Territorial Army Exam Pattern:

The TA Exam is conducted in 2 Parts:

Paper 1: Paper 1 will include:

Paper 2: It will include:
  • 50 Questions of General Knowledge
  • 50 Questions of English
Important Points for Territorial Army Written Exam:
  • Each paper will be given 2 Hours and the complete exam will be conducted in 2 parts.
  • The entire paper will be Objective in nature
  • Minimum 40% marks in each part of the paper separately and overall 50% marks are required to clear TA Written Exam.
  • There is a penalty for every wrong answer submitted by the candidate.

NDA Passing Out Parade 30 May 2019 give 291 cadets who were finally commissioned under the 136th Course of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla Pune. Out of these 291 Cadets, 218 cadets will join Indian Army, 34 will join Indian Navy whereas the 39 cadets will be commissioned in the Indian Air Force. Along with this, 15 other cadets from friendly foreign countries like Afghanistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Tajikistan, the Maldives, and Papua New Guinea were also commissioned on the day.

COAS Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa was the Chief Guest:

On the occasion of cadets commissioned from National Defence Academy, Chief of Air Staff (CoAS) Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa was present as the Chief Guest.

Talking about BS Dhanoa, he joined National Defence Academy in 1974 from where he joined Indian Air Force in 1978 as a commissioned Officer. He joined the Indian Air Force as a trained Fighter Pilot.

Cadets Suffer From Dizziness:

During the NDA POP 2019, at least three cadets were carried out on stretchers from the NDA’s Arun Khetrapal parade ground for medical aid. The scene held between 0730 hours and 0800 hours on Tuesday morning. Most of the cadets suffered from dizziness due to heat and it caused some cadets to be taken out for medical assistance. The cadets fell down on the ground during the passing out parade. However, the cadets were later reported their condition to be FIT and hence the show continue as it used to be, every six months.

The Indian military is known for the best soldiers with fully groomed personality and fighting taints. The army not only shields the country from external aggression but also performs a wide range of tasks, like managing internal quorum, disaster relief, social service and other works like construction of bridges, etc. the bulk of expertise gathers by the soldiers during their service is also used in the governance of India. Some of the retired army personnel have entered politics and became a part of the national development.

1. Captain Mohd. Ayub Khan:

The least know soldier turned Politian, honoured with veer chakra, Captain Mohd. Ayub Khan joined politics after retirement and won Lok Sabha elections twice and was also appointed as a minister in the government of Rajiv Gandhi.

2. Kisan Baburao Hazare a.k.a. Anna Hazare:

The renowned social activist who waged a war against corruption is an army veteran who joined the army in 1960. He was honorably retired in 1975 after 12 years of service. He is famous for some of his extraordinary moves like grain bank, an initiative in watershed management program, education and development in rural areas.

3. Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri:

Major General (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri AVSM has served as the chief minister of Uttarakhand from 2007-09 and a senior BJP member. During the preimminsteralship of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he was appointed as cabinet minister of surface transport.

4. Jacob Farj Rafael Jacob:

Lieutenant General JFR Jacob is known for his contribution in Bangladesh liberation war 1971. He was also a part of world war II and India Pakistan war 1965. After serving in the Indian army for 36 years, he has been appointed as the governor of Goa and Punjab.

5. Lt. Kinhiraman Palat Candeth:

Lt. General Kinhiraman Palat Candeth having a great contribution in the annexation of Goa in 1961 and Pakistan’s infiltration after 1947, also got involved in governance after he was appointed as lt. Governor of Goa.

6. General VK Singh:

24th chief of Army Staff (2010-12) is a well-decorated soldier and a Politician. The retired four-star officer joined the anti-corruption movement with Ramdev in 2014 and in the same year he joined BJP and won from Ghaziabad seat. He has been a minister of the state of external affairs, development of north-eastern region and statistics and program implementation.

7. Col.  Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore:

Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, former Olympian is also a successful Olympian. He has joined BJP in 2014 and currently. He won Lok Sabha Election 2019 from Jaipur rural seat. He was appointed a Minister of State Information and Broadcast in 2014 and in 2017, and was also appointed as Minister of State of Youth Affairs and Sports. Before Lok Sabha Election 2019, he was on Twitter as “Chowkidar Rajyavardhan Rathore“.

8. Major Surendra Poonia Para SF:

An AFMC alumni, Major Surendra Poonia is a multitalented soldier with graduation in medicine, the experience of Para special forces and an efficient athlete and weight lifter. He had contested parliament elections in 2014 from Sikar. In 2015, he resigned from Aam Admi party due to some internal opinion conflicts with the party members.

