i havent been on Fodors France forum for several years, but will be in Paris in Nov. and am looking for some old trip reports. What I remember is they were written by a lady named Joan and she went to Paris several times a year. She wrote long reports detailing her visits to restaurants, exhibitions, etc. She had a friend that she referred to as French Girl. Does any of this sound familiar? I would appreciate any help in finding some of these reports as they contained valuable information
Thank you in advance!! .
On another site, there is some chatter than the cable car in Dubrovnik that takes you up to Mount Srd is no longer operating. Can anyone in Dubrovnik, or someone who visited recently, confirm? Are there hiking paths if we still want to see the views? Thanks!
Looking for quick lunch spots child friendly in Mystic, CT. We are doing a weekend getaway there with our 17 month old and have dinners figured out, but was looking for easy/fast lunch spots - must be kid friendly!
I leave for Sydney tonight for a business trip. I will have Saturday to be a tourist in Sydney. I will be on my own and am thinking the walk from the harbor to the botanical gardens would be a good way to spend time catching the amazing scenery. Any other ideas?
Any spots for dining Friday night and Saturday for lunch and dinner that you would suggest--I am happy to eat at the bar when dining alone but that's sometimes harder on weekend nights.
I wish I had more free time on the trip but that's life. Any suggestions are welcome.
We are planning a two week venture to Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier in June/July 2020. We will leave June 20th and return July 4th. We will be traveling from Wisconsin and driving. We are planning to do camping and we are a family that is very comfortable camping with all the supplies needed. While we would love more solitude and privacy camping we will be securing reservable campsites so we are not wasting time trying to get the first come and first come sites. At the same time on our drives out and in we will be using hotels. We will be two adults and two children ages 10 and 7 at the time.
Here is our tenative plan:
June 20th-Head as far as we can in South Dakota. We did South Dakota two years ago so will make this our long drive day. (Hotel) June 21st-Cody, WY with a stop at Devil's Tower, We would like to spend the evening in Cody and see a rodeo. (Hotel) June 22nd-June 24th Stay in Canyon campground in Yellowstone. in our 3 days in this area we will try and see the top loop (Mammoth, Canyon, Norris, Twoer-Roosevelt and Lake Yellowstone. June 25th-26th-Stay at Colter tent cabins in Grand Teton. We will have two days here and think a float ride andboat/ride hike to Jenny Lake will be on the agenda. Along with other site seeing. June 27th-28th-we will head back to Yellowstone and will stay at Madison Campground. We will do the lower loop West Thumb, Old Faithful and Norris area. June 29th-July 2nd will include travel and staying in Glacier. We are thinking of staying on the west side of Glacier for the first two nights and then will stay on East side of Glacier. We know that there is a possibility that the Going to the Sun Road may still be closed, but hoping it will be open since we are doing this at the end of our trip. I am looking for advice on any sites/hikes that you would recommend we see with two kids in Glacier. I would love to see the Grinnell Glacier but not sure even with the boat ride that my youngest will be able to do the hike. Any advice on how to see what we can see by Many Glaciers if we don't do the Grinnell Glacier. The campsites are not reservable until 6 months prior so not able to reserve until later in the year. July 3rd-4th This will be very long days of driving home to Wisconsin through North Dakota. We lived in North Dakota for several years and understand the long drive. I would like to stop at have the kids see Theodore Roosevelt National Park and spend a few hours here on our drive home.
Any suggestions of how we have laid out and if you would suggest any other order of doing the things that we would like to do. Both my husband and I have been to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons about 15 years ago. Since we saw a lot with our 5 days in Yellowstone and 2 days in Grand Teton we will be more go with the flow and let the kids have some time to relax and do more kid friendly sites. We would maybe consider taking Grand Teton off the list o
Do you have any suggestions on our way to Glacier in terms of route and any stops to be see on the way?
We are also open to hearing about any must do attractions with kids and places to eat. We will be doing a lot of picnics, eating at campsites, but want to mix that up with places to eat that the kids may enjoy.
I have 14th edition (2013) of this guide. I've purchased the latest edition each update. I can't find any mention of a 15th edition, either on fodors.com, nps, or on Google search. Does it exist? Does anyone have any info?
My Wife and I are looking for the destination of our next trip to Europe, but I'm torn on the best spot. This place looks like a good place to help with that. Who wants to help us?
We have been to Ireland, and Madrid basically free using Airline miles and Expedia points and would like to do the same thing to somewhere else in Eurasia.
We will have enough AA miles for a flight to Europe, so timing of their cheap awards tickets is the only thing that will hold us back there.
I'm Expedia Gold Member and get double credit for my points if I stay at one of their VIP Hotels.
(will not let me post the full link)
My wife's only requirement is that she wants to stay at an all-inclusive property so we don't have to figure out what we're going to eat on a daily basis. I'd like to get the most bang for my buck (I'm cheap), but can't seem to find a good way to filter Expedia's Website for VIP Hotels that are on the VIP Access list. This is especially hard since I don't have a destination in mind yet.
I've been looking in the Cypress, Turkey, area, but I don't know much about them.
My dream is Israel so I can see Biblical history, but giving my wife her all-inclusive stay is more important to me right now. The thought is that if I get close enough to Israel, I can do a quick flight in and see a few things and then fly back out the next day, but I have no idea how that would work.
The timeline for our trip is June-August 2020. Any ideas for great destinations or lower price all inclusive resorts?
I know questions like these are asked all the time, but i wanted to get some direct advice from the folks on this board. I appreciate the advice!
We are planning a vacation (5 nights/6 days) in middle to end of Feb 2020. The travelers are my wife, myself, and another couple. We have a budget of ~$4000/couple (including airfare from Philadelphia). Also would prefer to have all inclusive with that budget, if it were not all inclusive then the air/hotel would have to be a little bit less to offset meal costs.
Right now we are leaning towards secrets wild orchid in montego bay, since we got married at secrets maroma a few years ago we know they are wonderful resorts. However, we are also open to new ideas, and some of us want to try a southern Caribbean island or new location altogether (we have already been to mex and jamiaca).
Any advice/recommendations that you guys can give me are very much appreciated.
