Leadership - E5 Leader and E5 Leadership Academy - YouTube

SUMMARY

  • There is no such thing as a natural-born leader. Leadership is learned, plain and simple.
  • Who do you lead?
  • Yourself: True leadership starts from within. Lead in the good qualities of life and the good nature of life. Make quality decisions that others can model.
  • What kind of leader are you?
  • Review your daily success principles and habits to recognize on which side of the leadership trail you rest your hat.
  • Lead yourself, then other people will want to follow you.
  • Trust is the second phase of leadership. Others gain trust and follow you because of the things that you’ve done.
  • Leadership should never be self-serving.
  • Leadership isn’t power; leadership is influence.

Ethics - E5 Leader and E5 Leadership Academy - YouTube

SUMMARY

  • There are no other ethics than ethics. John Maxwell says, “There is no such thing as business ethics. There’s only ethics.  The good news is if you have them, they work everywhere in your life.”
  • If you don’t have them, you can get them.  You aren’t born with ethics. They are a product of adaptation and environment.
  • Ethics are a benchmark for the drive of character.  The content of your character is developed because of your ethics.
  • Ethics are the values, the systems and the tools we use to discern and determine what is right and wrong.
  • A proper ethic is one that doesn’t break God’s laws or man’s laws. There is a higher authority and certain natural rules of order that apply.
  • The corporate life and the culture of corporations needs ethics to affect change in the world. When hiring people, make sure that they have good, sound ethics.
  • Make sure that the ethics you model in life are worth modeling.

The Biggest Obstacle I Had to Overcome to Become an E5 Leader - E5 Leader and E5 Leadership Academy - YouTube

SUMMARY

  • The obstacle that gave me the most difficulty, that I had to overcome, was finances. I didn’t understand them; didn’t have respect for money.
  • I was good at making money, but bad at hanging onto it. I didn’t know what to do for long-term, legacy, and proper investment.
  • It was hard for me to go to financially successful people who hadn’t achieved balance in life and let them help me.
  • I had to find a mentor who had 10 years of financial success, ‘fruit on his/her tree’ and who invested personally in what he/she was selling.
  • To seek mentorship and listen to people who knew money and understood finance, though they didn’t understand some other things in life was something I had to overcome.

Learning Confidence - E5 Leader and E5 Leadership Academy - YouTube

SUMMARY

  • Some people are prone to it; others are not. Everyone can build it.
  • Secrets to building confidence: Talk out loud. Speak words of positivity to yourself to bolster confidence.
  • Focus on the things which you are good at. What are your talents, your skills? Recognize the attributes of positivity in your life and stick in that vein. The longer you associate with confidence, the more confident you will become.
  • The confident person sometimes has so much that it exudes and breeds confidence in others. If you’re lacking confidence, get around somebody with a confident nature to help build up yours.
  • Familiarity makes you comfortable. In that comfort, you can gain confidence. If you fear something, attack it!  Learn to get good at it, you’ll gain confidence.
  • Confidence should be respected. Over-confidence can cause harm.
  • Confidence and cockiness are closely related. Learn to filter confidence it and to throttle it appropriately.

Advice for a Divorced CEO on Rebuilding Relationships - E5 Leader and E5 Leadership Academy - YouTube

SUMMARY

  • E5 Leader is a relationship-builder and mender. Anguish, grief, and baggage from the past can be dealt with by applying principles of E5, enabling you to approach those you love and may have hurt, seek their forgiveness and build bridges.
  • Involve your (future) spouse in your leadership walk. Help him/her to make the transition into the culture of thought you have developed—‘a culture of life’ culture of thought.
  • Make sure he/she is ALL-IN with this leadership. Encourage and work with him/her.  Emphasize and let him/her know how important it is, how life-changing it’s been. It’s that important.
  • It is a tragedy if one outgrows the other. People grow apart because of dissimilar interests.  Interests become dissimilar because one is growing and the other is not.
  • Being on the same trail allows your relationship to thrive.

  • No thought is generated without input.
  • Temperament, our hardwiring, is what processes inputs to formulate opinion, values, ethics, and behavior.
    • Four categories:
    • Choleric – the hard-driven type-A person who’s always going after it.
    • Phlegmatic – cool, casual, laid back, nothing seems to bother them.
    • Melancholic – likes a sense of order and has a sense of idealism.
    • Sanguine – happy-go-lucky person, life of the party, full of life and energy.
  • The temperament you have is responsible for the way you think and act.
  • Understanding temperaments helps you understand yourself better and others as well. Knowledge of temperaments allows you to understand why people act/respond as they do.
