The Le Tub Saloon (Hollywood)

About the shop: LeTub Saloon has been safely tucked away on A1A behind lush greenery, that even people who have lived in Hollywood for years, have unknowingly driven right past. For the last 32 years it has been a refuge to a large handful of lucky locals, whom either found it while boating on the Intercoastal Waterway or informed by word of mouth, for there were no signs and no advertising.

LeTub has been impressing people for many years and for many reasons. The food (all of it) has always been outstanding, no matter what you choose to eat. We offer many one of a kind recipes you won’t find anywhere else, including our Seafood Gumbo the House Salad Dressing, and Key Lime Pie that has always been made on premises and the recipes have never been differed. The only thing that has differed is our recent claim to fame in 2006 when GQ gave our Burger #1 in the nation. We know what a honor that is and truly appreciate it, yet we believe that LeTub should remain impressing people for the same reasons it always has. And for the people who appreciate the food and atmosphere that took years and hard work to establish, and so many come here to enjoy. We surely hope that if you have some extra time on your hands you will come and enjoy what the locals already get…..A little slice of Heaven on Hollywood Beach

Castronovo Chocolate Factory (Stuart)

About the shop: At a glance, all chocolate-making looks the same: beans are cultivated and fermented, roasted and ground, sweetened and sold. Large-scale chocolate manufacturers have optimized this process for mass production. The unfortunate result: flat, uninspired, expressionless chocolate – the taste has been engineered out of the bar!

We salute the few, craft chocolate makers that are taking time and care with each part of the chocolate making process, releasing the full potential of the bean; those who are supporting careful farming and fermentation, the ones who ensure farmers are paid a fair wage through an ethical and sustainable supply chain, and those who skillfully grind, roast, and sweeten without diluting the bean’s essence.

We at Castronovo Chocolate are in relentless pursuit of discovering the absolute depths of the chocolate experience knowing full well we may never get there. But along the way, we can all enjoy a bar of the most flavorful chocolate you can find.

Whetstone Chocolates (St. Augustine)

About the shop: Henry and Esther Whetstone are Florida natives and lifelong residents of northeast Florida. Henry had just returned from a stint as an Air Controller in the U.S. Air Force and a tour in Japan and was working with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Jacksonville. Esther, who flew to Japan to marry Henry, returned to St. Augustine as a first grade teacher. Together, they longed to own and operate their own business.

They studied the local retail market and quickly discovered an unsatisfied demand from the many tourists and the local residents for superior quality ice cream. Operating from their kitchen each night, Henry and Esther first opened their small ice cream store on St. George Street in the historic business district of St. Augustine in 1966. The parlor quickly developed a reputation for serving the best ice cream in town. Today, this original store is known as Tedi’s Olde Tyme Ice Cream and remains a part of the Whetstone Chocolate experience.

In 1984, a new 10,000 square foot factory was constructed on Highway 312, south of St. Augustine. More wholesale products were added and contract work expanded as Nestle’s, Hershey and M&M Mars became significant wholesale customers of Whetstone Chocolates. Although it remained small by comparison, Whetstone Chocolates became highly sought after among the giants of chocolate for its production quality, creativity and innovation.

In the early 1990’s the Whetstone Chocolate factory became a major attraction as tourists and local residents alike sought to learn more about the unique Whetstone delicacies. Daily tours, conducted at first by Virginia and later by her staff, became commonplace for tourists as well as many local families.

The majestic Gulf Coast waters lap the shores of Florida over seven hundred miles! Welcoming millions of tourists each year, it’s not hard to find a sandy place to soak up some sun. But to make it an even easier decision, we’ve narrowed down the best Florida Gulf Coast beaches to visit.

Better yet? FloridaRentals.com offers thousands of Gulf Coast rentals for all tastes. So you’re sure to find the perfect beach house to suit your needs in one of these Gulf Coast gems. A Florida Gulf Coast beach house rental means extra space for the whole family (and beach toys?), a full kitchen for home-cooked meals, and amenities like laundry or an outdoor barbecue area.

Destin

Located along Florida’s famed Emerald Coast, Destin is one of the most popular destinations in the world for trolling, jetty fishing, and deep sea fishing. While experienced anglers can head out on their own or fish from one of the nearby piers, many visitors to this Gulf Coast city sign up for a fishing charter to improve their chances of success. You can even find kid-friendly charters that help little ones learn all about the basics of fishing so they can reel in their very first catch.

