It is known that the Jump Virtual Reality platform of Google, which was launched in the year 2015, is a complete ecosystem for VR film making. This program was designed to offer professional and expert VR solutions to users. With the help of Jump Cameras and their Assembler, users can easily create seamless VR videos without much effort. However, according to the latest news, Google has decided to cease activity on its Jump VR platform by the end of June because of a user base that continues to dwindle with time.
Google is currently in the process of advising all the users of the platform to download and save all their data so that they are not deprived of it when the platform completely shuts down. The company also sent an to all the users of the platform to this effect, informing them that the platform will not accept any further uploads for processing starting 27th June. The same message has also been posted for the convenience of the users on the FAQ page of the Jump website.
As stated in the email, “Those who want a copy of the data they uploaded to the cloud will have until June 27th to download them all. On June 28th, Google will start erasing Jump’s cloud data and deactivating accounts.” The company also mentioned that today, there are a plethora of great options and alternatives for users to choose from. In their words, “As these new cameras, formats, and editing tools became available, we saw usage of Jump Assembler decline.”
It is evident that the company was forced to take this decision based on the declining user base of the service. That said, it is a relief that certain camera rigs such as Yi Halo and GoPro Odyssey that support Jump VR will continue operating and functioning with all kinds of third-party software of video editing since they cost a significant sum of money.
This new development is simply a reminder that technology keeps evolving and where one dies down, another one emerges for the betterment of humanity.
Virtual Reality has left no stones unturned today. It has permeated all kinds of industries as well as domains and has proved its significance in meeting more than one business objective. The latest to bite the bullet is BBC that has released an all-new episode of the much-loved science fiction TV program, Doctor Who in the Virtual Reality dimension for all the fans.
This episode has been named “Runaway” and is an animated episode that is set inside the fictional time machine called Tardis. The viewers/users can play the role of a temporary companion for the good doctor by way of this virtual reality episode. Although this is not the first time that the world has seen an animated episode of Doctor Who, it is the very first for a VR spin on this popular TV show.
There are many interactive elements for the viewers in this episode, including the opportunity to pilot the ship of Time Lord at one instance during the show. That said, the episode is less of a game and more of a scripted drama piece, intended to engage the audience and make the show more interactive for VR lovers. Moreover, the English actress, Jodie Whittaker delivers a witty monologue of a good 13 minutes as a part of the plot of this episode.
BBC VR hub’s head, Zillah Watson is quite pleased with how it worked out. She says that the lively performance of the characters in the episode deserves praise. In her words, the episode is “a magical adventure,” and it “shows the enormous potential virtual reality has for creating new kinds of experiences that appeal to mainstream audiences.”
This latest development in the field of virtual reality and Doctor Who have created quite a stir amidst fans. That said, it is not exactly a mainstream game that the users can look forward to, neither it is a hardcore episode. It is something intangible that lies in between the two. In any case, it will be released today, i.e., May 16th and you can download it for free to assuage your curiosity.

Beat Saber is a VR game that thoroughly tests its players. When we usually say games testing their players, it means the player bring their A game with a sharp mind and a perfect keyboard skill to match it. However, Beat Saber doesn’t just engage your mind and palms, it engages your whole body.
It is certainly a new experience and the benefits are plenty. The recent story of a man who lost 138 Pounds by playing Beat Saber projected the game to be more than just a way to pass time, but an activity that really puts your body to work.
Since this is a new experience for the player, many are confused about how to rack up amazing scores. The pros on YouTube make you want to strive for the best, and this article is all about helping you do just that! Let’s review the top 10 beat saber tips and tricks that lands you amazing scores.
Let us not forget that Beat Saber is going to make you move, a lot! And this isn’t just the normal linear stuff. You will be ducking and dodging objects, shifting your weight to move out of incoming obstacles, and then your whole arm will be put to use when you aren’t doing the ducking and dodging stuff.
And any athlete will tell you that going straight into a strenuous physical activity takes a massive toll on the body. So, warm up your body with some light physical exercises. Make it ready to take the oncoming beating, and you will be surprised to know how well you can move with a few minutes of warm up.
