When your vacation is all about visiting the same old places over and over again, you may want to visit Jomalig Island for a change.

Jomalig (hu-ma-lig) Island is a lovely patch of land that is yet to be discovered by many sun seekers and adventurers. This paradise is situated in Quezon province and can be accessed by taking a road trip from Manila to Real followed by a boat ride. Traveling there could take eight to 10 hours but the journey is definitely worth it.

At Jomalig Island, you’d pleased to know that there will be plenty of things to do to make the most of your trip. Here are some of them.

1. Go Beach Hopping – Once there, you’ll notice that Jomalig Island’s crowning feature is its golden sand. Salibungot Beach is perhaps its most gorgeous shore because of how its bright sand combines with the blue waters. Another beach to see is Kanaway Beach, which is known for its beautiful rock formations that are very Instagram-worthy. If you’re more into white-sand beaches, Jomalig Island happens to have its very own “Little Boracay,” complete with immaculate sand but without the hordes of tourists.

2. Camping – For those who love the outdoors, Jomalig Island provides many opportunities for camping by the beach. Since electricity is limited on the island, pitching a tent is highly recommended so you can have a comfortable spot to spend the night. You can also bring your own food or buy fresh seafood with the help of the locals.

3. Visit Little Batanes – If you’ve always wanted to see Batanes, Jomalig Island’s Lingayen Cove offers an overlooking view of big waves as well as a white-sand beach along cliffs and rock formations. You’ll feel like you’re at the northernmost part of the Philippines when you feast your eyes on the beauty of the Pacific Ocean.

4. See the Puno ng Walang Forever – If you’re nursing a broken heart, help yourself move on by enjoying the company of Jomalig Island’s most famous plant. It is a single tree located in the middle of a grassy area that emits a melancholic but picturesque mood. Take a photo or two with your squad next to the tree to make it less lonely for the day.

5. Catch the sunrise – Because of the calmness and serenity of Jomalig Island, calling it a day early while there has been common for visitors. The great thing about it is you can wake up to see the glorious sunrise. Soak up the atmosphere during this brief moment before you embark on another day of experiencing the rest of what the island has to offer.

The summer days are about to end. For us travel junkies, it’s a temporary goodbye to those fun times under the sun. But, it’s not yet over. With only a few days left before those dark clouds completely reign supreme, you still have time to invite your friends for an exciting way to close this year’s summer season. Here’s a list of the best ways to make these days worth it.

1. Go trekking – Trekking during summer is definitely more fun especially if you’re chasing the sunrise or sunset. Just imagine feasting your eyes the beauty of your surroundings. In addition, the dry season allows you to climb up and down the mountain without having to walk over muddy paths and numerous puddles.

2. Have a staycation – Staycation is very much trending nowadays because it is easy to pull off and can be as fun as a full on vacation. Nothing beats cooling off from the heat of the weather with an air conditioned room full of amenities, especially that wide screen TV where you can watch your favorite movies and TV series.

3. Go for a road trip – The nice thing about going on a road trip at this time is the traffic situation along NLEX or SLEX will be more manageable compared to the first months of summer. So go ahead and drive along the freeway while listening to your very own travel playlist and enjoying the stopovers.

4. Have a beach day getaway one last time – One can never have too much beach getaways during summer, so you might as well take advantage of the fact that your home country is rich in tropical islands and lovely shores. And with less people this time, you can finally have a more relaxing stay to end vacation season.

5. Go camping – If you love camping, make the most of the remaining sunny days by pitching a tent with your friends in a scenic location. Soak up the surroundings and sleep under the stars at night or have a fun time cooking barbecue before the campfire. When this month ends, you’ll have to wait a while before you can have another perfect camping weather again.
