Content Marketing. The key thing to remember in content marketing is your audience. Who are they? What problems do they have? What questions are they asking? What are their pain points? Effective content is the kind of content that alleviates pain.

Here’s a few ways you can do all these:

  • Create personas of your ideal reader. Flesh it out with everything about this person and use it as a guide.
  • Research where your ideal reader hangs out online and listen in on their conversations.
  • Conduct a survey asking your ideal reader what they struggle with and write posts about the answers to their questions.

Niche Content. The catch about blogging is that there are plenty of content online, and it is basically extra difficult to stand out and build a good following. The key is to provide a unique, niche content – the sort of niche where only a few dare discuss.


Research about what people are looking for and how the current web contents address this inquiries. You can use Google AdWords, and other keyword research tools.

Step 4: Generating Traffic

The success of your site, in terms of monetizing it, lies not only in your content, but more so in the number of people who come in, stay, and come back to your site – we call that traffic. Indeed, driving traffic requires more work – from creating content, to getting this great content to people.

The major sources of traffic are the organic (search-engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing), social (from Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.), referral (referred through other websites), and direct traffic (when visitors go to your page directly by typing in your web address).

Prioritize your social and organic traffic.

Social Media Traffic. Social Media has the potential to open up your content to a whole tribe of interested people. With the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest, sweeping the world with their massive networking potential, it’s fairly easy to be found and heard.

Search-engine Optimization (SEO). When a user go to Google, or Yahoo and try to look for something, your goal is that your website comes at the very first page of the search-engine results page (SERPs). An SE-optimized website is favored by these search-engines, and display them in the front pages.

Optimization is a tedious task and it’s a long-term goal. The most basic SEO hack is keywords, and quality. The emphasis is more on quality and value but there are still things you can do to encourage a better performance:

  • Research keywords using sites like Google Keyword Planner to find out what people are searching for, in relation to your niche
  • Add your keyword naturally into your post title
  • Use your keyword sparingly within the body of your post
  • Place your keyword in the title and alt title of any images you’re using within that post
  • Use the keyword in your meta description (while this is no longer a factor in search engine optimization, it’s still useful to do this to prompt readers to click-through)

Email Marketing. Every blogger must be diligent enough to keep a list of their subscribers and make sure they stay in touch with your blog. You can send them interesting updates on a daily, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, and keep them interested with your site. This is the key to maintaining a solid readership, and ensure sustained traffic to your site.

Step 5: Monetization

Now, how do bloggers earn through blogging? Well, there are a number of ways such as advertising, and affiliate marketing.

Advertising. Advertising is one of the most common ways to monetize your blog and can come in various formats such as:

  • Banner advertising – such as Google AdSense, Bing, Facebook and other ad platforms
  • InfoLinks – You can earn more money with Infolinks
  • Sponsored reviews – whereby you’re paid to review a product or service in return to for you honest opinion
  • Sponsored posts – in this instance a brand or PR will pay for you to write about their product or service and include a link back to their website (be sure to no-follow any paid links to stay within Google’s guidelines and best practices)

Affiliate Marketing. Affiliate marketing  placing a banner or a link within a post / somewhere on your blog, which links back to a product or service. When someone purchases through your link, you’ll earn a commission.

There are many affiliate marketing programs you can tap:

The key with affiliate programs is to just promote products you would endorse and actually use yourself. But remember to keep whatever it is you want to market as an affiliate relevant to your audience, otherwise, you’ll end up a failure.

Product Creation. You can use a blog, or a website to sell something. Your website will serve as an online product description or brochure of whatever product you want to sell such as eBooks, videos, elearning materials, whitepapers, and many more.

Freelancing. Your blog can also serve as a broadcasting platform. If you have a business on the side of your day job, or you have it full-time, you can use a blog to promote whatever it is that you do.

INGREDIENTS:

For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. granulated sugar (turbinado, coconut or organic brown sugar all work)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. chilled water
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch

For the Stir-Fry

  • 1-8 oz. package seitan strips (or make your own )
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp. freshly grated ginger
  • 2-3 dried chili peppers, halved (optional)
  • 2 scallions, cut into 1 inch pieces

