Valid

A few years ago when we were having a pool installed, a question arose: How could we control the counter current for the pool when we‘re actually in the pool itself (much like you can when you‘re in a hot tub)? A step further; how about a switch that was part of the smart home system and could be activated with just a single touch? This thought was where the idea for the Touch Surface was born…

A symbolic start
One of the founders of Loxone, Thomas, made a spontaneous recommendation one day: “Why don’t we integrate controls into the surrounding concrete of the pool? So that with just a simple touch you can switch the countercurrent on or off.”

“That sounds good, let’s do it. I’ll think of a few creative symbols and mill the stone” was the equally spontaneous answer from Martin, Loxone’s other founder. A prototype project was started, components ordered, wiring in place, and the experiments had begun.

The result was a practicable and simple solution. Using a technology that is found in every smartphone today, resulted in a “wow” from guests the moment they saw it.

Years later: We turned to the kitchen
Having proven itself, Thomas and Martin turned to the pool-side switch (known as the “Pool Stone”) a few years later when a similar question arose during the planning of the first Loxone Showhome in Kollerschlag.

“Can we somehow integrate something into the kitchen worktop so that we don’t always have to reach for a switch on the wall when our hands are messy from preparing food?”.

The pair tinkered around with the idea, made a few sketches and turned to the initial planning of the ‘Pool Stone’. The concept was there, it only needed to be refined to suit the familiar control of a Loxone Smart Home.

More ideas soon followed; “we could integrate LEDs to indicate the status”, and some challenges were tackled, like “we need to find a way to prevent accidental activation, such as when someone puts a pot on it.”

TOUCH SURFACE IN FOCUS

> As if by magic…turn your furniture into a switch

> For intuitive control of lighting, shading, music

> With five capacitive control touch points

> Integrate into stone, ceramic, wood, glass

> Freely-assignable LED status lights

Time to create the prototype
Martin phoned a friend of his at Strasser, specialists in stone kitchen worktops. “Hannes, we have an idea. We need some samples with different milling designs.” In no time at all, stone samples were stacking up with our research and development team. Next step, soldering and experimenting – with the 3D printer turning out the first housing of the components.

“After 14 days, we had the first usable sample in our hands. We were thrilled with how it worked, and were sure that our customers would be too. And, of course, it had to be installed in our own kitchens as soon as possible.” The “Touch Surface” project was firmly underway with the code name “Excalibur”; which would see the early version of the “Pool Stone” being further improved.

What goes in the kitchen goes everywhere
With the realisation of the idea of being able to integrate control directly into a surface, new ideas quickly started to emerge of where else could this solution be used. “On the patio table! I inevitably need to control something when we’re sat at the patio table. My children weren’t in favour of the complicated remote control we had up to this point.” “How about at the coffee table? I would then have control of the lighting and volume always at hand.”

When the first prototypes were handed to the Loxone employees – also called Loxonauts – for testing, their creativity and imagination were fueled even further. A colleague who really enjoys listening to music in the morning decided to install one of these switches behind the tiles in his shower. “Yes! Finally, I can turn the volume up when one of my favourite songs comes on whilst I’m showering.”

Now it’s your turn!

What began years ago as an idea for a pool project is now a product available for everyone. Now anyone can turn any surface in their home into a point of control. Get creative yourself and, with the help of your Loxone Partner, see where you can implement a Touch Surface.

The Touch Nightlight is far more than just an ordinary nightlight. It’s an alarm, control unit, ambient light and nightlight all at the same time. This versatility makes it the perfect addition for all rooms, particularly the bedroom.
Extensive lighting functions

Ambient light

Whether you enjoy a cup of tea, a good book or a film before bed – the bedroom isn’t just for sleeping.

The Touch Nightlight subtly illuminates your bedroom in a range of colours. This ensures a pleasant atmosphere and your well-being.

Light alarm

As a light alarm clock, the Touch Nightlight can help you wake up in an even more relaxed manner. A light, which slowly increases in intensity can gently bring you out of your slumber. So you can start the new day full of energy.

In the master bedroom

Whether you need to visit the bathroom in the night or you start the day before sunrise, everyone could use a subtle unobtrusive light to help them navigate the room.

The Touch Nightlight guides you around any potential obstacles without disturbing your partner.

In the children’s room

At night dreams literally come true and the little ones become superheroes, football pros or great explorers.
But these adventures don’t always run smoothly. Therefore, the Touch Nightlight has a built-in monster defence system. Well, it emits just enough light so that the little adventures know that everything is fine should they wake up.

Operation has never been so easy with an integrated Touch Pure

The Touch Nightlight incorporates the Touch Pure which makes this a stylish control panel for your home. Air technology allows you to place the Touch Nightlight almost anywhere around the home. We’d suggest placing it on your bedside table so you can control your smart home from the comfort of your bed. The inputs are freely assignable, however, we recommend the larger centre touch point for lighting and the four corners for shading and music control.

