Why You Need This Hyaluronic Acid Ampoule - M Review 87

Coxir Ultra HA Ampoule

Price $19.50

Weight: 50 mL

If there’s one ingredient I can’t live without adding into my skincare routine, it’s Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Now, don’t let the “acid” part scare you away; this isn’t one of those acidic acids that’ll burn you! In fact, our bodies naturally make hyaluronic acid. It’s a naturally occurring sugar molecule in our bodies that acts as a binding agent for water. So why not include it in our skincare routine?

This humectant is an amazing ingredient. When your skin is well hydrated, it stays plump which means a visually reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It works so well not only because our body produces this molecule but it also has an amazing penetration ability to seep deep into our skin for a higher efficacy.

I use this every single day and night; it does not leave a tacky finish or pill up so I’m rest assured that I can easily incorporate it into the rest of my skincare routine. Imagine if your skin just drank a glass of water; so refreshed and hydrated. That’s what this ampoule does for you! Its viscous texture holds the moisture so well to your skin all the while giving you a revitalizing feel.

Other than the main component of this ampoule, take a look at the other ingredients:

Water, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, Sodium Polyacrylate, PVM/MA Copolymer, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Butylene glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG/PPG-18/4 Copolymer, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Carbomer, Panthenol, Allantoin, Triethanolamine, Xanthan GUM, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin

There are at least a handful of other moisturizing elements, allantoin as an anti-inflammatory ingredient and a pH adjuster so your skin stays at the balanced pH for your skin. This blend of ingredients are simple yet so effective; thankfully does not include a ton of filler ingredients! If you haven’t included HA into your routine, I highly suggest you start. I guarantee you’ll feel a difference!

KLAVUU: Your Best Friend for Radiant Summer Skin - M Review 85

It feels like summer already so there’s a big chance you’re starting to think about your vacation plans. Trip to the beach? A cabin at the mountains? The commodity of your couch? No matter the plans there’s two things you need to make sure you have figured out before starting any holiday plans: the right wardrobe and your travel-friendly skincare routine.

Now, when traveling our skin tends to get a little weird. The temperature and environmental  changes can be really hard on our complexion and it comes with no surprise that we find ourselves with more pimples than usual or with our skin looking and feeling flaky or dryer. For that same reason is important that for a trip we don’t only bring with us the regular skincare products we use but also some powerful formulas to keep our skin on the healthy & calm side.

Trying to find new brands to add to my summer kit this year I found out about Klavuu, the first K-Beauty brand infusing their products with natural pearl extract, essential oils and marine plants in order to accomplish more enriched, hydrated and firm skin, all to get your skin to look radiant no matter the environment.

While they have a huge range of products you can choose from, there’s two in particular that caught my attention as they seemed to be a great way to improve my travel routine.

Pure Pearlsation PH & Balancing Quick Cleansing Pad

Ok, these are like nothing I’ve ever tried before. These exfoliating + cleansing pads are basically a simple way to wipe away impurities and even traces of makeup from your skin.

Soaked in pearl extract to hydrate, brighten and tone for a non-greasy, clean feel and marine collagen and saccharomyces ferment filtrate to calm down and refresh our complexion, these are what travel dreams are made of. All these ingredients together end up in a formula that helps balance out our skin’s pH, which will at the end prevent it from stressing out and be able to protect itself.

Something amazing about these pads is how much bigger they are in comparison to regular pads. They’re basically the-whole-palm-of-your-hand big! Now, while they’re very good to remove makeup, I’d still use a makeup remover before them in case you wanna have them be part of your routine at night time. I actually think of them more of like a morning time cleanser or even for the plane!

Personal Care Aurora Pearl Eye Mask - Brightening Revitalizing

You’ve probably already heard about hydrogel eye patches. They’re actually a great alternative for trips, but what if I told you there’s something even better out there? This full-sized eye mask - AKA, it doesn’t only cover the skin under your eyes but also all that’s around it - is formulated to brighten up your skin while diminishing the appearance of fine lines. Made with high-concentrated pearl essence extract, this is an amazing option to apply at the end of the day in order to give your eye-area the rest it deserves.

