It’s understandable that parents of allergy-effected children and people suffering from allergies would be nervous before traveling. As always, preparation is key.  To help get ready and manage traveling with allergies, top travel bloggers have shared their tips for managing food, dust, pet, and mosquito allergies while on the road. Before you travel: Make a list of your allergies and include any information from doctors in case you need background information or medical history. Make a folder in photos on your phone and photograph and file any important information and records. Get scripts from your doctor and take precautionary medication with you. Plan your flights – take a small cooler bag on the plane with you with suitable food and snacks Pack snacks in your backpack/suitcase for your destination to take to restaurants and when out and about. Research your destination – join local Facebook parent or expat groups and ask about allergy-related information, like allergy-friendly restaurants and doctors. Contact your accommodation/bookings and advise of the allergies and let them know of any precautions they […]

We just had our very first family ski holiday in Japan, at Club Med Tomamu – and it wasn’t just our first family ski holiday in Japan, it was our first family ski holiday EVER. Without exaggerating, it was AMAZING. I always thought we were strictly sunshine people but now I know we are both, and that a snow holiday isn’t as scary and overwhelming as I thought it was. We reckon it’s the best family ski holiday in Japan we could have had, especially since we are total beginners, because everything was so easy and the snow and resort was excellent. And we were just so HAPPY! It was the best trip.   The holiday being so easy wasn’t because of me or my good planning or anything like that. It was because we were on a Club Med holiday and they did almost everything for us, leaving us to enjoy a stress-free trip. I had always been reluctant about going to the snow with Emmie, simply because I’d never been and I had no idea about what I needed to do – ski lessons, lift passes, clothing, skis and boots, where to stay, how to get there? It was […]

Thinking of visiting Vancouver with kids? Our advice is definitely do it! We found Vancouver to be a super friendly city with lots of diverse family activities for everyone to enjoy. It’s an amazing place to be outside and there’s a huge focus on the outdoors – so even when you’re not exploring the mountains you can stroll around the harbourside, play in the many parks and enjoy the big open skies. We flew to Vancouver with Air Canada from Sydney and it was an awesome trip where we had our first taste of Canadian friendliness, and the crew even gave Emmie a signed route map from the Captain. It was a really lovely flight. We stayed at the Opus Hotel in lovely rooms and a fabulous location on Davie Street (but be warned that the bathroom floor to ceiling windows are see-through and yes that nice family eating dinner in the apartment across from you can see you!). We had only few days to explore, and we definitely want to return and spend longer in Vancouver – but here are our favourite things to do in Vancouver with kids. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park This beautiful park is only 20 […]

It’s amazing just how much there is to do in Siem Reap for families. The awe inspiring temples at Angkor were a huge bucket list item for us, and although that’s why many families find themselves here too, there is so much more to do in Siem Reap with kids that will make it even better than you expected. We call Siem Reap our Spirit Town – we feel happy and at home while we are here. We’ve flown in and gone overland but if you’re more of a tour person check out Webjet Exclusives. The Khmer people are so kind and have beautiful hearts – you’ll love it as much as we do. Here’s some of our fave things to do in Siem Reap for families: Angkor Wat Putt Mr Tee has worked hard to build his miniature golf complex, and his passion shows in the attention to detail and pristine condition of this amazing course. Most of all, it’s a super fun activity for parents and kids and supports Mr Tee and his family in their fabulous endeavour to bring putt putt golf to Siem Reap! Located about 15 minutes out of Siem Reap town opposite rice paddies and with […]

I reckon the best place to find travel information is in family travel blogs. They’re what I rely on when I need info because they’re written by families who have travelled to the place I’m going, and I know their intel will be good! Family travel blogs share valuable inside information with the child focus and detail you need for planning a family trip, and they have independent tips, product reviews and hacks for family travel. It’s sometimes hard to find these blogs – they’re often hidden way down the list in search results, so I’ve pulled together a list of some of the best family travel blogs on the world wide web to help you plan your next trip, or at least get you inspired to start.   www.mumpacktravel.com Solo parent and full-time travel This is me, Evie, and my daughter Emmie. I write about our adventures, especially the 2.5 years of full time travel we spent in Asia. I’m a solo mum and I hope my blog helps other solo parents know they’re more than capable of taking their kids on life-changing adventures. Find us on Instagram and Facebook.     www.familycantravel.com Outdoor adventure travel We are a […]

