, giving the most unstable ones isotopes like iodine time to decay before reaching fish, she said.
Of course, radioactive isotopes like cesium 137 are very long-lived, and so won’t necessarily decay before they reach fish.
And – in typical Orwellian agency-speak – the FDA is trying to reassure people that eating contaminated fish poses no health risk.
Radiation exposure has significant health risk which includes fatigue, a weakened immune system, tumors, unexplained illnesses, anemia, cancer and birth defects in newborns. Radiation can be removed from your body effectively and completely through natural methods.
Protective and Detoxifying Herbs
Cilantro (has been shown to remove heavy metals from the blood stream)
One thing you can do, right now, to save a big bunch of cilantro is make a pesto out of it. There are a couple of recipes at the link, but this is my favorite pesto recipe EVER. It uses garlic and pumpkin seeds, which are two radically healthy ingredients, too. And delicious.
Best part? Make a few batches of it and freeze the excess. It’ll keep for months and months in the freezer.
In fact, this headline states Rosemary Found to Offer Best Protection Against Radiation Poisoning. That speaks loudly enough, don’t you think? In addition to eating the herb fresh or dried (and cooked into dishes), you can also find rosemary extract or tincture in just about any natural health food store.
Both of these herbs are cited on the NIH.gov site (surprise!) as excellent protection and treatment for radiation. There are several other plants listed in this compilation of studies, but I didn’t want to overwhelm. Here’s the link to the studies if you want to read more. The actual name of the paper is: Radioprotective Potential of Plants and Herbs against the Effects of Ionizing Radiation.
This plant has excellent detox abilities, in that it’s very effective at whisking away free radicals. But it’s also great for your liver and keeps it functioning properly, which is what you want in order to eliminate any toxins that might be in your body.
You can pick fresh dandelion and eat them in salads, but if you’re concerned about radiation, this may not be the best option. (As the radioactive particles would have fallen on the plants, as well.) Check your natural health food store for dandelion root to make a tea with, dandelion tincture, or even dandelion greens in the produce section.
Other Natural Treatments for Radiation Exposure
Not only can you bathe in this to help pull toxins from your skin. Bentonite clay, for example, is used by Russian nuclear workers (slathered on their skin) before working with nuclear material.
It’s been difficult to find any kind of recommendation on how much clay to take at a time, but I did find one commenter say she takes 1 tsp a day with good effect.
One of the main ingredients in miso soup is kelp, but it also includes mushrooms (which have their own health benefits, as well). You can buy dried miso at stores like Whole Foods and snack on the soup for months.
To be honest, this one’s a bit of conjecture on my part. But boron (which is in borax) is used for radiation shielding on an industrial level. If you’re particularly concerned about radiation entering through the skin, take a bath with 1/8 c. borax mixed in the water. It’s actually a fantastic skin softener, so you’re not hurting anything. Let yourself air dry, as to not wipe off all the borax.
Here’s more about boron, borax, and radiation protection. It appears you can also take borax internally, but I’m a little wary on that one.
According to another Natural News article, both apples and sunflower seeds contain a pectin that’s adept at cleansing the body from residual radiation. (They also mention that the glucosides in buckwheat add protective measures against radiation if eaten before exposure.)
Activated charcoal, taken internally, removes toxins and poisons from the body. In fact, it’s kept in nearly all emergency rooms at this point to help mitigate the effects of poisoning. According to WebMD, there is also some scientific evidence that it lowers cholesterol. Here’s more on how to take activated charcoal internally.
I actually just bought a giant bag of activated charcoal last month, which I ordered from More Than Alive, but it’s also available at most natural food stores. Please note, activated charcoal and charcoal briquettes are two vastly different things. Please do not eat your barbecue charcoal.
Final Thoughts on Radiation Exposure
We’re exposed to radiation every day, via the sun. There’s really no escaping it. However, the vast majority of the information I’ve gathered above will help with that, too.
One last thing that’s made me feel exceptionally good is having a decent water filter. If you have the extra cash, I really would recommend getting a Berkey. Not only do I feel secure knowing my water filter is very adept at cleaning out toxins and bacteria and the like, but I also picked up (for free) the fluoride filter for it.
No Harmful Chemicals In or On Your Food
A huge part of self reliance is the ability to provide your own food. Hunt your meat… forage for food… and grow a garden! You won’t have any need to go back to the grocery store if you learn to grow what you eat. But if you’re still wondering why you should grow your own food, keep reading! No Harmful Chemicals In or On Your Food
Along with most of my homesteading and self-reliant friends, I consider myself an “organic” gardener. That means I don’t use any chemicals to control pests and diseases on my plants. Instead, I focus on soil-building techniques to build healthy garden soil that will naturally develop its own “immune system” to ward off most diseases and pests. Since there are no chemicals being used on our plants, the soil isn’t soaking up any chemicals to be absorbed by the roots and fed to the crops themselves. This means less of a chance of our food actually harming us in the long run, and more of a chance that they’ll taste the way God intended them to taste!
Save Money Growing Your Own Food If you’re a frugal shopper like my wife and I, you will have noticed food prices steadily going up for a long time. Some are drastic increases due to a shortage of that crop, while others are slowly but surely being hiked along with fuel prices of the trucks that haul produce to the grocery stores and supermarkets. In order to combat the price hike, grow your own! Even if the prices weren’t going up, you’re still going going to be saving money in the long run. Grow your own, and you won’t have to buy it from the supermarket.
Today is your chance to be part of saving our ancestors’ lost ways. I wanted to make this information available to every family out there without having to spend years of their lives or thousands of dollars.
So I came up with this great idea to edit all my manuscripts and to turn all this lost knowledge into one of the greatest books of this century:
If you haven’t seen this yet you’ve GOT to. This guy was on the ground in Texas helping with the disaster relief and what he has to say here is just WOW…. It made me cry. I mean I know FEMA is killing ppl. But to have it relayed first-hand like this makes it so much more real. The govt is shutting down roads, locking rescuers out and then blowing up damns to kill whole towns of ppl which they’ve locked in. They’re also doing this to wash all of the bullet riddled bodies out to sea. There are THOUSANDS of them according to eyes on the ground.
He says that the ppl who are getting on the FEMA prison ship/barges are being turned into fish food. Notice how we haven’t seen one single social media post from ANYONE in these FEMA “relief camps”? Why is that you think?
This guy relays a story about how about 1500 Texans at (I think he said who were taking shelter at George Mason high school?) refused to get on the FEMA aircraft carriers because it had been discovered that once these aircraft carriers left, they weren’t making their destinations. The Texans at the George Mason high school where this was going on almost started to riot because of it…and because of the way they were being treated.
This man’s story is incredible. His entire team of rescuers were brought into the TX area by a state official right before they broke one of the dams there. They were basically brought in there and left to die but this man’s fast thinking and survival skills made certain he actually set up an outpost on dry ground…and he got some calls out and began getting hundreds of armed militia members and three percenters in there under the guise of “dropping supplies”…but each trip they made he was actually using these trips to drop 3-4 heavily armed patriots (each time) in these areas to protect Texans. He believes he stopped the gun confiscation they were preparing to do…and also the murder of thousands more ppl. He got over 1,000 heavily armed patriots into these areas to protect Texans. This man is a straight hero. You can see how emotional he gets during certain parts of this story… You can tell he’s re-living these moments as he’s telling them…and it’s obvious he witnessed and knows much more than he’s telling… The look of disbelief and sickness on his face….as if he can hardly believe what it is he saw and what he now knows… You can tell he’s having a really hard time processing it all.
These govt officials and private contractors were out hunting people and still are. All of this is probably going on in FL right now also. Just like Katrina. They were also going into the wealthy neighborhoods and doing their own “govt looting”.
This man’s story is a MUST hear. It will have you spell bound.

OM#G! Military Man Speaks Out About FEMA Death During Hurricane Harvey WATCH BEFORE ITS TAKEN DOWN! - YouTube
After hearing this man’s story it makes you realize that that homeless man on the news WAS telling the truth. I’m assuming you guys saw the video of the homeless man? On live news?…A newscaster was in TX a couple weeks ago….interviewing a man who was weathering the storm on his own outside, taking shelter under some awnings. The newscaster walked up to him and asked why he was outside. The man said because Red Cross and another FEMA shelter were caught killing everyone inside. On live TV he said this!! The newscaster changed the subject very abruptly….the man then started saying how he was a police officer….he was cut off again. Here’s that video if you missed it.
You Won't Believe This Disturbing Video (Watch Till The End) - YouTube
| Hurricane Harvey has hit Houston Texas with devastating flood water leaving many people homeless and in need of help. Swamp buggies are 9 foot average height and arounf 16 to 18 feet long. These guys have been here in the south east Texas area since thursday morning helping in many areas with many many people who need the help. Not once have these guys had a single complaint. They came down here from illinois on their own dime and time and they were never asked to come to Houston it was the mud family pulling together for a cause that needed them.
We have seen people using boats, big trucks and helicopters to save lives but this is the first time we have seen swamp buggies out helping and we couldnt be more proud of our fellow americans banding together and helping in a huge crisis.
As chilling as it sounds this isn’t the first time FEMA has been accused of killing ppl in their care. Josh Coy, the talk show host of the largest FM radio station in Alabama started investigating the claims that FEMA was killing homeless ppl. He discovered that FEMA was picking up homeless ppl in blue vans and they’d never be seen again. He says it has to do with organ harvesting.
They tried to kill Josh Coy recently when he went in for a medical procedure. In the middle of the night multiple fake doctors came into his hospital room and tried to force him to take an injection. He was able to hold them off and survived the assasination attempt.
So it’s extremely disturbing when we see the homeless being openly separated from the general population and forced onto buses during these hurricanes.
HOMELESS BEING FORCIBLY SEPARATED FROM THE GENERAL POPULATION AND FORCED ONTO BUSES….
Posted by a friend in a private group I’m in. She said this:
“This was posted by (name omitted), she is in one of my FB groups. She is a first hand witness to this. It is disturbing!!!
This alternative newsflash has come in to me today (9 SEPT ’17) from Central Florida….
Homeless in Florida are segregated, deported to unknown locations as Hurricane Irma approaches…
Poor and homeless people who were standing in line to register at community shelters today have been systematically separated out from the lineups by police and transported to unknown locations.
An eyewitness at a school shelter in Flagler County reported this morning,:
“There were a dozen or so of these guys in line, mostly men and a few women, some of them in wheel chairs. The cops got on the blower and read out a bunch of names and told them they all had to get on the bus that just pulled up, it was a local school bus. One of the guys whose name was called objected and asked why it was only the homeless being put on the bus. Two cops immediately grabbed him and forced him on. A lady in a wheel chair started screaming and demanding to know where they were going. I asked one of the cops and he said to the local Salvation Army. But after they forced them on the bus and it left I called my auntie on my cell and she drove by the only Salvation Army in the area and there was no school bus there, the place was all locked up and boarded up against the storm.”
A staff member at a community center shelter in Volusia County confirmed today that an “arrangement” had been made to have anyone either homeless or on social assistance sheltered in “separate facilities”. But the staff member gave no indication where those facilities were or why the transportees had no choice in the matter and were forcibly pulled out of the lines by police.”
Now watch this video of these homeless people being forced onto separate buses.

Even though the stock market is soaring, our nation is in more danger than ever because of extreme natural disasters and rogue factions itching to run riot.
Now consider these problems along with the very real potential for food shortages, an escalation of the war with North Korea, and general increases in contagious diseases.
