2018 was an incredible year and I am ever so grateful for the families, couples and beautiful people that I had the honor of photographing. Below are my favorites from every wedding and session this year, including some shots from weddings that I was able to second shoot with my fabulous photographer friends Taylor Elizabeth Photography and Leah Nicole Photography.
I always aim to bring authenticity to my work. When I think of a photo, I want to capture what is real, not what is posed. There is such a fine line between those two, but that is where the magic happens.
Whitney and Tyler had an amazing session. It was an intimate shoot that captured the way true love and friendship go hand in hand. We had so many laughs and made good use of the relaxing vibe of the home.
These two lovebirds aren't ones to shy away from the camera or hide their feelings. They are real, they are bold, and they have some sweet tattoos to prove it.
Michele and Mike's wedding is the epitome of new beginnings. It represents the simple notion that perfect love finds you when you least expect it. The simple, elegant ceremony was attended by a small group, and I was honored to play both photographer and friend on this day.
Maya Angelou claims that she "sustains herself with the love of family" and I cannot think of a better way to think of this beautiful bride being attended by her amazing children. And of course, the location was wonderful! Who doesn't love a good winery?
This engagement session with an aspiring veterinarian and a dog-loving nurse was so much fun! It started with a little bit of trespassing in Downtown Galveston and ended with two very satisfied pups in the ocean. It was enjoyable to photograph in two very different spaces and have a little beer with our shoot.
In all seriousness, this couple is seriously in love. I mean it, they are special. Upon one of my first interactions with Clare and Tyler I was able to hear about their backstory. As Tyler recounted their history he said "We fell in love after we both stopped being afraid of falling in the first place". I think we can all take a little something from that sentiment.
As I am sure you would expect, I attend a lot of weddings. However, rarely are there paper cut outs and neon lights at the reception. To say this couple was fun is an understatement. Madeleine and Mitch's story began in the sixth grade and I think some of that childhood frivolity inspired their big day.
As a photographer, I appreciated the simplicity of the ceremony. All of the details indicated that you don't have to be flashy to have an amazing day. True beauty comes from the authentic moments. Some of my favorite moments came before the ceremony while the couple relaxed with their friends, shared a few tears, and of course, laughter.
