Summer is all about having fun. But the skin problems many have to deal with in summer, can sometimes spoil the fun. Chafing thighs, skin irritation caused by the sun, mosquito bites, blisters and shaving rash, we all had to deal with it at some stage. Girl, we’ve got you covered! You can read how to treat summer skin problems right here.
Chafing thighs Chafing thighs can become a problem, especially during the hot summer months. Inner thighs rubbing against each other while walking may lead to an annoying rash or abrasions. Now, you no longer need to worry about that, because when wearing lace thigh bands, you prevent chafing of your inner thighs. The silicone edge on the inside keeps them perfectly in place. Not just super useful, but also oh so sexy!
Blisters When trying out those cute strappy sandals or new pumps at summer temperatures when your feet are more swollen, chances are you will end up with blisters. Heat and moisture are to blame. When you have really hot feet, it is advisable to wash your feet with cold water (no soap), then dry them well and apply talcum powder. You should also walk in your new shoes properly.
However, if you do end up with a blister, never pierce it. This is to limit the chance of an infection. Buy blister plasters which will reduce pressure on the blisters and aids in the recovery process.
Skin irritation caused by the sun Are you suffering from rashes in summer? This is more often caused by the heat than by solar radiation. Make sure you don’t scratch when it itches, this can lead to inflammation/scars. You should rather look for some cool shade and avoid strenuous exercise. It’s also best to keep your skin clean and dry, and wash with a mild soap.
Mosquito bites Itching, sleepless nights and bumps. Very annoying, and you suffer from it every summer. Is there anything you can do about the terrible itching? You usually have these remedies on hand already:
1. You can reduce the swelling with ice cubes, so the itching will subside. Are you covered from top to toes? A cold shower will sometimes also help.
2. Aloe vera is the perfect (wonder) product that cools and helps to reduce the itching
3. Mosquito bites can be dried out using toothpaste. Just make sure you wash it off well with cold water and soap.
4. The acids in natural lemon or lime juice also take the itching away. Don’t go in the sun though, because these acids will dry out your skin.
5. Wet the skin around the bump and scrub with some coarse salt. Then rinse thoroughly.
Razor rash An old or blunt razor blade is often the cause of razor rash and skin irritation. Invest in a good razor especially for women that has at least 3 blades and built-in shaving gel pads for extra comfort. But be sure to shave properly in the direction of hair growth, rinse thoroughly, pat dry and moisturise. If you really have sensitive skin that quickly shows irritation after shaving, make sure you shave at night so you can let your skin breathe. We also suggest wearing soft cotton underwear to prevent the occurrence of any irritation.
Have you booked a last minute holiday or are you just a bit late looking for a new bikini? No worries, we’ve got you covered! You’ll find our selection from the new swimwear collection with a high have-to-have content right here. The collection has just arrived, but be quick! Which item is your favourite?
Do you like striking? Then this reversible bikini is just what you want. You can wear the bikini in a variety of ways, both the inside and outside are meant to be seen. The unshaped triangle top has convenient ties in the neck and on the back, so you can adjust it to your liking. The high-leg bottom makes your legs seem taller (always nice!). So two looks with a touch of sexy? You go girl!
Are you a true leopard fan? Then this bikini may ab-so-lutely not be missing in your collection. The leopard bikini is perfect on hot summer days, and releases your inner-Jane. The top comes with removable padding (so handy!) and a high-leg bottom. Tip: the bikini has a small cut and especially the top is meant to cover less. A bit daring to your liking? Then take one size larger than usual!
Yellow is one of the trend colours this summer. This amazonia swimsuithas sexy lace-up details and removable padding. Can you already see yourself rocking in this little number? We combine it with a white boho dress and a large hat. Love it!
This two-toned bikini top has playful straps on the back. We love strappy details, so we can also see ourselves wearing this one under a beautiful satin blouse. Combine this with a high-leg bikini bottom, or how about a V-string bikini bottom? Do you dare?
The Dress Blues series include beautiful bikinis and a bathing suit in a lovely deep blue colour. The unshaped underwire bikini affords just a tad more support, and the cut ensures your breasts are beautifully accentuated. Fun fact: the back closes with a gold coloured buckle. Nice!
Small, smaller, smallest. This Tied Down string bikini is available in different colours, for those who dare to show a bit more skin (and less tan lines!). The bottom has a tie-closure, so you can tailor it perfectly to size.