No matter how much or little prepping you have done, the fact remains something can still catch you off guard at any time. If you are in a city, and need a place to hide, it is very easy to make a bad decision.
Have a look at 10 places you might go to without thinking, and wind up with even more problems than you had before.
Open Areas Above Ground
There are many situations where you will need to get out of the building you are in as quickly as possible. If there is a fire, flood, or the building is struck by some kind of bomb, then you have to get out before the building collapses.
Once you are clear of the building, the worst thing you can do is stay out in the open, as a lot of bad things can happen:
Debris and smoke from the building can easily fly in all directions and land on you.
If you ran outside because of an earthquake, surrounding buildings may also begin to cave in and send debris in all directions.
If the situation involves several buildings, other people will also be panicking and trying to get out of the buildings as fast as possible. You can easily be stampeded or injured as people try to get away from danger as quickly as possible.
Do not make the mistake of trying to get in your car and hoping it will shelter you. A car has an even weaker frame than a building. Falling debris can easily crush it and leave you trapped inside. In addition, if there is a bad enough panic, people may literally try to tear your vehicle apart or take other actions to prevent you from leaving the scene.
After you successfully leave a building that you feel is dangerous, the best thing you can do is get underground as quickly as possible.
Find out in time which manhole covers in your city offer safe access tunnels or other areas to hide in. In general, service tunnels will be safer than subways or other popular public areas in situations where hostile forces are attempting to take over the city.
Upper Floors of Any Building
Unless you are dealing with a hurricane or other flood that prevents you from getting to the ground level, stay away from the upper floors of a building. The upper floors are always the weakest, and also the hardest to escape from on your own.
No matter whether you are afraid of your building being taken over by hostile forces, or you must escape a fire, once you reach the top floor, you can still wind up being trapped. If you must go to the upper floors of a building, try to have the following on hand:
A cell phone, pocket mirror, or something else you can use to signal that you need help
Heavy duty rope and hooks that you can use to attach the rope to another building. You will need to practice your skills to make it safely from one building to another.
An ax for breaking down walls or through roofs An ax can also be used for defense if nothing else is available.
Places With Easily to See Doors or Windows
The ability to get out of a building easily can also spell disaster if unwanted people can get to you and trap you in your location. If you are truly trying to hide from other people, the worst thing you can do is be anywhere near a door or window.
If there is a visible door or window that can be breached, people looking for you or anything of value will try to get in. If you have a panic room or a basement hiding place, maintain their exits without drawing unwanted attention:
Use poison ivy, nettles, and other noxious plants to cover secret entrances and exits. This includes exit points coming up from tunnels or other underground locations. Just remember to have coveralls and suitable tools for cutting the vegetation away so that you can make your escape with as little pain as possible.
Cover up a back door, side entrance, or window with faux siding. Repaint your home or take other steps to make the covering look as permanent as possible. You should still be able to knock the covering out with ease in time of need. Your goal is to make the window or exit invisible to outside observers. Even if neighbors do remember a window or door in that location, the covering will hopefully make people overlook the area since they will think it is closed off.
Try to make at least one exit tunnel in your basement or crawlway to a location at or near the boundary of your property. Be sure you know where all gas and other maintenance lines are so you do not tunnel in those areas.
Near Roadways or Other Traffic Areas
Regardless of the crisis type, people will be trying to escape in their vehicles, and the worst thing you can do is try to hide in a traffic jam or near a crowded roadway.
In these instances, road blocks, surveillance teams, and even hostile forces can see you and control you with relative ease. No matter whether you have plans to get out of the city, or you decide to stay close to home, it is never a good idea to be near roadways or heavy traffic.
If you must use roadways or be near them, you can choose one of two times:
First, if you are certain that you can get through a roadblock or other impediment with no problems, then do so when it would be normal for people like you to be passing through the area.
Second, you can try to slip through when there is a situation going on. If someone else panics or causes a disruption that leads to a grouping of people around an area away from a passage point, you can try to slip through.
One has only to look at the number of mass shootings in “gun free” school zones to know they are absolutely the most dangerous places on Earth. Aside from that, never forget that Timothy McVeigh and many others intent on mayhem these days don’t need guns to destroy schools.
People with criminal intent will go there first because they know they will have as much time as they want to carry out their sick plans before someone with a gun gets there to stop them at the scene or apprehend them later on. No matter where you go, if you are in a city and need a safe place to go, avoid schools at all cost.
While most people in the United States don’t give it much thought, schools are also likely to be the target of hostile takeover in a time of riots and other forms of severe national distress. Any criminal or terrorist will flock to a school first because it is poorly defended and helpless children in harm’s way makes for a huge media splash.
Schools are also not the best places to go in the event of a natural disaster. Even though they often have generators and the room to accommodate large numbers of people, many of these buildings are on the verge of being structurally unsound.
Check the maintenance records and needs of local schools, and you may be surprised to find out they may not hold up very well in the face of a hurricane or other severe weather condition. Without a question, if you are in an inner city area or other poor neighborhood, the schools may be in worse condition than other buildings in the area.
In many senses, hospitals are as dangerous as schools, and for the same reasons. Hospitals may have weak or failing building structures, and they also house vulnerable people whose condition may easily grab media attention.
While hospitals do have better security staffing than schools, it may still not be enough to overcome problems created by large numbers of people in panic mode. If the situation is bad enough, people may even try to storm the hospital to steal food, drugs, or anything else than can be of use.
At this time, we would all like to think that in time of need, hospitals will be safe from scavenging and other predatory behaviors because our culture has deeply ingrained values about the sanctity of a medical setting.
That being said, we also live in a culture of sick video games and the unhealthy crossing of many other boundaries. Do not be surprised if at some point hospitals also become prey to predation during times of crisis.
Depending on the situation, hospitals can also be places where you can catch some very dangerous diseases. Right now, hospitals do have better air filtering systems than you would find in other areas. On the other side of the equation, if the cause of the crisis is disease related, that also means people infected will go to the hospital for treatment.
As a result, if you are still healthy, going to the hospital may expose you to the disease unnecessarily.
When I was growing up, my mother always said “if you are in a bad way and have no place else to turn, go to the church”. While many of the things my mother said have withstood the test of time, I cannot help but question going to a church for safety in time of need.
As with schools, churches have become the target of lunatics and predators seeking to harm the unarmed and the vulnerable.
To add insult to injury, as our society slips closer and closer to complete mass disruption, it is possible that churches will be targeted just to kill off those who avow a specific faith. Our history as far back as time goes is one in which people are ruthlessly slaughtered for their beliefs and affiliations.
Depending on the type of crisis, going to a church for shelter may truly be the worst thing you can do. While a church may offer suitable shelter from a blizzard or other relatively short term situation, I don’t recommend it for matters where civil unrest is expected.
Above Ground Areas of Malls or Other Public Gathering Locations
Large numbers of people in malls or other large public shelters can pose a number of problems. First, under stressful situations, you never know what, when, or how a stampede will get started. As the waves of panic ripple through the crowd, it may be impossible for you to escape.
If you are dealing with any kind of hostile takeover, rest assured that occupying forces will always look to subdue the largest numbers of able bodied people as quickly as possible. This, in turn, means, they will go to the malls and other areas where large numbers of people will prevent evacuation and escape.
Needless to say, if you are concerned about air raids, bombings, or other hostile acts, the enemy will still seek to hit maximize casualties by hitting large and popular public areas.
It is important to remember that underground areas of malls may still provide a safe place to hide in the city. For example, older malls may actually have long forgotten bomb shelters in the basement, or other areas that are fortified enough to ensure some degree of safety.
Therefore, if you have malls nearby, make it a point to see if underground parking garages or other underground facilities housed in the mall may be of use in a time of need.
During crisis, there is a natural tendency for people to try and organize in order to regain stability as quickly as possible. Some say temporary camps may be useful in the first hours or days after some natural disasters.
Here are just a few problems that you might face if staying at a temporary shelter in a city for too long:
Within a fairly short period of time, criminals and other unsavory people will try to take advantage of the situation, trying to rob you or hurt you. Order can, and does, break down very quickly in temporary camps despite access to food and other basics.
As with hospitals, you may also wind up being exposed to many illnesses, which is especially important if the crisis occurs during the flu season or another time when communicable diseases are likely to spread quickly in tight quarters.
If extensive areas of the outer society collapse, you will be a sitting duck and forced to go wherever you are told to go. While this may not be a problem if it is our national guard, police, or FEMA officials directing you to a safer location, it can be a huge problem if an invading force or hostile insurgents take over the camp.
Overall, temporary camps set up for crisis management can be of help, especially if you have no bug out plans or do not know where to begin to put your life back together after a large scale crisis.1
It is still worth your while to get out of the camp as quickly as possible so that you can avoid problems associated with living in such close contact with others.
On the other hand, if you don’t fit into the local scenery, then you may become a target for just about anyone that decides they have a reason to attack you. The only way to make sure you will be safe merging into a crowd for any reason during a crisis is to practice your skills now.
Just because you live in a city, that doesn’t mean your local area cannot be hit by massive floods, fires, or hostile takeovers. In fact, if you are in a city during a major crisis, the sheer number of people trying to deal with the situation can easily work against you.
When facing these kinds of situations, you must always think objectively about possible places where you can go to be safe.
Avoiding the ten problem areas listed in this article, and you may have a better chance of survival and find a suitable shelter before it’s too late!
With this novel technique you can make an earthbag building to serve as a studio, garden shed, chicken coop, or root/storm cellar — no permit required!
One of the most practical structures on a small farmstead is a multipurpose building that can serve as a storage shed or cool pantry above ground, or as a root cellar or storm shelter below ground.
You can build this multipurpose structure for about $300 using earthbag construction (bags filled with earth and stacked like bricks). And the skills you learn by building the dome will serve you well if you plan to build a larger earthbag building — or even an earth home.
In many cases, no building permit will be needed for this little building, because it’s below the minimum size required by most building codes (for structures that are not inhabited and not attached to a residence). But because codes vary by region, check your local building regulations before you begin.
The earthbag dome has a natural look and blends in with the land. It has a solid, organic feel — just what you’d expect from a design inspired by nature that has been combined with a little modern ingenuity and thousands of years of earth- and dome-building wisdom.

Building With Earthbags
No expensive forms or equipment are needed with earthbag building, and the technique is faster and easier than other earth-building styles — including cob, rammed-earth tire construction, and adobe (if you have to make your own bricks). Earthbag buildings are more water resistant than those made with straw bales, making them suitable for earth-bermed and below-grade structures. If your site is susceptible to flooding, earthbag building is one of the best options — after all, sandbags have a long history of use for flood control. Just use an appropriate fill material, such as gravel, in lower courses.
The cost of building with earthbags varies. You can almost build free if you take the time to scrounge the materials, (used poly bags and barbed wire, recycled wood, and local soil and gravel). Few tools are required. Here’s a “middle of the road” cost estimate that assumes you’ll buy the major items but also take time to shop around. For example, if you don’t have used polypropylene bags, you can almost certainly find a local farmer who does.
The most significant advantage to building with bags is the simplicity of the process. No special skills are required: Fill bags with earth and tamp them solid. Building with bags requires a lot of physical effort, but brute strength is not necessary because each step can be done a little at a time at a comfortable pace.
Earthbag domes are incredibly strong and hold up well in hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes. After being plastered or bermed with earth, they are virtually fireproof. A properly constructed earthbag structure approaches the strength of stone, at a fraction of the cost, labor, and necessary skills.