For Serving

  • Cooked rice or rice noodles
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Make the sauce by stirring soy sauce, sugar and 1/4 cup of water or broth together in a small bowl. Stir cornstarch and chilled water together in a small cup. Set aside.
  2. Drain the seitan and discard liquid. Place cornstarch into a medium bowl and add seitan strips. Toss to coat.
  3. Coat the bottom of a large skillet with oil and place over medium-high heat. Add seitan in as even a layer as possible. Cook until strips are browned and crisp on bottoms, about 4-5 minutes. Flip and cook 4-5 minutes more, until strips are crispy on opposite sides. Remove seitan from skillet and transfer to a paper-towel lined plate.
  4. Lower heat to medium. Add garlic, ginger and dried chilies, if using, to skillet. Sauté 2 minutes, until very fragrant and chilies begin to darken a bit. Return seitan to skillet with sauce, cornstarch mixture and scallions. Flip a few times to coat, and cook just until sauce becomes very thick, about 2 minutes.
  5. Divide noodles or rice onto plates and top with seitan. Serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • ½ cup red onion, chopped
  • 1 pound ground turkey meat (lean, white meat)
  • ⅓ cup ketchup (I use Annie’s Natural Organic Ketchup which doesn’t contain high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors. It is also vegan, gluten-free, soy-free and dairy-free).
  • 1 tablespoon organic light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (or more to taste)
  • ⅛ teaspoon fine grain sea salt (or more to taste)
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. In a large saute pan heat oil over medium heat and add bell pepper, onion and turkey meat. Saute for about 10 minutes or until meat is browned/cooked, onions are translucent and peppers are tender.
  2. Add remaining ingredients to pan and stir over low heat until well combined.
  3. Serve hot over plain, cooked quinoa
  4. Tip: double the recipe so you can freeze for another meal.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 pounds boneless beef chuck (well-marbled), cut into 1-1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 medium yellow onions, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 7 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups dry red wine
  • 2 cups beef broth (I like the Pacific organic brand)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 4 large carrots, peeled and cut into one-inch chunks on a diagonal
  • 1 pound small white boiling potatoes (baby yukons), cut in half
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Preheat oven to 325°F with rack in middle.
  2. Pat beef dry and season salt and pepper. In a large Dutch oven or heavy pot, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat until hot and shimmering. Brown meat in 3 batches, turning with tongs, about 5-8 minutes per batch, adding one tablespoon more oil for each batch. (To sear meat properly, do not crowd the pan and let meat develop brown crust before turning with tongs.) Transfer meat to a large plate and set aside.
  3. Add onions, garlic and balsamic vinegar; cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to scrape brown bits from bottom of pan, about 5 minutes. Add tomato paste and cook a few minutes more. Add beef with juices back to pan and sprinkle with flour; stir with wooden spoon until flour is dissolved, 1-2 minutes. Add wine, beef broth, water, bay leaf, thyme, and sugar; stir with wooden spoon to loosen any brown bits from bottom of pan and bring to a boil. Cover pot with lid, transfer to preheated oven and braise for 2 hours.
  4. Remove pot from oven and add carrots and potatoes. Cover and place back in oven for 50-60 minutes more, or until vegetables are cooked and meat is very tender. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary (freshly ground black pepper and a pinch of sugar go a long way). Let cool, then store in refrigerator overnight or until ready to serve. This stew improves in flavor if made at least 1 day ahead. Reheat, covered, over medium heat or in a 350°F oven. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Cancer is a disease that you should never take lightly. There are cases where it strikes quickly but often, cancer manifests after years of specific habits. Good examples of this are smoking and overexposure to ultraviolet rays, which result in lung cancer and skin cancer, respectively.

Experts estimate that more than half the cases of cancer diagnosed in the United States – more than 1.6 million in 2014 – are preventable with lifestyle changes.

There is one area of your daily life that dramatically affects your – and survival – of cancer. The food and beverages you consume, the fuel your body uses to fight disease, is critical to your overall wellbeing. Some foods are worse for you than others and could be increasing your risk of many conditions and diseases. While cancer is one of the worst, regularly eating the foods in our top ten list can also lead to heart disease, diabetes, and chronic inflammation.

Top Ten Cancer Causing Foods to Avoid 1. Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs).

In order to make crops more resistant to pests, scientists insert a special gene, called Bt-toxin – derived from Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria – into corn and cotton plants. The toxin attacks the stomach lining of nibbling insects, killing the pests within a couple of days of ingestion. More than 65 percent of U.S. corn crops contain this special gene that produces the insecticide.

Another alarming fact: 80% of the processed food items in your local supermarket contain genetically modified ingredients. This means that if you are a U.S. resident, you are undoubtedly eating genetically modified foods.

These genetically modified foods have been sneaking into our diets since 1995, when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) analyzed the first genetically engineered plant – corn. Today, 90% of several U.S. crops are grown with genetically engineered seed.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are “organisms in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in such a way that it does not occur naturally.” Scientists insert a gene from one organism into another to “improve” or change the organism.

2. Microwave Popcorn

Microwave popcorn is subject to a wide-ranging lung cancer debates around the world. Not only are the kernels and oil likely GMO (which the manufacturer does not have to disclose) unless organic, but the fumes released from artificial butter flavoring contain diacetyl, which is toxic to humans.
