Shift Towards Fancy Vehicles to Trigger Sales of Motorcycles Globally

Persistence Market Research (PMR) has published a new report by the title “Motorcycle Market: Global Industry Analysis (2012-2016) and Forecast (2017-2025).” The report states that the global motorcycle market is expected to witness stable growth over the coming years. The increasing inclination of consumers towards the adoption of electric and hybrid electric vehicles is expected to act as a prominent driver for the global motorcycle market. The trend of racing motorcycles with air-cooled engines is expected to intensify in the years ahead with demand from consumers increasing at a rapid pace. According to PMR, the global motorcycle market is expected to witness a CAGR of 4.6% over the course of the forecast period.

Global Motorcycle Market Research Report Overview @ https://www.persistencemarketresearch.com/market-research/motorcycle-market.asp

Demand from Rural Areas and Burgeoning Economic Strength to Propel Market Growth

Owing to increasing disposable income of the rural area consumer and a dearth of a well-established public transport system, the demand for motorcycles and scooters has increased considerably in rural areas. The road infrastructure of rural areas is still in its primitive stage as compared to the urban infrastructure. To fulfill the need for mobility in rural areas and overcome high selling price and tax rates of four-wheelers, the consumers are looking towards motorcycles, thus increasing their demand and subsequently, aiding the growth of the market. Furthermore, in the financial year 2017, rural areas accounted for approximately 38% of the two-wheeler population in India, where the sales of two-wheelers is highest in the world.

Burgeoning urbanization in developing countries such as Asia Pacific and Latin America, rising employment, improvements witnessed in disposable income, and a rise in the dual income of households are the key factors fuelling the demand for motorcycles. Reasonable price brackets for middle-class population and associated freedom of movement in crowded urban environments, low environmental impact, and ease of parking owing to the small size of two-wheelers are some of other dynamics driving the conventional motorcycle market. According to the Federation of Asian Motorcycle (FAMI), in South East Asian countries, it is very common to have one or more motorcycle or scooter in a household. Thus, both the rural and urban population are expected to act as the driving force of the global motorcycle market.

India to Surge Ahead of all Regions and Countries in Motorcycle Consumption

India is one of the most prominent regions in the two-wheelers market with a share of approximately 34% in 2017 in the global motorcycle market. India is one of the largest consumers of standard motorcycles, owing to the high preference for motorcycles in the country, especially in the middle-class population segment. The narrow road infrastructure and closely knit cities are the most prominent aspects that makes India one of the leading consumers of motorcycle.

Excess Competition over Technology among Market Players

The players operating in the global motorcycle market are constantly focusing on presenting customers with technological savvy and fancy products and luring them to join their loyal consumer base. Catering to the speed and mileage needs of consumers has also become imperative for the companies. As a result, investment in research and development activities has become their priority. Some of the leading companies in the market are Yamaha Motors Co., Ltd., Piaggio & C.S.D.A, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Hero MotoCorp., Bajaj Auto Ltd., Vmoto Limited, Zero Motorcycles Inc., Harley-Davidson, Inc., Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A, KTM AG, Triumph Motorcycles, and Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) AG, among many others.

High Handlebars, Cool Graphics, and Garage-Built Attitude

MILWAUKEE (February 21, 2018) – Harley-Davidson adds to the long legacy of its Sportster motorcycle line with the introduction of the Iron 1200 and Forty-Eight Special models. The latest in a line of 100 high-impact motorcycles the company plans to introduce by 2027, these new high-bar Sportsters combine throw-back styling trends from the custom-bike scene with the solid foundation of the Sportster platform and the punchy performance of the Evolution 1200 V-Twin engine.

Since its introduction in 1957, Sportster motorcycles have been repeatedly reimagined, in the hands of both the Motor Company and bike owners: The Sportster as a bobber, a chopper, a scrambler and a café racer; as a hero on flat tracks and drag strips and road-race courses; as an accessible entry-point for first-time riders, and as a custom-of-one cruiser.