This earthbag shed is 8 feet in diameter inside (about 11 feet outside) and approximately 8 feet high. Plans could be scaled up to create 10- to 16-foot diameter domes. At the top of a larger dome, the earthbag thickness and cantilever (corbel distance) have to be adjusted slightly so it’s more conical.
Any building project can be dangerous, so stay alert while working. Until all the bags are in place and locked together, there’s a risk that they might fall, causing damage or injury.

The corbelled dome is constructed with horizontal courses of polypropylene bags with each course inset from the previous course. The inset starts out at about 1 inch at the bottom and increases to about 5 inches on upper courses.
There are several building options:
Above ground and bermed with earth
Recessed below ground level
Built into a hillside, either partially or completely underground (with a swale and French drain to divert water).
For maximum efficiency as a root cellar, build the dome into the side of a gently sloping hill. The earth will naturally moderate temperature swings. This also eliminates the need to purchase/haul backfill. Note: we didn’t have a hill on our land, so we had to truck in backfill to create a berm around our dome.
If the dome will be used for food storage, consider locating it within a convenient distance of the kitchen.
The first two courses of bags are complete circles bonded with barbed wire. Succeeding courses start at either side of the door opening.
Orient the building so the door is opposite prevailing storms and wind.
Create a slope in front of the dome so water drains away from the door.
One work crew of two or three people is probably best for a structure this size. It’s also convenient to have an extra person to run errands.
Have someone in charge watch over every process. In our case, I was usually the bag filler and the one placing bags in position. This allowed me to observe each of the following steps:
Visually check the moisture content of each bucket load of earth and occasionally test a clump in your hand
Tamp the contents in the bag lightly after each bucketful of road base is added. (Note: there’s no need to put the tamper in the bag, just pull the bag to one side and tamp the outside.)
Push extra road base into the corners as it’s filled to avoid bulges
Create a running bond with staggered joints, as in brick work (avoid ending a bag above another joint)
Keep corbel size and bag thickness consistent
Check string lines regularly
Maintain consistent tamping and accurate level: tamp, level, final tamping on high spots.
Earthbag Building Terminology
Road base: A special clay/gravel mixture used to build roads. Most soils will work just fine.
Gravel: Use in rubble trench foundation, first two courses of bags (to prevent wicking), floor and area in front of door.
String lines: The center string line establishes the circular shape and is lengthened accordingly to measure each course. The string line that establishes the vertical dome curvature remains a constant length of 112 inches.
Bags: You can find woven polypropylene bags by searching for “poly sandbags” online. This type of bag is used for grain, animal feed, fertilizer, and flood control — so your local hardware or feed store may sell them. For the best deal, look for misprinted or barely used bags. Most empty bags measure 18 by 30 inches when flat. Another common size is approximately 20 by 36 inches. Although this larger size will work for the dome, the smaller size bags are easier to handle and create a tight radius for a small dome.
Bag filling: You can fill the bags using heavy-duty 2-gallon plastic buckets, which are small enough to handle comfortably. Most bags need four buckets of road base to be filled to capacity. In some cases, only three buckets of road base are necessary to make a shorter bag to avoid ending a bag above a previous joint. Two rounded shovelfuls of road base fill a 2-gallon bucket perfectly. Or use a sturdy hoe or similar digging tool to reduce shoveling. Even though shoveling is faster, it’s easier to pull the material into a bucket than to lift the material with a shovel. On the last stroke, a quick flick of the hoe will tilt the bucket upright. To keep bags open when filling, use a “bucket chute,” a funnel made by cutting the bottom inch off of a 4-gallon bucket.
Placing bags: On a dome this size, about two to four courses can be laid each day, depending on the strength, endurance, and skills of the crew. Small, upper courses go a little faster. Pace yourself, take frequent breaks, and allow ample time to study the plans. Just one mistake could cause a lot of extra work.
Tamping: We used two tampers: an agile 45-inch one for tamping bag contents during filling, and a 55-inch one. Both can be used for tamping walls, but the long-handled version is easier to apply more force. Each one is made with a 6-by-6-by-3/8-inch plate-steel base, 3/8-inch angled steel ribs, and a 1 3/4-inch pipe to hold the wood handle, which is bolted on. You could also buy one for about $10.
Leveling: Usually just a few bags per course required a little extra tamping. I attribute this to measuring the contents of each bag and placing them with a bit of care.
Retaining walls: The walls in front of the dome prevent backfill and excess water from spilling into the entrance area. They also serve as buttresses and seating. Rebar pins through the bags add reinforcement. You might want to vary the stepped design on the retaining wall slightly and round the plaster edges a little to create a more natural look. Consider using plastic plaster mesh because it won’t rust. Attach the mesh directly to the bags with 1 1/2-inch roofing nails. Plaster with two coats of lime plaster: one part lime to 2 1/2 or three parts of clean builder’s sand. After the plaster is dry, add plastic sheeting behind the retaining wall for added protection against moisture damage. Add another layer of plastic after most of the backfill is complete. Use bitumen to create a waterproof seal between the plastic and the back side of the retaining wall.
Arch form: We experimented with old tires to form the door arch, because the time and cost of building a curved form with plywood didn’t make sense. We used wood supports under each side of the tires, which were braced side-to-side. This created an opening so we could check the curvature with the string line.
Door arch: The semicircular Roman door arch is made with 12-inch-long bags filled from above and tamped with an improvised tamping rod (tree branch). Additional tamping from the sides with a 2-by-4 tamping board creates the necessary taper. You can eyeball the taper, as we did, or set up a string line.
Door: After all the bags have been laid, make a door frame to fit the space. We used 1-by-2-inch rectangular steel tubing for the sides and bottom of the frame, and an 1/8-by-2-inch steel plate bent to an arch for the top. Try to find recycled wood for the door. A curved branch would make a nice rustic handle. We used a cabinet handle. Weld a hasp to the frame if you want a padlock. Make one or more screened openings in the door for ventilation.
Eyebrow (Awning): Use seven peeled, rot-resistant 32-inch wood poles, approximately 3 inches in diameter. Western juniper, a common wood for fence posts in the western United States, is an excellent choice. Likewise, use 3/4- to 1-inch diameter peeled juniper branches to cover the eyebrow. Add plaster mesh and lime plaster on the top.
Options for Finishing the Earthbag Dome
Plaster the entire dome. This is the fastest, easiest option to protect the dome if all you need is a tool shed or basic shelter. Mesh isn’t required, although it’s recommended on the areas previously mentioned.
Create a living roof with backfill and plants. A living roof is especially appealing and worth the extra effort. This option is best approached as a labor of love because it is time-consuming. Small terraces slow water runoff and make working on the dome much easier. We chose a drought-resistant sod that’s used by the highway department, and getting it established was still tricky because water runs off the steep areas quite rapidly. Our plan is to use the sod to anchor the soil, then gradually add lots of plants and flowers for a more natural look and the pleasure of harvesting fresh herbs.
First, cover the entire dome with 6-mil black plastic by overlapping two 12-foot wide pieces. Add backfill in layers at a 45-degree slope by walking on it and tamping lightly. After the backfill is nearly up to the desired level, cover the entire surface (including the backfill) with 6-mil black plastic. Add a third layer of plastic on the top, down to the eyebrow level.
Next, add poly fishnet over the entire dome to give the soil and roots something to grab onto. We used poly shade screen on the top, but we discovered fishnet works better and is less expensive. Starting at the bottom, add a 3- to 4-inch layer of soil on top of the fishnet. Randomly shoveling earth could leave thin spots. Instead, work methodically to cover one area at a time. Tamp as you go to keep soil in place. The top of the dome requires extra care. We made an 8-inch “wall” around the sides and back of the dome with lots of stomping.
The steep areas on either side of the eyebrow and the area near the top call for a different method. Use your hands to create a miniature earth wall with a flat ledge on top. A soil with high clay content works best in these areas. After final shaping and raking, add more fishnet to the top quarter of the dome to help hold the sod in place. Then add sod and/or plants. You’ll need about 70 square yards. We used 2-inch-long pieces of split bamboo to hold the sod in position until the roots became established. One sprinkler on the top will water the entire living roof if you have good water pressure.
Step-by-Step Building Schedule
Day 1: Use temporary stakes to mark building location. Remove and stockpile topsoil (to cover the dome later), then level the building site. Stockpile road base around the dome site in a continuous U-shaped pile about 4-feet high by 8-feet wide at the base.
Day 2: Place a permanent stake to mark the center of the dome, and attach a string line to measure 4 feet to where the inside edge of the first course (row) of bags will be. Measure and stake out where the retaining walls will go. Make a rubble trench foundation (trench filled with gravel) at least several inches larger than the width of your bags, digging down to solid mineral soil (often a sand/gravel/clay consistency). A rubble trench foundation eliminates the need to go below frost line.
Make the rubble trench foundation under the retaining walls at the same time. Fill the trench with 4- to 6-inch layers of tamped 3/4-inch crushed aggregate until 6 inches below finish grade (the top of where the soil was before you dug the foundation). A special mix of aggregates, “5/8-inch minus,” also..
Whether you are prepping for the zombie apocalypse or the aftermath of a hurricane, self-defense is an important aspect of surviving any disaster. Everyone has their preference as to what qualifies as the best survival weapon. History has proven the rifle to be the best all-purpose firearm to face a variety of combat and self-defense scenarios.
However, a rifle should only be part of what many preppers refer to as a layered defense system. It doesn’t matter if you are bugging out or sheltering, your need to arm yourself with a variety of weaponry, self-defense skills and training is the same. With that said, if you could have only one firearm in a survival situation it should be a quality rifle.
Though handguns and shotguns are also to be considered, a rifle will give you the most versatility for handling a variety of post-disaster needs from hunting to perimeter security. However, the options and varieties when it comes to choosing a survival rifle are nearly endless and even the most avid shooters and preppers struggle to choose a favorite.
Ultimately, the choice comes down to your own personal preferences and needs, as there is no such thing as the perfect survival rifle.
Below we will feature a handful of rifles that are commonly considered to be among the best all-purpose firearms to have on hand when SHTF.
1. AR-15 – The AR-15, which is manufactured by dozens of individual companies and comes in a variety of styles, is one of the most widely used rifles in the world.
The semi-automatic AR-15 was designed by Armalite, who then sold the design to Colt in the early 1960s. The updated fully-automatic Colt AR-15 became the standard infantry weapon of the US Military and has since become a favorite in military, law enforcement, and civilian communities alike.
The AR’s popularity comes from its accuracy, reliability, and nearly unlimited levels of customization thanks to its modular design and two-piece receiver. The rifle is capable of firing either 5.56x44mm or .223 caliber rounds, typically delivered from a 30-round magazine. Both Armalite and Colt still produce semi-automatic versions of the AR for civilian purchase, but other popular manufacturers include DPMS, Smith & Wesson, Remington, and Bushmaster.
One of the best start-up AR-15s for survival purposes is the DPMS Sportical, which will only set you back about $700. It’s a lightweight and ready-to-shoot carbine-style AR with a 16-inch barrel and adjustable stock capable of firing either 5.56 or .223 rounds. Like most ARs, it can be upgraded with an endless array of accessories to suit your post-disaster survival needs.
2. AK-47 – Like the AR-15, the AK-47 is one of the most popular rifles in the world, and easily one of the most widely recognized.
The rifle has seen action all around the globe and is praised for its ability to withstand use and abuse in nearly any terrain, conditions, or combat scenario. An AK-47 can be submerged in water or mud, go through a sandstorm, or fall off a cliff and still fire without fail.