We’ve known for ages that we should protect our skin from the sun. But hours of exposure to the fierce sun doesn’t make your hair very happy either. To avoid returning from a wonderful holiday with a head of straw, here are some handy tricks for protecting and caring for your hair as good as possible. From now on, you can be prepared for everything and parade in your new bikini without a care.
Protect & prevent Did you know that there are hair products containing UV protection? These products ensure that your hair does not dry out and they also protect colour. We are total fans of a leave-in spray that won’t weigh your hair down and also add a little shine. Win-win!
Whenever possible, we recommend you to delay your hair appointment until after your holiday. The sun’s rays cause fading or even a change of hair colour.
Rinsing with tap water Try to limit your hair coming in contact with sea water or chlorine as much as possible. These dry out your hair and even cause bleached hair to fall out (nooooo!). Style your hair in a bun and apply leave-in conditioner before you go swimming. This closes your hair scales so that salt and chlorine are not well absorbed by your hair.
But you still want to dive in? Then it’s best to first wet your hair with tap water so that salt and chlorine have less chance to get in. And rinse your hair thoroughly with tap water after swimming.
After washing, apply a nourishing mask for extra hydration and to regain a beautiful softness and shine. Do you suffer from dry hair? Then keep the mask on all night – you’ll be amazed by the result!
Are you all ready for your next holiday, but your bikini collection is due for update? Have look at our swimwear collection and score a new favourite bikini!
Going away for a long weekend, and you can only take hand baggage? This often causes a lot of stress, because how are you ever going to fit all your outfits and favourite bikinis in a single small trolley or bag? Nothing is impossible, and you’ll be amazed how much you can take with you if you’re smart. You’ll find the best tips right here, so after reading this article you’ll know how to pack like a pro. Bon voyage!
The basics It all starts with a good suitcase or overnight bag. Still looking for a nice one, or is your favourite old suitcase desperately in need of replacement? This fun pink leopard print suitcase is perfect for hand luggage! It has a TSA lock for added security, nice! Size: 31.5 x 22.5 x 58 cm
Mix & match The real deal. Since you’re somewhat limited in bringing outfits, it is important to carefully consider your holiday planning and what kind of outfits you can take with you. For a weekend getaway where you will be spending time lazing on the beach, visiting hotspots or getting into some action, and eating out at a fancy restaurant, we suggest the following:
Choose a layered outfit so you’re covered when the weather becomes a bit chilly on holiday. So, comfy trousers and your favourite chunky trainers therefore need not be packed in your suitcase (great!).
You should preferably take 2 or 3 bikinis, so you can mix & match. A triangle top takes up less space than an underwire bikini – so think smart. An oversized linen blouse is ideal as a cover up, and you can also combine it with jeans shorts when having lunch on the beach.
Going hiking / visiting an antiques market / or something else in which you will be working up a sweat? Comfy and airy are the perfect combination. Sports leggings or shorts can best be combined with an oversized t-shirt and your favourite trainers.
You can easily fit a pair of strappy-heeled sandals in your suitcase – and it will add that little bit extra to every outfit. You can wear a lovely see-through top with a lace bralette over your trousers. Or how about a brightly coloured summer dress? We love it!
Take at least 1 nude lingerie set, and a black lace bralette – then you’re basically always safe. And don’t forget to pop in some seamless strings, you can wear them under anything, anywhere!
Keep rolling That’s the real trick to ensure you will fit all the above outfits in your suitcase. Layer all the shirts, fold in the sleeves and start rolling from top to bottom. You do the same with your trousers and dresses. You go girl! If you want to bring more bras, stack them inside each other and place your strings inside the bra cup.
Shoes are hiding places! Roll up your socks in a sandwich bag, and place them in your shoes.
It’s not necessary to take along all your hair products, cleaning products and full make-up stash for those few days. Buy a mini version of the products you absolutely cannot do without, or use some of those transparent mini bottles which you can fill with small amounts. Pack a good day cream with SPF (very important!) and you can also use a coloured lip balm as a blush or when you want to add a beautiful glow to your eyelids. If there is no hair dryer at you destination, it is best to take a hair dryer brush – drying & styling in one! Suntan lotion and razors can be bought on location – saving some space;)
The struggle every girl recognises during the summer months: hair removal. Stubble, ingrown hairs, red bumps and irritated skin are the result of (excessive) hair removal. And when you go on holiday and you want to walk around in your bikini all day long, you may have no choice but to do so more often. But what are the best tips to prevent irritation, and which methods allow you to remove hair painlessly? You can read all about it right here.