Awake as you wish

The Touch Nightlight integrates seamlessly into your Real Smart Home and can be combined with a variety of smart functions.
Whether it’s through one of the five built-in alarm tones, a music alarm via the Loxone Music Server or a light alarm clock, the Touch Nightlight can wake you as you wish. There are no limits to the combinations of these alarms, you can use all of them or just one.

Five more minutes!
Touching the ‘alarm’ button disables the alarm. However, touching anywhere else on the Touch Nightlight sets the alarm into snooze mode. You can freely set the snooze duration in the Loxone app.

Integrated alarm features

If the intruder alarm is triggered, the Touch Nightlight will react in three stages like the rest of your smart home. First, it will emit an audible clicking sound. Then, it will play an alarm tone. Finally, it will begin to flash to ensure you are aware of the potential danger.

On the Barbeque

When used as a classic barbecue thermometer your Touch & Grill will ensure that you can accurately measure the doneness of any piece of meat.

What’s better than a perfectly cooked steak? Two perfectly cooked steaks. With the Touch & Grill’s two temperature sensors, you can get two measurements at the same time. Need the first steak medium and the second medium rare? No problem. You’ll have all the information that you need right at your fingertips.

As soon as the thermometer reaches the desired temperature you will be notified via the alarm in your Touch & Grill as well as through the Loxone App – letting you know that your meat should be taken off the grill.

On the Terrace

Once your guests have been wowed by your amazing cooking skills and their stomachs are no longer rumbling everyone can begin to relax and enjoy the evening. Including you.

With the Touch & Grill, you can control the party from your fingertips; turn up the music, activate a fancy lighting mood or do whatever else you please – if your friends weren’t impressed before they certainly will be now.

Weather permitting this barbecue will be taking place in the garden. The outside is great for the tan, but usually not so great for electrical devices. But fear not, the Touch & Grill has been specifically designed for outdoor use. Its high-quality casing and glass surface are UV-resistant and splash proof. It also has a long battery life, so your gathering can run into the night if you wish.

Summer does have to come to an end, unfortunately. So for the remaining 51 weeks of the year, it’s back to the tried and tested oven.

Unlike the rest of us, the Touch & Grill doesn’t care if it’s inside or out, performing just as well in the kitchen. No matter what you are cooking, be it that gorgeous Sunday lunch for the whole family or your daughters birthday cake, the Touch & Grill makes sure that you and your loved ones get to enjoy only the most perfectly cooked meals and treats.

With an integrated timer, this all-rounder becomes a practical assistant for your kitchen.

After the time is up you’ll be informed through an alarm from the Touch & Grill and via the Loxone App. Ready, Chef!

Plus, if you are listening to one of the Great British Bake Off inspired playlists on Spotify and need to turn up the volume, but your hands are covered in sticky dough… not a problem! You can adjust the volume on your Touch & Grill and just wipe it down when you are cleaning up.

Grill & Chill

Check the temperature from wherever
Standing in front of the barbecue, especially on a hot day, is something, you don’t want to do for more than a few hours. Thanks to the Touch & Grill you don’t have to miss out on the fun whilst you’re playing chef.

You can do activities with your kids or use the extra time to sit back with a cold beer – with your Loxone App you always have the temperature of your meat on hand.

Don’t miss the party!
Your garden party is in full swing. Your house and garden are filled with guests, witty conversations and interesting discussions. You – of course – want to be part of your own party without having to stand next to the grill all the time or taking your phone out and checking the app – That’s where your Loxone Smart Home comes in…

When your fillet reaches the perfect temperature, your home can, for example, lower the music and inform you via Text-to-Speech that it’s time to dish up.

Barbeque to go

When you combine the Touch & Grill with your Real Smart Home, you get the most versatile BBQ thermometer in the world. However, all of the basic functions – such as the timer, temperature display, clock and alarm – work without a connection to your Smart Home.

Simply take the Touch & Grill with you to your friends. Thanks to its extensive stand-alone functions, you’ll never have to deal with under or overcooked meat again. It’s guaranteed to be the highlight of every barbecue, however you might have to get used to the envious looks.

Intuitive control –
incorporating the Touch Pure

When the Touch & Grill is not being your trusted sidekick on those summer days, it is still an important part of your Loxone Smart Home – offering everyday control at your fingertips.

We have invested a lot of time as well as heart, soul and effort into the development of our Loxone Touch range. Our Switch Standard with 5 touch points can also be found in the versatile Touch & Grill.

Our Switch Standard recommends the central touch point for lights, with the four smaller corner touch points controlling shading and music.

Whether you are in your kitchen or enjoying a glass of wine with your friends on the patio: The portable Touch & Grill can be used in different places and therefore be defined as the control element for two different rooms. Via the app, you can decide which room should be operated via the Touch & Grill.

One app for everything

With the Loxone Smart Home App you can already control everything in your smart home, no matter if you’re at home or on the go – so of course, the Touch & Grill works with the same concept: there is no need for another app.

