Yoga retreats are a great way to reset and recharge the mind, here’s our round up of our top five places to experience yoga, relax and reclaim yourself.

Rebalance the mind and body in Tuscany

Nestled in Tuscany is Grotta Giusti, one of the world’s most unusual wellness offerings; yoga in a millennial thermal cave with natural therapeutic steam baths. The historic Tuscan spa retreat is home to an ancient Grotto – a millennial thermal cave and a thermal underground hot spring lake – which famed composer, Giuseppe Verdi, regarded as “the eighth wonder of the world”.

In this ancient wonder, the hotel now offers thermal yoga classes with a qualified instructor. Yoga practiced in the natural warmth of this underground labyrinth amplifies sensations, aids concentration and raises body temperature whilst guests benefit from the therapeutic effects of the cave’s thermal vapours.

The water running through the Grotto is rich in salt, sulphate, and alkaline earth and comes out of the ground at around 34°C. Its vapours generate a steam bath that provides effective treatment for respiratory, circulatory, osteo-muscular, nervous, and skin complaints.

Classes can be booked individually, or guests can book the hotel’s two night thermal yoga experience. This special package includes a choice of scuba diving or floating therapy in the underground hot spring lake; floating therapy is a deeply relaxing and highly effective treatment for relieving pain and combating stress. Grotta Giusti is the only hotel in Europe to have an underground thermal cave and hot spring lake within its grounds and there is no experience quite like diving into its warm, thermal waters. The thermal yoga follows the floating therapy or scuba diving, with the once-in-a-lifetime experience topped off with an Ayurvedic Massage.

Guests booking the package will also enjoy full access to the hotel’s thermal hot spring swimming pools and bioaquam circuit, fitness centre and guided morning hike. Finally, dinner is included both nights, one a la carte dinner and one special and very indulgent tasting dinner.

Rates for the two-night thermal spa package start from €664 (£576*) per person based on double-occupancy. Rates include two nights B&B, one a la carte dinner at the newly refurbished La Veranda restaurant, one tasting dinner, thermal swimming pool and bioaquam circuit, a 50-minute thermal yoga class, 90-minute scuba diving or spa floating and a 50-minute Ayurveda massage. For further information or to book please email booking@grottagiustiapa.com or call +39 0572 90771. *Price in pound sterling accurate according to today’s exchange rate.

Gemma and Georgie are the founders and owners of ANJA Wellbeing the holistic health business that aims to help you stay healthy, be happier and reduce stress. We chatted with the pair about what inspired the business, how they work together as sisters and whilst we were there, got their advice on how you can set up a business and become a #girlboss.

House of Coco: What inspired the creation of AJNA Wellbeing?

Gemma and Georgie: We’ve both always realised the importance of health and general wellbeing, and were constantly searching for more sustainable ways to positively impact them. We were shocked to find just how many “health” products we used daily were full of chemicals and toxins, and were probably doing us more harm than good. That was really what inspired us to create our own holistic products that we could use, and share with our loved ones, with peace of mind!

HoC: Do you think being a family business, as sisters, impacts on how you work and is it important to you brand? G&G: A lot of people are surprised when we tell them we’re sisters because they can’t imagine working so closely with family. We get along really well, and share the same opinions on the really important things, so that makes it easy. Being sisters also probably gives us a familiarity that allows us to share ideas without any fear.

HoC: What are your favourite products that HoC readers should be putting in their online baskets?

G&G: Our first product was the Ajnamat, so it has a special place in our hearts. It’s a therapeutic acupressure mat that can help with a host of problems from pain management, stress, tension, circulation and cellulite.

We always take the matching pillow on long flights and it’s a lifesaver!

Just like our yoga mats and meditation cushions, what separates them from other brands are the sustainable, non-toxic materials used, and the beautiful aesthetic.

HoC: You believe in a holistic approach to wellbeing, what does that mean for you and your customers?

G&G: A holistic approach is one that looks at addressing the cause of problems, and not just putting a band aid on the symptoms. It’s more of a lifestyle than a quick fix.

We hope to provide as many people as possible with better, more holistic choices, and empower them to make self care a priority.

We truly believe that as a result, customers and those they care about most will be able to live healthier, happier lives.

HoC: What do you think are some of the challenges of running a wellbeing business in 2019?

G&G: There is no shortage of Wellbeing products on the market, so the challenge for us is setting ourselves apart.

We have done that through use of eco materials and a strong focus on a aesthetic, as well as consistently connecting with our customers to see how we can serve them better.

HoC: What is your relationship with One Tree Planted, and why is that important to you?

G&G: Giving back is an important part of our business, and One Tree Planted allows us to do that with every purchase made. For each product we sell they plant a tree!