The popular Destin Harbor Boardwalk is another family-friendly activity that is worth checking out. There’s always something happening on the boardwalk, which stretches nearly a quarter of a mile along the harbor. It features stunning views of the sandy beaches and sparkling shoreline, as well as a number of fun shops and restaurants. The boardwalk is also a great place to sign up for boating activities and water sports.

With over 340 days of sunshine per year, and average temperatures that never drop below 60 during the day, this is a world-class retreat any month of the year, but especially in April.

The beach (and all that comes with it) is the main attraction. From sunbathing and surfing to snorkeling and scuba, you won’t lack for activities by the ocean. For the boating crowd, head to Crab Island, the area’s famous sandbar, to socialize. Off the shoreline, hike or bike your way through 200 miles of preserved trails.

Siesta Key

If a relaxing beach vacation is your ultimate goal, don’t miss the chance to take in Siesta Key, one of the eight barrier islands of Sarasota. Known as one of the finest beaches in the U.S., Siesta Key features glittering turquoise waters and pristine sugary white sand consisting of 99 percent pure quartz, giving it a super-soft and cool feel underfoot. You can simply relax on the sand and splash in the surf, or you can take part in one of many beachfront activities, like beach volleyball, snorkeling, and kayaking.

While staying in a beachfront hotel provides you with some truly stunning views, it’s not a requirement for enjoying this destination’s picturesque sandy shores. Plan a budget-friendly family vacation by staying elsewhere on the island and taking advantage of the free parking at the beach. There are several nearby attractions when you need a break from sunbathing, too. Consider checking out the Ringling Museum and the Children’s Rainforest Garden at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

Marco Island

Located just off Florida’s west coast, Marco Island is another great choice for a family-friendly gulf coast vacation. This Gulf Coast destination features gorgeous white sand beaches, crystal clear blue waters, and plenty of sunshine for a warm, relaxing getaway.

Outdoor activities are popular on Marco Island. You can rent Jet Skis, go windsurfing, try birdwatching, or collect seashells along the shoreline. Many people also sign up for fishing charters or dolphin watching tours. You can check out a number of nature preserves and state parks nearby, as well, including Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park.

At Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge you can walk through a massive forest full of plants and animals native to the Everglades. Stop by Old Marco Lodge Crab House for some of the waterfront restaurant’s famous stone crab claws. The island is a great place to stay if you want to enjoy a rural paradise, but there are still plenty of local attractions. Tigertail Beach Park is a popular spot, featuring a gorgeous lagoon that’s perfect for paddleboarding.

For shelling, you’ll want to plan a day trip to Keewaydin Island where kids will love playing and digging, and adults will love the tranquil turquoise waters. Mackle Park is community oriented and beautiful. You can walk the path around the pond, shoot some hoops, shuffleboard, bocce ball, or go inside to the game room. For boating excursions, sunset cruises, and deep sea fishing charters the Isles of Capri Marina is most likely where you’ll be leaving from. These trips out on the water are definitely worth the cost as the experience is unforgettable.

St. George Island

Laid back, lighthearted St. George Island is the ultimate Gulf spot. Part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, this Florida barrier island offers beachgoers a rare swath of totally undeveloped coastline perfect for swimming, sunbathing, fishing, and playing around.

Nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the Apalachicola Bay, the island has two public beaches, Massingale Park Beach and Coast Guard Station Beach, both of which have lifeguards on duty during the summer season and a bathhouse open to beachgoers. Visitors love the warm water temps and the calm waves at these beaches. The sand is soft and easy to walk on, plus the shelling opportunities are endless!

There’s also plenty for wildlife enthusiasts here. Keep your eyes peeled for splash pine flatwoods and swaying seat oats that dot the shorelines. Whether actively looking or not, it’s also likely that visitors will see nesting loggerhead sea turtles when visiting between the months of May and October. The island is home to many turtles and unique wildlife, which is part of what makes it one of the best Gulf Coast beaches for vacationers to escape to.

Panama City Beach

Though it’s known as one of the top spring break destinations for the college crowd, Panama City Beach offers plenty of family-friendly fun year-round. With 27 miles of sugar white beaches and nearly 100 public access points, this sandy length of shoreline is always busy but rarely feels crowded. There’s room to spread out as you relax on the soft sand, swim in the beautiful blue-green waters lapping at the shore, or play some beach volleyball. You can soak up the sun by day then head out to local seafood restaurants and bars with live music in the evening.