9. Captain Amarinder Singh:

Captain Amarinder Singh of Sikh regiment is a well known political personality of Punjab who has emerged as a strong leader. He joined the army in 1963 and resigned in 1965 but again joined the military due to disturbances between India and Pakistan followed by India Pakistan war. His political career started with Congress but after operation blue star, he resigned from Congress and joined Shiromani Akali Dal. He was also elected as Member of Parliament from 2014-16 and minister of Punjab form 2007-09 and 2017 – till date.

10. Major Jaswant Singh:

Major (Retd) Jaswant Singh is another eminent political personality who produced a good level of governance in India. Being a founding member of BJP, he has been a member of Rajya Sabha for 5 times and Lok Sabha 4 times. He is known for his cabinet portfolios like finance, external affairs and Defense Minister during Vajpaee administration. He is also known for some of the best literary works like India at risk, national security and many more.

11. Captain Jagatvir Singh Drona:

Captain (retd) Jagatvir Singh Drona has also served as the mayor of Kanpur for 5 years. He was also a member of 10th 11th and 12th Lok Sabha.

12. Rajesh Pilot:

Most of you have already surfed the internet to get Biography of Rajesh Pilot. After resigning from the post of squadron leader, Rajesh pilot joined politics under the influence of Rajiv Gandhi.  He has also served as minter of telecommunication, internal security, and surface transport during his political career. He has also won Lok Sabha Election for 4 times and has founded Jai Jawan Jai Kisan trust.

13. Lieutenant General Sarath Chand:

Former vice chief of army staff Sarath Chand has recently joined BJP a time well before elections. After being commissioned in Garhwal rifles in 1979, he was retired in 2018. The leadership and commanding quality will be better used in politics.

The above-mentioned soldiers who turned politicians have performed well in both the fields, i.e. in the military as well as in governance. The discipline, influencing character and firm personality of these soldiers made a great change in politics and some of them are still working efficiently. Indian forces have always taught and brought discipline, fair judgment and dedication toward services which are made useful in every field whether on duty or after retirement. The army has always been the support in times of need, and in politics also, the soldiers are giving their best in every possible way. the service they have rendered in defence will bring glorious results in national politics too.

About NDA (I) 2019 Written Exam:

National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) 2019 exam consists of two exams i.e. Mathematics and General Ability Test. In Maths Exam, total 120 questions are requested that sums to 300 marks. So these 300 marks and 600 marks from General Ability Test, collectively make a score of 900 marks for NDA Exam.

National Defence Academy Entrance test (NDA 1 2019) was conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on 21st of April. What is NDA 1 2019 Cut off Marks?

The Combined Defence Services Examination (1) 2019 Result has been declared by the UPSC. You can check the CDS 1 2019 Result on the official website of UPSC. Total 7953 candidates have cleared the written exam. The Result is declared for the selection in various Officers Training Academies in Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The selected candidates will undergo SSB Interview followed by their training in one of the following Training Academies (based on their Preference):

  • Indian Military Academy Dehradun 148th Course commencing in January 2020
  • Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala, Kerala, Course commencing in January 2020
  • Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course (207 F(P)) commencing  in  January 2020
  • Officers  Training  Academy,  Chennai    111th SSC  Course (NT)(for Men) commencing in April 2020
  • Officers Training Academy, Chennai, 25th SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in April 2020.

How to Select CDS 1 2019 SSB Interview Dates?

First of all a big congratulations for all those candidates who have successfully cleared the exam and are now shortlisted for the SSB Interview at various SSB Centres of Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Now, the candidates need to register on the recruitment website of Indian Army (www.joinindianarmy.nic.in). Once registered, you will be allowed to select the SSB dates as per your interest.

Make sure you choose the most appropriate date and SSB Centre. No changes will be entertained once you choose your SSB Interview Date and center. After the successful selection, you will receive a message as well as Email on your registered Mobile number and Email ID.

NOTE: In case you are not able to Login properly with your pre-registered ID, you need to send your query at dir-recruitng6-mod@nic.in

However, in case you are unable to choose the SSB Dates, you will not be permitted to do so after the declared date. This doesn’t mean you will miss the SSB. The Indian Army has the right to decide the SSB Centre and SSB Date for you and will update you the same as per the availability of seats in different slots.

Instructions for CDS 1 2019 Qualified Candidates:

Total 7953 candidates who have cleared the written Exam for CDS 1 2019 should follow some instructions for the SSB Interview.

The candidates will be permitted to select the SSB Interview Date and venue for limited time only. After the time is over, you will not be able to select the SSB Interview Dates.

The candidates, who have a different residence address, need to inform the Indian Army/Navy/Air Force Headquarter and inform about the change as soon as possible.

Marks Sheet of Non-Qualified Candidates:

Those candidates who were unable to make their selection in the written exam this time will have a chance to appear for CDS 2 2019. The non-qualified candidates will also be able to get their answer sheets which will be released on the official website of UPSC after 15 days of OTA SSB Interview. The marks sheet will be available on the website for a total of 30 days. Recently, the UPSC has released CDS 1 2018 Marks of Non-Recommended Candidates.

