Taking out the trash daily will help to eliminate nasty smells. Keep your kitchen sink free of dirty dishes. I’ve noticed that if we have something like Caesar salad for dinner or tacos, the house picks up the smell. As soon as you’re done eating rinse and load the dishwasher or wash the dishes by hand.   Vacuuming regularly will help decrease the smells in your house. Dirt and dust get trapped in your carpets which can then start to smell. If you have pets in the house, you may need to vacuum every day like I do.   You might also like: How To Love Being A Homemaker Clean your vacuum filter regularly. There is nothing that dates a home faster than an old fashioned kitchen. The problem is that with home decor trend changing so quick, how can you possibly keep on top of them without spending a fortune, and your kitchen continuously being in a state of renovation? Well, there is a way, and in the post below, you can find out some of the key tactics you can use to achieve this. Read on to discover what they are. This post may contain affiliate links. If you purchase something through these links I may be compensated at no cost to you.     The walls and floor First of all, when it comes to keeping your kitchen on trend, it’s essential to start with a neutral foundation. What this means is that no matter how much you want to go for high-fashion, bright and bold colors when it comes to your walls and floors, you need to resist.     This is because color trends are the fastest way of dating a room, and if you don’t happen to have the hues that are most popular this season, everyone will be able to tell. Instead, it can be a much smarter choice to go for white paint instead on the walls. This is because white doesn’t not only reflect back light and create a pleasant environment, but it is neutral, looks clean, is easy to repaint, and is cheap as well. Of course, when it comes to the floor, white isn’t quite such a smart choice. After all, the kitchen floors get a lot of wear and tear. Instead, a darker color in either hardwood, laminate, stone, or linoleum are the best choices, depending on your budget. The reason being that you can choose a neutral tone that will work well with the white and should allow you to add other on-trend details without creating an overwhelming space. Cabinets and counter tops One of the most essential things in any kitchen is the counter tops. Of course, as these tend to be built-in, replacing them as trends change isn’t very cost effective. Just the labor of pulling out an old fitted kitchen and replacing it with a new one can be prohibitive, not to mention the cost of new units! Luckily, there are some strategies that can help you refresh your kitchen space without breaking the bank. One is to use repaint the cabinet doors to give them a new look. Although, it is worth noting that doing this often sounds easier than it is. To get a flawless, professional finish, many people opt to use a kitchen cabinet refinishing service for this task. The reason being that they have all the expertise and equipment to make your refinished door look like new ones, instead of ones that you have gone to town on with a paintbrush! You might also like: Must Have Cleaning Products For Spring   Lighting What so many people forget is that the way you use lighting in your kitchen can change the entire look of the room. If you pick the right lighting fixtures, it can really help you to stay on trend as well. In particular, long units of hanging lights over the space where you eat are popular at the moment. Alternatively, you may want to use individual pendant lamps set over the counter top where you work most often, as these can not only provide the practical advances of more light but also look fantastic as well. Appliances When it comes to kitchen appliances, keeping up with trends can be tough. After all, they tend to be relativity expensive, and you will want to get the maximum amount of use from them as possible before you throw them away and get new ones.     To this end, it’s smarter to go for white good and small appliances that prioritize energy efficiency and quality instead of style. In fact, by doing this, you will be keeping up with the environmentalism trend, as well as be saving yourself money over the long term. The cost of the energy that you use and the amount you will have to pay in replacing them when they finally no longer work will be worth it. Of course, the great thing about appliances is that for the most part, you can have them built into your kitchen, which means it doesn’t matter what they look like. As long as the cabinets they are contained in are on trend, you don’t need to worry about their aesthetics at all.     You might also like: How To Keep Your Kitchen Tidy   Fabrics A simple way of updating your kitchen space, and keeping it in trend is by carefully choosing the fabrics you display. One area in which this can be particularly constructive are the windows and the blinds or curtains you use to cover them. Of course, if you don’t want to spend a fortune on buying the latest designs, you can always have a go at making them yourself. Something you can get some detailed instruction on in the video below.     If you don’t quite feel up to creating curtains or blind, you can still get busy with some DIY sewing and create dishcloths and towels from fabric with this season’s latest patterns and designs. This being something that can be a great deal more simple, but still, give you that on-trend look.     Decorative touches   Finally, when it comes to keeping your kitchen on trend without spending a fortune, remember that a few decorative touches can go a long way. Of course, you can go to cheaper stores like Walmart and target to get smaller detective items like ornaments, mugs, and coffee and tea containers that are suitable for your kitchen. However, if you really want to save big, investing in decorations that allow you to change them, but can still be used again and again, like this letter board is a great start.     You can even up-cycle some old decorations from other rooms in your home or even the Goodwill store by spraying them a single color with a can of paint. Then you will have some fabulous accent pieces in this season’s latest colors with which to decorate your kitchen.     Written by: Devon

