At PARRS, we are always looking for products that minimise their impact on the environment. This might range from using bio-degradable packaging through to recycled material in our Roll-Step Kick-Step. Therefore we were very pleased when our partners at FORT approached us with a great new range of REACH compliant Sack Trucks. REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is an important European Union regulation that addresses the production and use of chemical substances in the manufacture of products. It then evaluates the impact of these products on both human health and the environment. In the manufacture of sack trucks it is important to look at the chemicals used in the manufacture of the wheels and FORT have analysed their chemical content in order to minimise the environmental impact of their manufacture. REACH has several aims: To provide a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the use of chemicals. To make the people who place chemicals on the market (manufacturers and importers responsible for understanding and managing the risks associated with their use.) To allow the free movement of substances on the EU market. To enhance innovation in and the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry. To promote the use of alternative […]
The purpose of the sack truck will narrow down what type of sack truck you will need. Here are some key points to consider: How often will the sack truck be used? A sack truck that will be used on a daily basis should be seen as a long-term investment. EXPRESSO, in our opinion, manufacture the best aluminium sack trucks in the world; they are ergonomically designed and modular by design meaning you should never need to replace the truck. RAVENDO is our premium European steel range. What is the weight of the goods to be transported? You need to consider how much weight the sack truck will be transporting and you need to select a truck that can cope with the weight for safety purposes. The symbol identifies the maximum load capacity; loading more weight on the sack truck than is advised is dangerous for the user and can cause damage to the truck too. Which foot-iron? It is not true that the largest foot-iron takes the largest load. Larger foot-irons allow the user to stack multiple items. Dual foot-irons allow the user to accommodate different load sizes and the folding foot-irons allow for easier storage when the truck is not in use. […]
Effective manual handling is often a case of finding a simple solution to a complicated problem. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHOR) define manual handling as: “…any transporting or supporting of a load (including the lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving thereof) by hand or bodily force”. In all walks of life we are required to move a heavy or awkward items, these can often also be expensive. Therefore the equipment we use must be reliable and practical. A dolly is a simple, cost-effective piece of equipment. It can be used almost anywhere and is particularly suited to warehouse or office environments. When you are looking for a dolly, there are a number of things to look out for: Wheels The quality and capability of any dolly comes down to the wheels. A poorly attached wheel or a flimsy wheel bracket will not support a significant load and could cost a lot more than the value of the dolly itself. When buying a dolly, look for high quality wheels. You may want to specify a non-marking wheel or a rubber wheel for a smoother ride. Surface We recommend a non-slip surface on the platform to keep the […]
