Valid

Hey all! I come to you all in desperation. I'm a curly haired guy (3c-4a) and as of recently I've been struggling with serious flakes and itching within a week of washing.

My hair diet didn't really change much aside from the normal coconut oil, leave in conditioner and Maui shampoo. I deep condition weekly with Shea Moisture Black Castor Oil masque and stay away from any silicone and alcohols (the ones bad anyway). But for some reason this flaking and itching has just got worse.

I tried to use Head and Shoulders. Nothing. Maui with a few drops of Tea Tree oil. Nothing. Cantu ACV wash. Nothing. Dousing my head in coconut oil after every wash. Nothing! I've even cut out just about everything and began just washing with the Maui hair wash and deep conditioning with very light Curls Oil (blueberry Bliss or the Blissful Lengths oil strictly on my hair and not scalp) to absolutely no avail. I've been considering buying what's in the link and hoping it helps but if not, what should I do? Thank you all in advance!

My twist outs are always frizzy, and I have no idea why. Small twists, chunky twists. Doesn't matter. I've tried the As I Am Twist Defining Cream, the TGIN Twist & Define Cream (which I hate), and my favorite the Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter. I twist on damp hair and have a spray bottle nearby to help when it gets too dry. Not sure what it could be. I do the LOC method. My leave in is the Camille Rose Natural Coconut Water Leave In and I seal with Jojoba Oil. The cream whatever cream I'm using to twist. I've given up on the TGIN cream because it's too sticky.

I do the LOC method because it makes my hair feel great but sadly have to do it every other day to keep the moisture. I use Asherlee naturals and African Pride products interchangeably but willing to try different combinations or a different line of products. Whats the best combination of products that you have used for your high porosity hair?

I've tried a few stylist and I lost most of the volume in my hair due to poor detangling practices. Are there stylist that actually take their time to detangle or do they all use combs carelessly?

I know this is an ignorant comment but I just wanna make sure.

I like a lot of dreadlock styles, especially front facing dreads (such as Killmonger's from Black Panther) but I don't think I want to commit to having dreads if they're permanent. I don't wanna have to cut everything off if I find that I don't like them anymore.

How long does it take for finger coils/twists to lock up?

Hi all,

I have 3b, low/medium porosity hair. Back in January I straightened my hair for a trip and afterwards it never fully recovered. I thought that if I went back to my normal routine and gradually cut off the damage, then everything would turn out fine. However, I have seen no growth and little curl recovery, probably because my hair is breaking like crazy! I have never dealt with this much breakage and last week, I noticed that my hair is breaking off pretty bad in the crown area.

I wash once a week and cowash once a week. I do a light protein treatment about every other week and the rest of the time a hair mask. I also oil and massage my scalp twice a week and keep my split ends trimmed. The only new product I have used is the maui moisture charcoal mask, and I put some henna and amla in my usual hair oil.

Does anyone have any advice to offer?

I have 4c, low porosity hair. I wash, deep condition and do the LCO method then twist my hair each week and it turns out nice. After a couple days, my hair starts to get dry again. I spritz it with aloe Vera juice and use Cantu’s curl activator then use some oil. The Cantu product is just too heavy for my hair, I want to keep at least some of my hair somewhat defined but still keep it moisturized.
