Valid

I love many things about this scrapbooking hobby of ours: preserving memories for the next generation, improving photography skills, playing with awesome products from our talented designers here at Designer Digitals. But a significant by-product for me is what I’ve learned about design through the process of creating memories. I am often drawn into a page because of the strong design elements, just as I was by this page from Sylvia (smcloone). I loved how she put that delightful photo right in the center of her page, drawing attention to it and making it the star of her design. Her color use, title work, and choice of elements support her summery theme and unify her page. Three of our talented Guest Creative Team members jumped at the chance to lift Sylvia’s page. Take a look at their pages and be inspired!

 Sylvia’s page:

Deborrah (DivaMom96) was inspired by Sylvia’s summery subject and scrapped a photo of a friend having fun at a resort. Her choice of watery elements is perfect, and her title and journaling frame that great photo so well. And I’m of the opinion you can’t go wrong with turquoise for summer pages!

I love how Barbara (grantlaurensmom) translated Sylvia’s design into the perfect cold weather page. I adore the crop on the photo and the way Barbara drew the color scheme of her page from the photo – that’s another design tip that always serves me well. The brushwork at the top and the border at the bottom of the page serve to balance her centered design.

Lori Ann’s (lmaggs) page takes us back to summer – don’t you just want to take a dip in that cool infinity pool? Paradise, indeed! Lori created her own border around the outside of her page by repeating the words of her title. Repetition is another design tip that helps to unify a page. And I really like how she balanced her design with clusters on the left and right of her photo.

Sylvia and these ladies have given you lots of inspiration for your own design. I hope you’ll get in on the fun and post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery as well as in the July Challenges Participation Sign In thread in the forum. Happy scrapping!

Happy July and welcome to this month’s Let’s Blend Challenge. We are going to work with some fun patterns and masks this month. Let you imagination run wild!

Here is what I came up with using the free products Katie has provided for us:

I took the frame and added a blend mode to it to blend it into the photo and mask. The key is to play around with the products, moving the layers up and down and adding blend modes.

When you complete your page, post them in the Mask Appeal Challenge Gallery and don’t forget to link up your page in the July Participation Thread for proper credit.

I look forward to seeing your work in the gallery. Have fun!

It’s Christmas in July at Designer Digitals! There are thousands of Christmas products in the DD store so choosing one for this month’s Wayback Wednesday Challenge was not an easy task. I finally settled on the gorgeous ARTOption Mini Mix No 04. It has a bit of everything needed to create a page. I especially love the soft blues and the vibrant reds in this kit. Your challenge is to use this kit for a page of your own. It’s that simple!

Our Creative Team has provided you with some great inspiration. The first page is from Sharon (Shannamay). She started with that pretty blue paper as a backdrop for the adorable photos she tucked in. A few well chosen elements and some delightful journaling finish off the page.

Joanne (jcaruth) chose another of the gorgeous background papers as a starting point for this stunning page. The pops of red on this paper perfectly echo the color in Joanne’s beautiful cardinal photo.

The ARToption Mini Mix No 04 will be included in this weekend’s sale. We’d love to see how you use this beautiful kit for your own page. Post your page in the Scrapbook Challenges Gallery for us all to enjoy. And don’t forget to include a link to your page in the July Challenges Forum to help you earn a valuable coupon to the DD store. Happy scrapping and merry Christmas in July!

Happy Christmas! We are celebrating our annual Christmas in July sale today along with many stores (including the Hallmark store where my daughter just started working!) I always think it’s fun to keep with the holiday theme for the SSL so I dug back into the gallery looking for a fun Christmas themed page to lift and I think I found one. Arte Banale is always a favorite of mine for inspiration and this page is no different.

Although this is a Christmas themed page, this design could be used for an everyday photo as well.

Our guest CT members jumped right in to join me this week. Up first is Blackkathy. She kept with the color scheme and the general design for these sweet photos of her cat hanging out under the tree. Love her title work with the subtle star in the background.

Christmas Lodge Element Pack, Christmas Lodge Paper Pack, Country Christmas Paper Pack, Country Christmas Paper Pack, Photo Clusters No. 62, Curated Studio Mix Scrapbooking Kit No. 30, Layer Works No. 868, Typed and Scripted Brushes and Stamps No. 11, Watery Christmas #4

lmaggs also kept with the color scheme for these precious Santa photos. Love her shadowed title and the buffalo print to match her sweet dress.

Christmas Lodge Roughed Up Paper Pack, Vintage Christmas No. 02 Layered Banners, Admit One December No. 01, Vintage Christmas No. 02 Trees and Stars, Vintage Christmas No. 02 Layered Frames No. 02, Readymade Layers: Christmas Borders No. 12, Blitzen Element Pack, Layer Works No. 757, ChristmasLinensNo2

Finally, I used the inspiration to scrap my daughter’s 20th birthday which happens to happen right before Christmas. Can’t believe she is 20!

Frame and Blend Story Layered Template No. 5 , Miriam Element Pack, Miriam Solids Paper Pack, My Family Genealogy Records Paper Pack No. 03, Layered Memories No. 122, Plastic Slimline Serif Alphabets No. 02, Doily Edgers No. 03, Vintage Photo Frames No. 48, Clean Stitched Rounded Corners Red No. 01, Messy Stitched Borders: Red No. 01
December Stories Element Pack, Golden Season Star Clusters, Redwork Element Pack

Looking forward to seeing your lifts in the gallery. Whether you pull out the holiday photos or not, I hope you find inspiration from this week’s SSL. Be sure to post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Gallery. If you use 100% DD products, your page qualifies for the rewards program. Please post your pages in the July 2019 Challenge Participation Thread.  Have a wonderful Saturday!

