On April 3rd, Joyent brought together members of their engineering team to answer questions about the upcoming Node.js 12 release. Node.js continues to gain popularity and has even crossed over the million downloads a day threshold. Much of this growth can be attributed to its widespread adoption across web applications, mobile, and cloud native applications. During the discussion the panelists shared a wealth of information. In order for the comparatively compact team at EdgeMesh to disrupt the mature 8 billion dollar content delivery market, they needed to securely and efficiently build and deploy a service that was superior in both performance and breadth. Accomplishing that required EdgeMesh to deliver a ultra-low latency, global, edge native solution with with sub 1ms core service response times, and scale it to handle 10’s of millions of messages per second.