Painless hair removal There are many different ways of getting rid of unwanted hair. The most common ways are shaving, resin, waxing and laser-removal. Not all methods are painless or affordable, so we have chosen three ways that will help you in getting rid of your unwanted hair in no time, painless (and affordable).
Shaving is the best way to get rid of your hair, super fast and painless too. This is therefore the method used (almost) daily and it is suitable for your entire body. But sometimes you may end up having problems with red bumps and ingrown hairs during shaving (especially along your bikini line). How can you prevent this as much as possible? Use a clean and sharp blade (preferably not a disposable blade), and use it just for your intimate zone. Go for at least 3 blades and built-in shaving gel pads for extra comfort. Make sure you rinse the area well, pat dry and moisturise. If you really have sensitive skin that quickly shows irritation after shaving, make sure you shave at night so you can let your skin breathe. You can also choose cotton underwear.
Another painless method that you should preferably only use for legs and underarms is hair removal cream. This chemical product dissolves the hairs in a few minutes, so you can easily wipe it off with a spatula. Following this, you have to clean your skin in the shower to avoid unnecessary irritations. Quick and simple! The big drawback: many hair removal creams are quite strong smelling.
A third way which is less painless than using resin or waxing, is ‘Sugar Wax‘. This hair removal method is not completely painless, but we want to explain it anyway because it really is a revelation to many. DIY Sugar Wax consists of only a few ingredients and is free of chemicals (great!). You can use it for your legs, underarms, bikini line, eyebrows and your upper lip.
Ingredients: 2 cups of sugar, 3 tablespoons lemon juice (45 ml) and 3 tablespoons water (45 ml)
Requirements: saucepan, spatula to stir, glass jar to store remainder of the resin
This is how it’s done
1. Heat the ingredients in the saucepan on medium heat and wait until the sugar is resolved
2. When the mixture has reached a nice golden brown colour, remove the saucepan from the heat. Please note – this mixture is HOT!
3. Allow the mixture to cool and pour it in your glass storage jar
This is how you use it 1. If you want to use the resin, it must be flexible. If it is not flexible enough at room temperature, you can warm it up a bit.
2. The area you want to wax should be properly clean and dry.
3. Make a little ball (4 cm diameter) and spread it over your skin, against the direction of your hair’s growth.
4. Pull off the Sugar Wax – in the direction of growth.
5. With this small amount of resin, you can remove quite a bit of hair. Thus, you have a lot in stock and you can get quite far with it. Pretty clever, right?

Unfortunately, you don’t get that perfect summer complexion after just 1 day of tanning in the sun.Fortunately, there is a self-tanner, so you can confidently show off that fabulous summer dress. Also great when going on holiday, and you don’t need to keep track of which bikini (colour) you are wearing. Read here how best to apply self-tanner. With these tips, you will get the best fake tan ever!
The perfect match Do you have light skin? Then you should best go for a self-tanner suitable for light skin. Ideally, you should build up your fake tan in layers, so you can work towards the desired results. When you use a very dark self-tanner all of a sudden, it may look very unnatural and you obviously would like to avoid this;).
Plan your fake-tan-date in your diary Yes, really, you want to do this right, and then you’re not ready in 30 minutes. Make sure you have an evening free, so you can go through all the steps so you can create a beautiful summer complexion. A self-tanner often needs to be absorbed between 1 hour – 6 hours. This obviously depends on how ‘intense’ you want the result to be. Avoid contact with water or sweating during this period (read: you really wouldn’t like a striped or patchy effect), so you should rather use the time to relax. Make sure you have a dark coloured old bathrobe or baggy lounge set you can wear, so you don’t leave stains on your couch/bed.
This is how you fake your summer tan Step 1: Make sure your skin is completely clean to create an even, streak-free summer complexion. It’s best to apply the self-tanner after a shower, and make sure you scrub all the rougher parts like your elbows and knees well. And don’t forget to clean and exfoliate your face properly too.
Step 2: Use a special glove that will ensure you can apply the self-tanner evenly and thus avoid stripes. Apply the self-tanner generously over your entire body and use sparingly on your face, elbows and knees. These parts can absorb more of the self-tanner, so you would obviously like to avoid those parts becoming more tanned than the rest. Don’t forget to include the top of your hands (and also between your fingers) and feet. If you still want to do your nails, this is the perfect time as you have the time to allow everything to dry. Win-win!