Planting trees is a cause that resonates with us and our business, and goes hand in hand with our efforts to source sustainable, long lasting materials.

HoC: What piece of advice would you give to our readers who want to set up their own business?

G&G: Firstly, surround yourself with people who support you. If you don’t know any, go and find them. They’re out there!

Secondly, be prepared for ups and downs, and daily challenges. You’ll become a great problem solver if you stick at it.

HoC: What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given in setting up your business?

G&G: It may sound cliche, but following your passion, or “scratching your own itch” is usually where you’ll have the most success. When you love and believe in your cause, others like you will pay attention. And plus, it’s a lot more fun that way.

Luxurious 5* Castell Son Claret, founded in 1450 and set amid 326 acres of pristine parkland, is the ideal place to escape the everyday, immerse in nature and truly relax. It is no wonder that the hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. #TeamCoco made the short pilgrimage to the hotel from Palma to the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, which was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.

Straight away, the Castell is a treat for all the senses – some senses that we didn’t even know existed, after living in a sprawling city for so long. The palm-tree lined drive makes way for fountains and flowers in full bloom with bees and birds in nectar heaven. We were met by graciously warm staff and delicious home-made lemonade with ingredients from the lemon trees right outside the door. We could spot all the ingredients in many of the drinks served throughout the hotel’s Arabian gardens. We sampled the delicious creations in the cosy Castell Bar with atmospheric echoes and modern artwork.

Our room was located in one of the fairy-like turrets in the castell looking over the gardens and surrounding mountains. The rooms were tastefully decorated with hints of traditional Mallorquín style with large, gorgeously comfortable beds and REN products in the bathroom. A handwritten welcome note, complimentary bottle of locally produced cava, fruit and fresh ensaïmada was left for us. We enjoyed our treats with the rooms view and saw the misty mountains turn a bright shade of ochre as the sun set later in the evening.

Dinner at Olivera was a refined yet laid back affair, the perfect sister to the more dramatic and Michelin starred Zaranda where we had our finale dinner. All ingredients used in Olivera’s menu were fresh, seasonal and sensationally Spanish. We ate the homemade buratta with aubergine ‘Caponata’, the catch of the day (a beautifully prepared sea bass) and Castell’s lemon tarte with blueberries.  Delicious. Drinks afterwards were prepared by the legendary Roberto whose love for the ingredients and the cocktails he was creating was truly infectious.

All aspects of the hotel, the staff, the food, make guests feel relaxed and starts from breakfast. One of the waiters said to me that true luxury is feeling comfortable. I felt at home instantly in the castell and I now take this saying with me wherever I travel. We enjoyed traditional style eggs made with local ingredients as well as my all-time favourite, Mallorquín tortilla. Breakfast also included juices, cold cut meats and cheeses. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the bakery on-site where the ovens are fired up each morning as the sun rises to produce different types of bread and buttery pastries, made by talented artisans.

We did yoga in the breezy, immaculate grounds next to the beautiful fountains. We were completely at one with nature with scents of bergamot, vetiver, jasmine, coriander and roses floating around us. Our instructor Anna was very knowledgeable and encouraging. We stretched out within the natural environment and also had a meditation session in one of the larger suites at the front of the castell. Anna explained that the key to true relaxation is distracting your mind and truly ‘putting yourself in the moment’, your body will no doubt follow. We focused on breathing and my mind opened up to things I had put to the back for years.

After the session we had a tour of the grounds and saw some of the rooms outside of the main castell as well as the tennis court and new pool suites. The walking trails around the hotel are well sign posted and just waiting to be explored. The hotel staff were helpful in recommending which route was best and that can provide the best views. Seeing the castell nestled in the valley at the foot of the mountains from a distance, is not to be missed!

At the end of the day, it was time for Zaranda, the only two Michelin star restaurant on the Balearic Islands. It’s time to whip out the glad rags because you are in for a show. And quite literally, the restaurant offers a view into the kitchen, so guests can catch a glimpse of the chefs at work. Our meal, from the cocktails served at the beginning right up until the delicious sweet goat’s cheese buratta served with strawberries and fresh basil was just like a performance, a culinary flamenco or heightened opera with passion and drama in every pairing and every dish. Our bespoke pairing includes high-quality wines from the hotel’s private and well-stocked cellar that complemented the menu perfectly, with help from the sommelier. We were offered a tour of the energetic kitchen and met the man of the moment, the famed chef, Fernando P. Arellano who has truly built a culinary spectacle inspired by the gastronomic richness of the Balearic Islands and his past experiences, and then – curtains closed!

