Saoirse’s name might be hard to say if you aren’t used to Irish spelling, but she is definitely someone you will recognise. She has been acting her socks off since she was 9 and has stared in Atonement, Hanna, Brooklyn and her latest hit Ladybird, just to name a few. It is incredible to think that at only 24 she has won a staggering 46 awards including a Golden Globe but enough about her work let’s talk about her style. This Galway girl loves to go from classic beauty in the day to daring diva in the night. Keep reading to check out how you can steal her style.
Ooh hello, beautiful blue eyes! Saoirse looks very East London here with her funky shirt and earrings. Despite all the colour, the thing that stands out the most is still her eyes. That is not just because she has lovely blue eyes but because of the smart way she is wearing her hair. This could be her real hair but there are very few pictures of her with a fringe so it is more likely to be a clip in fringe hair piece. These can feel awkward at first but they are super easy to put in and can be trimmed to the shape and style that suits you (trimming is a total must if you want to be 100% happy with the length and shape in my opinion). What she has done is made the fringe thinner on the top, grazing her eyebrows and thicker and longer at the sides. She has done this so her fringe doesn’t make her face look shorter but simply draws attention to her eyes.
Who says you can’t wear a loose/ messy bun to a formal event? She looks incredible in her long pink dress and bun. With the dress and her complexion being so pale it is her hair that actually makes this outfit. The trick to turning it from everyday to evening-worthy is volume so get teasing and make sure you have your hair extensions in.
Having been born in Brooklyn Saoirse must have felt at home on the set of her film Brooklyn, and she looks incredible. In a very 50’s style look she has dyed her hair a light brown and put it up in a beautiful curled style. If you are going somewhere fancy or just want to glam yourself up to do this look. The easy way to achieve this is to tie your top section up and create large curls all over. Pin them whilst they cool and hairspray them so they will hold their shape. This is a very manicured look so don’t release your curls until they are all cool brush over them gently roll your curls towards the nape of your neck so they look like they could have rollers under them. The trick is to get the rolls all the same size so they blend beautifully.
This stunning German model, presenter and all-round business genius has wowed and shocked us in Project Runway, America’s Got Talent and on the red carpet. How could you not be a little jealous of those legs and that style! She designs as well as models so we know she has a great eye for style. Let’s check out this style icon so we get take some of her styles for ourselves.
Heidi’s dark side
Wow, she is usually so nice but she looks like she has gone to the dark side in this shoot. With a clear 1920’s nod, her deep lips look sensational. Not the typical 1920’s finger wave hairstyle she is rocking a sleek and sophisticated wet look updo. This is a great way of making a cocktail dress you have had for a while seem new and feel fresh. If you are going for a bun rather than a ponytail, do what Heidi has done and made sure you have somebody on top. This will instantly make you look edgy and incredible.
Heidi the ninja
I am getting some incredible ninja vibes from Heidi’s look. For others of you who are avid Project Runway watchers, you will remember this style from season 2. not many people could pull this off so be warned. A long bob with a fringe is not uncommon but she shapes it inward to draw attention to her amazing jawline. If you want to have mid length hair, take on this year’s trend and clip in a straightened blunt cut fringe. As Heidi has proved here you don’t need to put your hair up and hide it away when you are busy. Sometimes having a simple look is great even if you are running around.
Heidi does not hold back on the sex appeal for her lingerie line. What is her secret? She has two, texture spray and extensions. She has created this vibe of excess luxury starting with her beauty styling. If you are thinking of crimping or loosely curling your hair but it is thin, it will probably look messy rather than styled. If this is you add hair extensions and create a central parting so your hair is lovely and full around your face. This is also an amazing look for a casual look or a beach style.
Heidi the Spanish dancer
I feel like Heidi might start doing the flamenco at any moment in this colourful off the shoulder dress. With drop hoop earrings and a choker necklace, she couldn’t look more like she is out for a fun night.to show off the amazing dress she has put her hair up. This is a great idea if you have an off the shoulder dress or top, it makes you look really expensive. She has more than a little bit of hair gel in and has created a beautiful tight bun from a neat Dutch braid. This looks amazing, good job Heidi.