That’s because unlike most modern-day tactical rifles, the 60-year old design of the AK employs loosely fitting moving parts that give it the ability to sustain abuse. The tradeoff is relatively mediocre accuracy, but a 30-round magazine of 7.62x39mm rounds should be more than enough to hit your target in a survival standoff. If not, the sheer intimidation of the gun’s appearance and rate of fire will be enough to send a clear message to your attacker not to mess with you.
Though AK-47 is commonly considered a “bad guy” gun, the stereotype attached to it in normal times may come as an advantage during a disaster. Basic models can be purchased for about $500, also ammo is cheap and abundant. AKs are great considerations for preppers on a budget who want to send a clear message to anyone who tries to harm them when SHTF.
3. M1 Carbine – Though it hasn’t seen active duty in combat since Vietnam, the M1 Carbine was for years considered to be one of the best combat rifles in the world.
Designed as a more compact and lightweighted version of the M1 Garand, a WWII infantry staple, the M1 Carbine was an incredibly versatile rifle that had high effect and tremendous accuracy, especially at mid-range.
To that effect, the M1 Carbine still serves as a great all-purpose rifle. The standard comes with a 15-round magazine of .30-caliber rounds, which aren’t the best for taking down targets at a distance, but serve their purpose at closer ranges and in hunting scenarios.
A modern take on the M1 Carbine, the AOM130, is available from Auto Ordinance for about $800. The rifle, made in the USA at Kahr Arm’s Worcester, MA plant, weighs in at just 5.4-pounds and features an 18-inch barrel and traditional walnut stock.
Unfortunately, the original models from WWII and Korea are getting harder to come by, which is unfortunate given the fact that even the old ones are still battle-ready anytime. However, .30-caliber ammo is becoming increasingly more expensive and harder to come across giving the M1 Carbine what is probably its only disadvantage as a modern-day survival rifle.
4. Ruger 10/22 – Some preppers insist upon arming themselves with the latest and greatest tactical firearms with the most firepower. Others believe basic is better and consider the .22-caliber Long Rifle (LR) to be the best and the only rifle you need to survive any disaster. If you subscribe to the latter theory, there are few better options than the Ruger 10/22.
Like most quality .22 LRs, the Ruger 10/22 is the perfect rifle for those new to shooting and a great starter gun for children and young adult shooters. The .22-caliber rimfire ammunition doesn’t deliver any kickback or recoil, but can hit targets at 100-yards with deadly precision and ease. The carbine-style rifle comes in stock with a 10-round rotary magazine that sits flush with the stock of the gun, helping to give it a lower profile and more comfortable carry.
One of the biggest advantages of a .22-rimfire long rifle is the abundance and affordability of ammunition. This will allow you to enjoy endless days of target shooting before SHTF and the opportunity to stockpile plenty of backup rounds to have on hand when disaster strikes. Fortunately, ammo costs shouldn’t be much of a concern to begin with, as the gun itself will only set you back a couple hundred bucks. From there you can customize and accessorize your Ruger to suit your specific survival needs.
5. Marlin 1985 GS – If you want a compact rifle with big stopping power that will take down nearly any type of game in any kind of whether, look no further than the lever-action Marlin 1985 GS. Despite the appearance of a menacing big-game hunter, which is indeed, the 1985 GS only measures 37-inches overall and weighs just 7-pounds.
At 18.5-inches, the barrel of the gun is only slightly larger than a carbine-style rifle, but the .45.70 Gov’t issued rounds over stopping power unlike most guns of its size. Whether you’re up against a mob of angry looters, zombies, or a wild bear, the Marlin 1985 GS will have no problem mowing down anything in its path.
In addition to its sheer stopping power, the rifle classic employs a classic walnut and stainless steel design that’s both aesthetically pleasing and practical for battling against corrosion in rough weather. The rifle starts at about $650, a reasonable price to pay for a rifle that’s guaranteed to put food on the table and stop enemies in their tracks when the going gets rough.
6. Henry Arms AR-7 – The term “survival rifle” was originally designated for those guns designed to be carried in the cockpits of military aircraft when a pilot was shot down in enemy territory.
The gun needed to be compact, lightweighted, and capable of taking down both wild game and enemy combatants with reliability and accuracy. To that tune, the US military adopted the Springfield Armory M6 Scout as their rifle of choice for aircraft pilots. This collapsible gun featured two barrels that shot both .22 LR and .410 shotgun rounds giving it added versatility.
Though the Scout could still be considered a good survival rifle today, a more modern take on the survival rifle can be found in the form of the Henry Arms AR-7. The AR-7 weighs a mere 3.5-pounds and measures just 16-5-inches when broken down, making it ideal for concealed carry in a bug out bag, vehicle, or even underneath your jacket.
The rifle comes with two 8-round magazines for chambering .22 LR ammunition, which is one of the best and most readily available all-purpose survival rounds. The gun will only cost you about $280 and can serve as either your primary or backup survival rifle.
The rifles featured above by no means constitute a comprehensive list of the best all-purpose survival rifles. There is a nearly unlimited array of options to choose from, each of which have their advocates and serve various needs in the military, law enforcement, hunting, and target shooting community.
If you want to have the best chances of surviving a disaster scenario you must equip yourself with a firearm that you feel comfortable shooting at both two-legged and four-legged targets to protect and provide for yourself.
The selections above were chosen for their popularity, versatility, affordability, and ability to be handled by shooters of all levels. The choice comes down to you, but in the end the best survival rifle is the one you have with you, the one you have ammo for, and the one you’re trained to shoot effectively.

During the early 1800s, cooking dominated the time and energy of the average housewife. There were no big grocery stores where families could go to purchase food, and eating out was truly a rare treat, usually possible only when traveling. Most fruits and vegetables were grown on the farmstead, and families processed meats such as poultry, beef, and pork. People had seasonal diets. In the spring and summer months, they ate many more fruits and vegetables than they did in the fall and winter. During those colder seasons, families found ways to preserve their food.
The three main ways of curing (the process of preserving food) during this time included drying, smoking, and salting. Each method drew moisture out of foods to prevent spoiling. Fruits and vegetables could be dried by being placed out in the sun or near a heat source. Meat products could be preserved through salting or smoking. A salt cure involved rubbing salt into the meat, which was then completely covered in salt and placed in a cool area for at least twenty-eight days. During this time, more salt was constantly added. When the meat was no longer damp, it was washed, then shelved or bagged and left to age. Families would hang meat preserved through a smoke cure in rooms or buildings with fire pits. For a month, the meat was constantly exposed to smoke, which dried it out while adding flavor. Using different kinds of wood for the fire, such as hickory or oak, could produce different tastes.
A typical day on the farm began very early. Women rose and built the fire based on the meals planned for that day. Families who could afford to have detached kitchens—kitchens in buildings separate from the house—did so for several reasons. The kitchen often was hot, smoky, and smelly. Most North Carolina families did not have the resources for a separate kitchen, though, and the hearth provided the center of home life and family activity. With no ovens or electricity, women prepared meals on the hearths of brick fireplaces. They used different types of fires and flames to prepare different types of food. For example, a controllable fire was used to roast and toast, while boiling and stewing required a smaller flame.
To use all of the fire’s energy, families shoveled coals and ash underneath and onto the lids of Dutch ovens. Standing on three legs and available in a wide array of sizes, the cast-iron Dutch oven was one of the most important tools found on the hearth. It was used to prepare several types of food and allowed cooking from both the top and the bottom. Dutch ovens evolved into woodstoves, common in homes of the later 1800s and early 1900s before most people got electricity at home.
Preparing meals was not just a matter of starting a fire for cooking. Spices, such as nutmeg and cinnamon, and seasonings, like salt and pepper, had to be ground up with mortars and pestles. Milk had to be brought in from the family dairy cow and cream and butter made from it. After someone brought in the milk, it usually sat out for about an hour. The cream rose to the top, separating from the milk. Women placed this cream into a butter churn and beat it until it hardened, first into whipped cream and eventually into butter!
Every family member contributed to the production and preparation of meals. Men and boys spent most of their time outdoors. Chores included working crops in the fields, feeding larger livestock, and hunting. Diets included wild game, such as deer and turkeys. Women and girls worked mainly in the kitchen and fed smaller livestock.
When it came time to butcher animals, families joined with their neighbors to share the workload and the meat. Pork was the staple meat in the Southeast until the 1940s. Hogs proved more manageable than their much larger counterparts, cows. The taste of pork also improved with curing. Neighbors often gathered in the fall, using the time to get their work done but also to catch up, sharing news and gossip. What began as a chore turned into a social event. This was also the case at harvesttime. Neighbors pitched in to bring in crops such as corn and wheat. After the work was done, everyone might celebrate with feasts, bonfires, and dancing.
Clearly, meal preparation two hundred years ago involved several more steps than it does now. Much like today, families usually ate three daily meals. The main meal in the 1800s, however, was not the large evening meal that is familiar to us today. Rather, it was a meal called dinner, enjoyed in the early afternoon. Supper was a smaller meal eaten in the evening.
A big difference between the way people eat today compared with long ago is the work and time needed. For modern families, food and meals are merely an afterthought in the schedule. Two hundred years ago, food and food preparation stood at the center of the family’s daily lifestyle. Without the advances in technology that help us store, preserve, and prepare food, men and women would spend much of their time getting meals ready to eat. Instead of calling pizza delivery, imagine spending all day in front of a fire!
Meat curing is the application of salt, color fixing ingredients, and seasoning in order to impart unique properties to the end product.
The salting and smoking of meat was an ancient practice even before the birth of Christ. These earlyprocessed meat products were prepared for one purpose, their preservation for use at some future time. Salt was used at concentrations high enough to preserve the meat. Preservation by smoking is believed to have been developed inadequately by the primitive tribes. The American Indians preserved meat prior to settlement by Europeans by hanging it in the top of a teepee to maximize contact with campfire smoke. The origin of the use of nitrite is lost in history. Salt containing nitrates was used in Homer’s time (850 B.C.) to preserve meat. Nitrate was present originally as a natural impurity in the salts used in curing but, unknown to the users, was a key ingredient in the curing process. The Romans, who learned the art of curing meat with salt from the Greeks, were the first to note the reddening effect now attributed to nitrite. Although the role of nitrites in cured meat was not really understood until early in the 20th century, it is clear that for thousands of years nitrite has played an important role in meat curing.
The two main ingredients that must be used to cure meat are salt and nitrite. However, other substances can be added to accelerate curing, stabilize color, modify flavor, and reduce shrinkage during processing. Salt is the primary ingredient used in meat curing. Originally it served as a preservative by dehydration and osmotic pressure which inhibits bacterial growth. Salt still functions as a preservative in the “country style” cured meat product.
The main function of salt in other cured products is to add flavor. However; even at low concentrations salt has some preservative action. Salt levels are dependent on consumer’s taste, but a two to three percent concentration in the product is about right. Nitrates and nitrites, either potassium or a sodium salt, are used to develop cured meat color. They impart a bright reddish, pink color, which is desirable in a cured product. In addition to the color role, nitrates and nitrites have a pronounced effect on flavor. Without them a cured ham would be simply a salty pork roast.
They further affect flavor by acting as powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants are compounds that prevent the development of oxidative rancidity, which would reduce the keeping quality. Sodium nitrites also prevent the growth of a food poisoning microorganism known as Clostridium botulimum, the bacteria that causes botulism. Nitrates and nitrites must be used with caution during curing.