2) Don’t be shy to use the No Fail mode
The No-Fail mode in Beat Saber keeps your scores hidden from the leaderboards. This means that your scores will not be visible to anyone else but you. It is a great way to practice your skills and to know the game.
So when you are starting out or when you are in your practice sessions, turn on No Fail, and don’t be afraid to fail a few times! It will help you later!
3) Slow songs get you in the grove
When you are starting out, it’s always tempting to go straight with Rap God and Expert+ settings, as YouTubers make it feel so easy. However, starting out with a hard song can break your spirit if you aren’t performing well. The best way forward is to work your way up with easy songs.
This way you will have had the perfect warm up and a no-pressure song to start. After you have honed your skills, you can go on to racking up some serious scores.
4) Get to know how the scoring system works
If you know the system, you will know half the game! Beat Games themselves have revealed how the scoring system works within the game. The major take away is that the scores will depend on the swing angle, and how close you can get to the center of the block while cutting it.
So if you thought you can get away with moving your hands the least, you have been missing out on greater points.
5) Check your Motion tracker
Since now we know how the scoring system works, we know the importance of swing angles and the perfect cut. However, did you know that a poorly optimized motion tracker will turn your perfect cuts into shoddy gameplay?
Motion trackers are not perfect and the environment that they are in effect on how they track your movements. If you think that your movement is not being tracked well, you need to make sure that your motion tracker is working well. Optimize the VR hardware for better motion tracking.
6) Adjust the floor height
Having the obstacles come at you at the right height makes the job of striking them easier. If the floor right is higher or lower than your optimum height, the obstacles, and the blocks will strain you unnecessarily and can cost you dearly when it comes to scores.
7) Practice, Practice, Practice
The problem with many of us is that we look at the final result of the person and wants that for us without knowing the path they have traveled. And that path is paved with practice and persistence.
So you must incorporate that ethos into what you do. Start practicing and understand that you can’t get high scores right away and that you need to practice a lot to build the reaction time and in time, muscle memory.
8) Go Expert Mode, and then Expert+
With higher difficulty comes higher points. You know how to get perfect points with each cut, however, did you know that you can get the scores to multiply if you are in Expert mode and have even more points if you are in Expert+?
After you have gotten the grips of the game, try expert mode with the same song. You will be surprised to know the score boost you get as a result of that.
9) Take breaks in between
Pushing yourself a song after the other in hopes of excelling faster might not be a wise choice. Expert players always make sure to take breaks in between, rehydrating themselves, giving themselves cool down breaks.
You will also see that short breaks give your scores a boost as every time you come back, your body and mind would have gotten time to process and adapt the new information.
10) Have fun with it
You can’t just push yourself to do something that you don’t like. Take your time and have fun with the whole experience. When you do something you love, you won’t feel like you are working.
Play using your favorite songs, test yourself and don’t forget to have a good laugh if you fail, and laugh harder when you see your friend fail!
Climbing up the Beat Saber leaderboards might look like a daunting task, but it is not impossible. With the right approach and a good amount of practice, you can also make the list. A piece of friendly advice is to never get too caught up on it, have fun with it.

The Summit this year promises a number of things, starting from bringing together military leaders, DoD officials, and academia as well as solution providers.
Some other relevant stakeholders are also expected to be a part of the event. The 2019 Summit aims to emphasize the usage of VT&S or Virtual Training & Simulation technologies so that warfighter readiness and the overall safety can be enhanced and the underlying costs can be reduced. The Summit also plans to focus on how best to leverage these technologies in the military domain to assist in the training of future operations in a multi-domain.
There will be a number of topics covered at this event including the utilization of simulation and modeling in order to close readiness gaps and lethality. There will also be a good discussion on leveraging the LVC and M&S solutions for an enhanced unit, soldier as well as force readiness. In addition to that, you can also expect the topic of increasing soldier lethality to be brought up through the use of simulation and modeling.
The 3rd annual Summit of Military Virtual Training & Simulation is a must-attend event for a plethora of very compelling reasons.
