Finally the ACH model is available for preorder from the amazing Anglo Dutch Truck Models. This has been on the cards for a while but as you can imagine there is a lot of planning, checking and making sure colours and liveries are correct. The truck is F81 HFC, a genuine ACH truck (see photo below) that is actually still on the road in Ireland. The Volvo F12 Globetrotter tractor unit is well matched to a classic tri-axle tilt in ACH’s famous livery. I have to say Steve at Anglo Dutch has excellent himself with this one, it is very very realistic!

The model can be preordered by clicking the following link: PREORDER ACH TRUCK MODEL.

The model is likely to be physically available around October and I am reassured it will definitely be out way before Christmas. The production run will be between 170 and 200 units depending on how well they sell, so get ordering!….then we may be able to get a second one commissioned!!

If you are a genuine ex ACH employee then please can you register your interest on the ACH Facebook page, or through myself or Tony Giddins as names have to be checked to qualify for something extra.

To the rest of you then you can preorder on the Anglo Dutch Truck Model website. While you’re there have a look at the other highly detailed models that are expertly created by Steve along with WSI. I have to say I’m so pleased this model was done as a WSI rather than any other manufacturer as I think they do just pip the rest on the fine detail. The details is what makes them realistic for me.

Anyway get ordering by clicking above or click HERE.

DENTON, Texas. – July 6, 2018 – (was it not the dark of the moon on the 6th June – TB!?) Today Peterbilt Motors Company delivered the keys to the first production unit of the new Model 579 UltraLoft to David Freymiller, President and CEO of Oklahoma City based Freymiller Trucking.

Peterbilt announced the introduction of the Model 579 UltraLoft earlier this year. The UltraLoft features a high roof integral cab and sleeper design for Peterbilt’s flagship on-highway Model 579 that provides the ultimate level of driver comfort and the distinctive style and quality Peterbilt is known for.

“The Model 579 UltraLoft was designed to exceed customer demands, offering increased space and storage to create a comfortable environment for drivers,” said Robert Woodall, Assistant General Manager – Sales and Marketing Peterbilt Motors Company. “The UltraLoft is the result of the collaborative process between Peterbilt and many of our customers and drivers. They asked for the best and we delivered.”

Driver experience was the key driver in designing the Model 579 UltraLoft. By optimizing the space available, the new sleeper model includes industry-leading storage and comfort. The UltraLoft gives drivers the largest upper and lower bunk mattresses, best-in-class headroom in both bunks and class-leading creature comforts with space to accommodate the industry’s largest microwave and enough room to fit a 32 inch flat screen TV.

The improvements are not limited to the driver experience. The UltraLoft provides an estimated 2-percent aerodynamic improvement and a 220 pound weight reduction to push the limits of efficiency even further while maintaining the styling and bold look of the Model 579.

Peterbilt trucks are the class of the industry. The superior craftsmanship, performance and design set them apart from the crowd and the pride of driving a Peterbilt is a tool we use to retain and recruit quality drivers,” said David Freymiller, President and CEO, Freymiller Inc. and

longtime Peterbilt customer. “The Model 579 UltraLoft is a game changer as it takes it to a new level. Our drivers are excited to take advantage of the increased space and premium cab design.”

I’m sure Marco won’t mind me borrowing this, an unknown photographer but a good one! The supposed new Ford heavy truck range will be launched at the IAA Show in Hanover this coming September. I’m not to sure what it looks like but I bet Scania wish their designers had come up with the roof design! Looks good not sure on the headlights.

Please discuss.

Road marking and haulage specialist, Tim Doody Limited, has taken delivery of the company’s flagship vehicle, the first right hand drive Range T High to be ordered in the UK.  Liveried in Tim Doody’s distinctive new bright yellow branding, the T520 High 6×2 tractor unit, supplied by Renault Trucks dealer Border Trucks, is an addition to the company’s fleet of 22 vehicles and was ordered to meet ever-growing customer demand for its services.

A flagship vehicle with real driver appeal was at the heart of Managing Director Pat Doody’s purchase decision, as he explains: “We’d been after a flagship for a while, and our driver, who has been with us a long time, wanted the T High in right hand drive as soon as it came out. The two T cabs on the haulage fleet are performing well, so I immediately contacted Stephen Whitehead at Border Trucks to place the order – and am delighted that we were first in line!”

Equipped with all mod cons, including luxury leather and ventilated seats, TV, fridge and microwave for a comfortable life on the road, Tim Doody’s T High, with its fully flat floor and interior height of 211cm, has been very well received all round. Pat says: “The driver absolutely loves it, he’s out Sunday and comes back Saturday and finds it comfortable and quiet. I was surprised at how big the truck is, it feels gigantic when you’re inside it.  As a flagship vehicle, it’s certainly getting plenty of attention when it’s out on the road.”

Pat is also impressed with the T High’s fuel efficiency: “It’s usually pulling big high trailers transporting plastic bottles from the local factory, and we’re getting over 10mpg on these light loads. On 44 tonnes, it’s just under 10mpg and it’s only been on the road a few weeks, so we expect more as it runs in.”

While Tim Doody takes care of the six weekly checks, all other R&M is undertaken by Border Trucks, whose service support was also a factor in vehicle selection.   “With seven Renault trucks on our fleet, we know we can rely on Border Trucks, they’re really responsive and that makes all the difference.”

