Texas Chili Cheese Fries - YouTube

For the first time, I tasted Texas loaded chili cheese fries at my local restaurant and loved it. From then it becomes my favorite, whenever I eat outside I go for the chili cheese fries for an appetizer. For a long time, I wanted to try making it at home for my family but thinking of making fries from scratch has stopped me from doing it.

Where to Find McCain Fries?

I found McCain® Seasoned Curly Potato fries in my local Walmart grocery store in the frozen food aisle. There are other McCain® Fries varieties too however, I stick to these three, I have a little son who is obsessed with fun shape fries, McCain® Smiles® Mashed Potato Shapes, McCain® Seasoned Curly Fries Seasoned Potato Fries and McCain® Extra Crispy Crinkle Fries.

Make sure to utilize this exciting rebate offer until 5/31/19, you can get $1.50 off when you purchase 2 McCain® Fries at Walmart!!

McCain® seasoned curly potato fries are perfect for this Texas chili cheese fries recipe. The perfectly seasoned fries add a burst of flavor to the dish. Choosing the right potato fries are important for the delicious loaded cheese fries. You could tweak this recipe according to your choice.

For vegetarian chili cheese fries, replace the ground beef with mashed red kidney beans or black beans. You could replace the ground beef with ground chicken or turkey.

McCain® Potato Fries are great for the burger bar party menus. McCain® Smiles mashed potato shapes are my son Aldrich’s favorite. Whenever I host a playdate at my home these fries come handy. Kids would love to eat the fries as it is or just with the ketchup.

It is an easy appetizer for game day gatherings and weekend gatherings simple to make in just a few minutes. Prepare thick chili for this recipe instead of gravy. You could even prepare the chili ahead and store in the refrigerator. Warm the chili and layer on the baked fries before your guest arrives. Spread cheese, bake until the cheese melts and serve hot and fresh to your guests.

In many ways, juicing seems the ultimate solution to living an active, healthy life which includes everything you need in your diet to stay super fit and well. It allows you to consume multiple fruits and vegetables in one sitting, gets to the heart of the raw fruit for maximum benefit, and bypasses the digestive system for easier absorption. Every fitness guru and Instagram model is urging you to rush out and purchase a new appliance, with hoards of best juicer reviews everywhere you look.

There is, however, a darker side to juicing which is so often neglected by these self-appointed gurus. These side-effects could have negative consequences for your health, so do your body a favor and explore the possible disadvantages of juicing.

Juice Contains A Lot Of Sugar

Though healthy, fruits contain a large amount of naturally occurring sugars, and many doctors and dieticians will advise patients to consider this when planning a healthy diet. In addition, juicing allows the sugar to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream, and this can result in a sudden sugar spike. These spikes can result in mood swings and variations in your energy levels.

An excess of sugar can also damage your liver. The naturally occurring sugar found in fruits is called fructose and can usually be absorbed and processed by the liver without too much trouble. In extremely high quantities, however, the organ begins to struggle and can turn this sugar into liver fat. The results of this can be catastrophic, including heart disease and liver damage.

Juice Lacks Protein

Protein is a crucial part of our diets, helping us to build and maintain muscle, as well as helping the body to repair and restore tissues, hormones, enzymes, and other essential chemicals in the body. If it is missing, your body will attempt to rectify this by drawing protein from the muscles, and this can cause issues with your metabolic rate. Not only does this render weight loss and muscle building effectively inefficient, but it also has potentially serious repercussions long term.

Juicing Can Lead To Calorie Deficiency

A juice diet is usually lower in calories than eating normally, and this can result in a vast calorie deficiency. This impact can cause the body to go into starvation mode, which comes with risks and dangers. A starvation diet puts extra stress on all areas of the body, including vital organs, and elevates levels of cortisol—the stress hormone. This can put a physical and mental strain on the body and could have devastating effects.

Raw Juice Can Change The Ph Of Your Stomach

Our bodies were designed to eat food, not drink it. Using juicing as a method of meal replacement alters the pH levels of the intestines and stomach, and can result in a host of unwanted health issues such as gallstones, leaky gut, IBS, ulcers, and trouble digesting regular foods which can be difficult to rectify at a later date.

April 27th, 2019, Saturday is a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. I am grateful for this opportunity to foster awareness about an opioid crisis to keep our loved ones and community safe by disposing of unused medicines properly.

According to Drug Abuse.gov, 18 million people in the U.S. over the age of 12 have misused medications at least once in the past year. According to CDC.gov, 192 Americans die every day from a drug overdose.

As a mom, I look to minimize the risk at home in all possible ways. Storing the medications safely from little ones is challenging at times. Little kids are curious to the colorful capsules and they try to imitate parents. I store the medications on the top shelves that are secured with a child lock. However, I never cared about properly disposing of medications until I become a witness in my own family.