If you’re a budding writer but have never found time to put your pen to paper, then maybe now is the time to start thinking about how you might turn those ambitions into a career. While there are bloggers across the internet, if you’ve got a niche and somewhere your writing will fit nicely into, then why not give it a try?   This post may contain affiliate links. If you purchase something through these links I may be compensated at no cost to you.   Blogs Are Fun…Moreover, Profitable   At least they can be. Blogging has been such a blessing to me. I’m able to be creative, help others and help support my family financially. The first thing you’ll want to do is decide on you’re blog niche, what will you write about? After you’ve chosen your niche you’ll need to choose your domain name. This is the web address that your followers will type in to get to your blog. I would suggest choosing something that is easy to remember and type in. For example, my domain name is armywifewithdaughters.com. You can register your domain name and get started here. I would highly recommend SiteGround for your hosting. If you plan on making money from your blog you’ll want to be self-hosted and SiteGround is the best in my opinion.   You’ll have to do your research and note all the things that make your favorite bloggers stand out. One of the main things will probably be a great looking, easy to navigate website, rich with images and full of information, without feeling too busy or overwhelming.   Once you’ve settled on a theme, you can start creating your brand whether you try that on your own or call in the professionals like https://www.templafy.com/corporate-rebranding-process/.   Don’t scrimp on this part, if you’re going to spend money on anything, do it on creating your website and your brand for maximum effect. You might also like: How To Start A Mom Blog     Get Creative   You’ll want to make sure your homepage spells out exactly who you are what you’re writing about and feature a link to at least one of your latest blog posts, or several of the most recent ones. Get a professional to show you how to update your blog if you’re unsure. In terms of writing, you’re looking to create something that readers can relate to and engage with. You need to think about how your writing style might need to adapt to a more general audience in terms of readability. Use a tool like Grammarly to help you get this right. In general, though, you’re looking at sentences of no more than 20 to 25 words, though go higher if you need to make a sentence work. Just be sure to keep the volume of these longer sentences much lower. Break up your text using subheadings and relevant images that will help tell your story and create a good flow to the piece. In terms of length, anything over 500 and below 2,000 words is fine, and if you’re writing daily, then 500 words is more manageable for both you as a writer and your audience.   Check out these basic blogging skills all blogger need.   Remember to update your site regularly and if you have switched your comments on, then replying is a great way to engage with the reader and attract more.     Keep an eye on your analytics, which blog posts have attracted more hits and which fell wide of the mark. Work towards finding and writing on subjects that your readers find interesting and want to read.   This is in partnership with Gillette’s new SkinGuard razor – new at Walmart today.   When your spouse is getting ready to return from a deployment, it seems like there are million things to do. Despite those million things you have to do, the excitement is overwhelming. My family and I have been through five deployments, none of them shorter than nine months. One thing I’ve learned from those deployments is that it isn’t just about getting the house ready for your spouse’s return—making sure you have all the items your spouse will want and need when they return is also important. They’ve spent the last few months away from home, and in most cases in constant work mode. My husband has told me so many times that one of the most annoying things about being deployed is the need to shave every day. I can understand that! Let’s get honest when your spouse is deployed how often do you shave? Here are three tips for preparing for your spouse’s return from a seasoned military wife. Make a list of all the tasks you want to accomplish around the house. Your spouse will be so happy to be home; they probably won’t notice if there is laundry in the hamper or the lawn needs to be mowed. Stock up on your spouse’s favorite foods so that when they return, they have their favorite snacks. The last thing you’ll want to do after picking your spouse up is to go to the grocery store. I’ve found that a few days after my husbands return, he loves going grocery shopping, but keep in mind it might be an expensive trip. They’ve spent the last few months with limited choices as far as food goes. You’ll want to make sure your spouse has all the hygiene products they will need when they return. Make a trip and buy their favorite shampoo and body soap. Grab a new razor for them; after all; they’ve spent the last few months having to shave every day. Gillette’s new SkinGuard Razor is a perfect choice. It’s specifically designed for men with sensitive skin or razor bumps. The razor has a unique design with its SkinGuard bar positioned between the blades to minimize “tug and pull” and irritation on the skin. It also has a precision trimmer on the back for all those hard to reach places. It works best when paired with the PURE by Gillette shaving gel or PURE by Gillette shaving cream. The razor and all the shaving products are available at your local Walmart. If you have a spouse getting ready to return home from a deployment, these tips will help you prepare. Make sure to take time to relax and pamper yourself as well.   Written by: Devon

Do you struggle to keep the house clean on busy days? Do these four things daily to keep your house clean. There are days when it seems impossible to get anything done. Whether you’re running errands or just not feeling well, you simply can’t get it all done. Do these four things to regain your sanity and keep your house under control. Most days I’m on top of the housework. I love going to bed at night when the laundry is done, the kitchen is clean, and the house is straightened. However, days like today when I’m not feeling good, and I have a preschooler that stayed home from school with pinkeye, the messes are taking over the house. This post may contain affiliate links. If you purchase something through these links I may be compensated at no cost to you. After a quick nap and a cup of coffee, I managed to get four things done so that my day isn’t a complete failure as far as housework goes. Four Things You Should Do To Stay On Top Of Housework Even When You’re Busy.   -Grab a basket and do a sweep of your house, putting anything that is out-of-place into the basket. By doing it this way, you’ll save some energy. Instead of walking everywhere to put each thing away you can sort the basket into piles for each room, then make one trip to each room. I always keep a basket at the bottom of our stairs and at the top of the stairs to make cleanup easier. -Do the dishes. If you’re like me, you can’t stand dirty dishes piling up in the sink. Today I started the day with good intentions by cleaning out my refrigerator before grocery shopping, putting the containers into the sink to wash later. Well later has come and gone and now I’m not feeling good, and it’s almost time to cook dinner. Emptying the dishwasher and loading it not only improves the overall look of your kitchen but makes cooking dinner so much easier. -Wipe down your counters. Right now I feel like germs are taking over my house! After loading the dishwasher, wipe the counters down to get rid of the germs and sticky hand prints from kids.   -Sweep or vacuum the main areas of your house. We have two dogs, a cat, and three kids, so our floors are a mess everyday! I can’t stand stepping on crumbs in the kitchen or seeing bits of the outside that my dogs have brought in on the floor. This is where my collection of Dyson’s comes in. I have one for every occasion, the big vacuum for major vacuuming, a stick vacuum for the kitchen and quick cleanup and a handheld vacuum for little messes or the stairs. Check out these other posts you might like:     If you do at least these four cleaning tasks, you’ll be able to sit and relax in the evening with your kids or a good show without looking at the mess. One last thing, light a candle or use your favorite room spray to freshen the house, it makes a world of difference.     Do you have any cleaning tasks that are a must to keep your sanity daily? I’d love to hear them, drop them in the comments!   Written by: Devon

We’ve all been there, there no shame in putting yourself in mommy timeout so that you can make it through the rest of your day without screaming at the kids. The most difficult time in my house is from 4 pm to 6 pm. My preschooler is playing and wanting snacks, I’m trying to cook dinner, my eight-year-old is just getting home, and my teenager needs to be picked up from track. On top of all that I’m trying to damage control my house, so my husband doesn’t walk into a super mess.     Your situation might be similar or completely different; it really doesn’t matter. Having a baby is an exciting time in your life, and you will see and feel your body changing every day. All these changes are completely natural and should be celebrated. Some changes, however, don’t completely go away and some can appear after pregnancy. Many moms find it hard to come to terms with some of the changes, but it’s important not to dwell on it and start enjoying your life as a mom with your new mom bod.   Skin changes   Most pregnant women will experience some sort of skin changes from dry skin to the ‘pregnancy mask’ which is like dark coloring around your eye area. These should start to improve after pregnancy, normally within a few weeks. On Occasions some women will experience skin problems after pregnancy such as dry skin on their hands and acne problems. Your hands are down to washing them more because of touching your new baby, and the acne is from your hormones settling down, either way, they shouldn’t be around for long. You might also like: How To Create Free Time As A Busy Mom     Breast Changes   A few days after giving birth your breast will most likely become quite uncomfortable, swollen, hard and full of milk. If you’re not breastfeeding it will go down within a few days, but if you are, it will stick around until you stop it just won’t be as sore as at the beginning. Most women experience some sagging as a result of stretched skin after bearing a child; some find it difficult to see past this and consider options such as gummy bear implants but others aren’t as bothered. However, you chose to love your new body remember it’s just performed a miracle.   Hair Loss   That’s right that lovely thick hair that’s appeared from taking all the prenatal vitamins may well fall out. Some people explain it like having chunks of hair falling out every time they shower whereas for others it happens much more gradually. Either way some or all of it you will probably be lost over time. Don’t stress about it too much though, it will soon settle down, and your hair will be back to its normal growing and losing rate. Once your hair has settled back to normal, it’s a good time to treat yourself to a new cut and color as many women chose not to use dyes during pregnancy so you must be dying for that trip to the salon.   Back Pain   After pregnancy, your stretched out abdomen muscles start to retract and become strong again, and while your body is doing this, it can put much extra pressure on your back muscles. This can at times lead to back pain until they have managed to tighten up again. Great isn’t it? As if you didn’t have enough backache in the third trimester. Poor posture from pregnancy can also contribute as you’re now able to hold your old posture your body just needs some time to adjust, and after six weeks you should start feeling a little better. If you are still having problems after six weeks, it might be time to take a trip to a medical expert. You might also like: Advice New Moms Need But Rarely Get   Your Tummy   This is probably one of the areas that can go through the most amount of change. Just after giving birth your uterus doesn’t change much and is still hard and round, some people believe that their tummy will be flat right after birth, but this just isn’t the case. It takes about six weeks for it to go back down to its original size and no longer will you be able to feel it when pressing on your abdomen. The brown line that you get down the center of your tummy will also start to disappear. If you’ve gained some stripes from childbirth aka stretch marks, unfortunately, they aren’t going to go anywhere. Over time they will become less visible and a silver color but to begin with they tend to be bright red. Most people will experience some tummy flabbiness after having a baby, including the fittest of moms but if you complete some regular exercise, sit-ups, and other abdominal exercises, then it is possible to get your stomach as flat as it once was. Be wary and consult your doctor about exercise routines if you had to have a c-section as there may be certain exercises you are better off avoiding while you heal.   Do you have any pregnancy changes to share with us? Please share them in the comment section below.   Written by: Devon