If you’re looking for a break from the bustling beaches, consider heading to nearby St. Andrews Park for the day. This area features unspoiled natural beauty and a perfect place to bike, snorkel, or kayak with fewer crowds nearby. There are also several family-friendly attractions in town, the most popular of which is Gulf World. This theme park offers fascinating educational shows featuring marine life, as well as the opportunity to swim with dolphins.

Clearwater

When someone tells you “Florida beach” you should immediately think of Clearwater. Named by TripAdvisor as the best beach in America for 2018, which is high praise and deserved. Almost a million visitors come here every year to enjoy the award-winning sun, sand, and surf along Clearwater Beach. You’ll never run out of things to do seaside or on land, you simply have to know where to look. But your search, as always, should begin at the ocean.

Walk toward the more residential north side of the beach for a little serenity away from the bustling scene of Pier 60 and Clearwater Marina. Speaking of Pier 60, it’s located at the promenade and provides visitors a gathering place for a daily sunset festival with artists, craftsman, music, and more. There’s also a park featuring two unique covered playground areas that include swings, slides, monkey bars, and a replica ship to play on.

Miami Beach

High end shopping, the finest of dining, and dazzling turquoise waters are synonymous with Miami Beach. Of course, any discussion of the top honeymoon activities in this area starts with South Beach. Miles of pristine sand and sun worshippers dot the coast. There’s plenty of opportunity for body surfing, boogie boarding, and windsurfing along the ocean. Key West

Surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, Key West offers visitors ample natural beauty and great swimming beaches. History buffs love the island’s maritime history and legends of its famous residents, while partygoers can’t get enough of Duval Street. Located closer to Cuba than to Miami, Key West offers endless Latin and Cuban cultural influences from the cuisine to the music and art. Running four miles long and about two miles wide at its widest, this is a small island. The popular Old Town makes up about half of this area.

Even getting to Key West is an adventure. The Overseas Highway is one of the most beautiful drives in the country. Completed in 1938, it connects a string of cays and coral rock with 113 miles of concrete roadway. The aptly named Seven Mile Bridge is the longest and most scenic of the entire route.

Hop on the Conch Tour Train for a fun way to see the surrounding area. You’ll get a narration of the city’s past from an experienced tour guide as you cruise around the streets. Walking tours are one of the best ways to see the city, too. Peek in at the area’s intriguing architecture, courtyards, and gardens.

Sanibel Island

For a more low-key Florida honeymoon, check out Sanibel Island. Most visitors spend their days sunbathing on the sand, collecting seashells on the shore, or going for a relaxing swim in the calm, emerald waters.

One of Sanibel Island’s main attractions is its natural surroundings. Rather than the well-groomed white sand beaches along Florida’s western shore, Sanibel has darker and slightly rougher sand with plenty of sponges, driftwood, sand dollars, and seashells scattered throughout. The island features bright flowers and lush vegetation. You’re likely to encounter some fascinating wildlife, including colorful birds, tree frogs, and chameleons. Many people visit the island’s J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge for birdwatching.

Couples visiting Sanibel Island for a honeymoon can partake in plenty of other activities besides spending their days on the beach. You can rent bikes or scooters to explore the island or book a ride on a sightseeing boat. Fishing, kayaking, and snorkeling are popular activities here, as well. Rather than lots of fast-food chains, you’ll find charming local restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a delicious and affordable meal.

Indian Shores

Indian Shores, west of Tampa, Florida, is the quiet escape you’ve been seeking. This barrier-island community is small, friendly, and fun. The pace is slower here, but you’ll settle right in as soon as you unpack. The white sand beaches are the top attractions here in Indian Shores, and next door Indian Rocks Beach. Visitors love the ample free parking and soft sands, only one of which you can find in bigger locales like Clearwater.

There’s always something to do in Indian Shores. The community center in town hosts a number of events annually – including hikes, garden tours, book drives, painting classes, and more! In March, in nearby Indian Rocks Beach, the Greenfest event helps preserve local beaches.

