Yes. I’ve tried all of the top Collagen powders on the market right now and I well I can break it down for you and let you know my honest thoughts.
I probably don't have to tell you: Collagen is trendier than ever. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body—found in our tendons, ligaments, skin, muscles, bones, and blood vessels—and plays a vital role in maintaining its structural integrity. But unfortunately, our bodies produce much less collagen as we age, and we're consuming far less of it from natural sources than we used to. Taking collagen is associated with a number of health benefits. it is said that it may improve skin health by reducing wrinkles and dryness. They may also help increase muscle mass, prevent bone loss and relieve joint pain. Everyone right now is raving on skin health, nail and hair growth!
Now two things before I start - Firstly I have been gifted some of these powders and right now I’m sponsored by one brand. I will point these out, and the below blog will strip that away and you will see my WHY. The second thing to note - I’m no ingredients specialist. These are my conclusions and rationale. If anything is not clear please ask me or do some research.
VERY CLEAR HERE. To me, collagen is collagen. They all in the end should do what they say, and for all the brands below I’ve seen people, mostly influencers get results. Because of this I have focused on collagen levels and vitamin c levels. What you get for what you are paying for.
I will start this blog by listing all the ones I’ve tried, how I came about it (ie. gifted or did I buy it) and my summary. I’ll end this blog with which one I would buy and why.
Jeuneora Renew+ Marie Collagen Powder Product: NZD$129.95 Status: I’ve brought this product on three occasions Summary: A great product, cool packaging. But its the most expensive of the five I have tried at $4.33 per serve! I loved that they had a mixed berry flavour without compromising the amount of collagen, so I did buy this to work with my smoothie.
Cailfornia Gold Nutrition Product: NZD$49 Status: I’ve brought this once, because it was cheap and I wanted to test it for the blog. Summary: A great product, with an epic cost per serve of .55 cents. The levels of Collagen and vitamin C are very comparable to Jeueora but without the price tag. It is unflavoured - so you will need to add it into smoothies, coffees, etc - but if anything it makes this baby more attractive. Downside - It is not NZ Made nor an NZ brand. You have to get it from iherb.
Adashiko Collagen Ultra Product: NZD$94.95 Status: Was gifted, and brought. Used for six months Summary: A great product, I actually loved it, but sadly when I pop it on my spreadsheet it is middle of the pack. They do say it that Adashiko is the best-absorbed version of collagen available, and have added in Co Q10 and Elastin. I like that they have got a supporting skincare range.
Two Islands Collagen Beauty Powder Unflavoured Product: NZD$99.95 Status: Was gifted - but in a goodie bag, not from the company. Summary: BLOWN AWAY HERE. 9950mg of Collagen per serve! and around 10mg of Vitamin C. Two Islands Collagen Beauty Powder is simple, but one high dose, blowing the others out of the water. It comes in three flavours - well one of those is unflavoured but having options is great.
QT For You, Belle Product: NZD$109 Status: Firstly gifted, then brought, then Sponsored - HANNAH15 For 15% off. Summary: This is not a just a collagen - its an Internal cosmetic with a focus on beauty. Because of this, I was not so keen to include it in my summary, but with 4500mg of Collagen Qt for You is up there! At this stage it is only one flavour - pineapple which does limit it. The ingredient list is epic: Tremella, the incredible anti-aging botanical, works in unison with collagen to visibly hydrate and nourish the skin and enhance bone and joint strength. Natural Silica boosts collagen synthesis and eliminates toxins in the gut, enabling the greater uptake of nutrients, while Vitamin C also maximises the absorption of nutrients allowing for optimal results. Lotus is a powerful antioxidant that counteracts free radical damage, making the skin more resistant to lifestyle aging. I also like they have a male and female range.
Here is a wee spreadsheet I drew up:
Want to give collagen ago, reluctant to spend the money? Look I get it,money can be tight and well will this collagen stuff work? If you are keen to try it but not shell out serious money than Cailfornia Gold Nutrition is you. It’s cheap, and I know it does the job. I have an iherb code too so you can save even more.
