The Aesthetics: The royal purple base is defiantly eye-catching with its strong contrast against the amber cannabis oil inside. The glass chamber is filled to the brim with delicious grape flavored oil. The compact design allows for easy storage and use. I took a normal pull and got a cloud of grape scented vapor.
The Flavor: The bright flavor of the oil was almost immediate with the first hit. It tastes fresh, vibrant and not too candy like. I was afraid that the flavor would be overbearing however it added an element to a vape pen I didn’t even know I wanted. The grape flavor made the pen extremely easy to enjoy and left my mouth feeling cool and tingly.
The Effects: This pen was great for day activities. I tried it on a day where I was doing causal painting. It kept me energized and creative for the entire session. While the body effects were minimal it allowed me to stay very active and didn’t
The Aesthetics: This sleek silver pen is a good size and has a heavy weight to it. It feels very sturdy and high quality. The chamber is made from thick glass which encases a large serving of live resin. Its simple design allows you to pull without the use of a button.
The Flavor: One of the most striking things about this pen is the smoothness and flavor of the resin. Pens have a tendency to make me cough, however this one hit like a dream. The fragrant citrus taste is one of the most flavorful that I have tried.
The Effects: The hybrid formula delivered a great mixture of head and body effects. It was both energizing to my mind but relaxing my body. The best part was how little it took to get me to the perfect feeling. After about two pulls I was almost instantly feeling the effects. This made it easy to consume the right amount and not over-do it.
Next time you are glancing at the shelf, don’t stray away when you lock eyes with products by Altus.
Your relationship with cannabis is highly personal and deeply profound…That’s why there’s an Altus product for your life’s every moment. See what we mean.
Fruit Flavors Like No Other
When it comes to flavor, Altus gummies give you the experience of feeling like you are eating the actual fruit. With Altus pureeing the fruit before making the gummies the flavors are incredible. I recently picked up the Altus Indica Pear gummies and they were delicious and the high from them was no joke. It was a combo of a nice body and mental high. I was so relaxed after 30 minutes and didn’t want to do a thing. Next time you have the opportunity to pick up Altus gummies don’t pass them up. Give them a shot and see what you think, they might surprise you.
Cannabis in Pill Form
This is obviously not for everyone but a great alternative for someone who might want to take one with your everyday vitamins/supplements. They offer a variety of options which vary in amounts of THC and CBD which will ultimately come down to personal preference. My favorite is the 5:1 (25mg CBD/5mg THC) because the body high from the CBD is significantly more than the mental high from the THC. It’s my go-to when I’m in pain and having a hard time sleeping.
Many Options to Choose From
While there are many types of edible products on the market, don’t pass up the opportunity to try something new. So next time you’re in the dispensary talk to your budtender about Altus and what options are available because Altus has a wide variety of offerings with their gummy and pill line. There is surely something for anyone who enjoys cannabis edibles.
Dadirri may be new to the market but their caviar and bubble hash cones set the stage for a product that’s here to stay.
BUBBLE HASH ATTACK
When it comes to Bubble Hash, I’m rather new to the game so I had no expectations on what I was going to get out of it. First thing I noticed after taking the first inhale was a whole lot of flavor which can be hit and miss when it comes to pre-rolls. The burn was nice and steady, and you had time in-between each inhales to let it sit and not worry about it burning out. I started to feel the effects probably 5-10 minutes after putting it out and it was a nice mellow high and sustained me for a little over an hour which is nice because I didn’t want to be high all night. Definitely a great product for a quick mellow high and packs plenty of flavors.
NOT YOUR TYPICAL CAVIAR
So, when I think caviar, I think of fancy people food but this kind of caviar we are looking at is stuff I can get on board with. Dadirri’s Caviar is top notch and hits you like a freight train (I mean that in the best way possible). I decided to pick up the indica version of Dadirri’s caviar because I have trouble sleeping sometimes and it did not disappoint. Incredible flavor and burned nicely like the bubble hash pre-roll. While this does carry a heavier price tag then the bubble hash it’s worth the extra. The high was a melt in your seat kind of high and stays true to the indica name. Dadirri’s caviar is probably the best caviar I have tried yet so if you’re looking to give this a try, these 1g caviar pre-rolls are a great choice.