Ponytails are a go-to for any occasion. They can be sleek and classic or wavy and cool but the best thing about them is versatility. My favourite look is a side ponytail. It is great as a workout look and for going out. Let’s check out three hot side ponytails that are a must try.
Side ponytail pull through
Create a side parting and take all your hair over to the thicker side. Now is the perfect time to add your ponytail extensions, if you don’t already have them in, as this is the position your hair will be in for your hairstyle. Brush it so everything is nice and blended before you divide a one-inch section of hair from behind our ear (this should be the longest section of hair). You want this section to be compact and hold together to mix some mousse and wax and use your fingers to spread it down the middle section of your section. Hold the rest of your hair in one hand and the small section with the other. You are going to create a pull through so still holding the top of your small section and wrapping the rest of it around the rest of your hair. The top bit will have become a loop which you can pull the end threw to secure. Add a bit more hair to your thin section to repeat two more times. To finish secure the end of the thin section to your ponytail with an elastic hair tie and spray to finish.
Part braid ponytail
Start by creating a side parting, I did mine on the right to show off my most photogenic side, and move your hair to the thick side. You could do this with a fishtail braid but if you a time short like I was a dutch braid is so much quicker. Take a two-inch section from the tick side and divide it into three, crossing them underneath each other from another towards the middle. As you head towards your ear add some strands for thickness. When you get near the nape of your neck stop braiding, tug it to make it full and secure it with a clear hair tie. Gather the rest of your hair with your braid so you can gather it into a side ponytail and secure where your braid ends. Wrap your hair tie with a few strands.
Divide your hair above your ears and pull it back into a ponytail. Wrap some hair around your hair tie and pin it to conceal it and pin it in place. Go down a couple of inches and add another hair tie. Pinch the section in between your hair ties so it becomes a bobble shape. When you have the thickness you want to wrap a strand around to hide your hair tie. Repeat this a few more times until you get to the end of your hair. Add hairspray to finish.
I know I usually chat with you guys about all things hair extensions but I want to talk to you about haircuts today. Getting your haircut can be a big deal, it can completely transform you on the inside and the outside. Whether you are doing it just for fun, to mark a transition in your life or for your hair’s health, you want to get it right. I obviously can’t tell you what is the right style for you but I can give you some advice to make sure you get the right look.
Find your inspiration
Before you take time to go to the hairdressers, know what you want. This is key to being 100% happy. If you want to take a lot of hair off, be specific, how much? I always look at my favourite 5 celebrities to see what I love about their hair and if I think it would suit me. Have fun with it, create a mood board and print it for your hairdresser.
Get the right hairdresser for you
The most expensive is going to be the best? not necessarily. Don’t get mistaken I am not suggesting that you go out and get your hair cut by anyone but you do want to get what you pay for. I always trust my friends and family way more than an advert and I think most of you would be the same. Ask them who they go to, especially if they have hair like yours, and get a contact. If you are not a big fan of your friend’s hair it may be because they need to get a trim so find out how long ago they got a cut before you judge.
There are two things you have to be incredibly mindful of when getting a haircut, your face shape and your hair type. These are things that you cannot change. Yes, you can curl straight hair or straighten your curly hair but you want to get something that will suit your natural texture for ‘running late’ days. It isn’t just about managing your hair but what will suit your face shape so if you are considering fringes or changing where you part your hair research it first.
Know how to keep it up
One of the worst thing that happens is that after a week the haircut that we loved turns into a haircut that we hate. Unless someone has gone Edward Scissor Hands on you whilst you sleep, it is probably your routine. If this is a drastically different look than the one you have had before talk to your hairdresser. Tell them what time frame you have each day to look after your locks and ask them what you need to do to keep your hair cut salon perfect. If this is a style you were on the fence about and went for anyway (never do that) then make sure you have some hair extensions as a back up just in case.
Knotted styles are one of the best-textured looks that have trended over the last few years. I have seen some incredible pictures on Instagram and Pinterest that are all lovely but incredibly different. I have seen some very catwalk worth minimalist knotted dos and some way more intricate wedding inspired styles. Here are three that are great and easy to achieve with your extensions.