This is a sponsored post for Adero – but my opinions are absolutely my own and I LOVE this product! If you’re like me, you often spend those final 10 minutes in the house before heading out frantically searching for your keys…or wallet, or phone, or camera. We have to remember so many things, and often it’s only after I’ve left home that I realise I’ve forgotten something important and I have to race back. Honestly this is me almost every day. I have no idea how I can misplace my keys at least once every 24 hours, but I do. For the past week I’ve been trialing the new @MyAdero intelligent organisation system to keep track of the essentials I need in my handbag, and it’s totally reduced my morning anxiety and made me more organised. Hooray! Using Adero has put my mind at rest because I know that if I can’t find my keys, Adero will locate them for me. And it’s done it for me every day this week with a 100% success rate. In fact, my nine-year-old Emmie is so impressed that instead of rolling her eyes at my frantic morning scramble, she is asking to […]

Note: We cruised as guests of Carnival Cruise Lines on board the Carnival Legend.  I’m going to let you in on my secret to having the best time cruising with kids – jump aboard with an open mind and take part in absolutely everything! Carnival Cruise Lines knows how to deliver days of awesome activities for all the family and there’s always something to do no matter what time or wherever you are on the ship. It’s an absolute hoot, but you have to take part to really experience the fun of cruising. Emmie (eight-years-old at the time) and I boarded the Carnival Legend in Sydney as first-timers and nine days later we farewelled the ship and its staff as very happy cruisers. Cruising was entirely different to anything we’d done before, and it took us a little getting used to. Once we embraced the cruising life though, we had an absolute ball. Our ship sailed to the Pacific Islands, just over two full days away by sea from our departure port of Sydney, Australia.  Our days were divided in Sea Days and Shore Days. On Sea Days there was a super full schedule of amazing activities that we couldn’t […]

Dubai is an amazing city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates and is perfect for a stopover with kids on your next holiday.  It has a diverse range of family-friendly activities that are perfect for filling in a few days on a Dubai stopover with kids – from theme parks and desert safaris, to luxury malls and of course, the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa.  It’s a fabulous destination to stop and explore no matter where you are coming from or going to. You can also use it as a base to explore more of the United Arab Emirates and venture further afield to islands, out into the desert or into neighbouring countries of Oman and Abu Dhabi.  We spent three days in Dubai and we were chock-a-block with amazing activities! Here are our favourite things to do on a stopover in Dubai with kids.  Ski Dubai: A ski field and resort inside the Mall of the Emirates, this is a fabulous activity for families – even if you can’t ski (like us)!  We did everything we could like tobogganing, sledding, riding the chair lift and rolling downhill in the giant snowball.  Em had one of […]

Our Club Med Bali trip is going to be fabulous. This is the kind of trip I dreamed of when I first started mumpack travel. I was sitting at a resort with one year old Emmie, and I wasn’t sitting, I was playing in the sand and I was thinking how much fun I would be having if there were other mums there with me. And I wanted to start trips for groups of mums. That was years and years ago and now we have the adventure trips – but this is the kids of restorative, relaxing trip I know many mums crave. This is what our Club Med trip is going to be like. A bunch of mums actually able to have free time while the kids play together and do all that awesome kid stuff that Club Med does so well. Mums just relaxing, chatting, swimming and having wine time. I’m so in. You can read about our recent stay at Club Med Kabira here to find out a little more about it, and this is the link to Club Med Bali. Prices are ALL INCLUSIVE. This means that everything is included as soon as you land. Transfers, accommodation, […]