Only thing you need to do is cleanse your skin before putting it on and then relax for 20-30 minutes while the goggle-like mask works its magic.

Are you taking a trip this summer? What are your summer skincare staples? Klavuu definitely made it to my permanent list.

The Cleanser Everyone and Their Mothers are OBSESSED with - M Review 83

Whenever I get asked about ways to keep someone’s skin healthy I ask back two questions: “Do you wear sunscreen?” and “How’s your cleansing routine like?”. Those two steps right there can totally change the way you do skincare, and believe me, results will be seen as soon as you find the right answers for you.

Thing is, with cleansers majority of the people tend to think the stronger the better. There’s this myth going around that as long as your face feels like a mummy right after you cleanse then it’s working. Oh my, I feel like crying everytime I hear that. The common belief is that, if you’re on the oily/acne prone skin side you should try to get rid of all sebum and oils on your skin and that will get rid of all your skin problems. WRONG! Stripping our skin away from its natural oils will only cause the opposite effect: for our skin to generate even more oil in order to balance out the lack of it, AKA, we’re making the problem worst.

For the same reason I always try to guide people to try moisturizing cleansers, those with the right pH (between 4.5 and 5.5), foamy but not bubbly and of course with ingredients that will help your skin stay hydrated all day long! A couple of months ago I saw everyone on Instagram raving over these new cleansers and got so curious, basically because I didn’t read a single bad review, so I had to put my hands on it and my skin to the test.

I’m talking about HuangJiSoo, the brand that seems to be taking over skincare routines by storm! As my skin tends to get dehydrated I went on and tried the Pure Daily Foaming Cleanser on its moisturizing version, and Oh, boy… now I understand why it’s so popular.

First things first, this cleanser is formulated 99.5% with pure botanical ingredients, which, believe it or not, it’s a HUGE accomplishment in the beauty industry. As it is vegan, cruelty free, dermatologically tested and carries an EWG Verification, this cleanser is safe to use even for those with super sensitive skin. Containing ingredients such as mulberry extract, wheat seed extract, chamomile, and grape seed, this formula helps protect the skin’s natural moisture barrier while soothing, hydrating and nourishing our complexion, AKA, a real life savior for those who - like me - tend to get dehydrated skin very easily. But that’s not it! This super gentle foam cleanser also features oatmeal, which maintains oil and moisture balance on our skin.

I personally feel like this is the perfect cleanser for those looking for a everyday option that’s not gonna affect their hydration levels or mess with combination/sensitive skin. While it really works for everyone, those who suffer from dry patches, redness, acne prone or sensitive skin can make amazing use of this formula, as it will prepare your skin to receive and absorb all the rest of your skincare routine.

In terms of it being a morning or nighttime cleanser, I rather using it during nighttime after my oil cleanser, as it leaves my skin plump and ready for a good night's sleep.

NEOGEN Real Flower Calendula Cleansing Water

The NEOGEN Real Flower Calendula Cleansing Water is a great addition to my skincare routine. After cleansing and removing my makeup for the day, I like to swipe my face with a cotton saturated with cleansing water to get rid of any makeup residue leftover. And let me tell you… this took off what I could not see after I cleansed. I’ll be honest; it was not a pretty sight, what I saw on the cotton. But my skin felt extra clean after I toned with this cleansing water.

The aesthetics of this product is just so eye-catching. The real calendula petals in this offers a rich combination of nourishing extracts that soothes your skin while removing any makeup residue or dirt that was left behind. Other beneficial ingredients formulated in here are centella asiatica extract, arnica Montana flower extract and Cucumber extract (so great for soothing!). Unsurprisingly, this gives off a lovely floral scent that is not too overpowering.

