New extruders for Tiertime UP Box+/ UP300 3D printers, opens new material capabilities.
With so many filament manufacturers, material types and properties, Tiertime has created a range of extruders enabling UP users the ability to print with the full spectrum of material options. Now users can select from a Low Temp (PLA) toolhead, High Temp (ABS) toolhead, or the Flex (TPU) toolhead, each having slight differences making them ideal for their class of materials.
While these new toolhead options have been released along with the new UP300 model 3D printer, in the typical Tiertime "No Upper Left Behind" stance, these new toolheads are also backwards compatible with the UP Box and UP Box+ users!

Size of Fan Block
PLA: A bigger fan block provides extra air circulation flowing in higher speed, and easily takes away more hot air.
ABS: Regular Fan Block provides enough cooling for air circulation.
TPU: Regular Fan Block provides enough cooling for air circulation.

TPU: New feeding mechanism created specifically for printing with flex material, with 0.5mm nozzle.
PTFE Tube inside the Heating Block
Purpose: To help the filament fed into the nozzle properly, and avoid it being heated too much and cause blockage.
PLA: Yes, it has a PTFE tube inserted in the extruder throat.
PLA filament has high tendency of heat deformation.
The inside wall of the PTFE tube is slippery with less friction. It prevents the filament deformation under high temperature.
ABS: No, it does not have a PTFE tube inserted in the extruder throat.
The ABS filament has high level heat tolerance rate and less deformation under high temperature.
TPU: Yes, it has a PTFE tube inserted in the extruder throat.
The inside wall of the PTFE tube is slippery with less friction. It guides the filament like TPU which tends to deform in high temperature .
Fan Duct Switch
Purpose: Control the air flow. Open the switch: allow the air blow straight to the model, and let it cool down fast which could prevent dripping and model’s tip from burned. Close the switch: block the air blowing to the model to cause the warping.
PLA: No, it does not have a switch.
ABS: Yes, it has the switch.
We recommend you to utilize the switch in the following ways. Close: when printing the raft to prevent warping. Open: when printing the model body for better cooling effect.
TPU: Yes, it has the switch, which should be always open.
PLA: Because it has no switch, more cold air flow through.
ABS: The air flow can be controlled by the switch on/off/semi-open according to the needs.
TPU: The air flow can be controlled by the switch on/off/semi-open according to the needs.
TPU: Hold the Button while having difficulty to withdraw the filament.
