The moment Angela was called to receive the award, I could feel Tope cringe. I turned to my side and caught her rolling her eyes and mumbling some words under her breath. “What’s up, Tope?” I asked. “We did that project together” Tope said. “In fact, it was my idea in the first place. Why should she be the one receiving an award and not me?”.

I have realized that comparison is one of the biggest cause of discouragement and lack of authenticity among people.
“Whatever your passion is, keep doing it. Don’t waste time chasing after success or comparing yourself to others. Every flower blooms at a different pace. Excel at doing what your passion is and only focus on perfecting it. Eventually people will see what you are great at doing, and if you are truly great, success will come chasing after you.” - Suzy Kassem.”
I love the part that says that eventually people will see what you are great for and success will begin to chase after you.
Maybe you are presently horning your skills and you are yet to attract all the great opportunities you have ever wanted.
Maybe you are getting tired of seeing other people’s dream coming to light while you are somewhere in your room waiting for luck to shine on you.
Truth is, preparation meets opportunities. If you don’t prepare well, you may not be able to identify or maximize opportunities when they come.
Are you like Jane below?
One day, Jane flipped through her goals in her journal.
Why was everything happening too slow? She thought!
She wondered why she wasn't having the same privileges showcased by her colleagues on social media.
Gradually, she began to process the thought till she became moody and sad. ________ “I'm not achieving anything", she echoed in her mind. I wish I had this... I wish I had that...
She remained lost in the thought until hours flew. At the end of the day, she couldn't do her to do list for the day. _______
Are you still living in comparison?
“Galatians 6:4-5 (NLT) “Pay careful attentions to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.”
The Bible has made it clear that you should enjoy the satisfaction from your own progress rather than chasing after people’s success for wrong reasons. Be happy for them if you want suc experiences.
Wondering why you are not progressing so fast?
“Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle, or your middle to someone else’s end. Don’t compare the start of your second quarter of life to someone else’s third quarter.” -Tim Hiller.”
In life, there are stages and you have to be careful not to compare your phase D with your friends/colleagues/whoever's phase K.
Life is a journey.
Comparison steals your joy, time, focus and power. .
Here are few ways that you can avoid comparison and focus on your progress:
1. Be grateful for your unique journey and understand that life is a process. Journal your victories as you move on in life.
2. Create time to reflect on your journey and make corrections where you need to.
3. Dig into your Spirit for inspirations and unique ideas.
4. Surround yourself with people that motivate you to be a better version of yourself.
5. Embrace your uniqueness in every way.
6. Instead of envying the people you compare yourself with, be happy for them and you will attract such opportunities.
7. Keep preparing yourself to deserve more and identify great opportunities when they come.
8. Seek out for opportunities instead of waiting for luck to shine on you, for there is no such thing as luck. It’s either you knock on opportunities or you identify and maximize it when it comes.
You were created for a purpose and God understands your path more.
Learn the lessons in your journey and keep moving.
Refuse to be stoppable by the noise in the world. All things are working for your good.

Have you noticed that there are times when you feel incapable of achieving certain goals? On one hand, you’re told to dream bigger but on the other hand, all you see are obstacles in your way. Here are three positive statements you need to keep moving towards your goals:
1. I can do it mindset
Are you always quick to think that it’s impossible for you to achieve certain things? Do you always assume that you can’t do it and that someone else qualifies more to do it then it’s time to turn around and see yourself as the only one who can do it. Stop thinking that you can’t do it. Yes, you can. There are certain things that only you can do.
“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]- PHILIPPIANS 4:13 AMP”
2. I have what it takes spirit
It’s very normal for us to assume that we don’t have the complete resources, tools or skills to carry certain projects.
“It’s not what you don’t have that limits you, it’s what you have but don’t know how to use it. - Steve Harris”
Every time you think you need to have it all together before you start, you deny the creative power of God in you. God has put the right resources in your environment, your friends or relationships and you have to be sensitive enough to know when to look inward and see the solutions you need in yourself.
3. All things are possible mentality
Do you mostly doubt that some things can’t just happen because they don’t agree with your present situation?
Do you feel weighed down by the limitations, scarcity and barrier around you that you feel you can’t make that goal work? Which of these personality traits will you embrace more of?

Have you ever wondered why the Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness? Was it because they had enemies or because they became their own enemy?
When God gave the Israelites promises and instructions about entering into the promise land, he promised to provide, guide and protect them but they doubted all the way.
They had issues with trusting God completely and this made them to continue:
Whatever situation you are facing presently, you need to hold on to God’s word concerning it.
If you are sick and God says you are healed, you may not feel an instant change but your positive belief into that promise will accelerate your healing.
If you are not trusting God but looking out for men to help you, it can keep you frustrated for long. When God gives a promise, He does it in his own timing. You can’t threaten Him to do it immediately because all His plans and timing are working together for your good.
When you doubt all the time, it makes you unstable and that can stop you from getting access to the promise or whatsoever you are asking for. All you need to do is to have a sincere motive behind your desire, pray about it with gratitude and believe that it is done and it will be according to your faith.
If you want your business to grow, pray to God for ideas and strategy and believe that He will send resources your way. It may not happen the way that you planned it but it will come.
Doubt stops you from truly trusting. Doubt keeps away the rewards you want. Doubt keeps you stagnated for a long time.
You want to be unstoppable? Go ahead and believe God for the process.
“To believe is to be strong. Doubt, cramps energy. Belief is power.
— - Frederick W. Robertson”
Search your heart right now and ask yourself if you have been doubting God for some things he’s yet to do in your ministry, business or marriage. If you find any trace of doubt, take some time to reaffirm your belief in God’s promises.