Climbing has a social aspect that we especially crave, and love how it brings folks together. Unlike a lot of other sports, climbers of all levels and walks of life are constantly seen at the crag encouraging, laughing, and loving together. We’re here for each other, and all we want- even when competing with others, is for everyone to succeed in unison. We’re here for our members, and our community- because they love climbing as much as we do.

That being said, we’re not here for your novel entertainment. When we say we love climbing, we mean it. We’re obsessed. We hate the idea of climbing gyms as amusement parks, and think the world would be better without another carnival climbing tower with greased up holds and rigged games. We’re also not a ninja warrior gym, though ninja warriors are always welcome. We’re here to climb, and get others to climb. We’re here to share our experiences with you, but not on our terms, not on your terms- but on Climbing’s terms.

If you’re looking for an amazing beach getaway, check out Florida’s Gulf Coast. Stretches of soft sand along the Florida shoreline make for a relaxing and scenic getaway. Plus, many of the cities and towns along this coast offer an abundance of family-friendly activities and attractions. Head to one of these top Florida Gulf Coast destinations on your next family vacation.

Sanibel Island

Surround yourself in nature’s abundant beauty with a trip to Sanibel Island. This Gulf Coast destination is perfect for families looking for a rustic getaway. When you’re ready to begin exploring the island’s lush surroundings, start at J.N. (“Ding”) Darling National Wildlife Refuge, which features fascinating animals, hiking and biking trails, and bird-watching opportunities. The beaches here tend to have windier waters, making it a great option for sailing or surfing.

One unique attraction on Sanibel Island is the beautiful seashells scattered along the beach. Known as the “Shelling Capital of the World,” the island provides plenty of opportunities to hunt for stunning shells that have washed ashore. The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum features even more information about these little treasures and includes some particularly impressive seashells found on the island.

There’s plenty for kids to explore in this lovely Florida city, too. Children of all ages enjoy the Naples Zoo and Caribbean Gardens, while little ones will have a blast at the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. Like many other Gulf Coast destinations, Fort Myers Beach features gorgeous beaches with soft sugary sand. However, that’s only the beginning of the attractions in this family-friendly city. You can sign up for a dolphin eco-tour or fishing charter. Take a tour of nearby islands like Cabbage Key and Cayo Costa. You can even catch an MLB spring training game since both the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins head here for pre-season practice.

Fort Myers Beach also boasts small-town charm. Some visitors like to stay in one of the island’s adorable cottages during their visit. Be sure to tour the grand Fort Myers estates where Henry Ford and Thomas Edison used to spend their winters. The Mound House on Fort Myers Beach offers another peek into history with connections to the Calusa Indians who once lived there. For another educational opportunity, check out the IMAG History & Science Center where you can check out pythons, salamanders, and other creatures in the Living Lab.

With surf, sun, and sand to spare, Florida has become one of the nation’s top spring break destinations. Its beaches offer a chance for families and students to take a break from cooler temps and soak up some rays on the sandy shores. Whether you want to unwind on a relaxing vacation or enjoy the party scene, you can find exactly what you’re looking for when you visit the Sunshine State. Check out one of these top spring break beaches in Florida to find your idea of paradise.

Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach is known for its party atmosphere. A very large crowd of college students usually gathers here over spring break. The revelers enjoy celebrating all along the Atlantic’s sandy shores, especially near Main Street Pier and the boardwalk.

You’ll find lots of bars, restaurants, and tourist shops scattered along Atlantic Avenue, which runs parallel to the beach and is within easy walking distance of the beachfront hotels. If you’re traveling by car, you’ll be pleased to discover that Daytona is one of the few places where you can actually drive right onto the beach, thanks to its hard-packed sand. Parking on the beach is only allowed in specific areas, however.

This active city along Florida’s eastern shore is constantly hosting big events and draws huge crowds during the spring break season. Bike Week, which occurs in early to mid-March, is one of the biggest events of the year in Daytona, so you’ll have to book your accommodations well in advance if your spring break falls during the same time. If your spring break takes place in April, you’ll experience slightly less dense crowds post-Bike Week and college spring break schedules, making for a more family-friendly experience.

One of Daytona Beach’s main attractions is the Daytona International Speedway, which hosts a variety of stock car, sports car, and motorcycle races throughout the year, including NASCAR races. It’s also only about an hour from Disney World if you hope to spend some time at the famed theme park during your spring break trip.