The Official Notification has been released for 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme 42 Jan 2020 Course. All those aspiring students who are passionate to serve the country and earn stars on their shoulder through Permanent Commission in the Indian Army can apply for TES 42 Entry.

The Technical Entry Scheme is a special Entry Scheme for Science students who have passed 12th Standard (10+2 Examination) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The candidates who are shortlisted in the TES 42 Final Merit List undergo training at Officers Training Academy Gaya. TES 42 Eligibility Details:

TES 42 Age Limit: Candidates should be born between 1st July 2000 and 1st July 2003, including both the mentioned dates. You need to present your matriculation certificate as a proof of age.

Educational Eligibility: In terms of Educational eligibility, the candidate must have completed the 12th standard with Physical, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as their core subjects.

How to Apply for TES 42:

Students who have completed their 10+2 Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can easily apply for the TES 42 Entry. The steps to apply for the TES Entry Scheme are as follows.

  • Visit the official website of Indian Army i.e. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • Once you log in, click on Officer’s Login. There you need to submit your username and password, followed by a CAPTCHA code.
  • Once you enter the details and login successfully, you will see the APPLY ONLINE option for TES-42 Course.
  • You need to click on the Online Registration for TES-42 and enter all the information asked in the online form.
  • Once you complete the online registration, you will be given a final printout copy with entire information, including your personal details and Unique Roll Number.
TES 42 CutOff [Expected]:

Indian army has provided several entries to get officers from diversified stream and knowledge based on the work and operations to handle. It provided permanent and short service commission to the candidates based on the entries. Short service can be extended as per the criteria framed by the respective authority. Indian Army has IMA, NDA, OTA Chennai and OTA Gaya for training officers. Out of the 2 Officer Training Academies, the OTA Chennai is for both male and female cadets, while OTA Gaya is for male cadets only. Let’s have a crisp overview of OTA Gaya. 

About OTA Gaya

Officer Training Academy, GAYA was raised in 2011 to provide pre-commission training to the cadets or future officers. The academy is situated in the hilly terrains of Paharpur area of Gaya and has a capacity of 350 cadets. Maj. Ramaswamy Parameshwaran of the 8th battalion, Mahar Regiment, who was awarded Param Veer Chakra, belongs to OTA Gaya. The academy has produced many officers who have earned Ashok chakra and Mahaveer chakra.

Motto of OTA Gaya:

Shaurya, Gyan, Sankalp

Insignia (OTA Gaya):

The insignia of OTA has 2 colors, the upper half is grey and the lower half is blood red. Over these colors, two cross sword and dharma chakra are superimposed.

How to Join OTA Gaya

There are 2 ways to join OTA Gaya. These are:

  • Indian Army TES 2019 (10+2 TES Entry)
  • Special Commissioned Officers (SCO) Entry
Indian Army TES Entry 2019

Technical Entry Scheme is the entry for young aspirants who have passed 10+2 and have requisite score in specific combination of subjects. The entry has no qualifying exam and is a direct entry exclusively for non-medical students i.e. students having Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in 10+2 course.

  • Notification for TES entry is released in May/ June and October/ November for respective biennial batches.
  • Candidates who have passed or appearing in 10+2 can apply for this entry.
  • Candidates who have passed 12th with 70% marks in PCM (physics, chemistry, and mathematics)
  • Candidates having age between 16 ½ to 19 & 1/2 yrs are eligible for the entry. Note – the age is required to be fulfilled on the first day of training of the batch. 
  • The candidate recommended for this entry will be trained for 1 year at OTA Gaya and 4 years at CTWS.  (total duration of course – 5 years)
  • On the basis of the percentage, candidates are shortlisted and called for the Interview at SSB centres.
Special Commissioned Officers (SCO) Entry

It is the entry exclusively for the serving army soldier. It is for internal promotions and commissioning opportunity for soldiers serving at lower ranks. The soldiers are required to apply for it through their respective units on the release of notification.

SSB Schedule:

The SSB dates for TES and SCO batches will be scheduled in September/ October or April/ May.

Schedule of training – every year, 2 batches commence in OTA Gaya. First in January and second in July.

The Procedure of Selection –
  • The shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview At respective SSB centers.
  • The selection procedure consists of 2 stages
  • Stage 1: it has a screening test having Verbal and non-verbal test and PDT test.
  • Those, who made it in stage 1, will be reserved for stage 2 and others will be freed to go home.
  • Stage 2 has a schedule of 4 days which has psychology test, GTO day 1, GTO day 2 and Conference day.
  • Personal interview for the candidates will be conducted in between these days after adjustment with the daily routine and tests.
  • After the conference, the final result is announced and the selected candidates are further sent for the medical test which takes 3-6 days.
  • Finally, a merit list is released having the names of the candidates who are going to join the academy.