MORE THAN JUST CONES
If you’re not a fan of pre-rolls but want to give Dadirri a try, check out their CBD Elixir that we carry here at Choice. It is a 1,000mg CBD Elixir with 10mg of THC. Made with REAL cherry juice and no artificial flavoring or sugars. This product was developed with the health-conscious consumer who would rather feel the healing benefits of CBD rather than the “psychoactive” effects of THC. Full of antioxidants and polyphenols.
Everything that touches your lips should taste this beautiful. Evolab Colors delivers a flavorful experience you have to try.
Once a Skeptic, Now a Believer
I’ll be honest, I was skeptical when it came to what I was going to get out of the Evolab Colors line because of the fruity nature but after having the opportunity to enjoy the Strawberry Lemonade cartridge, I am no longer a skeptic. The flavor didn’t taste artificial at all and it was like I was enjoying a strawberry lemonade candy which then came with a nice steady high. These cartridges are not messing around either, because the THC content is 83% which after a few deep inhales I was where I wanted to be.
I would highly recommend this product to someone who may not like the traditional flavors of cannabis cartridges but enjoys fruity flavors. It still gives you that high you are looking for but with that nice sweet fruity finish.
Blueberry, Tropical Fruit, Oh My!
With four different flavors (Blueberry, Tropical Fruit, Sweet Melon, and Strawberry Lemonade) to choose from, there is surely something will fit your fruity cravings. It’s impressive how Evolab is able to deliver these flavors and not have that artificial flavor that you get with a lot of other products that say they are “fruity.”
More Than Colors
If you are not a fan of fruity flavors but want to explore Evolab products more, they have other products to choose from. Below is a list of other products you can find at Choice by Evolabs:
Evolab Chroma Dab Syringe
Evolab Balance Disposable Pens (Available in Hybrid, Sativa, and Indica)
Willie’s Reserve continues to deliver a product that stands out from the rest.
If you are looking for a variety of Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid strains don’t skip the Willie’s Reserve High Five Packs. With five pre-rolled joints ready to be enjoyed, this is a no-brainer for consumers who want convenience and quality.
A Standout Pre-Roll
These whole-flower, no trim, half-gram joints are full of flavor and will appease anyone who enjoys this classic cannabis consumption method. With rotating strains in all varieties, there is surely something for everyone. Plus, it comes in this sweet collectible tin.
Why I Love This Product
If you are like me, joint rolling does not come easy and with Willie’s Reserve High Five Pack already pre-rolled, it’s nice to be able to open the tin and light up. Another plus I have found with the WR High Five Packs is the actual tin it comes in. I’m an avid hiker and sometimes you run into a situation where you might get a little wet from the weather. This tin protects your joints from the elements, which is great for later when you want to enjoy a nice joint by the fire.
What Strains You Can Expect
Some of the strains you will be able to enjoy when it comes to the Willie’s Reserve High Five Packs are strains like Blue Dream, Sour Diesel, Grape Stomper, California Orange, Wedding Cake, Witches Weed, Extreme Cream, and more. The variety is fantastic and it’s always nice to switch it up and try something new.
The Willie’s Reserve Brand
When it comes to cannabis products, Willie’s Reserve brand does not disappoint. It will be exciting to see how this brand evolves as cannabis becomes legal in more states and I look forward to seeing what future plans the Willie’s Reserve brand has in store. So the next time you make a visit to the dispensary pick yourself up a Willie’s Reserve product, you will not be disappointed.
