Early Access 2019 is here and I’m sharing part two of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Outfit guide (you can see my other purchases in this post). Like I’ve mentioned before, this sale can be hit or miss but I always find good basics and a few trendy pieces that I can wear now and in the upcoming season.
Many of you have asked about my thoughts on the denim, and frankly, the denim is AMAZING this year (especially if you want high-rise or cropped flare styles). I will be sharing my full review on the denim that I tried, but if you are anxious to shop now, my favorites were the denim featured in this post and my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Outfits from yesterday.
Tag me in your #NSale finds – maybe we can be twins.
My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 picks are in and the sale is officially here, can you believe it? For the past 7 years I’ve covered this sale, and each year I think it’s better than the last. Now, to be honest, I was a little underwhelmed by the 2019 catalog. I found a few things that called my name, but it gave me some doubts about the sale. Well, that was until I was able to preview everything and get a look for myself.
I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong — the sale is good. Real good. And per your request, I’ll be covering beauty (hello Tom Ford), Baby (still waiting on George to tell us his “picks”), Denim, Shoes and by popular demand, Blazers. But today, I’m first sharing 10 outfits I created from my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 picks.
Also, dont worry: I don’t plan on overwhelming you with #NSALE content for the next three weeks. But as a heads up, I’ll be posting part 2 of my NSALE content tomorrow (Friday) at 12:00 EST. So if you have any questions about other specifics, feel free to email (email@example.com) or leave us a comment. Or if you are confused about the sale, be sure to check out my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide.
All in all, I had a great time shopping the sale and think I came out with some good basics and items I can’t wait to wear this fall. What are your Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 picks? xx Ashley
The Nordstrom Anniversary Catalog launched a few weeks ago, but that wasn’t a full list of everything that will be on sale. While the Early Access doesn’t officially start until Friday, I wanted to give you guys a heads up on more sale products. Apparently, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Lookbooks for 2019 were leaked to the internet a few days ago (via PurseForum users). And this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale leak is huge! The images are a little low quality, but it’s the best we can do until the products are live on Nordstrom.com. Start planning your picks for the big day. Be sure to check out the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide for full details, tips and shopping strategy.
Hi everyone! Welcome to Top Ten — a monthly series where we share your most shopped items from the previous month. These are the products that I featured and you guys loved the most! It’s always fun to see what you enjoy, so don’t forget to tag me on instagram and I’ll be sure to share with our community.
It’s always this time of year where I pursue a “less is more” approach to my summer beauty routine. I try to find products that give me breathable coverage, dewy skin, and of course, double as my SPF. But there’s more to summer beauty than just SPF — and if we’re being honest, we should be wearing it year-round, right?
Whether you’re heading on vacation or staying in town for the summer, these 10 products are sure to help you achieve the ultimate summertime glow.
What’s in your summer beauty bag? x Ashley
UPGRADE YOUR SUMMER BEAUTY BAG WITH THESE 10 WARM WEATHER ESSENTIALS
I’ve been using the Tan Luxe Body Drops for over a year now and was thrilled when Nordstrom started carrying this brand. They deliver an even, natural looking tan and I never have to worry about feeling like an Oompa-Loompa. I have a few tutorials on my IG Stories and here in a recent blog post where I break down my step by step process. I also share the lotion I pair it with back in this blog post.
OB-SESSED would be an understatement. In the summer heat, the last thing you want is heavy makeup sitting on your face, clogging your pores, and possibly melting as the temperature rises. Switch out your foundation with a tinted BB Cream to hydrate your skin while providing sun protection. This one offers SPF 25 and a full coverage finish that still allows your skin to breath. My derm loves Jane Iredale (Nordstrom carries the entire line) and highly recommended this since I tend to break out easily. If your skin is really dry, you should check out theComplexion Rescue. I love the formula on that one (and it’s SPF 30), but can’t find a shade that matches me quite like the Glow Time.
I usually don’t like to wear waterproof mascara but a MAU once told me her summer makeup tip was to apply a light coat on your lower lash line to avoid fall out or smudging. Especially if you find yourself outside on a hot, humid day.
