Collect, Battle, Achieve!
In addition to the upcoming Stratholme Pet Dungeon, there will be lots of pet-related activities to complete in the 2 new zones, Mechagon and Nazjatar in Patch 8.2.
Collectors will have their hands full with a total of 23 new wild pets found in the two new zones — 11 from Nazjatar and 12 from Mechagon (examples pictured below).
A few of these pets from each of the zones are either especially difficult to find (very low spawn chance) or single-spawns (only one up at a time). All wild pets on Nazjatar and Mechagon spawn in as level 25.
Rarer wild spawns (Nazjatar)
Rarer wild spawns (Mechagon)
Additionally, many Nazjatar and Mechagon wild pets come in multiple colors and breeds.
A few of wild pets from Mechagon will also have a chance to spawn inside the megadungeon, Operation: Mechagon. The dungeon has an outdoor area where wild pets can (rarely) appear. There are additional wild pets to capture further inside the dungeon, however they are not required for any achievement.
Likewise, there are more wild battle pets to collect from inside the upcoming raid (example pictured right), The Eternal Palace, but these are not part of any achievement.
Collecting one of each from Nazjatar will reward Nazjatari Safari, and capturing one of each wild pet from Mechagon will reward the achievement Mecha-Safari. Both of these achievements are part of a meta-achievement, more on this down below.
Battlers will find new challenges on both Nazjatar and Mechagon.
Defeat 12 legendary level 25 "boss" pets on Nazjatar to earn Nautical Nuisances of Nazjatar. Each of these NPCs can be battled at any time and are repeatable, however there will also be a World Quest associated with one each day. Each one will drop a one-time quest item (rewards a nice chunk of reputation) after they've been defeated for the first time.
Meanwhile, earn Mighty Minions of Mechagon by defeating all 8 legendary level 25 "boss" pets on Mechagon. These NPCs share the same properties as the Nazjatar pets; repeatable, can be battled at any time, and drops a one-time quest.
Earning all 4 achievements listed above will complete the meta-achievement, Team Aquashock, which awards an adorable baby naga pet, Kelpfin!
Looking for more? On top of new wild battle pets to capture and boss pets to defeat, there are many more pets to find and collect in both zones!

Blizzard recently announced that they will be putting the Recruit-A-Friend program on hiatus, starting June 11, 2019, for an indeterminate period of time. [source]
Recruit-A-Friend (RAF) is heading into the workshop! The longstanding RAF program is going on hiatus while we construct something new that makes it even more rewarding to introduce your friends to World of Warcraft. As of June 11, 2019, the current program will come to an end, and you’ll no longer be able to send new RAF invitations. Don’t worry though—the program will be back in its new form before you know it.
To take advantage of the current RAF program, your friend will need to link a qualifying WoW account to yours before June 11, and will have 90 days to purchase game time to trigger any rewards.* Check out the RAF web page for the details on the current program and the available rewards.
We look forward to sharing the details of the new RAF program with you in the future!
*Recruited friends must not already have a World of Warcraft account, or their account must be fewer than 30 days old. Link period lasts for 90 days after your friend's account was first created.
There are currently 4 battle pet rewards (pictured above) from Recruit-A-Friend (plus 5 mounts). The pets are BoP and cannot be caged.
Stratholme Pet Dungeon is finally open for testing on the 8.2 PTR! We dove right in and here are some insights on what to expect — SPOILERS ahead!
Note that due to the nature of the PTR, the following may not be final and could change prior to release.
Tiny Take-Over Of Stratholme
Word around town is that something sinister is happening in a certain ruined city in northern Eastern Plaguelands. Who or what could overtake an already diseased and Undead-overrun place like Stratholme? Let's send in our battle pets to find out!
In Patch 8.2, level 120 Horde can speak with Radek Fuselock (nearby Happy Holaua) in Dazar'alor, and level 120 Alliance can talk to Tizzy Gearjolt (outside Dana Pull's store) in Boralus to pick up the breadcrumb quest, 'Restless Dead', which leads to Argent Crusade member Sean Wilkers, just outside of backdoor Stratholme.
