At the „Wacken Music Camp“ teenagers have the opportunity to work on their own music being supported by experienced musicians and producers of the scene (musicians from Saxon, Subway To Sally and many others). Known for his significant 6/7 string fretless bass sound Linus Klausenitzer gained international fame. With his Death Metal band Obscura he has toured intensely all around the world.

As a son of two musicians, Linus Klausenitzer was faced with music at a very young age. Before he found his passion in playing the bass when he was 15 years old, he learned to play piano and trumpet. After graduating at a musical secondary school, he studied at the music college in Regensburg and graduated from a study course in popmusic at the conservatory in Hamburg. Having gained experience in bands of several genres, the German bass player found his main place in the genre that he has always loved most: Metal Music.

He started to perform internationally as a band member of Fall of Serenity and his first experimental band Noneuclid.
After recording their masterpiece „Metatheosis“ Noneuclid’s pioneering spirit led to an appearance in the renowned contemporary music festivals “Dag in de Branding” (Den Haag) and “Dutch Music Days” (Amsterdam), where the band premiered the 25-minute death metal symphony “Black Vortex Cathedral” as soloists along with the world famous „Dutch Metropole Orchestra„, in front of a stunned classical audience in the fall of 2008. In 2010, the band embarked on their next symphonic collaboration, this time with Linus’s father Professor Ulf Klausenitzer’s „Bavarian Chamber Orchestra„: „Transition Metal“, an encounter between the music of Richard Wagner and Noneuclid.

In 2011 Linus Klausenitzer joined the band he is most known for: Obscura. Linus started extensive touring on multiple world tours with such renowned artists as Sepultura and Children of Bodom. Later Obscura started to play headliner tours in Europe, Australia, Central/North America (USA, Canada, Mexico) and Asia (Japan, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, …).

In 2014 Linus co-founded the extreme metal band Alkaloid which consists of international high-class musicians, including current and former members of Obscura, Spawn of Possession, Aborted, Dark Fortress, Necrophagist, God Dethroned, Blotted Science and Noneuclid. Alkaloid seamlessly ebb and flow through an arrange of styles and genres, creating an intelligent and fascinating blend of Prog, Death Metal, and Fusion. In 2015 Alkaloid was the first German Death Metal band to ever perform in Egypt.

Later Linus Klausenitzer started to give bass masterclasses („Guitar Summit“, „Popakademie“ and many more) and to be a speaker about „a digital musician“. Digital masterclasses are available at different online platforms like lowenduniversity.com and onlinelessons.tv.

As a studio artist he recorded with musicians like Marco Minnemann (Steven Wilson, Joe Satriani, Kreator, etc.), Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore) and Marty Friedman (Megadeth).

For the very first time, German progressive and technical death metal virtuosos OBSCURA hit Australia and New Zealand!

From their very beginnings in 2002, the band have demonstrated an uncanny ability for blending different forms of technical, cerebral metal into a coherent synthesis of death, thrash and black metal merged with progressive elements. Not one to bend to convention, OBSCURA distinguished themselves and their unique brand of music via the tasteful use of vocal effects, fretless bass, philosophical underpinnings, and other elements rarely touched on in extreme metal.

In 2018, OBSCURA complete their long-running, four-album conceptual circle with the release of Diluvium. Complete with all the band’s signature elements plus groundbreaking polyrhythms, dramatic songwriting, and almost incomparable virtuosity, OBSCURA raise the bar once again with an album that will go down in the annals of metal history as one of the most astonishing performances the genre has to offer.

Complimenting the technical insanity will be Australia’s longstanding metal progressive leaders in ALARUM. Blending all forms of metal alongside rock, jazz, latin and fusion, ALARUM have proven they can match the big names on a worldwide level.

Shifting between frothing black metal hate to slower progressive instrumental interludes and back again, the mysterious SOMNIUM NOX will no doubt leave a chilling impression upon those summoned.

“For my playing I need heaviness and a full tone for higher frequencies. Due to the strong magnetism the output of Ernie Ball Cobalt strings is magnificent. Their sound and quality fit my needs perfectly.” – Linus Klausenitzer

Ernie Ball, the world’s leading manufacturer of strings and accessories, has been making high-quality electric guitar and bass strings since 1962. World-class players like Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Slash, Jimmy Page, and Buddy Guy have all played Ernie Ball strings to create their unique sound.

Cobalt strings provide an extended dynamic range, incredible harmonic response, increased low end, and crisp, clear highs.
Cobalt provides a stronger magnetic relationship between pickups and strings than any other alloy previously available. Cobalt Slinky bass guitar strings are also soft and silky to the touch, making string bending a breeze.

Germany’s progressive death metal masters OBSCURA announce vinyl reissues of the band’s first three albums (Retribution, Cosmogenesis & Omnivium). OBSCURA’s debut album Retribution is now available on vinyl for the first time ever and the long-out-of-print Omnivium is back in stock on 2xLP for the first time since the original release.

OBSCURA | Announce Vinyl Reissues of Retribution, Cosmogenesis & Omnivium; Coming January 25th - YouTube

Omnivium

Omnivium finds the band pushing the progressive edges of the genre’s sounds to new heights while delivering the technical metal that has become their calling card. The band gracefully blends brutality and beauty with complex, commanding songs played at stunningly virtuosic levels. Reissue 2019. Limited to 1000/250 copies, worldwide. Release 25th of January 2019.

Retribution

Their debut Retribution is a beastly album blending the savagery of New York death metal with the fleet-fingered fretting of forerunners Death and Gorguts. Retribution documents the first steps in the journey of one of metals most crucial new bands. First Vinyl Edition. Limited to 1000/250 copies. Release 25th of January 2019.

Cosmogenesis

OBSCURA’s Relapse debut Cosmogenesis is a front-to-back stroke of brilliance that seamlessly fuses modern metals extremity, the upper levels of technical virtuosity, and the symphonic grace of progressive music into a flawless album experience. The band more than justifies their impressive pedigree with what became a timeless classic in the making. Reissue 2019. Limited to 1000 / 250 copies, worldwide. Release 25th of January 2019.