In our intuitive app you can adjust the desired temperature, watch over the current temperature, set a timer, receive related push-notifications, follow the temperature-statistics and set for which room the Touch & Grill should serve as a Touch switch.

Long story short: With the Loxone Smart Home App every function of the Touch & Grill is in the palm of your hand.

2018 was the worst year for energy prices in the UK, with bills rising an average of £74 per household. Unfortunately, we can’t stop the increases, but we still might be able to help. Here are 4 simple ways to reduce your energy bill; helping the environment and the piggy bank at the same time.
Switching off standby devices

Estimated savings: £80

Deep down we all know that stand-by devices are power guzzlers. However, most of us still don’t do anything about it. Perhaps that’s because we don’t realise how much money we could actually be saving.

Simply disconnecting standby devices from the electricity completely can save you up to £80 a year, according to The Energy Savings Trust. Bet that will have you looking around the house tonight.

In a Loxone Smart Home:

Our Smart Socket Air turns the most ordinary of sockets into intelligently controllable sockets. With minimal effort, you can completely disconnect devices from the power supply. Also, if you want to be super smart you can use a Smart Socket with a multi-socket, so you save electricity several times over.

P.S: You can even save electricity whilst using your devices. TV’s, for example, are often set to display the brightest image possible. This is simply unnecessary. Try dimming the display slightly. Not only will this save electricity, but it could also extend the lifespan of the device.

Close those windows… properly

Estimated savings: £114

2 + 2 = 4, nobody puts baby in a corner and having the windows open whilst the heating is on is silly. We’re not telling you anything you didn’t already know. However, what you probably didn’t know is that The Department of Energy estimate that 20-40% of your energy costs are leaking out of your home. Now, this does include energy loss through poorly insulated windows however, the biggest waste of energy was through windows simply left open. The average gas bill in the UK is £572, so even by taking the 20% estimation that’s £114 going straight out the window… literally!

So make sure to double check that you haven’t left a window slightly open next time you turn the heating on.

In a Loxone Smart Home:

Your home can inform you if you’ve got any open windows, using our Door and Window Contacts. In addition, it will automatically reduce the heating in the respective room if it detects that a window has been opened. Then if you close the window again, the heating will revert back to the set schedule.

Using LED lighting fixtures

Estimated savings: £232

LED lights are not only significantly more durable than traditional light bulbs, but they’re also far more economical. Compared to their power-hungry predecessors, LED lights can use up to 60% less electricity. According to Which, homes using halogen bulbs spend an average of £378 a year running them. Whereas, that number drops to £146 for homes using LED bulbs. That’s a saving of £232.

In a Loxone Smart Home:

We recommend using our specifically developed LED lights. From modern spots to stylish pendants, we’ve got a range of lighting products to give you intelligent and energy saving lighting in your home.

P.S: Now you know this, the initial higher price of LEDs seems well worth it, doesn’t it? But it gets even better. As we said, the lifespan of LEDs is considerably longer than classic bulbs. LEDs are comfortably capable of operating for 20,000+ hours, compare that to conventional bulbs which normally struggle after 1,000 hours and we know which ones we’d prefer.

Turn the heating down… by 1°C

Estimated savings: £75

When it comes to energy saving it really is the small things that add up. There’s no better example of this than turning down your heating by just 1°C. You’ll hardly notice the difference in temperature but you’ll definitely notice the difference in your energy bill. The Energy Saving Trust estimates that this little trick could save you £75 a year.

In a Loxone Smart Home:

The intelligent heating control not only ensures that your rooms are always at the desired temperature, but it also self-learns to optimise itself in order to achieve the comfort temperature in the most energy efficient manner.

However, that alone is not enough for us at Loxone, so we go a step further. While you are not at home, the heating system is automatically lowered. When you arrive back, your home will already be at your desired comfort temperature. All you have to do is set what times you usually arrive back from work. From there your home will take care of the rest.

Crime statistics show that a burglary occurs almost every minute across England and Wales. Being burgled isn’t a momentary event that only affects our home and belongings; it can have a lasting impact on our lives. The level of security in your home can be a genuine deterrent or prevention of being burgled.
What does protection from break-ins look like in a Loxone Smart Home?

On guard: ready to protect
A Loxone Smart Home is always on the lookout. It‘s
always prepared but hopes it never
needs to spring into action.

Imagine this: you and your family are on a much-
deserved holiday. Your home may be empty but it certainly doesn‘t appear that way to any on-lookers.
Sophisticated home automation means your home
doesn‘t give any clues to potential burglars that you‘re
not there. While you‘re away, your home mimics your
presence – turning the lights on and off and opening and
closing blinds just as it would if you were at home. By
realistically recreating these actions, it‘s very unlikely
that a potential burglar would think that no one is
at home. For opportunistic burglars, this presence
simulation feature quickly reduces the chance that
your home will be a target.

Lights, shading, action
If a burglar does try their luck, your home will immediately
spring into action – with conspicuous flashing
lights and an overwhelming alarm tone – all in a bid to
send them running for the hills.