Swatched below! This dewy highlighter is a summertime essential. It comes with a sponge applicator that makes it easy to apply and blend. It’s such a pretty color to use on the high points of your face (cheekbones, bridge of your nose and cupids bow). I usually dab then blend with a beauty sponge or brush.
Swatched below! If you need a good eyeshadow base or prefer a soft shimmer for your eyeshadow, this will be your best friend. It doesn’t crease (I repeat, doesn’t crease!), it’s easy to use (I often use my finger to apply) and is ideal for travel since you don’t have to worry about a powder breaking. Highly recommend this!
I did a whole review on this a few weeks ago, but this is THE BEST water cream/gel moisturizer I have ever tried (if you are a regular around here, you know I’ve tried a lot of gel moisturizers). I plan on wearing it year round, but it’s especially nice during the summer. It’s lightweight and feels soothing on your skin.
Early on in my pregnancy Austin and I started researching ” baby registry must-haves” and asking our friends what they used and loved. It was an exciting time but also overwhelming — there’s just SO much stuff out there.
Now that we are 7 weeks into parenthood, we’ve been able to test out many of the gifts we received from our registry and realized things we should have registered for. I’ve include our top 10 registry picks below and details on how we use them.
I know a lot of you are new moms or planning your registry, Walmart makes it so easy with their brand new baby registry. They carry premier baby brands that we use and love. Not to mention they have a very generous return policy in case you change your mind or realize you don’t need something like you thought you did (trust me – it will happen). Austin and I have learned that so much of this is trial and error, but hopefully this gives you a good start on your registry.
Please leave a comment below and let me know what your #1 must have item is!
We have a two story house, and one of the tips that our friends (and you guys) recommended was to get an extra changing pad or “changing station” downstairs so we aren’t having to run up for every diaper change. Several told us about the Keekaroo and we love it. The changer does not require pads or sheets as the surface is easy to wipe clean and it’s made to withstand bacterial growth.
The hospital actually gave us on elf these and we ended up buying. a few more because let’s face it, accidents happen and you can’t always do laundry right then and there. We registered for several different velcro swaddles, but ended up loving the Halo Sleep Sack and the Happiest Baby Sleep Sack.
George was too small for this at first, but now that he has a little more neck and head control, we’ve been able to test this out. I just couldn’t figure out the wrap carriers, and this one by BabyBjörn is incredibly easy and comfortable. Highly recommend for travel (we will use this when we go to the airport in a few weeks) or anytime you don’t want to get the stroller out.
These aren’t the easiest to clean, BUT they are really great for reducing gas, colic and mimic the real deal. My sister in law is a prenanatal nurse, and spoke really highly of these. The only downside is sometimes ours leak, but Ince we retighten the lid, it seems to be fine.
Being a new parent, I have been so fearful that I wouldn’t have the supplies or tools on hand when George gets sick. The Fridababy products are THE BEST. They also have a ton of videos on how to use the products on their site and Walmart carries all of their top selling products.
This is by far one of our favorite products on this list and one we forgot to add to our registry. We only made it two nights before running to Walmart and picking this up. Often white noise machines are bulky, but this one offers a super minimal design that doesn’t compromise your decor. It also has several different “white noise” sounds and volume options. It also allows you to set an hour timer or let it run continuously. Highly recommend!
This bassinet has been a life savor these first couple months before we transition George into his crib. I actually don’t use the battery operated functions like I thought I would, so you could easily get away with the Essential Sleeper.
I knew I wanted something functional but also took up minimal space in our nursery. This one is nice because it doesn’t require special bags and will hold up to 55 newborn diapers. It also has a rubber seal that helps reduce odor.
I’m not usually one to plan my outfit around trends. Typically I stick with more classic and basic looks, but recently I can’t help but find myself pulling pieces influenced be these 5 summer trends. Whether it’s seashells, animal print (always my favorite) or polka dots, we’ve included several that are budget-friendly in addition to some by our favorite designers. Which one is your favorite?
