Despite their concerns, however, robot platforms will never revolt. There are good reasons to put any trepidation aside. No profit can be gained from it, the systems simply aren’t advanced enough and people armed with human intelligence will never let it happen. There’s No Money in It

To begin with, anyone who understands technology and its growth must also grasp a key principle: If no economic value is to be acquired from it, the technology doesn’t happen. The machines cannot do it alone.

People Will Make Sure it Won’t Happen

When technicians design a network, they do it for a purpose. That purpose is usually focused and specific, and it does not include world domination. IT specialists also build in fail-safes to make sure that the system’s purpose isn’t perverted. Many layers of oversight exist on a project, and someone would eventually catch a catastrophic mistake. AI formats aren’t interested in destroying humans. It wouldn’t occur to them on their own, and cyber security specialists instill code in them to ensure that no one convinces them to do so. Cyber Security, IT, and more all have many courses to help protect and prevent AI failure, so the idea of a hack turning robots evil for some reason is not going to happen.

There are few things that are as universally hated as spam. With the click of a button, spammers can flood millions of inboxes daily, requiring very little effort on their part. This is the reason spam is so prevalent despite advancements in software technology. You may have become so accustomed to spam that it seems to be just an unavoidable price to pay to use email servers. On the surface, spam is just an annoying fact of life, but if you gaze a bit closer, you’ll see that spam can actually be quite harmful.

It’s Getting Smarter

As email providers and businesses develop new ways to combat spam, spammers are finding new ways to get around these advancements. Spam mail is learning from automation rules and scripts just as fast as businesses are. It’s becoming harder and harder to identify. Getting rid of subject lines that are written in all capitals or contain multiple exclamation points allows spammers to avoid tripping spam filters. It’s not the volume of spam that’s problematic, unless your inbox is absolutely flooded by them; rather, it’s the destructive nature of some spam. Phishing emails are the most common type of spam scams. Just as the name suggests, with phishing spam, scammers are attempting to fish for your personal information.

Internet security specialists caution that spammers have gotten good at misleading emails that look like they come from legitimate sources, even copying logos, fonts, and images used by the legitimate business or entity. These emails can appear to be invoices, mail delivery failure warnings, notification of password changes, or requests that you check your accounts for malicious activities. Once you try to log into your accounts from the fake links provided in the spam email, the spammers now have your password and other private credentials you’ve shared.

Malware Leaves Businesses Vulnerable

Malware installed after opening a seemingly innocent spam email can cost you in more ways than just money. Not all malware is created equal, and depending on what you’ve unintentionally installed, you may see no obvious effects of the intruder. While malware can incapacitate your computer or seriously muck things up, sometimes malware comes in the form of spyware that hides on your system and gathers data for the spammer. The data gathered can range from browser history to banking information to your various account credentials.

Malware can also come in the form of ransomware, a malicious program that literally holds your computer hostage until you provide a fee. The spam may be the ransom note warning the recipient that if he or she doesn’t click on the link provided and pay a fee, then his or her account may be terminated. Of course, once the recipient clicks on the link, he or she has installed the software that will disable his or her computer or accounts.

Spam Damages Communication

Spam can kill more than just productivity in the workplace. The purpose of email is to communicate with others, but spam can damper that communication by making it hard to identify legitimate emails, resulting in an increase in the likelihood that you’ll delete legitimate emails by accident or become delayed in your response as you trudge through clogged inboxes. Because phishing attempts try to mimic legitimate sources, you may end up blocking or permanently deleting important emails.

There’s a sort of anxiety that can come from spam. This can result in email avoidance, creating a larger problem when you finally make it to your inbox. Many of us know a few people with a few hundred unopened emails due to spam.

New technology always starts out at premium prices and big business is often the first to invest in premium priced products.

Today 4G LTE is nearly ubiquitous along Interstate corridors but there are still lots of places in North America where even 3G is hard to find. Even Wi-Fi is limited in many of these areas.

5G might be the entry into true high-performance “Star Trek like” universal communications but it is still years away for millions.

As you already know when we had a transformation from 3G to 4G there was a lot of hype about it. And I must say now as we are growing into the internet of things. We need more power subject to the internet. This related directly to the infrastructure available for us. But assuming that it will take quite a lot of time to get the 5G infrastructure in place. It seems that the early adopters of 5G will be only business users.

