We are extremely excited to have featured your latest single “Butterfly”, being a Hip Hop artist we never of heard before this, please tell us who is FLO Tha Rapper? Where are you from? How/When did you start making Hip Hop?
So my name is FLO aka FLO tha Rapper. Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. I wrote my first rhyme when I was 11 years old . From there I spent much of my childhood doing freestyles until I turned 22. From there I started writing seriously and I never looked back.
We notice your style is really Boom-Bap driven with a cutting edge twist, let us know how your style if different than all the rap artists out there!
My style is really a branch of Chicago’s origination. I love twisting fast yet pronouncing words so that the listener can understand as well. It’s a combination of doing R & B / Hiphop/ Rap. I typically like to deliver a power message in terms of what I been through in my life so that others can relate. However , I am competitive and do like the lyrical acrobatics and competition involved as well. I’m different because I feel I’m versatile. Not many if any out there can keep up with my speed, however, I can also slow it down and add an R & B feel as well.
When are you planning on dropping another project in 2019?
I have a project dropping at the latest between May 20th and June 1st. This album has features from Kobe Honeycutt who has a Grammy with Eminem and co- writer on the hit song “ Kush” by Dr. Dre. I also got a feature from Twista on the album as well. He was who I learned my style from and if I had to pick an idol, he is the one. So for me it’s a huge deal because the dream is now solidified. Also got a feature from Bo Deal who came up in the game with Waka Flocka . Lots of talent on this album and it was such a great experience going through the whole creative process.

Let us know about the creative process behind your new single “Butterfly”?
The creative process behind Butterfly was actually pretty simple. I was going through a lot of changes in my life and wanted to write a song about change. The thing most connected to change in my opinion was Butterfly. So I came up with it to try to relay to people that everybody goes through difficult times in life . However, through those changes growth happens which can be painful but in the end very beautiful.
Where do you see yourself in 5yrs?
In 5 years I see myself continuing this pursuit of music and I see myself holding a Grammy. I want to be known for the message I delivered . I want kids and people to know that no matter the struggle, you can make it. No matter what you go through in life, that with hard work and Perseverance, you can achieve anything. Which is why I named the upcoming album “ Perseverance.”
Are there any Hip Hop influences you have in the underground game that is based in your city?
My influences in Chicago are a long list. Twista, Do or Die, Crucial Conflict, Psychodrama, Triple Darkness, Shawnna, Traxter, Lupe Fiasco, and Common.
How does social media playing a role in your success? How are fans/supporters helping your movement?
Social media plays a huge role because without the fans, I’m nobody. For the first time in my life, I’m finally putting myself out there and trying to vulnerable. Which sounds easy but when you speak about real life experiences, it’s not easy to show people your hurt and heart.
With this being an underground hip hop site, we always ask this important question. What is your definition of “underground hip hop”?
My definition of underground hiphop is basically hiphop that has yet to be discovered. Mostly radio and even big social media outlets are governed by record labels with tons of capital. I feel underground hiphop can still be just as profitable if not more but is just on a smaller scale in terms of marketing ability.
Where can people find you on the Internet? Drop all the vital links.
People can find my music on all platforms as I am signed to the biggest distributor which is Empire. All my music goes through them so if you search FLO you should find me. I also am on YouTube by searching “ FLO tha Rapper” or you can go to my website www.envoyhiphop.com which is my label I created for myself as an artist.
Lastly, and shout out?
Shout out to my mentor Will Gates of Open World Films for helping mentor me through this process and everybody in Chicago who has supported me through this whole journey. A lot more to come . Also special thanks to UndergroundHipHopBlog for covering my story. I’m honored.