You can’t hide from me
There are many ways a burglar could potentially find
their way into your home. Whether it‘s through a window
or an unlocked patio door. However, using a combination of
sensors, including motion sensors, and glass break
sensors, your Loxone Smart Home will know when something is amiss and start reacting immediately.

Smart Home 1 – 0 Burglar
If your home detects an intruder, a three-phase alarm
is triggered to alert you, and any passersby, as soon as
possible. This gives the burglar as little time as possible
to make off with any of your belongings.

Silent
alarm:

You will immediately receive a notification via the app on your smartphone. If a false alarm is registered, your home will automatically take care of this for you.

Audible
alarm:

In the second phase, you will receive a call on your mobile phone and your Loxone Music Server will turn the multiroom audio up to full volume. It can play a sound of your choice, from a shrill alarm tone to heavy metal music. Either way, it attracts attention and makes a burglar more likely to leave in a hurry.

Visual
alarm:

Phase three sees your smart home opening blinds and curtains to draw attention to the intruder. The Loxone Smart Home is now “transparent”. Coupled with conspicuous flashing lights throughout the house, your neighbours and passersby are more likely to see that something is amiss.

What else can you do?
Five tips

Even though your smart home will
keep watch and automate various
safety and security aspects for you,
there are still a few things you can
do to contribute to the protection of
your own four walls. Here are five tips
for you to consider to minimise the
risk of burglary and give you more
peace of mind.

1. Avoid hiding your
front door keys

Whether it‘s underneath the
doormat or under a flowerpot,
chances are criminals have thought
about these hiding places for
keys too. Don‘t risk it. Never leave
a spare key hidden somewhere
outside. Instead, keep your keys
with you or perhaps think about
using smart access features like
pin code entry that unlocks your
front door.

2. You‘ve got mail
…plenty of it!

If you‘re going away for more
than just a relaxing weekend break,
then chances are your letterbox
will be an easy telltale. If your
letterbox is beginning to burst
at the seams, then it‘s likely no
one has been home for a fair few
days. What a great opportunity
for a burglar to make their way in
and take their time going through
your belongings. To avoid this
obvious indicator, why not ask your
neighbours to clear your mail while
you‘re away.

3. Be wise about your
social media posts

You‘re waiting to board your 10
hour flight for an all-inclusive week
away at a 5 star resort. Social
media might be a great way to
share the news of your holiday, but
the information this gives potential
burglars is invaluable. It‘s no effort
for someone to search for specific
hashtags and locations to narrow
down their options of houses to
burgle. Try to hold off from posting
your holiday snaps until you’re back home.

4. The writing
is on the wall

Perhaps you‘ve seen such markings
before. A weird symbol in chalk on
one of the bricks. It‘s probably kids
being a nuisance, right? Well, it might
not be. Some criminals have been
known to make chalk or charcoal
markings on walls, letterboxes,
driveways, or doors as part of a
secret language. For example, these
can denote a wealthy target, a
vulnerable occupant, a warning of
a guard dog, or a property with no
alarm. If you ever find one of these
on or near your property, take a
photo, try to remove it, and contact the police.

5. Close and lock
those doors & windows

Check your insurance policy; it
probably asks you if your windows
have key-operated locks and if your
doors have five-point multipoint
locking systems. If they do, you‘re
expected to use these. Leaving
your window slightly open to
allow some air circulation while
you‘re away on holiday is not worth
the risk. This makes it easier for
someone to gain access to your
home. Be sure to properly close
all doors and windows and to lock
them. Plus, ensure keys are out of
site of any curious passersby. This
is more than just good practice,
it can also be a condition of your home insurance.

What else can you do?
Five tips

Even though your smart home will keep watch and automate various safety and security aspects for you, there are still a few things you can do to contribute to the protection of your own four walls. Here are five tips for you to consider to minimise the isk of burglary and give you more peace of mind.

1. Avoid hiding your
front door keys

Whether it ‘s underneath the doormat or under a flowerpot, chances are criminals have thought about these hiding places for keys too. Don‘t risk it. Never leave a spare key hidden somewhere outside. Instead, keep your keys with you or perhaps think about using smart access features like pin code entry that unlocks your front door.

2. You‘ve got mail
…plenty of it!

If you‘re going away for more than just a quiet weekend break, then chances are your letterbox will be an easy telltale. If your letterbox is beginning to burst at the seams, then it‘s likely no one has been home for a fair few days. What a great opportunity for a burglar to make their way in and take their time going through your belongings. Loxone Smart Home Automation UK by Luke Murphy - 3M ago

When you take a look at Jordi and Beatriz’s smart home there are certainly a lot of words that come to mind: stunning, beautiful, any superlative you want really. However, if you look a little deeper words like seamless integration and technological brilliance might start to pop into your head. Their home is the epitome of a Real Smart Home. Not only does Loxone bring out the stunning aesthetics of the property with our beautiful lighting, Loxone enables this house to be a fully automated smart home which is completely personalised to Jordi and Beatriz’s liking.

