It’s St. Patrick’s Day today, and the name of this brand is Patric Chocolate, not “St. Patric(k)’s” Chocolate, but let’s go with it; this is some magical Leprechaun-worthy cocoa. Patric Chocolate is special. It’s “American Handcrafted Chocolate,” est. 2006 by Alan “Patric” McClure out of Columbia Missouri, USA. According to the interior of the chocolate bar packaging, Alan spent a year in France in his mid-twenties learning about chocolate. As of 2017, the brand has been rewarded Good Food Awards every year, making it the most decorated craft food producer in the USA. Impressive. This particular bar, the Browned-Butter Bar, was...

This week, a friend was relaying that most ingenious ideas are first sparked alone. It happened. Time Cupsoul finally tried Askinosie Chocolate! Askinosie‘s Dark Chocolate (70% Tanzania) + Crunchy Sugar Crystals & Vanilla Bean bar caught our attention; Askinosie partnered with “pioneering food friends” for a collection of their artisan “CollaBARation Bars,” including the ancho chile and pistachio bar with Cafe Pasqual, and a dark chocolate and coffee bean bar with Intelligentsia Coffee Roasters. This particular vanilla bean chocolate bar represents collusion with Zingerman’s Delicatessen. Simply assessing the packaging of this bar won’t necessarily clue the chocolate patron that Askinosie’s reputation is of high esteem. The brown paper wrapping, stamped with the Askinosie logo – an A...