Step 3: When you first apply self-tanner, you can wash it off after an hour to inspect the result. Should this prove to be too light, you can apply the product again and allow it to be absorbed. Thus you can experiment, and you will know how long it should absorb to provide the required result.
Self tanning products are available in different forms: sprays, foam, wipes and creams. An alternative is self-tanning body lotion. You simply apply it after a shower and your skin is moisturised at the same time. Do allow it to be absorbed though, to avoid stains on clothes.
A major advantage of self tanning products is safety. In no time, you will have the same effect as a few days of sunbathing, which is obviously far more harmful to your skin. Just don’t forget to still apply a high factor sunscreen when you expose yourself to the sun.
Are you still looking for a new bikini for your upcoming holiday? Check out our swimwear collection, and who knows, you might just score your must-haves on sale!
Shopping on sale is extra fun when you know what to be on the lookout for. Are you always coming home with bad buys (who hasn’t) or don’t you know where to start? With these tips, you will score real musthaves on the summer sale.
What sale type are you? There are two types of sale shoppers. The first is mega greedy to have all those nice items at tiny prices, and arrives home with a size too small jeans, a fabulous glitter top, a bright pink blazer and extreme high heels. Recognise yourself? You’re a real bargain hunter and cannot resist the temptation when your favorite designer brand marks down the collection. On face value, you have scored really amazing items, but secretly, they will forever remain in the closet because they don’t fit well, or they are not quite your taste.
The second type is characterized by more focused shopping. You postpone your purchases until the sale and know exactly what you need for your next holiday, festival or to complete your wardrobe. You pop into the store beforehand to fit at a leisurely pace, and you take pictures that you could maybe discuss with your girl friends. You are not a mega fan of crowds, so you prefer shopping online. So useful!
Make a wishlist No matter which shopper you are, it’s a great idea to make a list of what you are looking for beforehand. You can also decide on a budget so you don’t feel guilty afterwards, or you’ll at least feel less guilty. Our tip: find a partner in crime who is also super crazy about (sale) shopping, but that can give your selection a critical look-over. Consult your wishlist beforehand, so it can remind you of the items you really need. Or create a group app and send pictures of items you are unsure of. Pretty clever, right?
Be prepared for everything Going shopping when you’re prepared is always a good idea, but during the busy sale period, it’s a must. Wear a basic bra and seamless panties (preferably skin tone) plus a basic top, so you’re prepared for any type of outfit. We also recommend you go for a comfortable look so you can fit clothes easily. Take a pair of (thicker) socks when shopping for shoes and don’t forget to take your debit card and some cash, so you are prepared for everything. Take as few things from home as possible and put all in a hip bag, so you have both hands free.
When you shop from home, we recommend you get into a comfortable lounge set, charge your laptop and crawl into your favorite spot on the couch, armed with some snacks. Ready to go!
Can’t wait to shop on sale? View the entire online sale collection now, with great discounts up to 50% on today’s must-haves.
Are you also fed up of walking out the door, perfectly happy, only to have the sweat running down your face and your hair all sticky within an hour? Just when you have an important appointment scheduled! Or how about a romantic date where you really want to make a good impression? High temperatures require a slightly different approach than just swapping your mascara for a waterproof type. With these make-up tips, you will keep your look meltproof for much longer.
Moisturise and protect At high temperatures, you lose more moisture than usual, so make sure you keep on moisturising. Besides drinking plenty of water, it obviously also has an effect on your skin. Cleanse your skin thoroughly, morning and evening, and treat it with a moisturising cream. It is also important that you use a day cream with an SP factor to protect your skin against sun damage. If your favourite day cream doesn’t have an SP factor, you can also buy an SP fluid to apply over your day cream. This is a must, even on a slightly overcast day!
Of course, we prefer to wear the minimum make-up at these high temperatures, but a BB cream offers an alternative to a foundation. If you still prefer to use foundation, it is best to first apply a primer so your foundation will provide a better cover. Then apply a thin layer of foundation, and you can also mix a little bit with your day cream beforehand, so it looks natural.
You’re totally safe with waterproof mascara! If you don’t want to give up on your all time favourite, you can also apply a waterproof top coat. Did you know there are waterproof eye shadows too? They don’t run and form lines in creases, so handy for a party!