“Since its inception, the Sportster has offered the perfect combination of size, power and character that makes it appealing to so many different riders,” said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson V.P. of Styling & Design. “A Sportster is a relatively easy bike to strip down and reinvent. What we’ve done to create the new Iron 1200 and Forty-Eight Special is what Sportster owners have been doing with their own bikes for generations.”

New fuel tank graphics distinguish both the Iron 1200 and the Forty-Eight Special, and combine bold color stripes with a formal typeface, color and graphic elements originally popular in the 1970s.

“The art on these two fuel tanks reflect contemporary trends we are seeing on custom bikes and in design in general, a move away from more complex and intricate art to a look that’s very simple and clean,” said Richards. “It’s also important to note that these graphics respect the shape of the fuel tank and in the case of the Sportster, that tank shape is a classic design element in its own right.”

Iron 1200
The Iron 1200 recipe starts with power. A 1202cc Evolution® 1200 V-Twin engine delivers 36 percent more torque (73.0 ft. lbs. vs. 53.8 ft. lb.) than the 883 Evolution engine that powers the Iron 883, the original urban brawler in the Sportster family. The Iron 1200 brings more punch to the street fight – more power to blast away from green lights and more mid-range to muscle through traffic. More power means more rowdy fun.

The satin-black Mini Ape handle bar is an essential element of the garage-built chopper look that adds instant attitude. This 1.0-inch diameter handlebar offers an 8.75-inch rise, 32-inch spread and 6.5-inch pull back, that opens the rider triangle with a fist-in-the-wind posture. The gloss black speed screen framing the headlamp is a West Coast styling influence that amplifies the attitude of the tall bars, is intended to offer some wind deflection at speed and provides a space for easy personalization. The fast-back Café Solo Seat flows to the rear fender and is shaped to help hold the rider in position when the torque of the Evolution 1200 kicks in.

A classic 3.3-gallon Sportster fuel tank features multi-colored striped graphics that wrap around the tank profile. The dark engine finish helps draw the eyes to the bright tank graphics. Fuel tank paint color options include Vivid Black, Twisted Cherry and Billiard White, always contrasting with the Vivid Black speed screen.

The entire powertrain has been styled with a popular color: black upper and lower rocker boxes, black exhaust and muffler shields, and black timer, primary and derby covers. Chrome pushrod tubes and tappet covers are the only brightwork and highlight the V-Twin engine shape. The Iron 1200 is finished with all-black 9-Spoke wheels (19-inch front and 16-inch rear diameter) and a solid black belt guard and rear sprocket.

The Harley-Davidson Smart Security System and anti-lock braking system (ABS) are factory-installed options for the Iron 1200 model.

Forty-Eight® Special
The burly front end of the Forty-Eight Special – a 130mm front tire framed by 49mm forks secured in massive forged aluminum triple clamps – looks especially menacing when topped with a gloss-black, 7.25-inch high Tallboy handlebar.

“We specifically selected the Tallboy bar for its shape,” said Richards. “It offers less pull-back than the Mini-Ape, a look that really works with the steamroller front end and the smaller fuel tank on the Forty-Eight Special model.”

That 2.2-gallon “peanut” Sportster fuel tank features rows of bold, horizontal stripes framing a simple Harley-Davidson text logo. The fuel tank is available in three color options: Vivid Black, Wicked Red, and Billiard White.

The Evolution 1200 engine features a black top end and an expanse of brilliant chrome below, including chrome primary, inspection and derby covers, and solid chrome muffler and exhaust shields. Chrome lower rocker boxes, pushrod tubes and tappet covers contrast with the black cylinders to highlight the V-Twin engine shape. High-performance Michelin Scorcher 31 tires front and rear are mounted on Black Split 9-Spoke Cast Aluminum wheels (16-inch diameter front and rear).

The Harley-Davidson Smart Security System and anti-lock braking system (ABS) are factory-installed options for the Forty-Eight Special model.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–For the first time in over 100 years, a new Curtiss Motorcycle is hitting the streets. Sharing a name with its famous World War II fighter plane ancestor, the new Warhawk pays homage to the man who invented the first American V-Twin motorcycle – Glenn Curtiss. The announcement marks the first product release since Confederate Motors rebranded to Curtiss Motorcycle earlier this year.