The home has been entirely built with Loxone Tree technology which meant that the wiring and installation process was smooth and painless.

Jordi is actually one of our Spanish partners. He created his company HabiTech with the goal of transforming conventional homes into Loxone Smart Homes. Due to a combination of his excellent skillset and out brilliant products, there was a massive demand for HabiTech. This resulted in Jordi becoming a Gold Partner, from scratch, in a matter of months.

After helping so many people convert to a smarter lifestyle, Jordi decided that it was only natural for him to install Loxone in his own home and hence this masterpiece was created.

Shading only when necessary

When you enter the main room of the house, which is a combination of the living room, dining room and kitchen, it can appear at first glance as if there are no blinds whatsoever.  Floor to ceiling glass panes ensure that this room can be flooded with natural light when desired. This helps the room feel incredibly spacious and fresh. So much so that even the wonderful photos we have don’t truly do the room justice.

Jordi and Beatriz opted for Venetian blinds so that they could get maximum functionality out of the intelligent shading features of their Loxone system. In the summer, direct sunlight can become overwhelming. However, they need not worry. If this happens, the slats are automatically adjusted to stop the penetrating glair of the sun yet still keep the room adequately lit.

Safety & Security

As parents of young children, security was crucial for Jordi and Beatriz when it came to designing their smart home. They certainly cut no corners and thus have a home that is now constantly looking out for them.

Intruder alarm: the home has multiple layers of protection such as: motion detectors, window and door contacts and even integrated door handles. This means that intruders can be detected 24/7, even when no one is at home. If that happens the family will be alerted immediately.

Flood and fire alarms: these types of alarms help you act quickly in the event of any incident, which might just help prevent significant damage. The home has water detection sensors in the kitchen and bathrooms, with smoke detection sensors in the passageways and garage.

Door handles: not only can these tell you if a door is open or closed but these smart door handles detect glass breakage. If the door detects a significant impact the alarm will sound. Also, as the children’s bedroom has access to the balcony, the home will alert Jordi and Beatriz whenever one of their doors is opened.

Video surveillance cameras: the feed from these cameras can be viewed directly from within the Loxone App, at any time. As well as this, if the Miniserver happens to lose connection with more than one of the cameras, it will alert the couple immediately. As two security cameras going down at once is certainly suspicious.

Video intercom: this one device adds a remarkable amount of convenience to Jordi and Beatriz’s life. They can let anyone into their home from wherever they are, whether that’s in their kitchen or on the other side of the world. It doesn’t matter. When the intercom is pressed they can see and talk to whoever is at the door from within the Loxone App. As well as this the intercom documents who’s been at the door by taking a quick picture, so the couple can look back at who popped round.

Storm Protection: thanks to the Loxone Weather Station, this smart home knows when a storm is approaching. The home will play a voice message through the speakers just letting the family know that Storm Protection function is being activated. From this point, the external blinds will be automatically raised in order to prevent damage from high wind speeds, which means the family can carry on with whatever they’re doing.

Tree lighting. Making it easy.

The main lights Jordi opted to used were the Loxone LED Tree Spots, both the RGBW and Warm White variant. To complement the spots he also used LED strips to help diversify the lighting design – meeting the demands of accent, task and ambient lighting.

The beauty of using Loxone is that the installation process is much more efficient and ultimately quicker. This is because each Loxone product is connected via a single cable; our revolutionary Tree cable. From Touch switches to motion sensors, all peripheral devices in this home are wired with Loxone Tree.

With Tree lighting, you can group different lighting sources. This then gives you great flexibility when creating lighting moods in the Loxone app, as each individual section of lights can be set to a different colour/temperature.

Touch and Touch Surface

Loxone Touch switches have been installed throughout the house; all configured to meet the Loxone Switch Standard. This way all of the switches work in the same way, eliminating the need to learn multiple switch layouts.

The Touch Surface, which adds a wow factor to any room, is installed in the kitchen. Seamlessly integrated into the worktop which means the family can control their blinds, lighting and audio all whilst cooking their dinner. With the Touch Surface, there’s no need to worry about constantly washing and whipping your hands before use. The technology is placed under the worktop, therefore, they’re perfectly fine to use it with wet or dirty hands. Also to avoid accidental taps, whilst preparing food for example, this Touch Surface requires a quick activation gesture before it can be used. Then once left untouched for five seconds, it will then deactivate.

In the bedroom, a Touch Surface has also been beautifully installed into the headboard. From here, the whole room can be controlled. However, unlike the one in the kitchen, this Touch Surface does not require an activation gesture. This is due to the location of the switch, as the probability of accidental contact here is far less likely. This is just one example of the many ways in which Loxone can be individually customised to the user’s needs.

An accessory for everyday use

The Remote Air gives the family added flexibility and functionality. It allows them to control a host of features all from a wireless remote. They have configured theirs to enable them to open and close their garage door and gate. So when they get home from a long hard day at work they can get the car into the garage without having to leave the driver’s seat.