Pride!  What does it mean to you.  When we are proud it’s such an overwhelming feeling, it’s like your heart is beating on the outside of your chest for all the world to see.  So this month I want you to do a page about pride.

So what has made you proud?  With 4th of July recently there’s a lot of patriotic pride, how about National pride from whatever country you are from.  Pride at winning a competition, pride at school report marks, pride of saving and buying your first car, pride of owning your house, pride of getting that promotion, proud of your family, proud of standing up for yourself, how about being proud about just getting through the day when things are tough.  We can go in so many directions with this one.

The creative team have jumped on board with some terrific example pages.

DivaMom has created a magic page about her sons.  Now THIS is why I scrapbook, I’m sure you too.  These boys will never have to wonder just how their mum feels about them.  It’s our heart on a page isn’t it?  Awesome page.

And for my page I’ve scrapped a page that will go in my marathon album.  It was hard to get the words on the page just how I felt, then and now remembering back.  I’m so glad I’ve told that story of my feelings.

The team at DD have generously provided a freebie to help you on your way, the link is good for the entire month of July.  I hope the goodies inspire you.   I am really looking forward to reading your stories.

Post your pages in the Scrapbook Challenge Gallery and don’t forget when you use ALL DD product on your challenge page you should post a link of your page in the July Challenge Participation thread so that it will count toward your savings in the rewards program.  Everyone’s a winner!

Welcome to July, ladies!!! I hope everyone who celebrates the 4th had a great day!!! This weeks Saturday Scraplift features Nath’s beautiful page, Alice and Donnie! The photos are sweet, the colors are fabulous, but what really caught my eye on her page was the two columns of beautifully arranged elements just slightly shifted from each other!!!

Deborrah (DivaMom96) was inspired by the shifting elements and colors of Nath’s page; She even added a sweet kitty photo of her own! I really like the grungy feel to her page!

Products: Layer Works No. 1104, Bliss Scrapbooking Kit

Lori Ann’s (Imaggs) page is also super fun and documents her fur baby who liked to see what the neighbors were up to. I like how she incorporated the two columns into her page but changed up her colors choices.

Products: Layer Works No. 1115, ARToptions Ledger Paper Pack No. 01, Rubber Charms: Pets No. 01, Puppy Power Element Pack, Posted Pups Postage Stamps, Outlined Alphabet No. 01, Monthly Memories Vol. 02: Foundations No. 07, Cute Mini Mix No. 04, Lemon Zest Paper Pack

Debi’s (beehive50) simplified lift made her page more about the photo. I really like how she incorporated the colors from the inspiration page!

Products: Lemon Zest Solids Paper Pack, Flair Minis No. 01, Flair Minis No. 04, Big Bottom Lift Classic Photo Frames No. 02, Hand Scripted Summer Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Stamped Stitches No. 14 Brushes and Stamps

My inspiration came from Nath’s two columns of shifted elements, it took a while, but I finally came up with a shifted design that worked well with my elements and photos!

Products: Hand Scripted Stars and Stripes Brushes and Stamps No. 01, Americana Country Element Pack, Astro Bead Scatterings, Monthly Memories No. 07 Painted Layers, Painted Palettes Paper Pack No. 02

Be sure to post your page in the Saturday Scraplift Gallery. If you use 100% DD products, your page qualifies for the rewards program. Please post your pages in the July 2019 Challenge Participation Thread. I can’t wait to see where this inspiration takes you; I’ll be looking for your page in the gallery! Have a wonderful Saturday!

As we celebrate the end of school this week and welcome the warm lazy days of summer, I have been reminiscing about this time last year when we were walking through the lavender fields in the south of France. We stayed in an area called the “Var” and it is absolutely picturesque. Blue skies, purple fields dotted by bright yellow sunflowers, and dry brown earth. The smell as you walk through the fields is intoxicating. After a few hectic days walking through the busy streets of Paris, the calm rural scene was very welcome! We didn’t really have a plan, but just drove around the hills and the fields were literally everywhere you looked! The hilly drive was capped off with a lavender ice cream in a small town called Bauduen, on Lac de Sainte Croix. (Photos below are my own and I used Adobe Color to create the block of colours pulled out from the photo)

Here is the page that I (sterkeurs) created!

Here is the list of products that I used: Enamel Sentiment Signs No. 01, Vintage Traveler Remnants No. 01Vintage Traveler Stickers, Vintage Ephemera Remnants No. 01, Canvas Cardstocks Paper Pack No. 05, Color Me Happy Element Pack, Minted Wings Element Pack, Monthly Memories Element Pack No. 04, Patterning Palette No. 04 Element Pack, Spot Dots Brushes and Stamps No. 04, Spring Meadows Brushes and Stamps Summer Gardens Element PackVintage Photo Frames No. 38Wood Veneer Words No. 34,  Readymade Layers: Botanical Clusters No. 12Vintage Traveler Bits and PiecesVintage Traveler Little Stickers No. 02Vintage Traveler Layered BannersHike More Outdoors Scrapbook KitMy Travel Journal Layered Template No. 08

Lori Ann (Lmaags) also joined me in creating a page. Her Mother’s Day Blooms uses the softest of purples and yellows!

Products that she used: KPertiet_Inspiration040718, Grunged Up Photo Blocks No. 05 , Brushes and Stamps, Readymade Layers: Spring Borders No. 03.

I hope that you’ll find some inspiration from these colours to create a page for this month’s Color Challenge! There are so many great products in the store that reflect this palette: Monthly Memories Vol. 02 Bundle No. 05, Patterning Palette No. 04 Bundle, Botanical Colors Chartreuse Solids Paper Pack, Just Linens Paper Pack No. 36….just to name a few!