“We’ve spent the past 27 years working to optimize and perfect Mr. Curtiss’s V-Twin invention,” explained Curtiss CEO Matt Chambers. “Everything we know is built into this machine. Because the Warhawk is based on our acclaimed P51 Fighter, the engine, powertrain, and chassis are as solid as a bank vault. But now, we’ve cranked it to 11. There are no more rabbits we can pull out of the proverbial hat. There’s simply no way to make a more explosive hot-rod American V-twin than the Curtiss Warhawk.”

In addition to being the first Curtiss Motorcycle released in over a century, the announcement also marks the last motorcycle of its kind that the company will produce as it transitions from internal combustion to electric propulsion.

“The American V-twin is undoubtedly the most iconic and revered powertrain in motorcycle history. As we prepare to lead an all-new golden age of electrified motorcycles, this Curtiss Warhawk represents the best and final chapter in American V-Twin power and refinement. We’re building a handful of these Warhawks in honor of Mr. Curtiss and as a bequeathment from the brand of yesterday to the brand of tomorrow.”

Only 35 Curtiss Warhawks are scheduled to be crafted, with production beginning today. MSRP is $105,000 USD. For additional details and specifications, visit www.curtissmotorcycles.com.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Feb. 13, 2018  — Motorcycle enthusiasts from around the Southeast came together at a recent event hosted by Adamec Harley-Davidson® in support of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). Riders participated in a poker run, a multi-stop bike tour where each rider received a playing card at each respective stop. Matching the rules of poker, the rider with the best poker hand at the end of the ride won a prize.

Motorcycle enthusiasts from around the Southeast came together at a recent event hosted by Adamec Harley-Davidson® in support of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). (PRNewsfoto/Wounded Warrior Project)

“We had 145 riders come out from different chapters in the region, including Georgia, North Carolina, and South Florida,” said Missy Rivera, events coordinator at Adamec Harley-Davidson. “Everyone looked like they had a great time – at the end when the poker hands were shown was very exciting. And a lot of our riders really enjoyed getting to see where Wounded Warrior Project’s headquarters is located.”

Adamec Harley-Davidson has been a supporter of WWP for years, including providing an internship to a warrior served by WWP through Warriors to Work®. This career counseling program guides warriors to their next career through resume assistance, interview practice, coaching, and networking, while also working with employers to highlight the benefits of hiring veterans.

Adam Sandoval, another longtime supporter of WWP who holds a world record for motorcycle riding (http://newsroom.woundedwarriorproject.org/making-an-impact-A-Motorcycle-Enthusiast-His-Chihuahua-and-18-Months-on-The-Road), also participated in the event. He also recently wrapped up another cross-country motorcycle adventure, where he gave away eight new motorcycles to deserving veterans (http://adamsandovalrides.com/mission-thank-you).

“I’ve done a lot of riding in the last few years to support our wounded veterans, and I want people to see that you can serve even if you don’t wear the uniform,” Adam said. “If you can’t give money, give your time, and if you can’t give your time, find your niche, whatever that is, and raise awareness for those who have fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy every single day. If you can’t serve, find a way to serve those who have.”

Funds raised by the poker run event will support WWP programs that connect wounded veterans with services that empower them to live their lives on their own terms. To see those programs in action, visit http://newsroom.woundedwarriorproject.org.

“How can you not be proud of these folks? They served our country and now they’ve teamed up to create this stunning custom motorcycle. We’re honored to name them the Kings of Custom Motorcycle Builders,” said Zach Parham, president of MAG Retail Group.

The motorcycle, nicknamed “Porterfield,” is a 1974 Harley-Davidson donated by a veteran injured while serving in the military. The team was inspired by the style of a board track racer, a popular type of racing in the early 20th century. It features a long slim frame, a solo saddle and low, racing-style handlebars.

“Since J&P Cycles’ founding, we’ve supported people who love motorcycles. When organizations, like Motorcycle Missions, use motorcycles to positively impact people lives, it makes our jobs even more rewarding,” added Parham.

J&P Cycles sponsors motorcycle events and shows around the United States. Consumers can find more information at www.JPcycles.com.