In addition to being a quest NPC, he is also the Stratholme Pet Dungeon vendor. Unlike previous Pet Dungeons that offered only 3 pets to purchase, Sean Wilkers sells a total of 4 new pets, plus an Unopened Stratholme Supply Crate.
Each pet will require Cleansed Remains, is Bind On Pick Up, and cannot be caged. Players will need a total of 9 Cleansed Remains to buy one of each pet.
After completing 'Restless Dead', the next quest is 'Tiny Terrors of Stratholme'. Completing it will reward an Ultimate Battle-Training Stone, and the ability to teleport using Manapoof directly to backdoor Stratholme.
The challenge version of this Pet Dungeon is also unlocked upon turning in 'Tiny Terrors of Stratholme'. Pick up and complete the account-wide weekly quest, 'Pet Battle Challenge: Stratholme', to earn Cleansed Remains.
Same as previous Pet Dungeons, completing the Challenge version of the scenario will award an achievement of the same name and players will earn a new pet. The pet reward this time is Minimancer (pictured left)!
Inside Stratholme Pet Dungeon
The Stratholme Pet Dungeon has a total of 11 stages. Enemy pet teams are a mix of Undead, Magic, Dragonkin, and Beast families, plus a few battles have an additional twist to them!
There are 11 pet encounters — all enemy pets are level 25. Here's a quick breakdown of each stage.
Stage 1 - Belchling (Rare Magic pet with 2 rare adds)
Users can now support WarcraftPets by pledging at various tiers. Each tier will unlock a specific WarcraftPets Discord rank, plus access to Patreon-only content.
$1/month - Pet Tamer
$5/month - Master Pet Tamer
$10/month - Grand Master Tamer
$25/month - Legendary Tamer
Our goal is to give users a convenient way to help support the site, but to also give back to the community. The support generated from Patreon will be used to help fund future contests, giveaways and more!
While Patreon ranks will be exclusive to the WarcraftPets Discord, Site MVPs will be granted full access to Patreon contests and giveaways via a Patron-only Discord channel. Users will need to provide evidence of their Site MVP status to a Discord administrator to gain access to this special channel.
As a Site MVP, use this form to request access to the Patron-chat Discord channel. Note that due to technical limitations, non-Patreon pledges will be unable to view or participate on polls and posts on Patreon itself.
That said, the money generated through Patreon is what will fund these community perks. So if you are a Site MVP and you intend to participate in the Patron-only content, we’d absolutely appreciate an additional monthly contribution if you can swing it.
Tuskarr Kite Giveaway
Sawfty, our WarcraftPets Discord administrator, is generously hosting our first Patreon pet giveaway in Discord! Patrons and Site MVPs can enter for a chance to win a Tuskarr Kite.
The giveaway ends in roughly 2 weeks and is limited to US-only at this time. See the Patron-chat channel in the WarcraftPets Discord for additional information and details. (Site MVPs will need to submit a request form first, as noted above.)
We plan to have more contests and giveaways in the future that include all regions, so stay tuned.
All of us at WarcraftPets are eternally humbled and grateful for everyone's continued support. It is an honor to be able to provide a service for battle pet-enthusiasts, on top of bringing the latest Pet Battle news. Thank you!

8.2 PTR Development Notes
Blizzard released development notes regarding what is currently available for testing on the PTR, and what we can expect in the near future. [source]
Related to battle pets and Pet Battles:
- New Zone: Mechagon - (New April 23) Battle Pets and Pet Battle World Quests
Coming soon to the PTR:
- Pet Battle Dungeon: Stratholme
An improved Bug Report system is currently in place on the PTR, so it should be easier to report any issues and give feedback. The PTR Bug Forum is also a good place to note bugs and provide constructive feedback.