More than Collagen? Skin is key? Honestly spend the money and go for QT For You, - Hell use my discount code HANNAH15 For 15% off. This is what I use, and will continue to use to help aid my skin journey. It has the perfect amount of Collagen to help with all those other benefits but just so many added values. It is one magical drink and to me makes the most sense. I look at the above spreadsheet and see a close race, but with all the extras QT has my money and my vote.
Runner up? Two Islands. Honestly - they have kept it simple for fast results.
Okay team! I hope this helps! At the end of the day just do you!
Ever since I watched the Jetsons as a kid I’ve dreamed of having my own robot servant, and as you know I am a massive fan of smart home technology. Well I am excited to announce I am the proud owner of my very first Robot (if you don’t count a Furby). The Deebot Ozmo 900 Vacuum from Godfreys.
The Deebot Ozmo 900 made by Ecovacs is my very own robot vacuum that cleans my house while I’m out, or doing more important things, and I’m in love. DeeDee, my cleaning lady, as I like to call her features intelligent navigation, an integrated vacuum and mop cleaning system, and an auto-boost power ability. Honestly, this robot is extremely efficient in solving my various cleaning needs.
I live in an apartment, with my rascal of a dog Brody. Brody is an older dog but with a lot of hair! And between the two of us, I was vacuuming for 20 minutes three times a week. I was spending an hour vacuuming a week, and a further 30 minutes mopping. DeeDee, my Deebot Ozmo 900 has given me back a whopping HOUR AND A HALF back in my life. Pretty epic.
The Deebot Ozmo 900 is a robot vacuum cleaner that you can operate either via an app or through Google Home or Amazon Alexa. - I use Amazon Alexa. It vacuums hard floors and carpets, and it has a mopping function as well.
She scans and maps your home to make cleaning efficient and you can use the app to set areas of the house you want it to pay particular attention too or you can also set ‘no-go zones’ if there are areas you want to keep it away from. So for me, I have cornered off my bed and my couch just because I have cables running underneath it.
The Ecovacs app shows you how long it has been cleaning for, it’s battery percentage and how much she has cleaned in the home. Using the app you can also set regular cleaning times or activate it when you are out. You can also change the vacuum power between standard and max, check the water level, activate Auto-Boost Suction, Continuous Cleaning and set a cleaning schedule. You can even locate your Deebot in case she goes missing.
The one thing I liked most about DeeDee, my Deebot Ozmo 900 is how quiet she is as well as efficient. Prior to DeeDee I owned a large Dyson. It was noisy and hard work, and I am pleased to see the back of it. I also was honestly surprised how effective the Deebot was with pet hair.
I am totally hands off with DeeDee as well. I have a cleaning schedule, Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings and when battery power gets low my Deebot automatically returns to its charging station and recharges all by itself. The only thing I need to do? Empty the filter and replace the water. 5 mins max.
See it in action below:
I Try: Deebot Ozmo 900 from Godfreys - YouTube
I am honestly blown away!
DeeDee my Deebot Ozmo 900 is from Godfreys. She retails for $1,299 NZD but honestly, for the hour and a half I am getting back each week, she is paying for herself. Any questions let me know in the comments below! Hannah xo
Time equals money, and one thing I have been trying to do is streamline my life, just a little. I mean I do it at work for my team, so why not do it with my life right?
Here are Five ways I have worked smarter and not harder.
My Deebot Ozmo 900 from Godfreys.
I cannot tell you what an impact this vacumn has made in my life. Even as I write this blog now DeeDee (as I call her) is doing her thing. Since getting my Deebot Ozmo 900 I have caculated I save a whopping NINETY MINUTES. This is ninety minutes I can be doing work, reading a book, hitting the gym, anything I want thanks to my Deebot.
My Deebot Ozmo 900 Features intelligent navigation, an integrated vacuum and mop cleaning system, and an auto-boost power ability, making this robot is extremely efficienct in solving my various cleaning needs. Shes so amazing I have done a review on behalf of Godfreys which you can read here.
Yes, I know, the dreaded meal prep. But isn’t making one large meal and dividing it down into planned meals a-lot easier than making a fresh lunch each and everyday? Meal Prepping is not only time efficient, but you will find yourself eating better and saving money. Meal plans save time because you don’t have to open the cupboards each day and work out what to cook, and you don’t have to take extra trips to the shops to get food because you will have bought your food shop knowing what meals you are cooking for.
