First off, I just want to acknowledge this is a tired question. So thank you so much for reading. It was encouraging to see this subreddit be so positive and welcoming when others have asked in the past!
Who I am: I am a 27 year old American. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Ecology. I went to a good public university but finished with 2.75 GPA.
Why architecture: I was always creative. I was dissuaded from pursuing an art career because of the financial uncertainty. I always drew on nature to inspire my work and taste. That is why I decided to get a degree in ecology.
Today I am a fundraiser for a large environmental non profit. I have grown bored, worn out, and missing that creative side. I was recently Inspired by a story of an architect that used sustainable materials to build her boutique hotel.
I was absolutely captivated and sparked to research topics on biomimicry, mathematics in nature, and how those apply to principles of design. Never in my life have I enjoyed learning so much. It feels like a perfect fit . And never in my life have I imagined myself in a career. Architecture has me energized.
Why I think I am a good candidate: I am still creative. My side business in film has brought me to a couple sustainable resorts across Latin America. My career in the environment has taught me bounds in green infrastructure. With my passion for drawing and inspiration from nature to protect nature will bring a different voice to a team.
So do you think I have the right background? If so, what are the next steps? Do I have the right credentials for a top 30 school? If not, what can I do? How can I get prospective schools to acknowledge me?
Hello all. I’m curious if anyone can figure out if the pillars on the Great Hall of the People in Beijing are all the same size. I cannot tell from pictures alone so I’m hoping maybe you guys can figure it out. Thanks.