Note that there will be character wipe on the PTR in a few weeks, and testers will need to re-copy their character and account-data.
Blizzard released a preview of what's coming in Patch 8.2, Rise of Azshara. Hosted by Senior Game Designer Jeremy Feasel, the livestream covered many new upcoming features, including a brief glimpse of new pets! [source]
Pet Battles In 8.2
We're looking forward to tons of new collectible pets and Pet Battle content in the next major content patch.
Here is some pet-related content that was mentioned in today's preview.
2 new zones with new rewards, drops, and Timeless Isle-style rarespawns (longer timers, some with unique spawn mechanics, a few very rare)
New Pet Dungeon - Stratholme!
2 new Island Expeditions with new rewards
A new mechanical 'alarm-o-bot' pet from Mechagon, and a slug pet from Nazjatar (pictured above)
Holiday updates, including Brewfest
Note that a few features previewed may not directly tie into Pet Battles, however there's a possibility it's related. There is likely even more content and pets to be discovered as the PTR progresses.
Speaking of the PTR... Patch 8.2 PTR begins next week! We can't wait to get a firsthand look at all of the upcoming pets and Pet Battle adventures, so stay tuned.
The Darkmoon Faire has already come and gone for this month, however starting next month there will be 3 new companions to collect. Enjoy the faire in style with fun balloons!
Each balloon companion (pictured above) will cost 90 Darkmoon Faire tickets each, is Bind On Pick Up, cannot be caged, and cannot battle.
The denizens of Kul Tiras and Zandalar will be celebrating Children's Week this year. There will be 4 new battle pets (one pictured left) to collect during the event in May.
Level 110+ characters can earn these pets by completing the Battle For Azeroth Children's Week quest chain. This can be done on both Alliance and Horde. The quests are not account-wide so they should be doable on multiple characters, making collecting all four pets during the same event possible.
Max level characters can complete a short quest chain to earn the neat mechanical parrot, Feathers (pictured right).
To begin the quest, pick up the breadcrumb quest from an NPC on the main boat at each faction's main hub in Battle For Azeroth. This quest should lead to Kelsey Steelspark (Alliance) or Trade Prince Gallywix (Horde). Players will need to have completed the 8.0 and 8.1 War Campaign storylines first.
The quests continue the story of two particular characters that appeared in the Before the Storm book. For a full walk-through (spoiler alert!), check out Wowhead's Alliance and Horde overview of the quest chain.
Return of the Brawler's Guild
Last but not least, the Brawler's Guild is back. Tylarr Gronnden and Clock'em can be purchased after meeting the requirements (Brawler's Guild - Rank 3).
As with all content patches, there may be a number of undocumented and/or unintended adjustments. We'll have updates should we discover any additional changes, so stay tuned.
A few pet profiles may be incomplete and missing images — we're working on updating those as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience. If you find any other bugs, please report it via our Contact page or Site Bugs and Suggestions forum.
Which battle pet are you most eager to collect in Patch 8.1.5? There are lots to choose from so it might be tough to pick just one!
Created by Aranesh, the site is maintained by a few members in the Pet Battle community. Their passion for Pet Battles means only the best information and guides for fellow battlers!
Learn how to defeat NPCs in zones dating back to Pandaria, how to complete Pet Battle Dungeons, earn Pet Battle achievements, or learn more about which pets are good in Pet PVP.
Detailed guides are explained on a turn-by-turn basis (example pictured right). In the event you might be missing a pet in one of the strategies, there are often multiple possible strategies for any given battle.
Strategies are user-created and tested, and they range from matches using the least number of moves to carrying a low level pet in a trainer encounter. Many guides also include comments and notes that might be useful in especially tough battles.
In addition to guides and strategies, it provides additional features such as TD Scripts and even collection stats.
If you're stumped on a particular trainer battle, look no further than Xu-Fu's Pet Guides. It has a wealth of knowledge that can help in almost any pet encounter!