Last year, in April, while I was busy cleaning the home for my son’s birthday party. I found a few expired medications on the shelves and sorting out the one that goes to the trash. In between, I heard my phone ringing and got to attend the call. My curious little buddy stuffed his mouth with a hand full of capsules.

I could manage to take out some of the capsules from his mouth though some passed into his stomach. Immediately I reached out a poison control and fortunately, the help arrived on time and my son was treated immediately. I never ever forget that moment in my life. It was the scariest moment that happened in my life so far. After this incident, I started disposing of the expired and unused medications promptly.

Drug Disposal Receptacle A safe way to dispose of unused medications:

Initially, I started disposing of the unused medications, by flushing down in the toilet or throwing in the garbage. Recently, I came to know that these forms of disposing medications create damage to our environment. According to the Associated Press, 46 million Americans are exposed to trace amounts of medications in their drinking water.

There are many things that I cannot do to protect the environment. Those things are out of my hands but this simple thing I could do. LifeInCheck created a Consumer Drug Take-Back program that provides consumers with a safe option to discard their unused or outdated prescription medications in secure receptacles located across the US.

The LifeInCheck Consumer Drug Take-Back receptacle that I visited at St. Vincent Mercy is the closest location for me to dispose of the unused medications.

You could check your closest location that carries LifeInCheck Consumer Drug Take-Back receptacle here

This LifeInCheck Consumer Drug Take-Back Program Locator Tool is simple to find your closest locations that contains drug disposal receptacle. You could drop the outdated medications in the receptacle.

How to Use the Drug Disposal Receptacle:
  • Pull to open drawer
  • Place medications inside
  • Close the drawer

The drug disposal receptacle is easy and safe to dispose of unused medications. Once you place medications inside and close the drawer, no one could open the drawer.

Outdated or unused medications don’t need to sit around in your cabinets. Be sure to dispose them safely in a LifeInCheck receptacle without impacting surroundings and environment. And if you’ve personally witnessed the opioid crisis, feel free to share here. Sharing your stories helps to foster awareness and prevention.

Potato capsicum fry (Aloo Shimla Mirch) is a spicy and flavorful side dish in just 30 minutes. Soft cooked potato with spices and the flavor from bell peppers makes a delicious side dish.

Aloo Shimla Mirch:

Potato capsicum fry is known as aloo shimla mirch. It is a delicious side dish that goes well with roti or any rice varieties. This recipe is similar to the South Indian Style Potato Fry recipe with added bell pepper flavor. Bell peppers are my favorite veggie that I add in many dishes like omelets, sambar, fried rice, and curries. I just love that unique bell pepper flavor.

It is a dry side dish if you would like to make in the gravy consistency, add cumin seeds, chopped onion to the oil and saute until golden brown. Add cubed potatoes then add the spices like turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and little amount of water. Cook until the potatoes roasted slightly. Add diced capsicum, cover and cook until the potatoes become soft. Add lemon juice, garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

Smart Cooking Tips:
  1. Keep stirring often to avoid the potatoes getting burned and sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  2. You could use other varieties of bell peppers like red, yellow, orange bell pepper or mixed of all.
  3. Traditionally, mango powder is added to this recipe. I just added the lemon juice instead of mango powder for the mild tangy taste.
Potato Capsicum Beans Fry:

Potato capsicum beans fry (aloo capsicum beans fry) is similar to the recipe except add the chopped beans with potato and cook together until the potatoes becomes soft. Then add capsicum and cook until the capsicum becomes slightly soft. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

Hard boiled egg salad sandwich is an easy and delicious sandwich recipe in just a few minutes. It is an excellent breakfast or brunch sandwich recipe.

hard boiled egg sandwich - YouTube
Healthy Hard Boiled Egg Salad Sandwich:

Hard boiled egg salad sandwich is loaded with protein and easy to make in few minutes. To making it, even more, healthier, replace the mayonnaise with mashed avocado or greek yogurt. I love Avocado Boiled Egg salad sandwich much compared to the greek yogurt version. Using whole grain bread instead of white bread is a great option for the healthier sandwich.

Smart Cooking Tips:
  1. You could add any of your favorite seasonings like red chili flakes, curry powder, dried herbs in the egg salad.
  2. You could replace the mayonnaise with the greek yogurt or mashed avocado for a healthier version.
  3. Grilling the sandwich is optional. Personally, I prefer slightly crispy bread in the sandwich.
Tips to pack sandwich in the lunch box:

I get lots of queries from mommies, how to pack a sandwich in the lunch box without getting soggy? Here are the few tips that works for me:

  1. Choose thicker varieties of bread slices like oat nut or wheat bread.
  2. Applying generous of butter on the side facing the stuffing helps to protect the bread from getting soggy.
  3. Pack the veggies like tomato, lettuce, and cucumber separately and assembling the sandwich before eating is a great option.
