Some of you may have seen my recent announcement on Instagram and Strava about me expecting a baby in November. Woop-woop! Hold on…How did this happen?! Those of you who know me personally, may not describe me as very motherly. Unlike many of my friends, I never babysat, talked about wanting any children, and they would never catch me coo over their babies. When Simon and I got married, we did talk about having children ‘one day’, but this was something that always stayed in the back of my mind for a long time; ‘one day’ always seemed too far in…

This is the most difficult and the saddest blog post I have ever written. My childhood best friend and fellow healthy lifestyle blogger, Anita from Ana y La Passion, lost her 3.5 year long battle with cancer at the weekend. The pain, the shock and the emptiness I feel are still quite raw and I get torn up inside every time I remember that I won’t be seeing and talking to her again, and all the things we planned to do together will not happen. Not in this lifetime, anyways. I can’t imagine a better way to start this blog…

Having been a runner for a number of years now, I am quite used to getting a wide spectrum of reactions from people when it comes to running. One of the most common reactions is ‘I do admire you, how can you love running so much when it’s so hard, I couldn’t make myself run across the road?’ The fact of the matter is, I’ve a lot of reasons why I love running, but if you have to ask, you will never understand it! Running is something only those can appreciate who practice it. At first, it will probably be…

If you are a seasoned runner with a number of races behind your back, my guess is that you have probably found yourself in situations when you were ready to throw in the towel mid-race. I am quite familiar with the sensation of “hitting the wall” or “bonking”, as some runners like to call it: you know, when your legs are feeling as if they are made of cement, your stomach getting funny and losing your mental focus. For most of us, quitting is not an option when our faces slam up against that invisible concrete slab. We runners like to…

I am one of those runners who has the tendency to get too comfortable with her running from time to time. Therefore I always try to turn one of my weekly runs into a speedier session to push myself a bit harder than usual. This certainly adds a bit more spice and variety into my running. And not only that – doing ‘single speed’ running all the time will keep you from getting stronger and better, it may also increase the risk of injury. Remember that our bodies need variety! In this post I am sharing a collection of my…

Apart from running, the only other thing that excites me is science fiction and space sagas – others may not admit to it, but I am not ashamed to say I have been through all episodes of Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek. I am currently indulging myself watching the latest series of Star Trek called Discovery. The moment I first fell in love with the new series was when I noticed that the corridors of the Discovery spaceship are filled with joggers night and day! How cool is that? In fact, the main character, Michael Burnham seemed to…

In case you didn’t know, Veganuary is a charity, inspiring people to try vegan for January and throughout the rest of the year. Veganism as a lifestyle trend is attracting a lot of attention here in the UK – in comparison with 59,000 people signing up for this challenge last year, this year the numbers are well over 160,000 at the time of writing this article. One evening, on my way home from work on the train, I was reading the latest issue of the Runners World Magazine. An article caught my eye in the race reviews section about a scenic winter cross-country race, on the borders of Oxfordshire and Berkshire – the Mapledurham 10 by My Sporting Times Events. I remember almost instantly feeling an itch to sign up for this race, despite the course profile promising to be quite tough and most likely to be a mud-fest (not something that usually deters me…). I found out that this race is part of a special…

My Hubby and I spent Christmas and New Year with our friends Tobias and Rayanna in Germany, in a charming little town called Dettingen unter Teck, near Stuttgart. They are one of our best friends and needless to say, we could not wait to see them again! The week we spent together was a happy and very relaxing reunion, and at the same time, an interesting experience living under the same roof with a toddler and a baby! One of the highlights of our holiday was joining the 36th annual Silvesterlauf in the neighbouring town, Kirchheim. This free ‘fun run’…