5 Summer Trends I’m WearingSeashell Accessories
I am sure most of you have seen these seashell type of accessories at least once or twice lately! I totally love this for summertime, especially for a summer vacation. This is most definitely a fad and will not last past the fall in my opinion, but I am so enjoying it at the moment. I think it is a fun way to accessorize any look and totally brings me back to the early 2000s and church camp!
The Low Heel
Now this is a trend that I support! Especially since I am just past four weeks postpartum and my feet are still a bit swollen. For those of you who cannot tolerate the pain of high heels, this trend is your friend. I love how I can still look put together yet my feet aren’t killing me at the end of the day. I hope this trend stays for good!
I have always been a huge fan of animal print and love to incorporate it into my looks—especially since I love my neutral tones and like to mix it up from time to time! What I love about this trend is that It can be incorporated in clothing pieces, but also accessories like belts and headbands!
One shoulder, no problem! What I love about this trend is that it comes in all types of colors, styles, fabrics and silhouettes. It can be found in someone who is dressed up or dressed down, in someone who is 15 or 50! I love a trend that can be used by all and I love when people add their own personal touch to it!
Although I mostly stick to wearing neutral tones/solid colors, I think the polka dot look is such a classic, and feminine style! I think dots look great with denim, or in swimwear, or even with a bright red lipstick if you’re feeling bold! I can definitely see this trend playing through the fall and winter time!
It goes without saying that no matter what type of skin you have, we all want it to feel hydrated, smooth and radiant. If you’ve kept up with “Beauty Talk”, you know my struggle with hormonal acne and uneven skin tone has been going on for quite some time. But since going to my dermatologist, I’ve learned to simplify my routine and focus on the ingredients I’m using on my skin.
About a month ago, I was asked to test drive a few products from Kiehl’s that focused on balancing skin and boosting radiance. I’ve used Kiehl’s products for years (the Tinted BB Cream got me through Summer 2015) and the Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrateis one of the best Vitamin-C serums on the market. And let’s be honest — pregnancy didn’t bring out the best in my skin so I was willing to try anything to help.
When doing my research, the Kiehl’s Calendula Products at Bloomingdales seemed like they would be ideal for my skin type. Calendula is a natural anti-inflammatory that has been proven to reduce acne, eliminate redness and calm the skin. It also has glow-boosting properties that work together to make skin feel and look hydrated. These products are also formulated for sensitive skin and work to restore a healthy balance on your skin. After reading more reviews, I was sold and immediately purchased.
This 4-step Regimen Guarantees Glowing Skin
1. Calendula Face Wash– A gel face wash that is super gentle and works great on combination skin. It foams up really nice too when you add water! I use AM + PM. *Note: If you double-cleanse at night, use this as your second step after your cleansing oil.
2.Calendula Toner– This is alcohol-free and made with Calendula flower petals that soothe and calm the skin. I started off with the smallest size, but will be repurchasing the larger size once I finish this one. It feels so nice on my skin. I use AM + PM.
3. Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate– Not a new product for me — this Vitamin-C serum is one of the best on the market! It feels so soft, almost like a cream, when you apply and gives your skin with a subtle warming sensation as if it’s melting into your skin. I use it AM + PM before moisturizing. Be sure to let it soak in for a good 30 seconds before applying any moisturizer though.
4. Calendula Water Cream– You know I love a gel moisturizer. I’ve talked about in my newsletter, instagram stories, blog posts…the list goes on. And I’m sure it might be a little annoying by now, but when you find something that works, you just want to tell your friends all about it, right? This one from Kiehl’s is dewy, light, and will not clog your pores. It also contains the highest concentrate of Calendula Flower Extract and hundreds of micronized Calendula petals which work to reduce inflammation and help skin look smooth. I know, it sounds too good too be true but it really is the best gel moisturizer I’ve tested as of late. I highly recommend!
I started incorporating these products into my routine the week before George was born (so 7 weeks now) and have since had several people stop and compliment my skin. For someone who never get’s compliments on her skin, that was a nice feeling!
Let me know if you try this! xx Ashley