They are toxic when used in large amounts. The Federal and State Meat Inspection regulations limit the amount that can be used in curing. It is important that exact amounts are used and the curing mixture is thoroughly mixed. The use level of sodium nitrate or potassium nitrate (saltpeter) is 3 1/2 oz. per 100 pounds meat for dry cure or 7 pounds nitrate per 100 gallons pickle (liquid cure) at 10percent pump level. The use of sodium or potassium nitrite is limited to 1 oz. per 100 pounds meat for dry cure, or 2 pounds per 100 gallons pickle (liquid cure) at 10percent pump level. Nitrites combined with nitrates should not be greater than 156 ppm ingoing into hams or 120 ppm ingoing into bellies. Sugar (sucrose) serves several important purposes in cured meat.
First of all, it adds flavor, and secondly, it counteracts the harshness of salt. Also sugar provides a surface color characteristic of aged ham if caramelized sugar is used. Both brown and white sugars can be used. The sugars most frequently used are sucrose, cane sugar, dextrose, and invert sugar. The amount of sugar used is selflimiting due to its sweetening power. Ascorbates (sodium ascorbate or sodium erythorbate) are used to speed the curing reaction by faster color development through more rapid reduction of nitrates and nitrites to nitric oxide. The nitric oxide combines with the meat pigment, myoglobin, to form nitrosomyglobin, dark red color. When the product is heated to 130-140°F the nitrosomyoglobin is converted to a stable pigment, nitrosohemochrome light pink in color. Also ascorbates are used to stabilize cure color of meats. The most frequently used cure accelerator compounds are sodium ascorbate or sodium erythorbate. Curing pickle containing these compounds should be used within 24 hours because their reaction with nitrite will lower the nitrite level of the pickle and its effectiveness. The ingredient phosphate should be used only for those meats cured with a liquid cure. Phosphates are adjuncts used to increase the water holding capacity of cured products.
In creased water holding capacity will increase yields of product and improve retention of brine. Phosphates are not easily soluble in a pickle. It is recommended to dissolve the phosphates first then add it to the pickle. Sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, and sodium pyrophosphate are approved by USDA for use in meat curing. Water must not be taken for granted as an ingredient of curing pickle (liquid cure). It acts as a carrier of the other ingredients, influences composition of the meat, and it may contribute to palatability or juiciness of the product. Yield of finish product is dependent on amount of water retained during the curing and cooking process. Such yields are critical in determining the price of the finished cooked product.
Curing MethodsDry curing
Best used to cure hams, bacon and smaller cuts of meat, dry curing involves applying the cure mix directly on the meat. After the application, place meat into a plastic food storage bag and tightly seal. From there, put your meat in the refrigerator and let the curing process take place. After curing, remove excess salt by rinsing your meat. The final step is to cook your meat and taste.
Also called the sweet pickle cure, brine curing is also a favorite for curing meat. This method involves combining curing salt and water to create a sweet pickle solution. To prepare the brine, use a large non-corrosive bowl, such as plastic or glass. To cure, inject the brine solution into the meat using a meat pump or soak the meat over a period of time. If you choose to soak, be sure to fully submerge the meat. A plate can be used as a weight to keep the meat immersed in your brine. Like dry curing, the process takes place in the refrigerator and the cured meat needs to be cooked when finished.
When you couple the dry rub cure and brine solution injections, the result is combination curing. Used to cure hams, this method shortens the curing time and reduces the risk of spoilage because the process takes place both inside and outside the ham. Again, curing is done in the refrigerator and the ham is cooked thereafter.
The sausage curing method, unlike those previously described, is accomplished by mixing curing salts and spices with ground meat. The curing process is then done in the refrigerator. When the curing process is complete, the sausage is cooked before serving.
Smoking of MeatSmoking
Smoke for treatment of meat products is produced from raw wood. Smoke is generated through the thermal destruction of the wood components lignin and cellulose. The thermal destruction sets free more than 1000 desirable or undesirable firm, liquid or gaseous components of wood.
These useful components contribute to the development of the following desirable effects on processed meat products:
Meat preservation through aldehydes, phenols and acids
Antioxidant impact through phenols and aldehydes
(retarding fat oxidation)
Smoke flavour through phenols, carbonyls and others
Smoke colour formation through carbonyls and aldehydes
Surface hardening of sausages/casings through aldehydes (in particular for more rigid structure of the casing)
The most known undesirable effect of smoking is the risk of residues of benzopyrene in smoked products which can be carcinogenic if the intake is in high doses over long periods. With normal eating habits, a carcinogenic risk is normally not associated with moderately smoked food such as smoked meat products.
Depending on the product, smoke is applied at different temperatures. There are two principal smoking techniques:
The principle of both methods is that the smoke infiltrates the outside layers of the product in order to develop flavor, color and a certain preservation effect.
Cold Smoking – This is the traditional way of smoking of meat products and was primarily used for meat preservation. Nowadays it serves more for flavor and color formation, for example in sausages made from precooked materials such as liver sausage and blood sausage (see page 153, 161).
The combination of cold smoking and drying/ripening can be applied to fermented sausages (see page 124) and salted or cured entire meat pieces (see page 176), in particular many raw ham products. In long-term ripened and dried hams, apart from providing colour and favour, the cold smoking has an important preservative effect as it prevents the growth of moulds on the meat surfaces.
The optimal temperature in “cold” smoking is 15 to 18°C (up to 26°C). Sawdust should be burned slowly with light smoke only and the meat hung not too close to the source of the smoke. Cold smoking is a long process which may take several days. It is not applied continuously, but in intervals of a few hours per day.
Hot Smoking – Hot smoking is carried out at temperatures of +60 to 80°C. The thermal destruction of the wood used for the smoking is normally not sufficient to produce these temperatures in the smoking chamber. Hence, additional heat has to be applied in the smoking chamber.
Fig. 69: Hotdogs are placed in the smokehouse for hot smoking (pale colour before smoking)
Hot smoking periods vary from not much longer than 10 minutes for sausages with a thin calibre such as frankfurters to up to one hour for sausages with a thick calibre such as bologna and ham sausage and products like bacon and cooked hams. The relatively high temperatures in hot smoking assure a rapid color and flavor development. The treatment period is kept relatively short in order to avoid excessive impact of the smoke (too strong smoke color and flavor).
Products and smoking – Cold smoking is used for fermented meat products (raw-cured ham, raw-fermented sausage) and precooked-cooked sausage (liver and blood sausages). Hot smoking is used for a range of raw-cooked sausages, bacon and cooked ham products. Smoke treatment can only be applied, if meat the products are filled in casings permeable to smoke (see page 248, 261). All natural casings are smoke permeable, as are cellulose or collagen basis synthetic casings.
Smoke permeable casings can also be treated using a new technology, where a liquid smoke solution is applied on the surface. This can be done by dipping in solution, showering (outside chamber) or atomization (spraying inside chamber). Polyamide or polyester based synthetic casings are not permeable to smoke. If smoke flavour is wanted for products in such casings, small quantities of suitable smoke flavour (dry or liquid) are added directly to the product mix during manufacture.
Production of Liquid Smoke
Liquid smoke can be used as an ingredient to sausages in smoke impermeable casings in order to achieve a certain degree of smoke flavor. As impermeable casings do not allow the penetration of gaseous smoke, liquid smoke can be added to the sausage mix during the manufacturing process. The starting point for the production of liquid smoke is natural smoke, generated by burning/smouldering wood under controlled temperatures with the input of an air supply. There are basically two different methods used for the subsequent processing of liquid smoke:
direct condensation of natural wood smoke to liquid smoke
penetration of the smoke into a carrier substance on the basis of water or oil and using this “smoked” carrier substance as an ingredient for meat products
There are many reasons why raised bed gardening is becoming so popular. One of the main reasons that they’re great for people who don’t have a lot of room is because you can put more plants in a raised bed than you could in a garden, thus making the most of what space you have.
The boxes are filled with dirt and compost that you control, so you can feed your plants exactly what they need to grow and flourish instead of depending on local soil. Raised beds maximize water usage so you grow more even in drought conditions and if you live in a wet climate, excess water can drain better. Soil erosion or compaction aren’t issues, either.
Since raised beds warm faster than the ground, your growing period is longer than if you had a traditional garden.Because the conditions are so controlled, raised bed gardens are much more forgiving for beginning gardeners and are easily tended by those with more experience. Snails and other pests have a tougher time reaching raised beds, too.
Finally, let’s not forget the strain that it takes off of your body. Raised beds won’t require as much bending because they’re built higher and, since they repel weeds, you won’t have to spend time bent over tending your garden.
But where should you start if this is your first time? Should you avoid any practices and are there tricks that can increase your odds of success? That’s what we’re going to discuss today!
Are planters and raised gardens the same?
This is a question that we hear a lot and seems to cause serious confusion among first-time raised-bed gardeners. The answer is a resounding “no”. The primary, and significant, difference between raised bed gardens and planters is that planters have built-in bottoms and raised bed gardens don’t.
This is a significant difference because the lack of a bottom allows the roots of the plant to grow as deeply as they need to in order to anchor the plant and obtain the nutrients that it needs for survival. Imagine trying to grow a carrot in a planter – you wouldn’t have much success, right?
What types of wood should you build raised bed gardens?
Without a doubt, wood is the most commonly used material in the construction of raised beds but you need to be careful. Don’t use wood that’s been treated with toxins such as railroad ties that have been soaked in creosote. You don’t want that to come into contact with your food.
Although the EPA says that the chemicals used to pressure treat lumber (alkaline copper quaternary, aka ACQ and copper azole, aka CA-B) is safe to use for growing food, as recently as 2003, a toxic chemical called chromated capper arsenate (CCA) was used so if you’re using reclaimed wood that is that old, you may be unintentionally mixing arsenic into our soil.
I personally avoid pressure treated lumber in my raised beds because it’s a chemical and I wouldn’t drink it. In my mind, that means that I shouldn’t grow my food in it. According to sources that I found, treated lumber isn’t permitted to be used in commercial organic gardens or else the food isn’t considered organic. I guess it’s fine to use for ornamentals, though. It’s a personal decision so make your own call.
There’s also a concern about using recycled pallets, not because of the chemicals that they’re treated with but because you don’t know what they’ve been in contact with. Remember, pallets are used to hold everything from cases of rat poison to boxes of raw chicken and they have been shown in a lab setting to harbor everything from bird poop to E. coli. You may want to skip pallets if you’re growing food.
If you want to play it safe, use untreated lumber. Woods less prone to rot are great because you’ll get longer life from your beds but they can be costly, too. Redwood, cedar and Jupiter are all woods that are rot-resistant if you’re interested in going that way.
Is concrete safe to use to build your raised beds?
This is a question that’s been cropping up more often since people started making those extremely efficient beds out of concrete blocks, aka cinder blocks. The argument here is that concrete contains chemicals and cinder block is often made from fly ash, which you wouldn’t want around your food.
The truth of the matter is that, though concrete dust is hard on your lungs and there are chemicals used in the production of some concrete, the actual ingredients of standard concrete are benign. Though “cinder block” is used in most parts of the country as a synonym for a concrete block, they aren’t actually made from cinders any more.
I couldn’t find any solid evidence from a single credible source that says that concrete is harmful if it comes into contact with your food plants so I’ll continue to use it.
If you make the same decision, be careful about adding chunks to your soil because concrete is alkaline and you may unintentionally affect the pH of your soil. I don’t think this is much of a concern if you’re using concrete block as your structure though.