I don’t know about you but Meal prepping has some serious wins.
Vitamin pouches or boxes.
This is something I have been doing for the last year. The key idea behind it was to ensure I take my daily vitamins but the result, I am also saving time. So here is what I do: I have small stackable containers. 7 blue ones and 7 white ones. Each Sunday night I open them all up and divide out all my vitamins for morning and night. Not only does this allow me enough time to purchase refills if needed but I also have handy we packs ready to go when needed.
Get Ready for the morning the night before.
I am not 100% sure if this saves me time, but I know it saves me stress. Each night, before bed, I normally lay out my morning workout clothes, my work outfit, and I pre-sort the dry ingredients for my morning smoothie. It means when I wake up, all I need to do, is hit the gym, get ready for work, make my breakfast fast and boom I am ready to go. I am not running around stressed trying to find my White T-Shirt, or dealing with protein powders.
Work Social Time with Activities.
I always try and see people in ways which complement my goals. So when I make friend time I tend to suggest we hit the gym, do a class, or go for a walk. Otherwise, let’s do a meal, over say a coffee…we all have to eat right? It may seem obvious, but honestly it helps. You still get that workout in but with the added bonus, you get to see your friend. A total win-win.
These are my top five tips! What are yours? Let me know in the comments below.
Following Fairtrade and ethical production principles and using the highest quality unique organic ingredients available, Vestige Verdant delivers skincare that prolongs your youthful looks on a cellular level. I have used Vestige Verdant before (You can read about the Peat Mask here) and was wildly impressed. It is not hard to see how it has been so sucessful in winning awards.
I have been using a trio of their skincare products over the last month and have reviewed them for you.
Vestige Verdant Organic Skin Care - Pure Brilliance Micellar Cleansing Water
Pure Brilliance Micellar Cleansing Water is a unique natural formula cleanses quickly and conveniently all of the daily dirt, pollution, make-up and grease from your face, eyes and lips without using any harmful substances. the minuscule deep cleansing micelles absorb impurities, grit and grime without excessive scrubbing or damaging your skin. Pure Brilliance does not contain parabens, silicone- or mineral oils, alcohol or synthetic colouring. It smells beautiful and is super gentle on the skin.
What I like most about this cleansing water is you spray it on, instantly feeling refreshed. I also am not wasting a drop like I would if I was to pour it onto cotton pads. The instructions suggest you spray it onto cotton pads, however after a long day at work spraying it directly to my face and rubbing it off gently was also a nice option.
Vestige Verdant Absolute Hydrance Day Cream
The unique formula of this lightweight and fast absorbing Absolute Hydrance Day Cream deeply moisturises, rejuvenates and soothes your skin. It recharges dull and tired skin with organic and natural ingredients, leaving the skin with a healthy and glowing complexion, silky smoothness and refreshed feel.
I really appricated how soft this day cream was and how it was not heavily frangraced. It did not feel heavy yet I felt hydrated. It let my skin breathe.
Vestige Verdant Complete Recovery Night Cream
Complete Recovery Night Cream by Vestige Verdant is said to effectively fight the signs of ageing by slowing and preventing skin ageing process. It smooths fine lines and wrinkles, tightens the skin, restores its natural elasticity, diminishes pores and normalizes sebum secretion.
To me the Vestige Verdant Night Cream is very thick and it sits on the skin when first applied. When I wake up however my skin is soft, hydrated and happy. My skin is plump.
One thing about Vestige Verdant is that a little goes a long way. Only a small amount was needed to cover my face and my neck. Please never forget the neck!
The packaging is as always beautiful, yet simple and looks great in my bathroom, which is an added bonus. Furthermore you can easily use the products together in a full routine, or alone and they ease into your skincare range perfectly. I started with the night cream, and entered the day cream as it was needed. The result, is clear, clean and glowing skin.
Previously I have enjoyed the Vestige Verdant Infinity Eye Serum, Vestige Verdant Organic Rare Oil Blend Facial Oil and the Vestige Verdant Organic Peat Mask, Facial Mask. These three complete the range.
Overall I am impressed with these products; the ingredients are unique, well sought after and combined are very powerful. Vestige Verdant is truly a luxury organic product.