Yes, we love make-up fixing spray! This spray will ensure your make-up look stays in place for longer, and basically serves as a top coat for your look. You can put the spray in the refrigerator beforehand, for an extra refreshing experience.

If you love summer but have trouble with high temperatures, you’re not alone! If you are quick to feel dizzy, tired and generally uncomfortable, these could be signs that your body is not ‘happy’ with the heat. With these cooling tips you’ll be well prepared for the hot days of summer.
Keep a cool head Have you noticed you have no trouble sleeping while on holiday despite the heat? This is because you have the right mindset. So, the best approach is to simply accept the heat and find ways to not let it bother you too much. Set aside time to rest and cool down; then you’ll be ready to go once again.
Wear loose clothing Wear loose clothing, preferably in layers. While the morning may still be quite cool, by the afternoon you will be glad that you can strip down to your T-shirt. And pay particular attention to your footwear. While it’s true that those festival boots make any dress look extra edgy, it’s still advisable to wear sandals when temperatures climb. If you want to protect your head against sunstroke, select headwear made of raffia or cotton, like this Doutzen’s Stories hat for example.
Our tip: always keep a swimsuit in your bag. That way you’re always ready to accept a last-minute invitation to a beach or pool date.
Keeping cool is key We have an easy, budget-friendly tip for you: a home-made air conditioner. Take several water bottles and fill these no more than 3/4 full (to keep them from bursting) and place these in your freezer. Once frozen, place the bottles in front of your fan so that the air will be blown across them, cooling the air and lowering the temperature in the room. Pretty clever, right?
Avoid using appliances that generate heat It’s wise to eat smaller portions when the weather gets warm: your body has to expend a lot of energy to digest any food. Eating large quantities warms you up, which is exactly what you want to avoid on hot days. And to keep your home as cool as possible, it’s a good idea to limit your use of the hob and oven. So, rather than baking a pizza in the oven, go for a refreshing, light salad.
Take a cold shower
Have a shower before you go to bed and turn it to cold at the end. It doesn’t have to be ice-cold of course; just make it a bit colder than you would normally find comfortable. This will cool you down and make it easier for you to fall asleep.
Wear wet socks to bed Yes, we know it sounds a bit strange, and it may not be the most comfortable way to fall asleep, but cool feet will help you fall asleep faster. And a great way to cool your feet is to wear wet socks (and aim the fan at them too for an even better effect),
If you know of any good cooling tips we’ve overlooked, we’d be very happy to hear them. By the way, have you had a chance to look at our swimwear collection? You’re sure to be ready to beat the heat at the beach with these items.
Another advantage of summer: a summer glow! A natural bronzy sun-kissed look you actually would like to keep throughout the year. You can create this glow with these easy tips. Read on right now!
Exfoliate Removing dead skin is a must for good skin condition. Exfoliation leaves your skin soft and glowing. Because the dead skin cells are soaked off, it helps to reduce enlarged pores and impurities. But don’t do so too often, and gradually build it up to a max of 3 times a week.
Moisturise and nourish Your skin may feel tight and dry, or you may even see a few more fine lines. Then it’s time for added moisture! Include (more) moisturising products in your daily skin care routine, and plan some weekly me-time, pampering your skin with a nourishing mask. Beauty products intended to moisturise your skin, contain substances that retain moisture, preventing moisture from evaporating from your skin. You’ll instantly notice your skin feels soft to the touch, and in time, the dryness lines will reduce.
Did you know the sun can be harmful even if it’s cloudy? That’s why it is always advisable to use a day cream with a sun protection factor. You’ll thus be safe and you will prevent premature ageing of your skin. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your arms/legs (and neck!) on sunny days too.
A little help from nature
That healthy summer glow goes hand in hand with a summer tan. We often look slimmer when tanned, and you automatically wear less foundation if your face has a healthy tan. Unfortunately, a quick tan is not in everyone’s genes, but that’s why self tanning products were developed! Tip: exfoliate your skin well beforehand, to reduce the chance of spotting.
When you want to go for a real GLOW, go for a highlighter or body bronzer with a shimmer. You can create a ‘subtle’ mix with your foundation or apply it as a highlighter over your foundation. With a strapless dress, you can add some shine on your shoulders and neck.
With these tips, are you really ready for summer! Is your bikini collectioncompletely up to date too?
