The production trio who go by the moniker MRGR has released 3 singles that serve as the precursor to their full-length project titled ‘Noisy Neighbours’. The 7 track project showcases the solid production prowess of the producers who blend a healthy dose of Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, and future funk vibes. The UK born Nigerian artist Unchained XL returns with the fourth edition of his self-produced “Weight On My Bars” music series, which sees the rising emcee deliver 48 bars straight with no chaser as he covers a wide range of topics. On the 4th edition, he blends his sharp political commentary with comedic irony using complex rhythms and rhyme schemes over an upbeat bass-laden soundscape. 2018 saw UXL’s reach expand globally, touring the UK with shows in London, Bristol, Sheffield, Leeds, and Cardiff, performing alongside artists such as Mungos HiFi, Afro Cluster, and Eva Lazarus. His 2019 release “The Migrant Mind” EP received global attention after having featured on international blog OkayAfrica due to its poignant commentary on the refugee crisis and violence faced by migrants. Rising Toronto based singer/songwriter Benita makes a grand entry on TWIb with a solid single titled “Simple”. A reckon that really shows her in her element over a soul-filled enthralling soundscape. The angelic-voiced singer packs a punch with her emotion-filled performance as she tries to wade through a not so certain situation.
Growing up in Toronto, she preferred to keep her talents to herself. Benita’s shyness would eventually subside, taking on a bunch of local performances that would eventually provide her with the exposure and confidence she needed to launch a music career. One of her most memorable accomplishments came when she shared the stage with fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar, singing backup vocals on a string of sold-out shows. She also had the pleasure of opening for Kehlani alongside TRP.P at the 2018 Pride Festival in Toronto.
Producer/rapper Neak has always been dishing out solid joints that dwell on personal experiences and his latest release titled “Elevation Everything” takes it to another level. The self-produced track sees the multi-talented act pour his emotions behind the boards and in front of the microphone as well. Backed by a soulful anthemic texture, he takes the listener on a journey as he breaks down his current status alongside the past and everything in between.
‘Elevation Everything’ is the introductory track for his new album, and the lyrics and production personify the truest form of his present emotional state, feelings, and vulnerability as an artist/producer.
The visual directed by Irv Vaz plays out like a one-man concert where Neak loads up the MPC, cranks out a beat and proceeds to share his thoughts with the viewers.
Trax, who is both recognized and respected for his gritty lyrics and skilled production, delivers a track brimming with knocking bass and classic boom bap mixed with innovative tones.
The ‘profit speaks’ about his moves in the industry as an emcee. He mentions being inspired from the dopest and the wackest; taking it all in. He’s below the ground mastering, filling his canvas, and pouring it out on the beat.
The lyrical powerhouse delivers pure earmilk with quick-witted punchlines. His sinister laugh and abyss like voice leave other rappers scattered on the sideline. Stream “Pour It Out” above.
French experimental music project CHEVALIEN return with yet another gripping material titled “Black Speech”. The soundscape used here is dark, cinematic and jarring with the main vocalist screaming at the top of his lungs reminiscent of death metal bands. The visual is particularly out of the box as it strays completely from being crisp or accommodating and aims to keep the viewer glued from start to finish. Using only black and red hues to accentuate the urgency behind the track, the band continue their trend of upsetting the norm.