Starting the year of strong I am off to Sydney for a week to go to the Ultra Music Festival. After going to Coachella twice I like to think I know a thing or two about traveling to festivals and what to pack.
Being prepared is the best way to make sure you have everything, to be relaxed and if you have some goals, being prepared will help you stick to them. For me 2019 is all about being healthy, but also saving money! This girl wants to go to Tomorrowland music festival in 2020 and Europe = money!
Here is what I am packing to help me slay those goals!
Protein Bars - I am taking Nature Valley Protein Bars with me for Ultra. Not just for me, but i'm being smart enough to take two boxes, 8 bars, because let's face it, AJ will be jealous. One box Peanut & Chocolate and the other Salted Caramel Nut.
Festivals are awesome places but on whole the food can be below average and expensive. Now if I am going to spend money on hot chips, well I want the worlds best hot chips, so naturally I like to avoid festival food. These bars by Nature Valley contain 20% of your daily protein needs and are my go to. Packing a Nature Valley Protein bar not only saves me from average hot chips but I am getting a protein dose with some nature carbs and fats from peanuts and almonds helping fuel my day without compromising.
A Side Bag - Okay this is key, but hey, you’ve gotta have something to stash those bars in! So something small, but not to small and because I’m overseas and limited I am packing two styles which will see me day to night. So I have my crossbody go to, and option number two is a bum bag/ chest bag so I have options but can also be “hands free”
Sunscreen - Yes I know, everyone says pack sunscreen but, everyone always forgets! You can’t see it in my suitcase but sunscreen it’s there! I also try and pick up a sample size or a mini from Mecca so that I have a mini to go. Honestly, you only have one skin so let’s look after it! The same goes for those lips! A Chapstick or such with SPF is a must.
Cash - Notice at gigs that cash bars tend to be faster? I’m not saying take hundreds in cash but do take a small amount so buying water becomes a breeze. you don’t want to spend all that money to just stand in line right? Another reason why I suggest the snacks! Having cash also means you can stick to budget and follow those saving goals!
Here you have it! Little things I am doing to make the most of my travels!

This year I want to cook more, and eat out less, I also want to make this process as easy as possible!
Living alone and being a rather social butterfly, cooking was low on my list. I cook because I have to, not because I want to and after a long day at the office, coming home and walking the dog, well time is limited. I also want something with variety. I dip my toes into recipes but always end up cooking the same thing over and over again and well that isn't fun. I went through a stage of heat and eat meals but to really live my best and healthiest life I knew I needed to start cooking.
Nowadays there's so many kinds of food delivery services like these and since I've had the opportunity to try HelloFresh the other week and LOVED it, I wanted to share the meals I made with you, as well as highlight the reasons why HelloFresh works for me. Especially on the convenience and variety front!
HelloFresh is new to the market in New Zealand but a service I have seen some of my American health and wellness babes use, so naturally, I was keen to try. It's such a great way to learn how to cook dinners and no ingredient will go to waste. It promises nutritionally balanced recipes based on seasonal farm fresh ingredients delivered every week to your front door, or office which is what I did.
I choose the classic plan for two - with four meals included. I felt like this would be the most flexible for me allowing my boyfriend to join me some nights, left overs for lunch, or if I’m game I could invite a guest over. I always have my parents over for dinners early in the week, and have a few social events so four nights seems a good number for me personally. It needs to work for me.
Things I liked most about Hello Fresh
For me, the website was super simple to use and the sign-up process was a breeze. The items arrived in brown paper bags with colour coded stickers to recipe cards and I loved that I could work with the schedule. Some services arrive on Sundays….and well that doesn’t work for me so I can choose that day that does work - like Monday.
I'm going out of town in a few weeks, and it was extremely simple for me to pause, change and swap my delivery day, not to mention you can also swap meals around to ensure you are getting something you want! It just makes everything so easy and convenient.
I also loved that it pushed me out of my comfort zone and had me try new, seasonal foods.
Overall: I like HelloFresh. It works with my lifestyle, I can mix and match and it isn’t all meat and veggies! Im hanging out for the nachos and can’t wait to see what is in store next!
My Treat To You - Try HelloFresh
Do you like to cook? And have you tried this kind of delivery service before? If you haven’t, I’m treating you to a $35 off your first HelloFresh box! Use my code MODERNGIRL or click here.