Everyday knotted updo
This is great for an evening out or a picture perfect visit to the beach. Start by brushing out any tangles that can mess up your style, we want texture not a bird’s nest. Divide your hair into three vertically and add your extensions in the middle of these sections. Tie the lower two away, we are going to focus on the top one for now. Divide the top section in half and knot the halves together like you would your shoelaces. Un-tie the second section and split it in half like you did before. Add the ends of the top knot to your middle sections before you tie them into a knot again. Repeat the last time and tuck the end pieces underneath. Though you are not using hair ties you will need to use hair pins to help you keep these lovely knots into place.
Knotted braid bun
This is fantastic when you wake up and your hair just won’t play by the rules. We are going to start by creating your braids you are going to have five in total. Start with the ones at the front, so create a centre parting and gather your hair from the centre to your temple. Do this on both sides and create simple three strand braids and secure clear hair bands. Brush the remaining hair back and divide it into three, each of these will be basic 3 strand braids as well. Once you have those in and secured twist the middle braid at the back into a bun and pin it so it is firmly secured to your head. Now, this is when the intertwining and knotting happens to link the other back braids through the bun you created with the first one and create a nice design by knotting the ends together and pinning it in place. Wrap the two front braid around the whole thing to find any hair ties to finish.
Low knotted ponytail
This is the most basic style but is one that you may have seen in editorial shoots and is incredibly versatile. Start by vertically dividing our hair in two and cross your right half over your left. Pull it tight and pull the other side through to make your knot (like you would a shoelace). If you have tape in extensions this will be perfect but I wouldn’t advise putting in the clip in hair extensions. Putting both parts in one hand secure with a clear hair tie below your knot to keep it in place. If you want to hide your hair tie wrap some strands around it.
This is my judgement on how good a style actually is. Having styles that look great but fall out in two seconds we want styles that we can work and party in. keep reading for day to night inspiration
This is a classic look that is a go to turn your look from day to night. This is a style that you can rock with long or short hair and is perfect for keeping those layers in place. Once you have your hair extensions in flip your hair forward and create an upside down dutch braid from your neck to your crown. To do this take a two-inch section at the nape of your neck and divide it into three equal parts. To form the dutch braid by crossing the side sections over each other going under the middle.once you add a few strands and get your braid up to your crown secure it with a clear hair tie, the ends will stick out like a ponytail. Now you can pinch your braid gently so it looks full and wide. Now your braid is looking fab let’s create your bun. If you have a bun doughnut or an old sock it is time to grab them for a great shape. Place it at the tip of your hair and roll It down to the bass. Pin it in place and pull any loose strands you want to frame your face out. Add some hairspray and you are ready to go.
Old school front twist
This one has a great retro vibe to help you rock your style from day to night. This is a totally low maintenance look that you will look amazing in at a casual movie or girls night. Detangle your locks, add some serum and your hair extensions and get ready to create your style. This is one of the rare styles that doesn’t have a parting. Instead, you are going to comb all of your hair over to your left side, near your ear. Divide a section in front of your ear, you are going to form your finger loop with it. The trick is to twirl it up and around your index finger, away from your face. You may need to twirl it a few time so you don’t have the end section sticking out. Tuck the ends inside the roll and secure it with a few hairpins. This is the key to your look so you don’t want it to fall out. You could leave the rest of your hair down if you want but I love looping it too. Gather the rest of your hair to the side and twirl it around your finger again. You want this loop to be tighter so you can fasten it to your head. Roll it as neatly as possible then get those hairpins out again. This is a beautiful looking style so we don’t want it to fall out in the evening carry some extra hairpins and some hairspray with you.
It is that time of year again, Oscar season. This award evening is one that everyone who is anyone wants to be at. The 90th Oscars ceremony took part on the 4th of March and already have tongues wagging about who won and the amazing outfits. So why waste any more time? Let’s check out this years’ brilliant Oscar style.