The Remote Air isn’t only handy for arriving back at the home, it makes leaving much easier too. Through a simple press on the remote they can set the ‘All Out Mode’.

  • This activates the smart burglar alarm feature, which uses the motion detector, door handles and window contacts to detect any attempted entry.
  • The blinds go into automatic mode, so they will open and close depending on the temperature and outside conditions.
  • All the lights in the house are switched off.
  • The system will warn the user if there are any open windows via a notification straight to their phone.
  • When the ‘All Out Mode’ is successfully activated a notification will be sent as a confirmation of this.

They also have a Remote Air in the main room of the house which allows the family to make quick changes to the audio, lighting and shading, all from the comfort of the sofa.

Next steps: a smart garden

Although Jordi and Beatriz now live in one of the most luxurious properties around, they still have ambitions of adding to their home. Next up on their list is the garden. The construction of a swimming pool, along with a fully automated sprinkler system for the surrounding lawn, is being considered for the near future.

They want to forget about the boring labours of maintaining a beautifully landscaped garden. Jordi plans to set sensors that detect the levels of moisture in the soil, so when it becomes too dry the sprinklers will engage. However, thanks to the Loxone Weather Station, when rain is imminent the process will be halted, in order to save water.

“At first, you have the urge to keep doing all the chores that the house now does for you. Little by little you discover that it does everything as if it were you. Whether that’s the optimal position of the blinds or the right temperature. And in the end, you forget completely and let the house manage it for you. Seeing the blinds as they adjust to the time of day, as the lights come on at your pace and turn off later without the need for switches, or knowing that a child has woken up at night while you’re downstairs watching TV;  you cannot imagine how practical and comfortable these things are until you experience them for yourself.”

‘Save 50,000 task’. You’ve probably heard us mention that once, twice or a thousand times. It’s a phrase that’s behind everything we do at Loxone. We say it because we believe in it, but where does it come from?
Our philosophy

So you’ve heard us talk about saving 50,000 tasks, but what does that mean? Well, a smart home knows how to take care of tasks for its occupants based on their presence, lifestyle and even the local weather. It takes care of the safety, comfort and energy efficiency related tasks by itself, making it a Real Smart Home.

Not only does a Loxone Smart Home save you from doing dull and mundane tasks; it also saves you from wasting your brain power worrying about things that, we believe, simply shouldn’t be worried about.

Not only does a Loxone Smart Home save you from doing dull and mundane tasks; it also saves you from wasting your brain power worrying about things that, we believe, simply shouldn’t be worried about.

So how did we get to 50,000?

We took a typical four bedroom family house and put a hypothetical family of four in that house for a year. Mum, Dad, Lucy and Jimmy (I know they’re not real but it’s nice to name them). Then we worked out what the four of them would get up to over the next 350 days (they went on holiday for 15 days, because being a made-up family can be tiring work.)

Below is a breakdown of all of the tasks that a smart home could have taken care of for them:

You can start to see how a Real Smart Home truly can save you 50,000 tasks a year. However, the real beauty of Loxone is that with fewer tasks to do you’ll have more time to enjoy life.

Loxone takes care of everything, from the smallest of things like turning on the lights when you enter a room, to protecting your family from harm with our smart security features. A Loxone Smart Home does this and everything in between automatically, without any extra action needing to be taken.

However, you can manually control your Real Smart Home if you’d like. And what better place to do this from than perhaps the most beautiful point of control in the world: the Loxone Touch Pure.

As a leading manufacturer of baby mattresses, Träumeland (Dreamland in English) provides babies all over the world with a healthy night’s sleep. Having a smart office equipped with Loxone technology helps create the right environment to make this possible. There’s no doubt that a business like this has to meet high demands. That’s why the working environment matters most. It sets the tone for how any business performs.
Check it all in the app

How many times have you left a window or door open? Perhaps reading this reminded you that you have to go shut one now. With 100 employees spread over 3450m², Träumeland has a wealth of doors and windows that now won’t go forgotten thanks to the Loxone Smart Home App. Hannes Nösslböck and his employees can take a quick digital look at any time and see for themselves that everything is closed.

Favourite feature: “Last Employee”

“In the past, the last person to go home had to check every room and office for open windows or turned-on lights. But today, all I need is a tap on the tablet to select ‘Last Employee’. This turns off all the lights and more.”

Shading that adjusts itself

The windows at Träumeland are covered with Venetian blinds that work automatically taking into account the position of the sun. The intelligent office building also monitors outside conditions such as wind, rain, temperature and brightness and adjusts its shading accordingly.

When the sun is shining brightly, the blinds will go down so you can avoid any harsh rays of light.

The blinds always know when to adjust on their own, which is just what you need for better focus during meetings.

Lighting that’s lively yet effortless

When the first employee enters the office in the morning, the lights automatically turn on. If no movement is detected after 30 minutes, the lights switch off automatically. During the day, employees can use the Touch switch or app to change the lighting mood at any time.