When I first heard about the Sculptural Facial Massage at Skinography I was excited. This facial is Hailed by countless celebrities worldwide like Meghan Markle, Kate Moss & Keira Knightly as their go-to Red carpet & Royal wedding skin prep. I was nervous however when Kate told me I would need to say “Aah”.
Kate from Skinography is the only Facialist in New Zealand to hold the Advanced certification in this method and I am beyond proud of her. Earlier this year she followed her dreams and travelled to Los Angeles to train under internationally acclaimed Russian specialist Yakov Gershkovich, in his The Sculptural Facial Massage technique.
This practice involves Osteopathy, Cranialsacral, Deep Tissue as well as Lympatic drainage philosophies. The Sculptural Facial Massage technique restructures, sculpts and redefines the jawline + cheekbones to create a chiseled effect. Touted as the ultimate facelift alternative without going under the knife.
What is The Sculptural Facial?
Facial muscles are manipulated by massaging deep inside the cheek and jaw area to sit higher, creating a more lifted structure + defined facial contours. Lymphatic drainage effectively removes toxins, draining and eliminating puffiness + fluid retention while increasing blood circulation. This encourages more nutrition rich & oxygenated blood to flow freely, feeding the skin cells + muscle tissue, improving regeneration + restoration of skin and facial tissues. Tighten sagging skin and wind back the years.
The 60 minute treatment is very hands on, intense but feels great, Kate preformed a range of lifting movements. Vigorous but effective. After she has worked my face, my jawline, even my lips it turns buccal - this is the bit where I say “Aah:.
I was scared at first but it is fine, your teeth are closed, and it is relaxing as the inside of the mouth, lips and jawline where mimical muscles are deeply massaged and tension released.
The result, my face was more alive, cheeks higher, a glow and contoured jawline. I was blown away! It was a true workout for my face and I will be booking again!
I loved it, LOVED IT, and will be booking again. Just like a workout I feed the effects on day two.
I just had the massage only, but will be booking for the Full Facial and Massage next time.
$280 | 60 Minutes - Massage only
$340 | 90 Minutes - Full Facial + Massage
Kate is amazing, I am super proud of her work and watching her grow and thrilled to call her a friend.
Christmas is coming and this year I am very much thinking about what gifts I am giving, and if gifts are even necessary? So rather than be a grinch and say NO to gifts, this year I am being smart with my shopping. Picking items that will create memories, be used for self love, and more.
Here are some of my favourite gifts to allow for Self-Love.
1. Skinography Facial Voucher - I actually got this for my mum. If you have someone who deserves some time out, some RnR and the very best then I suggest Kate at Skinography. My mother is the perfect person and I am hoping this starts her off on a skin journey. What I like about Kate’s voucher is it comes in a box so I’m not just giving mum an envelope under the tree.
2. SodaStream - This is a gift that people do not realise they need it until they have it. I now couldn’t imagine life without my Sodastream. It encourages me to drink more water and stay away from juices or diet sodas when I need to quench my thirst. With Sodastream you are not just giving a machine but much more - SodaStream is a fantastic way to save you money long-term and reduce your environmental impact and drink more water!
3. L’OCCITANE and The New Zealand Blind Foundation - Give a gift that is more than a gift. This month, for every 150ml Shea Butter Hand Cream sold in New Zealand L’OCCITANE will be donating $1 back to the Blind Foundation to support the practical and emotional assistance they provide for the tens of thousands of kiwis who are blind or have low vision. It doesn’t just stop there at L’OCCITANE. This Christmas, CASTELBAJAC Paris and L’OCCITANE have designed a collection which features the constellation of values that demonstrates the strong commitments of the L’OCCITANE Brand. I love it, because as I look at this limited edition collection I know I have invested in a brand that gives back, gives more.
4. Trade Me Kindness Store - If you have extra money this year, then head to the Trade Me Kindness Store, buy a gift for the charity of your choice, and Trade Me will make sure it gets to them – easy peasy way to get involved and help out The Starship Foundation, Women's Refuge, and the SPCA. I made a purchase and I encourage you all to do what you can.