This Irish beauty has grown up on the big screen so it is no surprise she is nominated for best actress in Ladybird. It is also no surprise that she looks at ease and incredible in her green gown, it is a good thing too considering the design. With the wow worth dress and costume earrings, she has gone a bit more low key hairstyle. She has achieved this by keeping any kinks or waves very natural. What has given this style a Hollywood feel though is the body she has created at the crown, possibly with the help of extensions, and her wide zigzag parting. You can finish with some texturizing spray and hairspray to complete the style.
Mary J Blige
If you were like me and managed to struggle through constant sobbing to complete watching the brilliant film Mudbound you will realise how stunning Mary J Blige’s performance as Florence Jackson. I didn’t even recognise her at first, what an incredible transformation (the highest compliment an actress can get) so it is no surprise that she was nominated for best supporting actress. She was definitely back to her glamorous style at the 2018 Oscars in a show-stopping all-white look. This dramatic look is incredible and is like the 20’s bob has come right into 2018. if you have a light bob why not copy Mary J Blige and add manicured waves and a deep parting. Be warned this style may require a bit of extra time and a lot of hairsprays to hold. The key here is to have one section behind your ear to make it Hollywood worthy. If you want to check out how to create these lovely finger waves check out this blog; https://www.cliphair.co.uk/hair-extensions-news/how-to-hairstyles/hairhacks-how-to-get-long-finger-wave-hair/.
If you like curly locks, you are going to fall in love with Sally Hawkin’s look. The Shape of Water actress was nominated for best actress and, even though she didn’t win, she looks like she couldn’t be happier. This hairstyle has a very 90’s vibe with the ultra side swept fringe covering her forehead. I feel like curls are perfect to suit Sally’s bubbly personality. If you have mid length hair and want a style to help you make your hair look thicker, look no further. Although curling makes your hair makes it look shorter the adds width makes your hair look full and luscious. If you want to get Sally’s lovely shine add some serum to your hair before you curl it. This is also brilliant to heat protect and don’t forget to add hairspray to hold.
We love are locks, especially when it is curly. Curls have been back in the spotlight the last couple of years. Whilst straighteners have been a girl’s best hair friend, curlers are quickly catching up. Whether you have naturally curly locks or like to your curler keep reading to find some wicked hairstyles that will suit you.
Ponytail half updo
I do have naturally curly hair but not tight curls that give you that wow volume. If you are like me I would definitely get your hands on some Clip in curly hair extensions. There are some amazing Cliphair extensions that already have been curled lightly which is great for conditioning. Once you have your hair extensions in creating a wide triangle shape from behind your ears to the top of your crown. This is going to be your half up section so secure it with a hair tie for now. You want to make this lovely a voluminous so make your it is standing upright and tug the hair around your head so you look like you have luscious hair all around. If you don’t have naturally curly hair now is the time to go to town with your curlers to create bouncy small curls. This year’s hot accessory is the scrunchy so why not add a scrunchy or a clip to wrap around and show off your high pony. This is perfect for a day out with friends or even a low key date but it will draw attention to your amazing curls so wear it with style.
Pulled back braids
This is great if you still want to show off your curls but you don’t want them in your face. Don’t put the serum on as you are going to be braiding and it makes it so much harder with serum. Brush your locks and add some hair mouse instead. Separate your hair along your hairline from the centre to your right temple. Divide it into two and create an amazing fishtail braid all the way to the nape of your neck. before you secure it with a clear hair tie tug on the sections to make sure your braid is as luscious and amazing as possible. Repeat on the other side so they are symmetrical and the end hair ties are in line. Hold the hair ties together and grab a few strands of hair behind them wrapping around the hair ties to conceal them. You will have the ends still sticking out so fishtail braids them together to nearly the end and secure with a clear hair tie. Wrap some strands of hair around your hair tie to conceal it. To finish spritz with some alcohol-free hairspray and you are ready to rock this even at a formal occasion.
Twist pull back
This is another look that is great for a casual occasion and is super quick. The best thing about it is that al your need is hairpins. Create a shallow centre part and take sections either side of your parting. Divide each section into two and twist them around each other and pin the end in place. Repeat on the other side and you are done. It couldn’t be easier.