….for the foreseeable future at least…..

As I often do I get to hear about all sorts to do with our industry and often before they are made public. I had an anonymous message from a number I do not know and it contained some shocking news straight from a UK Scania dealer. My source did say that three other operator friends have been told the same and their V8 trucks that were on order have already been cancelled. The message read as follows;

“I don’t know if you are aware that Scania have a massive problem regarding V8 engine production…

Apparently a German foundry makes the engine blocks for V8 engines as well as some VW engines, parent group VW has had a massive dispute over supply problems ( I’m assured it ain’t a quality issue)… this has apparently led to the supplier refusing to supply any more engines.

Scania has removed the V8 engine from sale and all current orders will be cancelled, the salesman are trying to do you a deal on 500bhp 6cylinder trucks as it is impossible to get a V8, if you go on Scania configurator you can only build a 6 cylinder powered truck… I was told last week that my salesman urgently needed a meeting with me regarding my new truck order, I was told it wouldn’t be built, the salesman is currently taking orders for Feb/March next year and that all V8’s will be cancelled and until Scania finds a new foundry to supply engine blocks and thorough testing/trailing, it will be impossible to order one.”

To celebrate the introduction of the Volvo FH in 1993 – a quarter of a century ago – Volvo Trucks is releasing The Volvo FH 25 Year Special Edition. Available as both Volvo FH and Volvo FH 16, it is characterised by its distinctive exterior and interior design, superb driver comfort and state-of-the-art additional features.

The Volvo FH is one of the industry’s most successful models ever with nearly 1 million trucks sold since launch, creating a way of life for millions of drivers all over the world. The Volvo FH 25 Year Special Edition is therefore not only a celebration of the truck itself, but also a tribute to all the customers and drivers who have been driving this icon for the past 25 years.

“The Volvo FH is the perfect representation of a customer focused mind-set and a model that has been pushing the boundaries for a quarter of a century. This magnificent edition truck is therefore both a tribute to the first 25 years and a starting point for our continued successful journey with customers and drivers”, says Claes Nilsson, President Volvo Trucks.

“The first-generation Volvo FH meant so much for Volvo Trucks and the whole industry. It was a milestone; in fact, it was a game-changer that totally transformed the perception of a modern truck. Working on the design of the edition truck has been a real honour,” says Nigel Atterbury, Senior Graphic Designer at Volvo Trucks.

Cont/…..

The exterior of this special edition is best described as contemporary with a retro twist. The silver/grey and orange décor highlights the truck’s origin and the striping forms the number 25 to signal the anniversary. The striping combines 3D effects and shadows to echo the design trend of the early 1990s and gives the truck a distinct retro look. There are two launch colours, one darker, cool grey tone (Mammoth Tree Metallic) and a shiny red (Crimson Pearl), the latter a modern tribute to the original red cab colour of 1993.

When opening the door, a premium and luxurious interior awaits the driver. Safety has always been key to the Volvo FH and this passion is manifested by orange details in everything from seat belt stitches to curtains, carpets and reflective safety door decals. Using subtle, yet distinct accents, the design team has created a continuation of the safety and driver focus that has always been essential in the Volvo FH. And to enhance a great driving experience, the seats combine quilt and leather to offer exceptional comfort and design.

The limited edition truck also embodies how the Volvo FH has been, and remains, an innovation leader. It includes some of the truck’s latest breakthroughs and it can be specified with the brand-new extensions to Volvo Dynamic Steering:

• Volvo Dynamic Steering with Stability Assist. Designed to prevent skidding accidents.

• Volvo Dynamic Steering with Lane Keeping Assist. Engineered to help the driver stay in lane, preventing collisions and roll-over accidents.

• Volvo Dynamic Steering with Personal Settings. Allows individual adjustment of steering wheel resistance for convenient and comfortable driving.

“This truck really shows how Volvo Trucks is driving progress and continues to set new standards in trucking, just like the Volvo FH has done since 1993,” explains Tomas Thuresson, Global Long Haul Segment Manager at Volvo Trucks.

Tomas concludes: “It is a fantastic edition that pays tribute to a quite outstanding truck and the millions of people; customers, drivers and fans that have been engaged in the Volvo FH for 25 years.”

To summarise the official Volvo press release here are the basic details you all need to know;

One of the best truck shows and truck show venues you could wish for. We all know Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, add a truck show surrounded by mountains and a local brew and bingo you end up with the above!! My truck show partner and myself talked about visiting the Trucker & Country Festival at Interlaken again this year (Having been in 2015 – see the PHOTOS HERE), but for one reason and another we have decided we can’t get there now. Worryingly here in the UK their is a rumour going round that this year is the last year of the Truck Mile at the show. It worries us so much so that James took it upon himself to email the show organisers and ask the question. James asked if this was the last year of the Truck Mile or would be able to go in 2019. This is the email response, apologies for it looking a little odd but I’m sure you can piece it together;

So there you have it, 2018 is NOT the last truck show in Interlaken, CH. I’m not sure where or how the rumour started but it’s not true. If you can’t get there this year, don’t panic you won’t miss out. I will urge you all to get it in your calendars at some point as you really won’t find a better, more beautiful than Interlaken. Saying that if it is, I for one will be off to have a few words with Katja!!