This is a whopping 300 ml product that will last you a good while. I use this twice a day and have barely made a dent in it so it is definitely worth it. I think combo to oily skin friends will benefit the most from this because it is not a heavy product yet gives a bit of hydration and does not try tacky. My keratosis pilaris affected areas on my face especially love this product because it calms the redness and reduces irritation. I highly recommend this and give it a two thumbs up!!

Jayjun Honey Dew Green - M Review 81

If you know me, you know I stan Jayjun. I never tried the Honey Dew Green Mask before. The ingredient niacinamide is high up on the list so I’m expecting some good brightening. It also contains manuka honey and propolis as well as some “green stuff” like green tea, kiwi, avocado and spinach. Even the sheet material is green...and so soft.I can smell some alcohol in it, but it is not that bad. I mostly smell honey and fruit.

The serum has a nice slip to it and the mask itself is very juicy. The mask is also very roomy, almost fits my whole face (good if you have a wide man face lol) I left this mask on for 10 minutes before heading to the gym (yeah I’m that extra) to see how this mask works.

After taking it off, it was very glossy, not sticky, super smooooth! There was a thin film left behind but that doesn’t bother me too much. Overall, my complexion is definitely looking brighter.

Right off the top, i know this is gonna be olesensory,.,cause it says FRAGRANCE. It has niacinamide as the fourth ingredient, and it has some plant stem cell extract and evening primrose. Oh yeah this smells like a garden. Look how big it is. If you have a wide man face....Jayjun I lvoe you. It smells like walking into a spa. The sheet material is amazing. I’m looking for skin luminoisity, and hydration. Kinda shook at how soft and plush and smooth and BIG the Purple Fragrance Mask is. Smell isnt overpowering...smells like walking into a spa or a garden. It has a very mild brightening effect. I like a lot of their other masks but my skin is looking ultra healthy now.

Ingredient Spotlight: Hyaluronic Acid for Water-full Skin - M Tips 80

Can you guess what one of the most popular and common skincare ingredients is? If you guessed Hyaluronic Acid, you’re right on the mark! Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is one of the most popular moisturizing ingredients in skincare today. You may often find this ingredient labeled as “sodium hyaluronate”. This ingredient might sound “boring” but it is has a bunch of benefits that everyone’s skin will love! This M Blog will be an “Ingredient Spotlight” with hyaluronic acid taking center stage.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Did you know that HA is actually a naturally occuring substance in the human body? So, everyone has this ingredient being produced in the body. It is considered a glycosaminoglycan (try pronouncing that at one go) that plays an important part in supporting cell structure - most often found in our eyes, joints, and connective tissue.

Despite having the word “acid” in its name, this ingredient is not an chemical exfoliant like AHA, BHA, or PHA. It’s safe to use for ALL skin types - we all naturally produce it anyways! .

Skin-cab Lesson:

Humectant: a substance used to retain or preserve moisture

What will HA do for my skin?

As mentioned in the diagram above, hyaluronic acid’s main function is to retain moisture in the skin for a hydrated complexion. Even though it’s a naturally occuring substance in our bodies, we tend to produce less of it as our bodies age. Our skin becomes drier, loses moisture retention, and isn’t as elastic or firm. The last thing we want is our skin to look dehydrated and aging.

Hyaluronic acid is able to boost up the hydration for a more supple complexion. Your skin will appear more plump while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Imagine the hyaluronic acid filling in those lines with capsules of water - water-full skin"! Using HA in your skincare routine will give you both hydrating and anti-aging benefits for a healthy and younger complexion.

Product Recommendations:

[COSRX] Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence
  • COSRX fanatics unite! I loved using this HA essence, especially during the winter where my oily-combo skin leaned more dry and dehydrated. I’ve always trusted COSRX to cater to my sensitive skin, and this product is no different. It’s such a nice layering product for that extra boost of hydration. My skin looked like it had a nice drink of water. Sometimes I would even put this under a matte foundation to bring out a subtle dew from within. For my dry skin girls, this would be an additional layer of moisture to combat any form of dryness.