While most cannabis fans are careful to consume only as much as they intend, sometimes overindulgence happens by mistake. Different strains might affect you differently despite similar potencies, and if you’re used to smoking but try edibles (or vice versa), the effects can come on too strong, or last too long. And whether you’re an aficionado or brand new to cannabis, overindulging is no fun. It can include paranoia, extreme short-term memory loss, uncomfortable cotton mouth, or just makes it difficult to go about your day normally. Here are some tips for dealing — or helping a friend cope — with that feeling.
Panic is the type of emotion that can really tip an experience from borderline to bad and from bad to worse. So as difficult as it can be, try not to let yourself panic. If you find you’re spiraling with worry, take a few deep breaths and remind yourself that the experience will pass — usually within minutes or a few hours at maximum.
Sipping on water or another favorite non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic beverage can be a pleasant distraction and temporarily relieve cottonmouth. Plus, it’ll keep you hydrated, which is key for feeling well at all times.
Take a walk (but probably not a hike)
If you’re feeling fidgety, try taking a short walk. If you can do it with a friend, even better. The movement will get your blood flowing, a change of scenery can distract that racing brain, and you might find that once you’re mobile, you don’t feel too bad after all. But, remember, even if you’re feeling better, stay close to home and stay safe.
Take a bath or shower
Some people find that taking a bath or shower can help them feel better. The familiar activity can be calming and the water rejuvenating. But make sure you’ve got someone else around in case you start to feel woozy from the high. Safety is always important.
Find something to do
Sometimes overindulging means your mind is racing but you just don’t have the physical energy to take a walk or move about. That doesn’t mean you can’t distract yourself. Stream your favorite TV show, turn on some tunes, or snuggle with your significant other. The key is choosing a mellow, comforting activity that will give you some positive feelings to focus on while you wait for the high to pass.
Try to nap
Sometimes, the worst part of overindulging is being unable to concentrate or motivate enough to do anything, even those fun distractions we recommended above. If that’s the case, don’t fret. Instead, let your body rest it out. Sleep is a great way to get through it, so grab a glass of water and your favorite blanket, find a comfy spot to lie down, and try to take a nap. And if sleep just won’t come, try to enjoy the extreme relaxation.
Your favorite dispensary’s shelves are probably lined with jars of cannabis. Get closer to the display and you may find that the buds look and smell different and the containers are carefully labeled as sativa, indica, or hybrid. These are the three main classifications for recreational cannabis, and each one has its trademark traits and reputation. Knowing how the varieties differ will help you choose the right one for your everyday preferences or for special occasions. It might even inspire you to try something new!
Here’s a mini-guide (see below) and a video that breaks down what makes each cannabis classification unique.
Sativa has long had a reputation as the “upper” strain. That’s because many users find the experience to be invigorating and uplifting, effects that pair well with physical activity, social events, and creative projects.
With their tall stature and narrow leaves, sativa plants are best suited to warm climates where their lengthy flowering cycles can thrive.
Indica strains are frequently seen as sedating or relaxing, and a lot of users find them more appropriate for kicking back at home than heading to a party. Some indica fans even say they get relief from insomnia.
Compared to sativa strains, indica plants come from colder environments with short growing seasons. They are shorter and their leaves are broader.
Hybrid cannabis plants have both indica and sativa parents, so they often have a mix of effects. Depending on the dominant strain, each one is unique, so your bud-tender is a great resource for deciding which to try.
All these traits are a great place to start, but before you shop, keep in mind that everybody experiences cannabis differently. While these reputations exist for a reason, recent research is showing that there aren’t any hard-and-fast rules governing their chemical composition or effects. So, if you already know that you consistently enjoy one category over the others, stick with your winning strategy. But, don’t be surprised if you just adore one particular strain even though you’re not a fan of other indicas, for example. And if you’re prone to anxiety, don’t write off sativa altogether — just try one with a lower THC content.
The real trick is to pay attention to how your body reacts to specific strains and their particular cannabinoid contents and to take advantage of your budtender’s expert knowledge of the products the dispensary carries.