Sanibel Island

For a more low-key Florida getaway, check out Sanibel Island. Located in the beautiful barrier islands on the Gulf Coast, Sanibel is considered a family-friendly spring break destination, with fewer crowds and a quieter atmosphere.

Families visiting Sanibel Island for spring break can partake in plenty of other activities besides spending their days on the beach.

South Beach

This popular beach in Miami is the perfect spring break destination for those who want an upscale vacation atmosphere. The beautiful stretch of sand is located along the southern portion of Miami Beach City. Just steps from the beach, you’ll find an impressive array of restaurants, hotels, boutiques, and nightclubs, most of which are of the chic and expensive variety. The beach is also conducive to a number of sports and outdoor activities, including beach volleyball and windsurfing. After a day in the sun, most visitors head out for glamorous shopping and clubbing in the evening.

South Beach is also known for its cultural attractions. It’s home to the famous Miami Art Deco Historic District along Ocean Drive. Walk or drive along this road and the neighboring blocks to see the world’s largest collection of modern art deco architecture. You’ll also find a number of theaters, museums, and art galleries in South Beach.

Panama City Beach

Located along Florida’s Emerald Coast on the state’s panhandle, Panama City Beach is a popular regional tourist destination. The gorgeous green waters are spectacular to see in person. The white sand is so soft that it squeaks underfoot. This is a great spot to visit if you want to experience beaches as gorgeous as some of those found in the Bahamas without having to leave the continental U.S.

One of the other perks of Panama City Beach is its affordability. It’s not quite as pricey as some of the other destinations along the Emerald Coast, and you can choose from an abundance of hotel accommodations near the beach. There are plenty of great activities to check out as well, including dolphin tours, trips to nearby Shell Island, a Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum, and several state parks.

Panama City Beach is especially popular with spring breakers from southern colleges. It has been known for the beach parties and club crawls hosted during this time of the year. Some of the spring break partying has become tamer in recent years due to new restrictions that ban alcohol on the beach. If you visit outside of the nearby college spring break dates, you’re much less likely to encounter this type of rowdy atmosphere.

Fort Lauderdale

For consistently great weather and a unique city to explore, visit Fort Lauderdale over spring break. This destination boasts warm weather and plenty of sunshine year-round. Though it’s a top pick for college spring breakers, the partying usually remains under control thanks to alcoholic beverages being banned on the beach. Most of the partying takes place at bars across the street from the beach along what’s known as The Strip. Families can enjoy a relatively quiet and calm atmosphere if they find a spot on the beach away from the bar scene.

One of Fort Lauderdale’s unique attractions is its network of canals, which have earned it the nickname of “The Venice of America.” Consider using the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi as a way to get around while also enjoying scenic views of the area. You can also venture over to the Las Olas neighborhood to check out museums and other cultural attractions. While this downtown area has mostly upscale restaurants and boutiques, you’ll find plenty of affordable shops, restaurants, and cafes along The Strip.

Marco Island

Located just off Florida’s west coast, Marco Island is another great choice for a family-friendly spring break.

Many of the resorts and dining spots on the island have a slightly higher price tag compared to some of the state’s other beach destinations. You’ll find more affordable accommodations when you opt for a Marco Island vacation rental, instead. There’s not as much of a nightlife scene on Marco Island, which is a bonus for families who want a quiet, relaxing experience. It can be a drawback, however, for those who like to stay out late on vacation.

Cocoa Beach

Enjoy a great combination of scenic beaches and nearby attractions when you visit Cocoa Beach for spring break. The scenic beach features a long pier and plenty of fun activities, including fishing and beach volleyball. It’s also one of the most famous surf destinations in the world and offers some of the best surfing on the United State’s East Coast. Make sure to stop by Ron Jon, the world’s largest surf shop, during your visit. You can also visit the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame to learn more about the city’s surfing roots.

Located just south of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Cocoa Beach is near the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. A stop by this attraction can include access to historic launch sites and working spaceflight facilities. Depending on the timing of your visit, you might be able to catch a rocket launch.

You’ll discover fun places to eat and drink right along the beach. In general, Cocoa Beach has a calm atmosphere that’s ideal for families. While you can certainly enjoy a laid-back week of sunbathing on the beach, you can find plenty of things to do to keep you occupied if you prefer to be active.