This is one I have heard your guys crying out for, for a while. We have been having some crazy weather and everyone seems busy so we want to make sure that you want your beauty investment to look as fabulous for as long as possible. I totally get you. There is nothing worse that is coming home at the end of a busy to realize your hair extensions have gone to pot. I have put together some tips to make your extensions go that extra distance. Some of them are common sense and some are total life-saving hair hacks so keep reading to check them out.
Use them in the right activities
We want to wear hair extensions out with style, right? So it sounds weird to say there might not be activities that you should wear hair extensions during. If you want to keep your hair extensions looking fresh try not to go swimming with your hair extensions in. it is a great form of exercise but it is awful for your hair and especially your extensions. Chlorine makes them brittle and if they are dyed can alter their colour. If you have clip in extensions don’t wear them to the gym or to sleep either. All the movement and sweat if not very good for your hair extensions. When we wash our own hair we can get right down to the roots to make sure it is fully clean and dried but when washing extensions you have on you cannot be sure. Do the smart thing and avoid where possible.
How to store them
If you are in between re-taping your hair extensions or popping your clip-ins in storing your hair extensions correctly could save you a whole bunch of time. There are a couple of ways you can store them effectively. The first is what you can do is store it like the photo. Get some extension hangers or if you have some trouser hangers laying about they will work perfectly too. If you have clip in hair extensions make sure you avoid the clips. The other way to store your hair extensions well is to use the box they came in. if you want to make sure that they don’t tangle twirl it around your hand and pop it into a hairnet before you place it in the box.
Use the right brush
one of the hardest thing on your hair is brushing them too harshly and with the wrong brush. A major hint is to brush your hair from your ends to your roots to work out the tangles with the least pulling. Using a loop brush and hold your hair extensions underneath the tapes or clips for the best brush. These brushes are super easy to get online and are often made out of rubber. They won’t snag your hair as often and are brilliant at helping your smooth out your hair extensions after styling them, even backcombing.
Follow these tips for longer living hair extensions extensions
Oh my goodness guys, this woman is extraordinary! She started out as a stunning miss world and is now rocking it in the world of Bollywood. Most of us would recognise her even if we haven’t seen her work. What love about her is her pride, not arrogance just to confirm. She is proud to look exactly how she does and you cant tell in what she wears and how she moves. She rocks her curves and she knows how to style herself impeccably. Not only does it make us what to be friends with her but steal her style too. Let’s check it out.
Rock and roll Priyanka
this has a very chic Mick Jagger vibe. Look at her cool glasses and monochrome outfit. It is hard to believe she may just be stepping out for a coffee and a bagel. The thing that really makes this outfit what it is is her hair. If you had straight hair it just would have the same effect. To achieve this perfect lion’s mane tease your roots and add some hair extensions if your hair isn’t thick enough. You will need your heat protecting spray before you grab your curler. Make your curls large and scrunch them with mousse rather than hairspray. Once they are dry run your fingers through them to create your waves.
A Kid like Jake star
She is definitely looking every bit the Hollywood star here. It is so simple but looks incredibly sophisticated, just what you want if you are taking the acting world by storm. Making sure your hair is smooth is essential so you can move it the direction you want and it will obey you. Starting with a side part is a must for this look to get that old Hollywood glamorous style. On your deeper side separate the hair in front of your ear. The rest of your hair can be swept back into a low ponytail and twist it. Folding it up, pin it against your head. The piece de resistance of this style is the curls at the front so spray on some heat protection and whack out your curler. Once you have curled, pin and hairspray them whilst they cool so they retain their Hollywood charm.
Ready to go bun
Working with UNICEF means you don’t have the luxury of spending hours to perfect a fancy looking style. Even when not doing something incredible for humanity it can feel like we are short on time. If you are a busy lady like Priyanka this style is for you. Create a triangle shaped division in the centre at your front hairline. This can be quite thick, in fact, that may help you. Horizontally divide this section in half. The bottom section twist and pin to your head. You won’t see it but it will help you get that height at the front. The top section needs to be teased at the roots a little. Drape this over the twisted section and pin it in place. The rest of your hair can just be put up into a messy bun. Perfect for a day on the go.
