Blessed with the gift to work away from home – I jetsetted around from The Bahamas to Mexico all the way to Canada and stops in between. The trips consisted of different agendas. One was ministry-based to visit a strong @my_darling_diary follower who couldn’t walk; others were to photograph at the beach – and yet another was to conference and network it up. Which leads me to meeting my new skincare queen – Colleen Rothschild at the rewardStyle conference in Dallas.
Who is Colleen Rothschild? At the blogger conference in Dallas, I showed up to a scheduled meeting an hour in advance (by mistake – by the way) — and found myself sitting next to the most beautiful woman – dressed in a power red with beautiful blonde short and striking locks. By mistake, I asked if she was a blogger (l-o-l) and then I learned she was the founder of one of my f-a-v-o-r-i-t-e brands (Dallas based! and close to home!). First, I learned about her Radiant Cleansing Balm and haven’t gone back. It’s a face wash you can use without water, and it’s genius for flights, for late nights, for traveling, or anytime you’re in a crunch. Since then, I’ve mixed Colleen’s Radiant Cleansing Balm into my solely-Tula based skin routine, specifically when it comes to travel. Not only that, these 100% cotton Muslin Cleansing Cloths make the process all the easier.
And after traveling so much this year, I can say I learned a thing or two about taking care of myself in the midst of long flights and hectic schedules. A lot of this has to do with sleep, exercise, and fresh air; but it also has to do with using the right skincare products.
I learned that hydrating your skin is essential at any time, but more than ever when you’re traveling by plane. Notice you break out after flying? The lack of humidity in planes dries out your skin dramatically and it’s essential to consistently moisturize when up in the air. Leading me to Beauty Water by Colleen Rothschild; in fact, now I can’t live with out it! I also added in a few of my other favorite products from Colleen (like a hand lotion – hello dry cold hands in travel, etc.). And this leads me to my travel must-have list. Here goes:
A journal. I bring a diary/journal with me every time I travel! When I forget one, I snatch one up in the airport. I love writing about my experiences while away, praying, and using journals to remember restaurants I tried or people I met.
Photo prints for the fashion gal. Or the single gal. Or the working gal. Or the family gal. Or the chic gal. Or any kind of gal.
And all kinds of gals. Over the past few years, I’ve been itching to hang a photo wall above my desk – but I wasn’t sure about which photos to hang or where to start when it came to photo printing and framing. Enter Walmart. We discovered that the Walmart Photo Center can print jpeg files on matt photo paper and in large poster sizes – and I was sold. The rest is history; I was so excited to welcome Walmart into my office as a brand partner to talk all things photo prints.
If you’re like me and sans baby, hubby, or boyfriend – I like to think of creating a cute file on photoshop and printing it out as a quick trick for dazzling up a wall when you don’t have a billion fam photos to hang. It’s a different way of doing a “photo collage” and it’s darling, it’s girly, and it’s timeless–and just perfect for the small corners of our office. If you are a mama, a wife, girlfriend, or have a million pics you want to frame–Walmart’s got you covered too.
Whether it’s a photo wall or a collage wall, you’re in good hands at Walmart. We were so impressed with the ease of uploading our digital files, and ordering our prints. Not only was it easy to upload and order prints, their photo department had our prints ready for pick-up the very same day.
Here’s what to do:
Create an image you want to print in photoshop. I asked my sweet friend and designer, Rebecca, to create some photoshop prints for us!
I made sure to play with these images on my desktop computer to see what all 3 would look like next to each other. I always suggest arranging images on a computer before printing them out!
Save the photoshop files as jpegs.
Upload the jpegs to the Walmart online photo department
Walmart has lots of format options for your prints like mounted photos and wall art, canvas prints, and more. This girl will definitely be going back, especially for Christmas giftings and sweet memories. I am so excited to let you girls into our office and give you a sneak peek of the behind the scenes here at our offices. We hope you love them just as much as we do!
Because here we are again – retail’s favorite holiday has landed and we’ve got the deets. Save some dollars on your Christmas lists and mouse on over The Darling Detail team’s favorite retailers – as we’ve listed out the sales and codes for each retailer below. Happy shopping, pretties! XO
Whenever I think the holidays are far away, I remember how quickly time passes by.
