Valid

So we think we have figured one of the key aspects of improving your agencies success.

We have worked with quite a few top agencies up and down the country,
and after 6 to 12 months into our partnership, we get told a similar story from a lot of them.

Whether we are partnered with PR agenciesSEO agencies or Web Development agencies…

The story usually goes something like

“It has been such a load off our shoulders, knowing we have a reliable guest posts provider.

It means we can concentrate on making sales and looking after our clients and not have to worry about link building”.

Number 1 Focus For A Successful Digital Marketing Agency

You see there is a clue in this…

The number 1 thing your agency should focus on is making sales and looking after your clients.

Like we said in the last email we have over 100 business websites that we use for ourselves and our clients to get top rankings in Google.

For example, we just recently ranked Angel Orthodontics number 2 for the search term Orthodontist London using our Guest Post Network.

This search term gets 1900 searches per month, so they are very happy right now.

Which you can see the Google results here

We have lots of case studies we can show you,

So we made a page with some examples and more information about our Guest Posting Results.

So this all leads to the question…

Would you like to post on our Guest Post Network?

We will also give you 1 extra Guest Post on your first order – free of charge.

Simply use the special code GPN when you visit our Guest Post page.

How To Start a Digital Marketing Agency

Now what has been described up to now is all about how to get good backlinks going to your client’s websites that you can rely on to help them improve their rank in Google.

Here comes the chicken and the egg scenario, where it is all well and good to have great backlinks you can use for your clients – but how do you get the clients in the first place?

Well, this is where you should be entirely focused on making sales.

What is recommended is to niche down into either an area like a city or a business type like lawyers or dentists.

Then whatever way you can go get a client in that niche.

You may have to work for a low fee, to begin with, just to get a success story under your belt.

You could also structure the deal so that when you attain certain results like for example get them on the first page of Google, or bring them a certain amount of traffic that your fee goes up.

Businesses are generally more happy to pay you more when they see results.

One of the quickest ways to get a business results is to set up a Google Ads campaign so they are getting qualified traffic going to their website and some of them will become customers.

You can set up a phone number so you can track and record all the calls, then you simply send the business owner the recordings and let them know that you have already sent them customers and you have only just started.

This short term tactic can be used consistently in the background of any major overarching tactic like doing SEO, PR or digital marketing in general.

When you have that success story you can use it as a testimonial that you can send to many other businesses in that niche.

That success story could be after a month of being in partnership with this business using the above tactic.

This is because they can clearly see you have bought them business and their investment is working.

Which means they will be happy to do a video testimonial about how good your services are.

This is powerful because people want to know that you have done this before and that what you are promising can be done for them.

What better way to do this than a video testimonial, where they have one of their peers saying how great of a job you have done.

Now what I would recommend is to stick to one niche and master that niche because you will find the same issues come up over and over again.

But because you have already dealt with similar issues you will be able to quickly figure out a solution.

Business owners love it when you can describe to them a problem they are having better than they can describe it themselves.

It inspires confidence in your ability and skills. It also assumes that you know how to fix it.

Add this to the recordings of phone calls and you have a client who will be sticking with you for the 6 months or so it will take for your main strategy to start to take hold.

A couple of useful tools you may want to have a look at is Convert Kit which is an email tool so you can automatically send emails to a list of businesses you have got. A similar tool which is also good for this is Buzzstream.

This cuts down a lot of the manual work and makes a little bit easier to do a lot of prospecting in a personal and non-spammy way.

Until next time

Blogging is a popular option for students. It gets your voice out there, and you do it all from the comfort of your own home… or wherever you happen to be at the time!

However, making money from a blog can be a complex business. You must have the right content, plus a substantial amount of followers to seriously monetize what you post.

This naturally doesn’t apply to everyone, and if you’re just getting started writing a blog there are plenty of resources out there to help you with your online journey.

If you want to cash in from your blog, you need to know where to start. We’ll take you through 5 steps, giving you the lowdown on monetizing those internet outpourings…

  1. Affiliate to accumulate

Affiliate marketing is a good place to start for the curious blogger. Why is this? Because it’s straightforward and potentially connects you to major players quickly.

How does it work? It starts by finding the right brand to fit your voice. Visit a site such as Affiliate Window, a handy platform that joins all the dots and gets you on your way.

You then offer your honest opinions on various products and services via your blog. In these posts include links to what you’re talking about, which take readers to specific sites.

Companies then reward you for directing traffic to them. If you have a flair for marketing and are not afraid to be honest, then this could be a great choice for you.

  1. Banners for bucks

Whatever the content of your blog, you should be able to think of adverts to go with it. For example, if all you do is take selfies all day, what about ads for selfie sticks?

Have you thought about this? By having banner adverts on your site, you can generate a small income by prominently displaying products and services.