[JM Solution] Water Luminous S.O.S Ringer Mask
  • You know it’s good when you buy a whole box of masks. I appreciate a lot of the JM Solution masks, but if you want a HA kick, this is the one to use. This mask actually contains 5 types of hyaluronic acid to maximize moisture from deep within the skin. My skin felt super plumped and hydrated as if it drank a whole gallon of water. I may stray away from this as the hot and humid summer arrives, but until then I will most definitely be finishing the box of these guys!

[Neogen] Black Volume Cream
  • This cream is definitely an underrated Neogen product If you’re looking for the anti-aging benefits of HA then look no further. Just like the name says, this cream volumizes the skin with moisture.  There are 119 natural ingredients that work together to hydrate, brighten, and plump the skin - HA being one of them. With HA being an active ingredient (the first five main ingredients), this cream gives instantly hydrates the skin with a pleasant gel formula that glides over the skin. A little goes a long way! But if you wanted to use this as a sleeping mask, you definitely could layer this cream on - you’ll love the results the next morning!

Check out the Hydro-Glow Collection for deals on Hyaluronic Acid products!

Until the next one,

Stay Glowing~

Innisfree Olive Real Serum - M Review 79

I'm always on the lookout for products that are super moisturizing while incorporating natural ingredients, and the Innisfree Olive line seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I loved the Innisfree Olive Real Essential Oil, so the Innisfree Olive Real Serum seemed like the logical next product to try.

I love products with olive oil, but I recognize that not everyone may feel the same way. Olive oil products generally have a slightly thicker (but not necessarily more oily feeling) texture, which is amazing for dry or dehydrated skin. The Innisfree Olive Real Serum is no exception, with a delightfully creamy and rich texture. In fact, for a serum, it is quite thick, almost a light lotion or emulsion consistency. I found that I really couldn't layer too many products on top of the Innisfree Olive Serum, so I generally used it after all my toners and serums, and just before my night cream.

I love the inclusion of organic olive oil from Crete. Olive oil has natural polyphenols and antioxidants that can protect your skin from oxidative stress (a.k.a. aging) in addition to moisturizing and softening the skin. It also contains squalane and mango and shea butters. As you can imagine, this makes for a very rich and nourishing serum! If you have oily skin, you may want to skip this one, as it does form a moisturizing, protective film on your skin and may be too much for your skin. I found that it left a slightly tacky finish, but this went away as soon as I applied my cream on top. The light, citrusy fragrance was pleasant and not overpowering.

The richness of the Innisfree Olive Serum showed itself in an extra glow and softness when I washed my face the next day. I could tell that it really prevented my skin from becoming dehydrated overnight. Overall, I would highly recommend this for dry and dehydrated skin, but probably not for oily skin. Combination skin types might enjoy this if they lean towards getting dehydrated, but might find it too heavy on the T-zone. I personally have combination skin and I enjoyed it very much, using it mostly at night and not during the day.

Thank you Masksheets for generously providing this product to try!

coxir Ultra Hyaluronic Cleansing Oil - M Review 78

I’m on a HA kick because the cold weather in the bay area isn’t letting up. Coxir focuses on simple and minimal products that are affordable and targeted at sensitive skin. This cleansing oil hydrates and soothes with HA (Hyaluronic Acid) and aloe extracts while gently removing makeup and impurities.

Ingredients:

Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Canola Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-8 Isostearate, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Water, Malpighia Emarginata (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Prunus Avium (Sweet Cherry) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Leontopodium alpinum extract, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum

150ml of product came in a plastic pump bottle, my preferred form of packaging for most skincare products. It’s nearly scentless and is highly spreadable. I use 2 pumps every evening to remove sunscreen and non-waterproof makeup. It’s not the best at removing waterproof stuff like Heroinemake Mascara, then again, this is one of the toughest mascaras to remove. Add a little water to let it emulsify and it will continue to remove the stubborn remainders. Waterproof liquid liner comes off completely during this step. My skin feels clean yet soft. At $17 a pop, this is super affordable and I foresee this bottle lasting at least 4 months with daily use.