Seriously – as if summer didn’t just fly right by, fall is well on its way out and the holidays are happening just about now. Me? I’ve done Christmas shopping a time or two in advance – and let me tell you, those years were my favorite: stress-free for this busy-bee when they get done far in advance.
Today I wanted to talk my favorite *and only* skincare line – you know it all so well – Tula and their holiday shop and gift sets. First – you know the drill; I suffered from acne for years and started purchasing Tula on my own. As I worked with a holistic doctor on getting my body into a healthy shape, I used Tula as a topical solution for my skin and it did quite the magic trick. Since then – I have been working with Tula *exclusively* because I wear Tula *exclusively* on my skin to treat it. I still fear having acne come back – so this skincare routine is incredibly important to me, and near and dear to my heart. I think the greatest part about my relationship with Tula is I started using them as a consumer, and moved into creating a partnership with them that benefits you – a 20% off discount code: JESSI.
^that’s it. I try to keep things simple because I know a lot of you girls are trying my same skincare routine and skincare costs add up – I get it.
The best part is Tula made a gift set of all of the above (cleanser, pH Gel, Day & Night Cream, + added in two sheet masks and a cosmetic bag) for $78. With my 20% off code that’s $62.40 – ba-boom. This is definitely something I would suggest putting on your Christmas list! Parents, what a wonderful gift for your daughters. Friends, this is a pretty and thoughtful gift for your sisters or girlfriends. Or why not simply gift one of these beautiful sets to yourself!
I’m listing to the kits I got below – and ones I can’t wait to gift to my mum (shh don’t tell her) and my best friend.
I’ve been posting less here on le blog – mainly because I’m having a harder time finding pieces I’m absolutely smitten by and ready to chat with you girls about. Full disclosure: the pieces I choose to put on my blog mean a lot to me since I know they mean a lot to you – so we work hard over here to test out and order pieces that I love in hopes you’ll love them too. But wait! That changed this week when I ordered a bundle of knits, denim and dresses from Nordstrom and immediately heart-eyed over every piece. So? This week I’m talking turkey-day looks – or just simply classic-classy-cutesie styled to stay chic amongst the colder weather.
I’ve styled 4 different outfits, all from Nordy’s (meaning great shipping, great returns, all the things), ranging from dresses and cozy knits to denim and booties for cute darling-esque Thanksgiving looks. My favorite? I’d have to say the Autumn-inspired rust carmel Leith dress (so quintessential turkey day), but I’m also obsessing over the pops of pink in the grey-white-and-pink outfit.
Fall is hard on the wallet — especially when it comes to building a cold-weather warm wardrobe.
Because as the clothes get warmer and we transition into higher thread counts and cozier knits – the higher the bills and dollars. But as you girls know, I’m big on closet staples in hopes of minimizing the constant (and expensive) need to shop and being able to re-wear the best-kept staples.
Today I’m styling one of my favorite staples–a pair of booties by UGG. When a versatile and re-wearable color (a good neutral bootie) is mixed into a classic design, good quality and a comfortable heel height, you know I’m smitten and ready to blog about it. I looked through the online layers of shoes.com and stumbled upon these fall-to-winter appropriate booties–and was instantly convinced they were my new bootie BFF. I wanted to show the versatility of these shoes by photographing them the last two times I wore them: (1) simple and classic with a cable knit sweater, and (2) trendy and styled with ripped denim, a bomber jacket and a cropped thermal. My favorite part about these booties, in particular, is the casual look. They don’t make an outfit too dressy – but keep things crisp, casual and real.
I’m obsessed with all these outfit pieces (click the thumbnails below to shop), but more specifically, the way these UGG Pixley booties look equally darling with both outfits. I also wore them with a sweater dress (not pictured here) and was very pleased with the outcome! You can find more of my favorite kicks on shoes.com, these UGG booties here, and my outfits below by clicking the thumbnails! And happy Friday – darlins! XOXO