Whether you choose the option of Cost Per Click (CPC) or Cost per thousand hits (known as CPM), it may add up to a nice little earner, with minimum effort.

As with all blogs, having a sufficient number of followers is important. So if you don’t see decent figures for folk visiting your site, you should work on boosting clicks first.

  1. Sponsored talk

Maybe you have a smaller site with a dedicated following. If that’s the case, and you want a more creative way of monetizing content, then what about sponsorship…?

Here’s what happens. You could approach (or be approached by) companies looking to promote their wares via a blog article. They should pay you for this.

Instead of sitting there while ads squat on your page, or being like an online salesman, you’re doing what you do best -writing blogs – and getting someone’s message out there.

These posts are called “advertorials”, i.e. a cross between an ad and an editorial. They aren’t always popular but are worth a go if you’re testing the financial water.

  1. Be their guest

A more specialized route to monetization involves using your attention-grabbing blog to guest post with a company. If firms like what they see, they might get in touch.

Get your clicks this way. For instance, should you be getting good results from a budgeting blog, a media outlet could ask you to send them money-saving ideas.

As a guest poster, you may attract new readers to your site and ramp up those numbers. It should also give you a lift that companies have confidence in your style!

This applies if you have a reasonably successful blog, plus credentials as a go-to source of info on a chosen subject. So if you don’t, then you have work to do!

  1. Self help

For many people, a blog is where they talk about their lives. Be it promoting a business, or informing people about a lifestyle, it’s typically all about you.

Here’s the thing. While that can sound self-absorbed, you know it also makes for great self-promotion. And that can really pay off in terms of a future career.

Writing blogs well is a great skill to have in terms of communicating ideas. You never know if someone influential is reading your output, and sees you as a talent to watch.

So work on the perfect blog by all means. But also be aware that it’s more than just words and pictures on a screen. It can act as a vital step toward further opportunities.

This article is an On page SEO Optimisation Checklist – all the most important factors that we as an agency come across time and time again. Get these things right and you will be ahead of your competition.

You may have heard the phrase ‘content is king’, and it is quite true.

Good content on your website will

  1. Help Google understand what your website is about
  2. Help users to find the answers they are looking for on your website
  3. Flow nicely so they stay on your website longer
  4. Get people to become a prospect or a customer

So this is why content is king – it is the foundation of any good website on the internet.

The Best Onpage SEO Tools

As you can see from the image below ClickDo have the best content rating for the search term SEO Consultant – according to our content analysis tool Cognitive SEO.

You can also see that as a general rule the better the content the higher the website ranks for that search term.

If you look at the content rating for the top websites for this keyword you can see higher quality content gets ranked higher and lower quality content gets ranked lower.

Good content will help with dwell time which is how long someone stays on your website. Google uses dwell time to figure out if your website is good or not. So you want to make your website have lots of interesting aspects to it.

For more on this read our article on dwell time.

Of course, there is a multitude of other factors involved like how many good quality backlinks are going to the website, how old it is, the user experience and many more factors.

There is also technical onpage optimisation which is things like page speed, and error fixing and just generally getting your website in line with Google’s standard practice rules for websites.

When it comes to technical onpage SEO you want to make sure you have the following sorted out

  • Make sure you have Image ALT tags
  • Make sure your images are 50kb’s or less
  • Make sure you have meta titles and meta descriptions on each of your pages
  • Make sure you have your site set as HTTPS
  • Make sure you have no 404 errors and you redirect old pages using a 301 redirect to your new pages
  • Make sure you have at least one H1 and H2 title for each page (and only one H1 per page)
  • Make sure you have your keywords in your titles and your content

The way to check these is with a great tool called Screaming Frog, simply put your website in and it will tell you what issues you have to fix from the list above.

You will also need a plugin to add your meta titles and meta descriptions to each page which a couple of good ones are
All in One SEO and SEO Press.

Onpage optimisation is the foundation for any good SEO campaign and will help you rank higher in the search results.

Page Speed Load Time Optimisation

One of the most common issues we find with most websites is that their website loads really slowly, or at not as fast as it could be loading.

You have to imagine the guy at the bus stop on his mobile 4G internet.

If you have a slow loading website and it take 10 seconds to load a page, will that guy at the bus stop stay on your website or will he go back to Google and go to your competitor?

This is why having a quick load time is important.

You can check how fast your website is at GT Metrix.

It will show you why your page is loading slow and what you can do about it.

For example below is an image of the number 1 lawyers in London

As you can see they have a slow website and they are getting bad ratings on their performance scores.

This company ranks number 1 on Google for London lawyers, so page speed isn’t the be all and end all when it comes to ranking on Google.

But from a user experience perspective it is quite important.

Slater Gordon Lawyers could do with having a look at improving their page speed.