Company pride:
LED strips let you creatively capture the corporate identity throughout the building with a full range of colour, brightness and warmth.

Taking care of business

As the managing director of the business, Hannes Nösslböck has to make a lot of important decisions, take many phone calls and handle negotiations. Privacy is at the top of his list when it comes to needs for his office.

For this reason, his office was equipped with two electric sliding doors and a NFC Code Touch. Now Hannes can close his doors with a single tap on the Touch switch on his desk. Once closed, the only way to open the doors from the outside is by using a code (only assigned to select individuals) on the NFC Code Touch.

Keep an organised payment system
The NFC tags can be used as a means of payment, just like at our Loxone Basecamp. In all three self-service bars, food and drinks are billed to employees and automatically debited at the end of the month.

What’s hiding behind the wall?
At Träumeland there’s even a smart solution for an unaesthetic copy room. When an employee taps the Touch pad, it opens the wall to provide access to hidden printers and photocopiers. It then closes again with a double-tap or after a set time window has elapsed. And just like that, it’s like the copy room had never even been there.

Work in a comfortable environment
Both in the office wing and in the production halls, the temperature is always set for ideal working conditions. If employees are still too cold or hot, they can adjust the temperature at any time in the app. Then when all the employees go home, the office will go into Energy Saving mode.

Energy efficient practices

Power consumption is constantly recorded throughout the office building. This way, energy usage can be targeted to ensure that as much energy as possible is saved.

Lighting:
Only when needed
As seamstresses carry out their work in the production hall, which is basically flooded with light, the lighting adjusts to their needs. To avoid wasting energy, the lighting is only activated when the brightness in the room falls below a certain level. This is extremely useful in the winter months.

Cooling system:
Intelligent & economical
If it gets too hot, first, shading helps to cool the rooms. The blinds move down as if by magic and the room cools down on its own. If this doesn’t adequately cool the room, the ventilation will switch on automatically. Then as the very last step, if needed, the air conditioning will activate to ensure that the comfort temperature is achieved.

Deep in the middle of the Salzburg mountains sits Auszeit, a luxury chalet village. Their slogan, “home is where you feel good” but as the modern home is evolving, so are their chalets. Loxone helps bring modern Smart Home technology to this traditional picturesque getaway.
Luxury chalets with a smart touch

From the kitchen to a large living room and your own wellness area – in these luxury alpine chalets you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing getaway to the slopes. Here are some of our favourite features that have been realised with Loxone technology:

Automated ‘Hot Pots’

Each chalet has a ‘hot pot’ – a giant wooden barrel of sorts that has been crafted into a cosy outdoor tub. The reception staff fill each ‘hot pot’ with a simple tap in the Loxone App. At the start of each day, the tubs are drained and rinsed. After 5 seconds of rinsing, the hot pot automatically stops the rinsing flow and fills the baths with comfortably warm water. If the outside temperature drops below 2°C, an additional heating element is activated to prevent the formation of ice when the tub is filling.

It all works, as if by magic. If the temperature in the hot pot drops below 27°C and is unoccupied, the bath is emptied automatically. The reception staff can also intervene manually at any time and start the emptying process earlier should they wish to.

Luxury chalets with a smart touch

From the kitchen to a large living room and your own wellness area – in these luxury alpine chalets you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing getaway to the slopes. Here are some of our favourite features that have been realised with Loxonet technology:

Automatic ‘Hot Pots’

Each chalet has a ‘hot pot’ – a giant wooden barrel of sorts that has been crafted into a cosy outdoor tub. The reception staff fill each ‘hot pot’ with a simple tap in the Loxone App. At the start of each day, the tubs are drained and rinsed. It all works, as if by magic. If the temperature in the hot pot drops below 27°C and is unoccupied, the bath is emptied automatically. The reception staff can also intervene manually at any time and start the emptying process earlier should they wish to.

The idyllic relaxation pool

Going swimming amongst the snowy mountains? Why not… This luxury chalet village features a crystal-clear pool that makes for a tranquil relaxation spot for guests.

At night, the pool area and leading walkways are illuminated with automated lighting.

Outdoor space heaters

While it might be snowing around you, there’ll be no snow on or in the ‘hot pot’. That’s because when the outside temperature drops below 2°C, the outdoor space heaters automatically turn on – but only if the chalet is occupied (so it doesn’t waste energy).

After a predefined time, the heaters then turn off. Of course, as with the hot pots themselves, the reception staff can take full control of the space heaters at any point.

Automated hidden TV

As if relaxing in the snowy alps wasn’t cool enough, this neat James Bond-esque feature will impress. When you get back to the chalet from hitting the slopes, a single tap on ‘TV Mode’ in the Loxone app will adjust the lighting and reveal a TV. From where? Well, a picture frame next to the fire place will retreat into the wall automatically, revealing an impressive flat screen ready for your viewing pleasure.