Using other materials
Modern technology has blessed us with plastic and composite materials that we can use to make fake boards. HDPE (High density polyethylene) is the plastic that’s usually used to make these and it’s a non-leaching material most often made from recycled milk jugs. It’s a lot more durable than wood.
Though I’m typically against using store-bought anything, especially plastic, if I can avoid it, I’d possibly consider using these because they actually support recycling.
Other materials that are good to use include logs and stacked sand bags. Really, you can use whatever you want; they ‘re your beds. Just watch out for materials that may leach toxins into your soil.
How tall should your raised garden beds be?
This is a question with about a thousand answers but they’re all a variant of “however tall you want them or need them to be.” Obviously taller beds are going to require more dirt and compost. The only reasons that you would want to go much higher than 12 inches, which is the average height of a raised bed, is if the soil underneath your bed is bad and you don’t want to dig or if you want them to be taller so that you don’t have to bend as much.
Keep in mind that if you go taller than 18 inches or longer than 6 feet, you should probably reinforce the sides of the bed with braces so that the wood doesn’t bow out and distort the shape of the box or let your dirt escape. Use cross supports ever 4-6 feet to prevent this from happening.
Remove roots from the soil when digging your raised bed
You want to prepare the soil underneath your raised bed garden carefully before you build your bed over it. Remove any roots that you find because they’ll leach the nutrients out of the soil before your plants have a chance to get to them.
You’ll want to dig down about 16 inches and turn the soil well, removing any rocks as well as roots while you go. Layer the soil up the sides so that you have a trench to put the soil in.
Level the soil under the bed first
This may sound silly because you’re just going to pour your own dirt and compost in there, right? Well yes, but the soil is going to settle a bit after a few waterings and you want them to do so on the level so that your bed settles level instead of listing one direction or another.
Use a level for this because you’d be surprised by the difference that just a couple of inches make. You may want to add your soil, water it, then let it settle for a few days before planting anything in it just to be sure you’re good.
Build the long side of the bed facing south
No, we’re not just doing this to give your beds a room with a view. Well, yes we are, sort of. If you put the long side of the bed facing south, your plants will be getting even exposure to sunlight which will help them to grow efficiently and equally.
Account for moles and other burrowing pests
If you live in an area that has a healthy mole population, you may want to consider lining the bottom and sides of your bed with hardware cloth, which is a metal mesh. If you’re planning on growing root crops, just dig a little deeper so that they have room to grow.
Don’t walk on your beds
One of the best benefits of a raised bed garden is that the soil doesn’t become compacted. If you walk on it, you’re compacting the soil which will inhibit root growth because you’ve decreased aeration in the soil. Nothing with any weight should ever enter your raised bed garden, including pets and even buckets with anything heavy in them.
It may be helpful to build a spanner board along the edge of your bed to kneel on or to set you buckets on. This is just a board that runs the length of the bed but is laid flat across the top of the bed so that it acts as a shelf.
Be careful using mulch between your beds
The only reason I mention this at all is because I hate weeds and have learned that sometimes mulch contains weed seeds. The reason that I typically use mulch is so that I don’t have to weed between my beds but if the mulch comes pre-seeded, that kind of defeats the purpose.
Ask the dealer if they know anything about this or have received any complaints if it matters to you. It really isn’t a big deal but I thought it was worth mentioning.
What is a root barrier and do you need one?
First, let’s explain why roots are bad. The roots of trees and shrubs are attracted to the moisture and nutrients in your raised beds and will grow to them, sucking the nutrients out of the soil before your plants can get them. Now, what’s a root barrier and do you need one?
A root barrier is built between the trees and your raised bed gardens by digging a trench 4-6 feet deep and lining it with roofing metal or the like so that the roots can’t reach your beds. If you’re building serious beds that you plan to use for a long time, then you may want to do this.
If it’s just a hobby, you don’t need to unless you just want to. Try to put your beds far enough away from trees or shrubs that this won’t be an issue.
What are some standard measurements?
These are your beds so you can build them however you want but you need to make sure that you can reach the center of the bed without walking on the soil and you need to make sure that your spot has the right amount of sunshine.
Standard raised beds are 4-6 feet wide by 8-12 feet long. You need to allow plenty of room to put that rich, nutritious soil in, so make the sides at least 12 inches tall and break up the soil at the bottom at least 6 inches down, and preferably 12-16 inches down, before you add the dirt so that you get proper aeration and can remove rocks and roots.
Trellises are awesome
If you’re planting vining plants such as tomatoes, save space and veggie rot by adding some trellises into your raised beds. Trellises can be as simple as using wooden stakes or actual pieces of trellis buried into the soil. As the plant grows, feed them up the trellis, tying them loosely as they grow. This will increase your yield and also make it easier to trim the sucker leaves off of your plants.
Raised bed gardens are as unique as the person who builds them. They’re awesome for both experienced gardeners and newbies alike and are a great way to grow your own food in limited spaces. You’ll probably make a few mistakes and have some growing pains as you learn, but that’s all part of becoming really good at it.
If you’re worried about survival, you’ll already be ahead of the pack if you have a garden started, even if it’s just a little one. Regardless of why you want to build your own raised bed garden, eating a fresh tomato from your own garden will be well worth the effort!
So true. All that’s necessary is one side to start a fight. The other side will face a conflict whether they want it or not. That’s what the population in western countries is facing today. The vast majority of us have no idea there is even a conflict between us, let alone that these people want to orchestrate the world’s biggest genocide. So it’s critical that we discover who these people are and what’s really motivating them. Because we’ll surely end up dead if we don’t know what we’re up against.
Why have these people sworn in secret to be our enemies? Why are they doing this? Their beliefs seem so illogical to our way of thinking that it’s hard for us to understand them—or even believe that is possible. Of course, anyone who doesn’t know his enemy, and how he’s making war on you, you will soon be defeated. But these people, who have great wealth and influence, do exist and they want to enslave and destroy us. So understanding their mindset is essential and their strategy is essential to grasping what’s really happening.
The Rich Are Different
Those who are filthy rich (as in multi-millions and even billions) are indeed different from the rest of us. From their earliest moments they do not need to worry or even think about those things which consume us. No wondering where their next meal will come from. No fretting about getting ahead. No wondering about what to wear or how to keep the house warm. Those living in a world of privilege have a dramatically distant world view from what we the “common people” experience. They cannot relate to any of us, nor we to them.
When you are decadently wealthy, your biggest problem is often how to keep yourself amused. This causes many wealthy to be focused upon feeding their depravities. All sorts of sexual deviations become fair game for those with money. Any perversion is fair game, including using young children. And if they should step over the line—by society’s standards—and their secret deeds are exposed—no problem. Their wealth can buy them out of trouble. When you have this much money, morality is turned upside down. Good becomes evil. And evil looks good. The rich often have a skewed morality; they are taught from an early age that you don’t have to answer to anyone, not even to God.
Now these elitist moguls love accumulating money, not because they need it, but because it’s like a sporting contest. Winning is their way of “keeping score” to prove that they’re superior. In the end, many of these people end up seeing themselves as gods, able to control the destiny of all the “little people” because they truly perceive of themselves to be a master race of humans.
Now if you believe that man is just an intelligent animal, that there is no God to punish evil, and in fact that evil doesn’t even exist—it radically changes how you perceive of the world. Lies, treachery, theft and even genocidal murder are no longer “sins.” They are just part of the survival of the fittest. So the rich elitist sees himself and the rest of the world and all of its billions of children as messing up his planet. As the years pass by and population growth has begun to accelerate even faster, we discover that the globalists have become ever more passionate about the need to “depopulate” the planet.
While globalist sometimes give lip service to religion (to keep good public relations) the reality is that many of the rich embrace a godless Darwinian religion. They so often belief that those with superior intelligence (and who have proven it by their accumulation of wealth) were meant to triumph over others. This gave the early robber barons a mindset ripe for the adoption of a pseudo science called eugenics, which seeks to destroy “inferior races” and the mentally disabled by compulsory sterilization, and murdering babies within the womb (among other things). Eventually, hardcore elitists start to dedicate billions of their excess dollars to changing the world in tangible ways.
Eugenics, Population Control, and Global Totalitarianism (Part 2 of 5) - YouTube
The Main “Cause” For the Rich
So many of those with immense wealth have become incredibly evangelistic in their perceived solution of the problem of overpopulation. And so they begin to embrace devious ways to eradicate all the “lesser people” from their earth. Possessing massive amounts of money has ultimately been a spiritual cancer upon the lives of these people. It quickly tramples any rationality under a truly satanic mindset. They want to kill and destroy most of mankind so that they can create a world which is in tune with their own depraved thinking. So now, let’s get more specific.
Men like Bill Gates (of Microsoft) and Ted Turner (of Times Warner/CNN, have pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps to immense wealth. They are newly rich but they have quickly embraced all of the evil that comes with immense wealth. In both cases, these men have announced in their propaganda that they have dedicated their lives and their fortunes towards “giving back”. The reality is far more sinister.
Turner has been open about his desires to see world population fall below 1 billion (which logically means that six billion people have to die). He is buying up vast tracts of lands in the US to keep them just for animals. He is an open globalist who has committed his vast wealth toward the fulfillment of the UN Agenda 21 (which I’ll talk more about below). There are a number of YouTube clips which show Turner talking about the need to depopulate the world and he says it with great passion.
Bill Gates (who attended Bilderberg in 2010) and his foundation are on a campaign to vaccinate and depopulate the world (against its knowledge or wishes), in order to save the world for himself and his ilk. He is fully aware that the vaccinations contain both mercury and other strains which will abort any baby a woman is carrying and render her sterile.
Families like the Rockefellers have had wealth for several generations and it has thoroughly corrupted them, as it certainly did in the case with John D. Rockefeller (the founder of the dynasty). John D. was a life-long Baptist, yet he followed unscrupulous marketing methods, espionage, price wars and ruthless practices to drive all his competitors out of business. He admitted that he viewed business as being merely the survival of the fittest. He also adopted and was instrumental in promotion Darwinian eugenics within the United States and around the world. As he became the world’s richest man, he used his wealth to finance (among other things) the eugenics movement in Germany, helping Adolph Hitler rise to power and destroy millions of so-called inferior people.
His son John D. Jr. continued on with his father’s agenda, financing all of the early abortion and eugenics programs worldwide, including Planned Parenthood. His son, David Rockefeller, is one of the founding members of the Bilderberg Group—the foremost globalist organization in the world—and even in his nineties he is still an active leader in the organization. David admitted: “Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States characterizing my family and me as internationalists and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure; one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.” He has also stated: “We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order!“
So David Rockefeller, who is a major leader of the shadow government, readily admits that he and his family and other members of the globalist elite are conspiring with others around the world to build a one world political and economic structure that will squash the United States. And feels that they just need the right major world crisis to turn their dream of a one world order into reality!
The egotistical depravity of this family is unbelievable. The Rockefeller Foundation, founded by John D., not only financed the Nazis, it has supported abortion and forced sterilization all over the world. Their eugenics research within Germany, which strongly encouraged the horrendous experiments in the slave labor camps, encouraged the genocide that Hitler used to destroy 10 million people who were deemed inferior.