After the festivities at Zaranda the night before, needless to say we visited the spa, Bellesa de Claret. The spa is a retreat for relaxation, not tool big nor too small with everything you need to truly take a step back from the everyday. The steam room was infused with essential oils and sauna and plunge pool were the perfect components in order to relax. We saw out the afternoon on a bike ride from the property to nearby town Calvía. The bikes are available from the hotel whenever you wish, perfect for cycling enthusiasts. We heard Spanish families out on their balcony’s surrounded by flowers having their late Sunday lunch, children on their fathers’ laps, abuelas’ bringing out the tapas and aunties pouring the sangria…a scrumptious Mallorcan tableau.

Our final meal was enjoyed in the sun at Olivera before saying goodbye, all washed down with lavender infused lemonade overlooking the outside pool and ethereal mountains. Everything was connected and everything felt just so. At Castell Son Claret, relaxation is first and foremost on the menu, naturally.

Rooms at Castell Son Claret are priced from €305 (from GBP 262) per night and suites from €755 (from GBP 648) per room per night, including daily breakfast, WIFI, parking, tax and service.  www.castellsonclaret.com

Hailed as one of New York’s beloved vegan fast casual brand, by CHLOE.’s Covent Garden home is soon becoming London’s favourite plant-based restaurant. If you’re looking to indulge in some tea and cakes, minus all the guilt, then by CHLOE.’s Afternoon Tea is definitely the afternoon Tea for you.

Served in the two candy coloured long tables in the middle of by CHLOE.’s totally Instagrammable space, the Afternoon Tea is composed of British inspired tea sandwiches and cakes — but with a healthy twist! For instance, the tuna in the classic tuna sandwich has been made with chickpeas, the Egg Salad is made with Tofu, and the Smoked Salmon is made with marinated tomato filets, seaweed, and smoked chipotle. Moving onto desserts, the tea cake selection is composed of baby cakes, cupcakes, and scones made with special egg and butter-free flour. All washed down with some tea selections from by CHLOE.’s official tea partner, Good & Proper Tea. (We swear, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference in taste, but your body will thank you afterwards!) So everyone from vegetarians and vegans alike  can rejoice and partake in the quintessentially British tradition without having to worry about a thing.

TeamCocopup Charlie didn’t miss out on the plant-based action too, because he got his own bag of 100% organic and plant based Peanut Butter Dog Treats from by CHLOE.’s in-house brand of healthy doggy treats. So if you’re looking for ways to spend an afternoon with your pup this spring, then definitely pop into by CHLOE. – for some afternoon tea that’s easy on the eyes and even easier on your health. After a busy work week and lots of boozy after-work situations, by CHLOE.’ s British inspired Afternoon Tea was exactly what this mum and pup needed to recharge and refresh for the week ahead.

https://eatbychloe.com/ by CHLOE.’s Afternoon Tea will be available Thursday to Sunday from 2.30pm to 6pm at both UK locations, with bookings to be made via the website, https://eatbychloe.com. We are living in a world of total extremes, and these extremes are taking a toll on our bodies, inside and out. We are world-travellers, social media whizzes, work-a-holics, party animals, and generally live our lives to the max, no wonder our bodies are showing tiredness and exhaustion. One possible solution (as well as catching up on plenty of sleep) is to take a supplement to help revive us. #TeamCoco are well into taking supplements, from the well-known Vitamin C tablet to the lesser known zeaxanthin supplement. So, we’ve compiled a list of five, what we think are the best supplements to help revive.

CannabiGold, CBD Oil, food supplement priced at £29.50 (500mg), available online from Bionativa.co.uk or via Cannabigold.com

CBD is one of the hottest wellness ingredients of 2019 and rightly so, Nutritionist Alix Woods working in collaboration with the CBD oil, CannabiGold explains that; “CBD oil has anti-inflammatory and pain killing properties, skin supporting vitamins A, D & E and healing essential fatty acids. With regards to CBD balms and oils they work directly on an area by lowering inflammation, pain and swelling.”

The #TeamCoco girls have been told that CBD can help when using it on your feet, and this is the secret to wearing heels like a celeb. As you know heels look great, but they can be painful, so the perfect way to revive your feet for a night wearing heels is by using CBD oil on your feet – just rub it on.

WholeVit B Complex by Together, priced at £8.49 (30 capsules), available from Togetherhealth.co.uk

Several B vitamins are needed to make energy. Imagine them as having different job roles in an energy factory! They too are found naturally in whole foods, but because their sources vary depending on the B vitamin, it can be a challenge to be sure we’re getting optimal levels of all of them. Vitamin B12 in particular can be difficult if you’re vegetarian or vegan.