5. Chapter Bag - Im not vegan, not even vegetarian but I am a dog lover and love the idea of vegan leather. Chapter Handbags are vegan handbags, which are stunning, affordable and must have’s this Christmas! I have one and I cannot get enough, I also feel incredible knowing it’s vegan.
6. CLIQUE Fitness Tights - Everyone must have a pair of these tights. I am serious. I have 4 pairs and if you know someone who isn’t on that Clique buzz then getting them a pair of tights will be the best gift you can give. CLIQUE Tights last, they are high waisted, they stay put and feel secure. They provide full coverage during squats, lunges and while bending over. They do it all and make the perfect gift.
Okay, That is it for now! If you have any other suggestions please just let me know!
I am off to Bali shortly , and after three years of sponsorship by Worldcare travel insurance, I decided this time I would ‘Shop Around’ just to make sure I was getting a policy to best suit my needs. Ironically, even after my comparisons, it ended up that Worldcare travel insurance was still able to provide the most suitable cover and I remain delighted to be be able to continue my support for the brand.
While in Bali, I have a feeling we will be hiring a scooter. My partner rides a motorcycle everyday and when it comes to simple transport it will be a great option. It might not happen of course, we might not even touch a scooter but I want to be on holiday with peace of mind.
As I was looking at different policies I was comparing prices and what they stood for. It wasn’t until I read the small print attached to all the polices that I realised several differences. This highlighted to me the importance of reading the small print when it comes to travel insurance.
Firstly, what exactly is travel insurance?
Basically, travel insurance is designed to cover unexpected medical emergencies and events such as trip cancellation, your personal effects, lost, stolen or damaged luggage by an airline, and other related losses incurred while traveling. You never know what could happen am I right?!
What and who are you insuring?
Which travel insurance policy is best for you? Make sure you know what your needs are and your situation, even if some of it is a loose idea, it will help! With Bali I kinda jotted it all down, a quick overview.
Where are you traveling to?
How are you traveling? Flights, rental cars etc.
What activities will you be doing – Skiing, ski diving, or other adventurous activities? (I don’t think I will be Skiing in Bali haha!)
Length of trip
Who are you traveling with - kids?
Value of the goods you are taking with you
A note on that last point, more is less! For Bali I am leaving all my rings and special jewellery at home and I really don’t need to be taking my Laptop now do I.
Now with this all in mind check out those details, those exclusions.
So let’s take my Bali trip as an example. I am traveling with my partner to Bali. It will be two weeks long, Nothing crazy is happening. Snorkling and Scooter riding is a possibility. We will not be taking much with us, but I will have my Canon Camera with me and AJ has Go-Pro. The Policy I have gone with is the Worldcare GoComprehensive Travel Insurance Plan and P.S This is the third year in a row (Why I shop around is beyond me!)
Now AJ and I might rent a scooter in Bali, we might not, but we might just so this was a consideration for me.
Upon reading the fine print of the polices I was interested in I found many differences between polices around Scooter or Moped hirage and what the policy covers.
This policy does not cover any loss, damage, liability, death or incapacity directly or indirectly caused by or arising from:
24. riding a moped or motorcycle (whether as driver or passenger) in any of the following circumstances: i. where the engine capacity is more than 200cc; or ii. without a helmet; or iii. without a valid driver’s licence as required in the country you are in.
Now as I was shopping around I found this to be a considerable point of difference between brands. For SCTI - You need to be aware that moped is an optional add on to your policy, it isn’t included for that ‘just in case’ moment and another brand I struggled to find reference at all.
This is just one example and super specific to me, but It does make a great example of why you should read the fine print. Also if we do get a scooter in Bali, I will be checking it fits to this policy, again, just in case.
Now I know this isn’t the most exciting blog topic EVER but It is important, really important. Yes you should spend the money on travel insurance, and since you are read the fine print, get it right, do it properly and feel rest assured.
Now thanks to Worldcare, who are sponsoring this post I have a discount code for 10% off for you. Just use the code MODERN10 and you are good to go! A wee disclaimer is found on the end of this blog.
I am beyond excited about Bali and nothing is going to stop me!

Before making a decision please consider the policy wording. 10% discount offer is valid for online purchases only and expires on 21/12/19. 10% discount applies to Worldcare standard pricing and any additional premium for pre-existing medical cover but does not apply to any additional premium for specified items or other discounted offers.