After World War 2, to avoid any connection with the discredited Nazis, the Rockefellers changed the Eugenics Society to the Society for the Study of Social Biology. But nothing changed in its agenda. They continued to push eugenics. For the Rockefellers, abortion has nothing to do with “choice” or empowering women—it is about controlling the masses and cutting down the size of the US population. The following video clip gives more about the background of eugenics and how the Rockefellers attempted to distance themselves from eugenics after the war. Also see where eugenics has led the globalists since.
Eugenics, Population Control, and Global Totalitarianism (Part 3 of 5) - YouTube
After World War 2 the globalists championed Mao Tse Tung and secretly funded his revolution. China has actually been the globalist’s laboratory where their heinous crimes enjoyed the full support and sanction of the globalists. After Mao slaughtered well over 60 million of his own people in his cultural revolution, Rockefeller stated, “Whatever the price of the
Chinese Revolution, it has obviously succeeded not only in producing more efficient and dedicated administration, but also in fostering high morale and community of purpose… The social experiment in China under Chairman Mao’s leadership is one of the most important and successful in human history.”
China’s one child policy came about after heavy pressure from Planned Parenthood and the United Nations, both heavily funded by the Rockefellers. Globalists can now purchase live organs taken from Chinese prisoners in a kill-on-demand program if they need to replace their own diseased organs. This is all acceptable as part of their eugenics mentality. The Chinese have been able to aggressively follow the globalist blueprint by ruthlessly countless millions of their own people, especially the aged and infirm. Why? Because the west has supported and even financed their treacherous deeds: “Depopulation should be the highest priority of foreign policy towards the third world,” said Henry Kissinger (another well known globalist who is shown talking to Mao in the photo illustration above).
David Rockefeller spoke candidly about his globalist Trilateral Commission (which is an offshoot of the Bilderberg Group) and how they have managed to stay under the radar. This happened in major part because he and his fellow conspirators own all of the mass media.
“We are grateful to the Washington Post, the NY Times, Time Magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But now the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supra national sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”
Note that last sentence. He thinks that the super national sovereignty imposed by an intellectual elite along with the world bankers is surely preferable to our self rule which we’ve practiced for centuries. The arrogance of this man and his fellow globalist plotters is truly stunning. No one elected them to redefine the world’s power structure. No one appointed them to work illegally behind the scenes to bring about a bloody world revolution that would bring them to the pinnacle of power. But that’s exactly what they’ve been working on all these years.
I hope this gives you just a small idea of the mindset of these people who are dedicated to reshaping the world into their own image. But you might be thinking, how can these globalists have so much control over the world? Immense wealth can certainly buy political leaders who know where the wealth came from that put them into their jobs. By inviting select politicians into the halls of power, they seduce these leaders into the club and insure for themselves that their governments marching in the direction that globalists desire. And that is exactly what has happened with multitudes of western world leaders, but especially in America. Every US President since Kennedy. has been in alliance with these globalists. Kennedy saw their agenda and was planning to expose their plot before he was assassinated. Note the quote above.
All of these Presidents, to a greater or lesser degree, have pushed the globalist agenda. The Bush family, through Prescott (the father of George HW Bush) was another major financial supporter helping to achieve the rise of Adolph Hitler. George senior was the first American Presidentto actually use the term “New World Order” in many of his speeches. He is the one who brought in Agenda 21 (which was eventually passed by executive order by Bill Clinton).
Bush’s son, President George W. Bush gave us 911. Make no mistake about the f
act that this attack was engineered by the globalists. The bankers all knew about it in advance and profited by it(. You can read up on that if you don’t believe it; lots of “puts” were placed in the stock market against American Airlines and United. There was definitely insider trading that went on which would not have happened if Muslims had engineered the attack) Watch the following short interview with the late Aaron Russo who was a friend of elitist Nicholas Rockefeller. Hear how he was told of the event eleven months before it happened. He offers a fascinating insight into the mindset of the lesser known Rockefeller and their globalist mentality:
Nicholas Rockefeller admitted the elite's goal is a 100% microchipped and enslaved World population - YouTube
Of course, after 911, Bush Jr. presided over the establishment of so many of the draconian laws which have robbed the United States of its basic freedoms. After 911, the Bush administration turned America into a police state. But this latter Bush has been outdone by the last American President—Barack Obama. Unless Obama is slowed or stopped, there will be no more American Presidents.
The UN and the Globalists
The plot thickens when you understand that the globalists virtually own the United Nations. John D Rockefeller Jr. donated the land upon which the United Nations building sits in `New York City. The UN is totally committed to creating a globalist one world government, marrying all of the different countries into one government. And all the mega rich bank owners, who have financed the UN right from the beginning, will then be able to quietly pull all of the strings on the world. The UN is the main vehicle that’s being used to bring the US and the world under global domination. They have already offered our sovereignty and our weapons over to the UN. They just need to get the population to go along with it. Once the UN has control, we will no longer have any freedom; most of us will end up dead.
I always assumed the UN was created to maintain world peace. Not so. That’s only a cover story. This organization was dedicated, right from the beginning, to be used for fulfilling the radical globalist world takeover. It was financed with the robber baron’s money and that means the elitist golden rule applies: “He who owns the gold writes the rules.” The globalists have used their gold to write the UN’s mission. This organization is on a collision course with the world; it wants to dominate all peoples, bringing them under their holocaust agenda.
While they don’t openly explain this of course, neither do they fully conceal it. They have written it down in detail in Agenda 21. This calls for “sustainable development” which sounds reasonable enough. But what that really means is that the world as it is now will need to be destroyed. And with that destruction will come the deaths of billions of people.
Alexander Cain. I am a theology professor working at one of the largest universities in Arkansas. I earned a doctor’s degree in archeology and ancient history and have dedicated more than 17 years of my life to the study of the most cryptic texts of the Bible. What I discovered will send shivers down the spine of every true Christian and Patriot... because inside the final chapters of the Holy Book, the prophets give a very precise account of what is happening in America at this very moment… And they foretell a very dark and sinister fate for our great country…
We don’t have to guess where this is all headed. These men who have financed the holocausts in Germany and China have already cost countless millions of lives. These banker crooks have illegally used their billions to finance crimes against humanity. Genocide plain and simple. They are now herding all of the naive and trusting people of the world towards the cliff. Their diabolical plan is to usher in their version of a “final solution” for world overpopulation.
In Agenda 21, which is the UN final solution paper. This monstrosity is an absolutely wretched work. For this to be implemented, there will need to be a radical reworking of society and of the human brain. For this to function, the family must be destroyed. Children must become wards of the state, reprogrammed to accept the globalist propaganda. Education must be dumbed down and thinking must be discouraged because independence, intelligence and creativity all work against this totalitarian system. To buy into this, the concept of a knowable rational truth must be abandoned. Consensus is more important than reality or facts or truth.
All national sovereignty must be eliminated. All private property must end. All religions must be abolished in favor of the UN state religion. And knowing all of this, it quickly becomes obvious that the only way Agenda 21 can actually be made to work is for their to be a wholesale massacre of all those who oppose it. Those who remain alive will be drugged to pacify their rebellious nature, while they are slowly killed off by all of the slow acting poisons within their food and water. This will be done to thin down the present population to a manageable billion or half that of “beautiful people” that the elitists can milk and use as they see fit.
Eventually, the limited future population will belong to the children who they have brainwashed into fully accepting their globalist world fantasy. Read Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” which long ago described the final end product. Huxley was himself a globalist and he admitted that his novel was not really a work of fiction. It was a dramatized version of the state of Nirvana which globalists have been planning for the planet.
The Agenda 21 document is ludicrous because these people are deadly serious about pushing this horrendous agenda upon the rest of us. All across America, communities are being encouraged to put its tenets into practice. Watch this short video where locals expose what they discovered about Agenda 21 in their community. And many expressed their outrage.
AGENDA 21: THE AGENDA TO TRACK AND CONTROL YOUR EVERY MOVEMENT AND EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE. - YouTube
I hope this article has helped give you the bigger picture of why the globalists are at war with us and what their plans are. I hope you see that this is not a child’s enemy that we are up against. It is like coming face to face with the devil. But if you’re like the typical American, like me, you probably have a tendency to assume that all of this will never really happen. If you believe, you’re simply a fool.
These globalist fat cats have been using their robber baron capital to build an army of paid disciples willing to attack the world to push their depopulation gospel. These people have worked tirelessly establishing globalist networks while we’ve been busy trying to make a living. And as of today, they have made incredible inroads into America.
All of our Presidents have either been bought off or they were selected because they had the seeds of globalist arrogance in their blood. Everything that Barack Obama is now doing, without exception, is designed towards reaching these new world goals and ushering in the new globalist autocracy. The President promised us that he would fundamentally transform America, and that’s one promise he wants to keep.
Will the UN Ride in On a White Truck to “Save Us”?
Take the current crisis of illegal aliens that are flooding into our southern US border right now. Our border agents have been told to stand down and let them pass. Buses and short term housing is already all set up for them, hauling the illegals all over the country. If you look carefully beyond the mainstream news media, you’ll discover that this has all been orchestrated by Obama. Months ago he signed an executive order saying that children could stay and announced it in Latin America. The CIA put ads in Central America looking for escorts to bring children through Mexico and right up to our borders. So this is all a set up. Obama admits he knows full well what’s going on—because he created this situation.
So what we have here is a humanitarian crisis—manufactured by the White House.
As a side note, there are thousands of brand new UN vehicles already inside of the US. Where did they come from? Why are they..
Editor’s Note: If a disaster is bad enough and lasts long enough, it isn’t going to take long before there is no food to be had. In this interview with Selco, he shares his real-life experiences and explains how people kept from starving to death when there was no food in the stores. ~ Daisy
How do you get food when there are no stores?
At the beginning of everything, most of the people did not have any significant “stash” of food in their homes.
In other words, the majority of common folks had food a or couple of days in their pantry and that was it. There were exceptions to that because the process of collapse did not happen in a few hours (in terms of suddenly there is no food in the stores).
When the chaos started, people looted stores after a short period of everyone buying things in a panic. Still, the majority of folks did not manage to get a decent stash of food from stores. Some did not want to believe that they were gonna need a stash. Others did not want to go out and participate in looting because it was dangerous. But I think the most obvious reason was that all food from stores was taken very fast.
In beginning period of SHTF, events unfold at a very fast pace. Actually, events go one after another so fast that if you find yourself lost in one event at the end of several events, you ask yourself, “Why in the name of God I did not go out and buy a whole bunch of food while I still could do that?”
Was gardening an option? If so, how did people protect their gardens?
Yes, it was an option, but the percentage of food from a garden was low because of a few reasons.
It was a city, without enough land for significant food growing, and the second reason is that even people who had some land (small gardens near houses) needed time to grow food there.
People usually did not grow food there in normal times, flowers, tea, maybe some particular kind of tomato, salad greens, and similar.
I remember going and checking gardens for tomatoes because people had tried some new sort of tomato close to their home, not as a way to have food, but as an attempt so they could see is if it was OK to have it somewhere before they had a bigger piece of land for growing (before SHTF in a peacetime).
So yes, gardening was an option, people used every part of the available land, but that was not enough, and it was like you are checking every day how your tomato is growing and you wait for it, but then you pick it and realize you have food for only a couple of days.
We were not prepared at the time to use every piece of land for food growing. It takes time to establish that.
Still, it was precious, and it was protected of course, just like your home, in the same way.
How often did MREs get dropped?
There was no schedule for food drops, at least no real schedule because it was all based on rumors like, “Tonight they are gonna drop food from airplanes.” If you asked, “Who told you that?” the answer was “a guy who heard it from guy who heard…” So, of course, it was completely based on luck.