A few good tips to improve your pagespeed

  1. Get a cache plugin for your WordPress website like W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache
  2. Reduce the size of your images (images should be 50kb’s in size or less) with Reduce Images or Image Resize
  3. Reduce the amount of embeds like videos and maps on your pages
  4. Sign up for a Content Delivery Network (CDN) like Stackpath or Amazon
  5. Get premium hosting on a fast hosting service like Siteground or Seekahost

There are lots of little technical things we could go into but just doing these 3 will put you in a better position page speed wise than your competition.

Schema Markup Onpage Optimisation

So the last most common issue we find with websites is that it has no Schema markup.

Schema markup is a language that Google reads and it is basically its native language.

So if you have Schema Markup on your website you are basically talking to Google in the language it likes to have a conversation in.

If you are one of the few people in a crowd of people who are speaking Google’s native language

Do you think you will have a higher chance of being noticed and get more priority in the search rankings?

The answer is a sort of yes.

It is just one factor of hundreds of factors that Google takes into consideration when ranking websites.

But you can be sure that Google will appreciate you taking the time and the effort to communicate in the language they prefer most.

If according to Google your website and your competition’s website was equal in everything that it takes into consideration, but you have Schema Markup on your website.

Then Google will put you above your competition in the search engine results.

So think of Schema Markup as the cherry on the cake.

Once you have done everything else right, it is good to add Schema to your website.

If you want to do it yourself you can go to a Schema Markup Generator Website and simply fill out your details.

You want Local Business Schema, Website Schema, and Organisation Schema.

You then need to put the Schema codes that it gives you onto your website.

Which you do that by adding it into the head section of your website.

To add it to the head section simply go to Appearance then your Theme Editor

Then find the Theme Header on the right hand side.

Then find the place where </head> is and paste your Schema code above there.

So this is how you do Local Business Schema, Organisation Schema, and Website Schema.

However, you can also add Schema on particular pages

For example, you may have a contact us page – so you can add Contact Us Page Schema.

Or you may have some products or reviews so you can have Product Schema or Review Schema on your page.

To add unique Schema to particular page download a WordPress plugin by typing in ‘SOGO header’ like in the image below.

Then simply go to that plugin and add the code from the Schema Markup Generator and your done.

You need to go to the page you want to add Schema Markup to, then scroll to the bottom of the page to underneath where you write your content.

That is where you will find the add script to the header of the page box.

This is great when you want to add unique Schema to a page for that particular page.

If you would like us to take care of your Schema Markup so you can concentrate on doing what you do best – which is running your business. Then will happily do that for you.

First off before you begin your social media marketing you want to make sure you have created your social properties.

This includes Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram and Pinterest.

You also want to create your Web 2.0 profiles.

This includes Blogger, Tumblr, WordPress and Weebly.

Make them look nice and then you are ready to start sending content to these branded properties.

Social Media Marketing Strategy

So now you have created your social profiles like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin – how do you get good content to post on them on a regular basis?

Well, there is a simple answer which is to use Buffer and Quuu.

They work together, sign up for both and link them together which can be easily done with a few clicks.

Then go on Quuu and simply type in your business niche.

What this will do is find great posts that will automatically be sent to your social media profiles up to 6 times per day.

Job done – you now have daily posts going to your social media profiles.

This is the foundation of your social media marketing strategy because you will have good relevant content being sent to your social media profiles every day.

This means if a customer was to look on your social media profiles, they will see an active profile.

A lot of businesses make the mistake of only posting self promotional social media posts.

When a customer goes to their social media page and all they see is promotional posts, it doesn’t look good.

But if they see you post all this interesting content and you have maybe 1 out of 10 posts that are promotional, then this will make a better impression.

By sending content to your social media it will help power them up, and over time your website will get powered up too.

More Content For Social Media Marketing

The second part to this is you want to send your blog posts out to your social profiles like Facebook and your Web 2.0’s like Tumblr and Weebly

First of all to find great topics to blog about, you can type in Google “your niche” blog. Then look through their blogs and find good articles that you can create a similar type of article.

.

Or you can go to Buzzsumo and type in your niche, then find good blogs that have received likes, shares and links. Then again take influence from it and create your own version.

Once you have created your blog (but before you post it to your website) you want to set up your blogs to be sent out to your social media and Web 2.0 properties.

You do this by signing up for IFTTT and typing in RSS to (insert social / Web 2.0 property).

To get your RSS feed URL that you need to put in, you simply put in this https://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/feed/

You want to do this for all your social and Web 2.0 websites.

Once you are done you can post your latest blog and it will be sent out to your branded properties across the internet.

Now you have content that is automatically sent out to all your social and Web 2.0 websites whenever you create a new blog post.

This will build your brand across the internet and over time help you rank higher in Google.

This content is the foundation of any good social media marketing strategy.