Edible cannabis products are labeled like packaged foods, but instead of listing calories, labels for weed-infused food and drink list the respective milligrams of THC and CBD. And take note, that number is per serving, and usually, a serving is not the whole package or even a substantial portion of it.
Usually, you’ll find that the standard recreational dose of 10 mg of THC is contained in a single serving of an edible.
Regardless of how often you use cannabis, it’s important to know your tolerance so you have a good time and avoid getting too high. Most edible companies recommend trying a half-dose — so, 5 mg — or less for the first time. That will let you comfortably get a sense for how edibles affect you.
Unlike smoking, eating cannabis will not get you immediately high. So, start slowly. Wait at least 30 minutes to 2 hours for your first dose to kick in. If you still don’t feel anything at that point, go ahead and try the second half. But, again, give it time to take effect. As tempting as it may be, don’t start snacking on your edibles because you don’t feel the effects right off the bat. That could be the start of an unwanted wild ride.
Especially when you’re new to edibles, avoid consuming them on an empty stomach. If you do, you’re likely to feel the effects more than you intended. Instead, try eating a light meal first, then enjoy your edible in place of dessert.
To help ensure your experience is as enjoyable as possible, spend some time setting yourself — mentally, socially, and physically. This is especially important if you’re not experienced with cannabis edibles, but it’s worth keeping in mind every time you use. Make sure your head is already in a good place, surround yourself with people you trust, and find a comfortable, safe location.
Used thoughtfully, edibles can be a very relaxing and fun way to get high, so get ready to kick back and enjoy the ride. If you accidentally consumed more cannabis than intended or got too high and don’t like it, that can be scary. But letting your mind spiral won’t help. Instead, do your best to stay calm, drink some water, and remember that the feeling will pass.
Before legalization, cannabis aficionados may have had preferred strains and modes of use. But in today’s recreational market, dispensaries carry hundreds of products that are accessible to connoisseurs and rookies alike. So, whether you’ve been smoking since the 70’s or are trying it for the first time, the modern cannabis market can be downright overwhelming.
Fortunately, that’s what budtenders are for. These behind-the-counter guides know their products, and they’re here to help customers sift through the flower, edibles, lotions and bath bombs on their shelves. But to make sure you find your perfect cannabis product, you’ll need to help them help you! So, ask yourself these four questions and head to your favorite dispensary.
Before you can start talking products, you (and your budtender) need to know what you’re hoping to get out of your new cannabis product. Do you just want to get high or are you looking for relaxation? Chat with your budtender about the different compounds and how they’ll affect you. And keep in mind, everybody is different, so the specific effects vary from one person to the next.
How do you want to consume your cannabis?
Gone are the days of choosing between smoking flower and eating brownies. Sure, buds and edibles are still a big part of the market, but it’s not that simple anymore. If you like to toke, you’ll get to pick strains. And if you’d rather munch, you can select from candies, pre-made pastries, and infused oils to add to your meals. What’s more, there’s a wide range of tinctures, patches, and topical products to explore.
What’s your tolerance level?
Knowing your body and your preferences is also important for finding the right product. If you’re an experienced user, you might be able to try some of the stronger products on the market. Newer users will probably want to stick with options that are less potent. In addition to varying potency, products are made from different strains and have diverse levels of various cannabinoids. So, let your budtender know if you already have a favorite strain or if there’s something you just didn’t like.
How long do you want to feel the effects?
This question is easy to overlook, but it’s essential to enjoying your cannabis experience. Do you want a high that hits fast but disappears in a short time? Or would you prefer a product that takes a bit longer to kick in but will last for hours? While the general rule of thumb is that edibles last much longer than smoked cannabis, your budtender can use this information to help you choose between specific products.
Although these questions seem simple, your budtender will pool all the information to help you find a product you’re happy with. So, don’t be shy. Next time you visit your favorite dispensary, strike up a conversation and ask away!
