You need to know what kind of food ingredients are good for your dog. If you are giving them commercially available dog food then you need to read the ingredients’ list on food packet to pick the right food for your furry friend. In this article, we will be telling you some of the best dog food ingredients to feed your dog to ensure its better health and to make right purchasing decisions.
By far the healthiest and important food for dogs is meat. It is a staple in a dog’s diet. They get most of their energy and protein from meat such as chicken, fish, beef, and rabbit. Most of the commercial dog food gets the protein from real meat sources. It is mostly written as the word ‘’meat meal’’ on the label. So make sure you pick the food that has meal written on it.
2) Fruits and Vegetables
In order to ensure a balanced diet, you need to give them a fair amount of fruits and vegetables. In fruits, you can give them apples, carrots, cranberries, and blueberries. Apples provide them with fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. Cranberries can be helpful in dental hygiene as they can kill certain bacteria and also can help with urinary tract infection in dogs. While blueberries are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, E, and fiber. These are an amazing treat for your dog but don’t feed too much of these as it can cause diarrhea. Give vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and sweet potatoes to your dog to boost its energy and improve the overall health. Broccoli is anti-carcinogen and can relieve many skin and heart conditions especially among older dogs. Carrots can be an amazing snack for your dog. It has vitamin B, C, K and fiber in it.
3) Mineral Salt
Dogs need salt in a very small amount to fulfill their mineral requirements. The best super nutritious and pure salt is Himalayan pink salt. Visit this website below to know more about this salt. It is packed with 84 minerals and trace elements which includes iodine, calcium, zinc, potassium iron, and manganese. These minerals are very good for your dog’s health. It helps in digestion, lowering blood pressure, building strong bones, balancing pH level, and most importantly reduces water retention in dogs. You can either pour it onto the food or use it in the form of salt licks which are simply the blocks of salt. It is very easy for the dog to lick these mineral salt licks.
Dogs need vitamins in different small quantities depending on their overall diet for growth and maintenance. Some of the needed vitamins are vitamin A, B, C, D, E, K, and Choline. They help with metabolism, digestion and also help to keep blood cells healthy. B-vitamins include biotin, folate, pyridoxine, niacin, riboflavin, and beta-carotene. Vitamin A is very good for the dog’s skin and coat. Vitamin E is helpful for your dog’s better immune system.

The Giraffe; the worlds tallest animal on land. They are graceful, beautiful creatures with long legs that allow them to run up to 35 miles an hour and for a span of 10 miles. It is always an incredible experience seeing these animals in real life because of the elegance they portray.
According to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the giraffe is now on the endangered species list. We have seen a 40% drop in population since 1985. They are now facing an even bigger threat of extinction than the elephant.
Why such drastic losses? Oliver Milman reports in The Guardian that "giraffes have suffered from loss of habitat, disease and illegal hunting for bushmeat. They also face the risk of collisions with vehicles and power lines. But the petitioners argue that the species is facing added pressure from “trophy” hunters who travel to Africa to shoot their big-game quarry. These hunters overwhelmingly come from the US."
“There’s a strong tendency to think that familiar species (such as giraffes, chimps, etc.) must be OK because they are familiar and we see them in zoos,” Duke University conservation biologist Stuart Pimm, tells the Associated Press. In fact, giraffes have silently been going extinct across Africa over the last century. The animal is already gone from seven countries, Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Guinea, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria and Senegal. (Earth First Journal by Jason Daley)
Now through the end of May, a portion of profits from Gilbert the Farting Giraffe will be made to the Giraffe Conservation Organization. They are the only NGO in the world that concentrates on the conservation of giraffe in the wild through Africa.

These animals are too precious to slip away. No matter how small, we want to help to protect these magnificent creatures from the harm that has so unfairly impacted them these past decades. The Giraffe Conservation Organization may be found here. Feel free to donate directly to them if you please! You can also participate in their "Adopt a Giraffe" program and donate as little as $5/month.
Tis the season for pumpkin everything. Pumpkin latte, pumpkin creamers, pumpkin muffins, and did we mention, pumpkin dog treats?
Pumpkin is a healthy and ideal snack for your pup. It is high in fiber and water content, which is great for the digestive system and preventing constipation. A spoonful in your dogs regular food may also assist with diarrhea issues. Ideally 1-4 tablespoons a day is great, but don't overfeed to avoid overload of fiber.
From One Sweet Appetite, here is a simple and fun recipe you can make right in your own kitchen.
