The purpose of the Jazz Association of Macon is to support, promote, nurture, and educate all interested citizens and age groups in the Middle Georga area about music and the arts with a primary focus on jazz, an original American art form.
Jazz Artist in Residence Brad Goode returns for two performances Friday, February 22 in Macon. At 7:30, he will play with Mercer's Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Monty Cole. Later at 10:00, Brad will host a jam session at The Creek Stage at The Rookery. The Mercer event is free. Tickets for the Rookery show are available online at hargraycapitoltheatre.com.
Featured Poster Artist Mary Wain Ellison is a resident of Riverdale Drive. She has a degree in fine arts and has been painting for nearly fifty years as well as sharing art experiences with students in the Macon-Bibb school system. Enjoying the plein air painting experience and an avid gardener herself, she chose to find her inspiration for a series of paintings for this year's festival in the gardens of Riverdale Drive neighbors.
the Oct. 20 Jazz and Arts on Riverdale festival from 12 to 6 PM. Returning for their second year are Sofrito Fusion and Pinky's Shaved Ice, both crowd favorites last year. New this year is Taste of New Orleans, featuring cajun and Nawlins Soul food. Plan to eat well again this Fall while browsing the artist vendors and listening to live jazz. Bring the family and lawn chairs and stay awhile.