Experts view is by 2020 we will have the first version of 5G available for the business use case. But that does not mean you will be able to just purchase a 5G device from the market and start using the high-speed internet on the go. It will take at least 3 years in order to deliver for retail consumers.

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said about the vision on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings:

I would say over time, 3- to 5-year time horizon, unequivocally, 5G will serve as broadband — a fixed broadband replacement product. I am very convinced that will be the case, and we are, obviously, on a standards-based path. We want a standards-based path that is mobile first. Back in the 90s, everybody was saying wireless would never serve a substitute for the fixed line with voice because there wasn’t sufficient capacity, well it is a substitute for voice. We said the same thing on broadband in terms of would a wireless device serve as a broadband replacement broadly in the iPhone and then LTE really began to make that a reality. And then as we look at 5G, will you have enough capacity to have a good broadband product that serves as a streaming service or all of your DIRECTV NOW, your Netflix, etcetera?

I absolutely am convinced that we will have that capacity, particularly as we turn up millimetre wave spectrum. That’s where the capacity and the performance comes from, and that’s where you will begin to see a true replacement opportunity for fixed line broadband. So I have little doubt that in the 3- to 5-year time horizon, you’ll start to see the substitution of wireless for fixed line broadband.

Ironically, one of the top use cases, early use cases for 5G are businesses wanting to deploy 5G as effectively in their land environment. And so think about a wireless plug-and-play environment, so that is truly wireless replacing fixed line is a high-speed Internet solution.

At one time Flash videos were practically everywhere. Almost all online videos utilized it (including YouTube), and it was preferred over any other format.

Today however, Flash video is starting to become extinct and HTML5 has replaced it almost entirely. Its demise didn’t happen overnight, and arguably started in 2010 when Apple decided it would not use Flash (ever), and Steve Jobs predicted its days were numbered.

In that same year, Google started experimenting with HTML5 video for YouTube – which was an early sign that it too was looking away from Flash. By early 2015, HTML5 was the default playback option for YouTube on browsers that supported it.

While it may be surprising that a format as popular as Flash could be so readily replaced, it isn’t difficult to see why that is the case. In many ways, HTML5’s capabilities are far superior to Flash video.

The Rise of Mobile Devices

To be completely honest the rise of mobile devices is one of the biggest factors that led to Flash being phased out in favor of HTML5.

Initially, the Adobe Flash Player was available on several mobile platforms (including early versions of Android). However its performance was spotty and more importantly – it was a huge drain on the battery life.

On top of that the majority of other Flash content that was interactive was designed for desktop systems and not mobile devices. That meant that they frequently made use of actions that were not mobile-friendly, such as mouse-overs.

Simply put Flash was not designed to handle touch-screens and mobile devices, and that started to show. The fact that it was a closed and proprietary system and Adobe needed to certify versions for different devices compounded that further.

As mobile platforms stopped supporting Flash, Adobe announced the withdrawal of support for its Flash player on mobile – which was the final nail in the coffin.

Bugs and Vulnerabilities

Another big issue that contributed to Flash’s fall from favor was the fact that it seemed plagued by an endless array of bugs and vulnerabilities.

The versatility that Flash provided was twisted into a downside in such cases. It enabled malware developers to pursue lots of creative options to sneak trojans and other malicious software onto systems via exploits.

Other bugs also made Flash seem unstable at various points in time, and complaints that it would crash or ‘lock’ browsers were all too common. Although Adobe tried to patch bugs and vulnerabilities as they were found – it was never able to quite stay on top of them all.

Eventually, the situation with Flash became more untenable, and more and more parties were calling for its withdrawal. By 2015 it was widely agreed that the risks far outweighed the usefulness of Flash, due to the numerous dangerous exploits that kept turning up.

Benefits of HTML5

In contrast to the challenges faced by Flash video, HTML5 began to realize its promise and provided numerous benefits.

Overall HTML5 is far more mobile-friendly and able to deliver high-quality video playback without the performance and power issues. It requires fewer resources in general to play similar quality videos and supports higher video resolutions including UHD and 4K.

Unlike Flash that requires a separate plugin to be installed, HTML5 support is built-in directly to browsers. It is open source and has been tested thoroughly without any major security vulnerabilities.

The fact that HTML5 is open source provides it with greater versatility. Interactive elements can be added using Javascript and allow HTML5 to emulate the capabilities of Flash.