Smart home features in the main lodge

In the main lodge of this chalet village, you’ll find a restaurant, wine cellar and the reception. Of course, there’s Loxone features here too.

Suitable
lighting moods

All the lighting in the main lodge is controlled by Loxone. Appropriate lighting moods such as ‘Dinner’, ‘Evening’, or ‘Bar Night’, can all be activated from the Loxone App at the bar or reception desk.

A cosier
wine tasting

Just as important as the time on the slopes is the time after the slopes… We’re talking Après ski. Class it up a little by browsing the selection of wine and having a wine tasting in the cosy wine cellar and dining area. Different lighting moods take care of creating the right ambience. Loxone takes care of more than just the lighting here, the ventilation in the wine cellar is automated based on presence or a schedule.

Fewer tasks
for staff

Loxone doesn’t only make the environment more comfortable and relaxing for the guests – it also alleviates some of the tasks that the staff would usually have to do. Whether it is filling the hot tubs before guests arrive, activating the space heaters or turning the lights on – all this and more is controlled from the Loxone app by reception staff.

Safety first…

Loxone isn’t only used to make the chalet village more comfortable, it also features in making it safe.

Fire & Smoke Alarm

Smoke detectors have been installed in each of the luxury chalets. Should a fire be detected, the owner immediately receives an alert which gives him information on where the potential danger is.

Emergency Button

Emergencies do happen. That is why each chalet is equiped with an emergency button. When a guest presses this, it alerts the staff at reception via the Loxone app. This means the right emergency procedures can be activated in a matter of seconds.

Power Failure

A pump ensures that the water in the relaxation pools is constantly flowing to prevent stagnation and associated bacteria forming. If the pumps stop working for any reason, such as a power cut, then the staff need to know straight away so that they can take action. If a failure is detected, an alert is sent via the Loxone app to the appropriate members of staff.

One-click at closing time

When it comes time to call it a night and all the guests have left the main lodge, the processing of closing up is made all the more easier with Loxone. A single tap in the Loxone App turns off the lighting in the restaurant, kitchen and bar; turns off the space heaters out on the terrace; and more.

Extremely high-level housing, with flawlessly integrated technology, is something many dream of. However, in Upper Austria ‘Das Levels’ – which translates to The Levels, is a new exclusive residential complex, which is helping that dream become a reality. With 125 premium apartments, all with Loxone Smart Home Technology installed to ensure the absolute highest living standards.
A new way of living

After decades spent dormant, a unique location in Upper Austria is being brought to life. With the site totalling 24,800m² there’s plenty of space to work with and that’s exactly what’s being done, with one of the most exciting residential complexes in Austria being developed.

The new complex will consist of 125 apartments, split over the site’s six brand new buildings. All of which will be connected via a footpath which will run through the site’s beautiful grounds, which happen to be nicely secluded from the outside world due to the surrounding trees.

Within the buildings, there is a wide array of apartments to choose from micro-flats to penthouse suites with large terraces. All have the option of being finished with one of three stunning interior designs.

Facts

Location: Sompark Linz, Upper Austria

Start of construction: 2019

Completion: Early 2021

Apartments: 125

Underground parking spaces: 126

Land area: 24,800m²

Loxone inside

It’s not only the ‘typical’ family home that Loxone can enhance. With our seamless integration into the modern interior of these apartments, the future Sompark residents will experience the absolute finest smart home technology.

The technology is sleek and intuitive, with users being able to operate the systems in multiple ways, whether they’re in the apartment or on the go.

Let’s take lighting as an example, the Loxone app will give residents the ability to quickly check which of their lights are on and then if needs be, they can turn them off all from within the app, even if they’re out. However if they’re in, then there is no need to open the app as lighting can be controlled from Touch switches throughout the home.

It’s not just lighting that can be controlled by Touch switches and the app, shading can be too. However, if the new owner would like their shading to be taken care of for them, they absolutely can. With the Loxone weather station bundled in with the Weather Service, you get exact weather data from a professional weather provider. This can be used to automatically control shading so the windows being penetrated with the most sunlight can be covered.

There isn’t much point in having such a beautiful apartment if you’re always too hot or too cold. That’s where Loxone comes in, ensuring that all 125 apartments are always at the perfect temperature. With individual room functionality, each room has the ability to be set to a different temperature to suit your usage needs. Whether that’s a cool 18° in the bedroom, a pleasant 21.5° in the living room or a warm 23° in the bathroom, just change the desired temperature in the app.

Whether in the micro-flats or the penthouse suite, Loxone provides reliable protection to all residents. The Loxone smoke detectors, for example, ensure that occupants are informed immediately in the event of any smoke or fire. The lighting throughout the property will start to flash, the shading will open and an instant notification is sent to owners smartphone.

At their request, the future owners of these stunning properties can upgrade their apartments and add even more functionality. For example, they could add our Touch Surface to their kitchen worktops to allow control of lights, music, shading etc all from their work surface.