One of the most fundamental aspects of your search engine optimisation strategy should be Web 2.0’s.

These are websites across the internet that you can get a branded page to put your content on.

3 Reasons Why Web 2.0’s Websites Work

The first reason they work so well is that they have a high Domain Authority which means they are powerful and they are trusted by Google.

The second reason they work is that you can link to all your other branded websites across the internet, which includes your other Web 2.0’s and social media properties.

As the Web 2.0’s have high domain authority it will power up your other branded properties which will then power up your website, which means you will rank higher in Google.

The third reason they work so well is that you can send your content to these sites and get a backlink from them.

So when you write your latest blog post it will be sent out to these sites.

Popular Web 2.0 sites include Blogger Tumblr

WordPress Weebly

A great thing to do. is to add a link to a page on the website you want to rank, as this link will be on your blog post and when you send it to the Web 2.0’s it will be on there too.

So this gets you a decent link to your website every time you post a new blog post.

So it is important to write new blog posts on a regular basis and it is important to send them out to your Web 2.0’s.

This will give you an SEO competitive advantage over your competition who are not doing this.

International SEO best practices are not something we used to talk much as a local SEO services provider in the UK.  When more and more local business owners wanted to know more about taking their business to international territories, we decided to cover the best SEO practices to successfully adapt your strategies for internationally optimised sites.

With the advent of the internet, the world has become one big global village. As a business owner, you can target and reach a global audience right from the comfort of your office or living room. However, you will need a different set of SEO tactics to optimise the site and make it get ranked to the top.

Usually, you will need to pay closer attention to your URL structure and the backlinks you’ll pick. Search Engines use a different set of factors when ranking an international business site. These factors include;

  • Content optimisation concerning language and region
  • URL optimisation (language and region)
  • Your business name, contacts, address (NAP)
  • Local links (country specific domains) ccTLDs

When structuring your site’s URL, we use what’s known as Hreflang tags. According to Wikipedia;

Hreflang specifies the language and arbitrary geographic restrictions for a document. Hreflang is interpreted by search engines and can be used by webmasters to clarify the lingual and geographical targeting of a website.

You’ll need to have a professional and skilled SEO practitioner to alternate the implementation of hreflang tags properly. Otherwise, one mistake may ruin all the efforts put in place. Content and keyword cannibalisation are the most common hitches that happen when the search engines suspect a site of duplication.

Mostly, there are three types of domain structure for anyone looking to set up an international domain;
  1. Country subdirectory; if you are using domain.com as your primary domain, you will need to add extra folders to target users speaking a different language, or located in a different geographical location. For instance domain.com/French (for French speakers) and domain.com/uk (for UK users). The extra folder is known as a subdirectory and can use .org,  .com, .net, etc
  2. Country sub-domain; after getting it right with the subdirectory, you have to make the search engines understand the location you’re targeting.  The URL structuring will give you the option to indicate the targeted location like es.domain.com if you’re targeting a Spanish speaking area.  Uk.domain.com is for UK targets, and so on. Again, you’ll need to get a skilled web developer to help integrate these subdomains so that the relevant content appears next to the chosen URL.
  3. Country code top-level domain (ccTLD) vs gTLD; while some domains like .com, .net will cost you less, others will cost over a thousand pounds, and you must be located within the country you’re targeting. This requirement is a tricky one, one that confuses most SEO practitioners looking for international ranking and indexing.
  • You can translate the same content into multiple languages and have it all linked to your main site. Google will not flag such for duplicate content. If you have two pages with the same material, different languages; Google will rank both at the top.
  • Make use of multilingual mega tags so that Google indexes you in the proper context during a search. In local site optimisation, keywords and headers matter most.
  • But for international sites, multilingual SEO tags are the Holy Grail you can’t do without. The meta tag has to resemble the country you’re targeting, and language spoken.
  • If for instance, your subdomain is uk.domain.com, possible meta tags to add would look something like <html lang=”es-UK>. This would designate your site as for English speakers

Localising your content; as an international brand, you can gain a lot by restricting your content by language, and region. This localising is done not just on the content, but also on headers, image descriptions, Meta tags, and the other onsite requirements on a landing page.

Don’t rely on automatic translation; take time to rewrite the content in the language of users you’re targeting.  Try and embrace the local culture and practices as much as possible when localising your content; different regions have different preferences for images, colours used, and so on.

In summary;
  • Optimising your site is the first step towards projecting your brand to a global audience.
  • You’re able to compete beyond your local geographical boundaries and reach a broader target market.
  • Here at ClickDo, we pride ourselves on using the best SEO practices to help businesses expand their reach. We’ll help you get top ranking not just in the UK, but also abroad and internationally.
  • Our team of web developers and coders are conversant with all the effective SEO tactics. We are here to make your brand go international.
