My painting trip to Italy was a stretch. I learned how to see inspiration around me ... and what an inspiring country it is.
I wouldn't call myself an artist. In fact, I had never had a pastels painting class before I registered 2 weeks in Italy on a Pastel Painting trip. It was a wonderful way to see the country, through the creative inspiration of a group of artists.
Here's the pastel painting I created in a royal garden in Florence. What a stretch ... what a challenge ... what a joy!
I highly recommend the challenge of getting out of your normal routine, and seeing things through foreign eyes, whether it's another country or another skill. Push past the fear. The results can be beautiful.

I've been watching the big growth of Tiny Houses. Interesting to see the small spaces that people are being drawn to. I'm wondering how long the pendulum will swing in this direction, away from the McMansions of the last decade.
I just found out about this Italian furniture manufacturer who is making beautiful and multi-functional pieces. I would love to incorporate some of these furnishings for a tiny house design. Check it out: www.Clei.it

If you are a Mom, you are modeling "grown-up life" for your children. If you model creativity, then your kids will figure out how to entertain themselves and be creative too. If you model "martyrdom" then they will believe they need to be martyrs too.