Sometimes, it would “fall down” every second night, or you heard it had fallen somewhere, it would be “I heard it from a guy who heard it…”
Sometimes it was 3-4 times per week. Of course, they dropped it, but that does not mean we could find any of the food. Other people would simply grab it before you.
Some folks headed for the hills every night in order to wait. People would choose one guy from family to go up every night and wait.
If those food drops had any schedule there where they loaded planes (as I understand later, the place was in an air base in Italy) it was completely lost on us down in the city in the chaos and empire of rumors.
You need to understand that in that time those planes were not the only ones to fly, so sometimes we were out waiting for food but actually other planes bombarded us.
But very early we learned to recognize the low humming sound of food planes, distant but powerful.
Now when I look back, it is weird how we trusted some of that information. For example, if we heard that food was gonna be dropped that night in some particular part of the city, some small area of some hill, people would go there.
A reasonable man would have thought, “Oh, so some poor ragged guy in the middle of civil war and information blockade suddenly has info on where several huge military airplanes are gonna do some operation?” Not to mention the fact that the whole city together with all the hills looked to those people in the airplanes like small dots.
It was nonsense. But we were hungry, scared, and in the middle of chaos without any real information, so people trusted in a lot of things, especially in good news.
Do not underestimate the power of rumors in hard times.
“Food drops” were performed for many cities in this area during the hardest part of the war. They helped on different levels.
Even today I find one of the happiest sounds to be the sound of MREs raining on a hard surface. I did not know the technical details (and still don’t) of how exactly that worked, but most of the things that were dropped would break apart in the air, so on the ground, it would “rain”.
It was like a lottery to be in the middle of that rain because the MREs were good stuff, and valuable, but some of the bigger stuff coming down could kill people. (It happened with bigger packages).
MREs were meals all in one package: food, sweet stuff, matches, even that hot sauce that was pretty handy when we want to add taste to some weird food that we ate or to mask a bad taste.
What food were you able to forage?
When it comes to foraging for plants, I know it is a popular opinion in some circles that you can survive and live by foraging.
In terms of urban survival, it is, in my opinion, overestimated if you are an average man.
Maybe it would work if you have lots of knowledge about edible plants, and maybe if you have many resources of those plants and are in the wilderness.
We were average urban folks. Our knowledge about edible plants was limited to the one or two usable plants that could be used for homemade tea.
For example yes, we used pine needles for tea. It sounds great today, it is good healthy tea with vitamins and so on, but you can not live on it, it can be in addition to your food, but not your main resource.
Older folks jumped in with their knowledge. They were folks that in those times remembered WW2 and hunger, and people usually listened to them when it came to what plant you could use for food.
Plants like nettle and dandelion were used, and in the worst periods, people simply started to use any available grass mixed with small amount of flour.
Eating plants and herbs in that time was not a case of healthy living. It was a matter of not having anything else to eat.
Were you able to scavenge for food from deserted buildings?
When the SHTF, especially in the beginning, some houses became empty. People left or died inside (for whatever reason, for example, shelling). Then folks would go through the empty houses and scavenge for food.
One memory from that time is the endless stench of rotten food (there was no electricity for the fridges). In the beginning, you could find food on that way.
If you were lucky sometimes you could find a bigger amount of food. Sometimes you came upon a house where the ex-occupant clearly hoarded food in the first days of rioting.
That period of time did not last for long. The stench of rotten food was pretty much substituted with another kind of stench. Soon there were more dead people then spoiled food in the city.
But even later, you would never know what you could find in destroyed and abandoned houses. Maybe few cans of food hidden or forgotten somewhere under the rubble, or in a destroyed fridge.
One thing interesting from that period (when it comes to scavenging) and also very important in prepper terms is that I witnessed and was part of something that I can call the transition of scavenging or maybe resetting the values of goods.
It goes something like this:
First people ran riot on stores and looked for valuables like gold, money, TVs, stereos, cars…then as they realized the situation, they looked for weapons, fuel, then candles, batteries, and food, then they’d dig up some gardens for few potatoes.
People needed some time to realize what was really important. It didn’t take very long but sometimes even a few days or a week is important.
I have seen people running from a mall with items that, in few days, would become most ridiculous items to possess (and to take from a burning mall) in the middle of a collapse, things like a TV or a laundry machine or a music collection of a famous band.
The majority of people could not imagine what was coming, so they could not fathom that a bag full of AA batteries was gonna worth more than 50 laundry machines.
For example, the laundry machine was usable only to plug a hole in the wall from shelling or to reinforce the door.
I am not advocating that you go out rioting and taking stuff from malls and stores when SHTF, but let’s say that if you find yourself there, think about what is useful to take in prepper terms.
Here is one example: if the SHTF again here, there is parking machine in front of my home that gives you an automatic ticket when you sin here insert coins. As soon as I see someone busting it open to take money from inside I will go and take the small solar panel from it (it is solar power operated). While other people think about money inside, I am thinking about solar power on the outside of it.
Where you able to hunt or trap anything for meat?
It was the city, so hunting or trapping anything more complicated than a pigeon was not really an option. The other reason was that it was city in the middle of a war, so real trapping had its own complications like shelling, constant noises, and similar.
If your situation is extreme, hunting or trapping can be about trapping pigeons or shooting a stray dog.
What are some things you can eat that most people wouldn’t think of as food?
It is a matter of levels. Sometimes I get questions over mail asking if we had cases of cannibalism, and the answer is no. People need to realize that the road to that extreme is very, very long.
There are many bad things to eat before getting to that extreme (even if you are willing to go there) and people do not realize that.
I ate spoiled and old food of different kinds, expired food (cans of cookies from military storages that were expired for decades), food with worms (cooked together with those expired cans), grass that was boiled in water, leaves from trees. We ate different kind of meat, pigeon for sure, and I am quite positive cat meat once, and rat meat once probably.
How did you extend food to make it feed more people?
Over time, it gets important to have some food, or in other words to have your belly “full” of something so easiest solutions were to water food down, or to mix it with plants.
In other words, we ate a lot of “soups.” For example, if we had a small amount of meat and rice, but we have water and some plants, we would make a big pot of soup.
In some cases it looked more like tea (a lot of hot water with a small amount of food inside) but it solved the problem of how to make something big out of small amounts of something.
When a situation is hard – when it is hard and demanding on both psychological and physical way – you cannot really ration yourself. You need to eat something, because of the simple fact that you can not operate if you are not fed. So we ate a lot of very low quality food, and yes we were always more or less hungry.
How did you cook food without power?
We cooked with fire, a stove that used wood, and often an open fire in the yard. It was a constant equation of heating and cooking with low wood resources.
Again, it was a matter of levels, so there were people who “owned” the black market (people with strong organizations, firepower, and connections). Sometimes they dictated the “pricing” of food in the city, and sometimes there were common folks who could offered you few cans of meat or two MREs from their stash.
Sometimes you could run into a man who was offering you “powdered eggs” but in a dark, not secure environment (you are trading with unknown armed people for example), you needed to be sure it is not some useless powder.
There were scams and you needed to be sure who you were trading with, how secure the place was, and what you were actually trading for.
How much of your time was taken up with acquiring and preparing food?
It was a matter of economic thinking. It was not about making it delicious because we had scarce resources like wood for fire. and simply because often it was impossible to make it delicious.
It was brought down to the level of getting your stomach full of something so you can continue to operate one more day.
Things to know about eating when the SHTF
There are options of foraging for edible plants and hunting or trapping some animals in the city when the SHTF, but do not count on that as the main resource for your food, not in the long run.
Acquiring food in urban settings comes down to the idea of taking food from other people – either people that are not there anymore (empty houses) or people that are still there (through the trade or attack).
All of the above options (just like lot of other prepper activities when SHTF) usually are not fancy and romantic/friendly.
When scavenging through deserted places, you can get injured and that injury can get complicated when there is no medical care. During a trade, you can get scammed, ripped off, or simply attacked and injured or killed because of the resources you possess in that moment or due to a lack of careful planning.
By attacking other people to get food (if you find yourself that desperate or if you wish to go that way) you are risking, of course, being killed.
In the end, it comes again to the idea that you need to be prepared very well for SHTF with your stash of food or your small garden where you are gonna choose what to have and how to use it in the most efficient way. You should minimize the need to go out and scavenge, at least until, you figure out some things.

The World Health Organization has highlighted the potential danger of a deadly, as-yet-unknown pathogen.
Each year, the global health body convenes a meeting of senior scientists in an effort to put together a concise list of the most likely diseases to cause a major international public health emergency.
While it isn’t surprising to see viruses such as Zika and Ebola make it on to the list, this time around something unexpected has been added – a mysterious malady referred to only as ‘Disease X’.
As it turns out however, this unspecified disease is actually a placeholder.
“Disease X represents the knowledge that a serious international epidemic could be caused by a pathogen currently unknown to cause human disease,” WHO said in a statement.
With the potential for gene editing to produce a disease far deadlier than anything ever seen before, it is not difficult to see why health authorities are being advised to expect the unexpected.
“History tells us that it is likely the next big outbreak will be something we have not seen before,” said John-Arne Rottingen, chief executive of the Research Council of Norway.
“It may seem strange to be adding an ‘X’ but the point is make sure we prepare and plan flexibly in terms of vaccines and diagnostic tests.”
“We want to see ‘plug and play’ platforms developed which will work for any, or a wide number of diseases; systems that will allow us to create countermeasures at speed.”
Norwegian scientist and WHO adviser John-Arne Rottingen told The Daily Telegraph it represents the importance of flexibility in vaccines and diagnostic tests.
Disease X could arise out of man-made means rather than from nature.
It is feared that chemical and biological weapons are increasingly being produced and used.
And they could be especially dangerous because humans have not built up any resistance to them over time, so can spread rapidly.

The Conspiracy Of The New World Order World War 3 The Secret
The genocidal depopulation plan generally involves poisoning or sterilizing people through the use of chem. trails or water fluoridation. Agribusinesses transnational like Monsanto are often implicated in some sort of scheme to monopolize the world’s food supply so it can be easily tainted with deadly toxins. Just about anything that can be said to involve “chemicals” can be implicated in this nefarious scheme: vaccines, alleged covert geo-engineering schemes, genetically modified food, etc.
The WHO is worried a new international public health crisis could come from any direction.
The flu virus continues to rapidly mutate and new exotic pathogens keep jumping to humans from animals.
“These diseases pose major public health risks, and further research and development is needed, including surveillance and diagnostics,” it states.
But a recent explosion in gene editing technology — such as CRISPR — has come at a bad time.
It highlights how post-World War II taboos against the use of nerve and poison gas, as well as weaponised bacteria and viruses, have been breaking down.
North Korea stands accused of using a nerve agent to kill the brother of their leader, Kim Jong-un.
Russia stands accused of using a radioactive substance to murder a former spy in Britain in 2006. It’s again been implicated in a nerve-agent attack on another spy, Sergei Skripal, earlier this month.
Syria — after promising to hand over all its chemical weapons several years ago — is once again being accused of unleashing toxic substances against its own population in towns and suburbs under the control of rebel forces.
The WHO points out that synthetic diseases will face no natural immunity in the world’s population. Nobody has ever been exposed to them before. So their immune systems haven’t found any weak spots in such a disease.
This means a deliberate outbreak is likely to spread fast, with a high level of fatality.
And the increasing ease with which genetic material can be crafted makes the likelihood of a ‘rogue’ researcher crafting biological weapons that much more likely.
