Those of you who know me really well, know coffee is my thing! – I usually consume three by 11am! As you can imagine as a coffee connoisseur, I’m always looking for the best when it comes to homebrew and last week, I got up close and personal with De’Longhi’s Maestosa machine at a unique multi-sensory experience held in a private suite.
As I walked into the suite, I was warmly greeted by Maria of the De’Longhi team who demonstrated the machine. The machine boasts a rather impressive, two bean container – perfect if you and your partner/housemates enjoy different roasts, as well as a ground bean container if you prefer your coffee decaff. But, the personalisation doesn’t stop at the bean! As you can select via touchscreen a selection of 19 coffees (included iced and cold brew) and tailor everything from the level of foam, coffee strength and temperature – Pure coffee perfection!
The Adaptive Grinding Technology with Electronic grinding regulation allows for precise, consistent and easy to set grinding, as well as long-lasting performance, preparation after preparation.
And for those who enjoy a milky coffee, the machine offers a swivel arm which aligns with the coffee filter to add both elements to your cup at once. It’s also fully compatible with alternative milks, such as Oat and Allmond – Perfect for is healthy bods!
It’s also extremely easy to clean after numerous uses, providing a steam clean function – So no need to take parts over to the sink to clean or cleaning capsules.
Next, I was taken to another part of the suite to meet world Class Chef, Jozef Youssef to create a pairing dessert. Jozef asked me to pick a coffee from two menus, I went for a coffee with chocolate and caramel notes. Jozef then asked me to select ingredients which complimented the coffee. A highlight of the experience was creating ‘Coffee Caviar’, which looked incredible with the finished masterpiece.
Finally, I got to make my own three-layered cappuccino to pair with my dessert. I adjusted the temperature on the touchscreen as I knew I’d want to take photos of it being made and didn’t want it to get cold while I was snapping away!
Thank you De’Longhi for adding a touch of class to my morning!
#ad *Please note this surgery was in collaboration with Bella Vou, and I was a model for them to create a case studies from.
For those of you who follow my gym and fitness challenge progress over on Instagram, you’ll know that I’m an avid fitness enthusiast. However, down to my genetics, metabolism and hernia (of which I had on my belly button), my abdomen is an area I’ve struggled to create a toned/athletic look in from fitness and diet alone.
VASERLipo is an advanced body sculpting procedure that eliminates fat to gently reshape your body, making you look and feel your best. It’s an alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, in the sense that it has the ability to target fat while leaving other important tissues intact.
After a few email exchanges with their Marketing Manager, in which the team assessed a few body images I shared, I was invited down to Bella Vou for a consultation with Amir.
During the consultation, Amir took a thorough look and feel around my abdominal and chest area to understand how much subcutaneous and visceral fats required thinning and shaping in order to reveal and enhance my abdominal and under chest area. Amir discussed in great detail how VASERLipo works, what to expect on the operation day, the importance of recovery and the desired and realistic outcome he would be looking to achieve.
I was also able to meet the lovely Noula, the Clinic Manager who had recently gone through the surgery herself at Bella Vou and was able to share her results as well as providing first-hand tips and advice ahead of the procedure.
I wanted to ensure I was fully prepped for the surgery and had everything I needed, as I knew post-op I would require downtime at home to relax, so I booked 10 days off work. To prepare for the surgery I did a big clothes shop where I purchased a selection of large and oversized, sweaters, t-shirts and jogging bottoms, comfortable slippers and underwear to wear over the compression foam and garments. I also did a big Ocado shop to ensure I was eating a balanced and low-fat diet in the days following my surgery.
The clinic kindly put me up in a local and luxury boutique hotel, a stone’s throw away from the clinic called One Warick Park – (Make sure to ask Bella Vou about their special £99 per night partner rates!).
I walked over to Bella Vou and arrived for 10am, and was greeted by Amir along with my aftercare MLD therapist, Nicola. After having a selection of ‘before’ photographs taken, Amir marked me out for surgery using a colour-coded sharpie system and I was dressed for theatre. I also met the anaesthetist who would be looking after me throughout the procedure for a pre-surgery assessment.
Once in theatre, Joy – the Operation Department Practitioner coated my body in an antibacterial solution, to avoid any risk of infection. I then laid on the surgery table where the team ensured I was comfortable before the anaesthetist hooked me up to a drip via my hand and nostrils and put me under twilight sedation.
Amir then made insertions and filled my fatty areas with a saline solution, containing local anaesthetic, this then numbed and expanded the fatty layer and contracted the blood vessels, reducing the risk of damage and bleeding.
Small incisions were then made on both my nipples, belly button, chest and pubic line and ultrasound waves were fired into the fatty layer to make tiny bubbles in the solution. The bubbles then expanded to nearly 2cm and acted as mini crowbars forcing the fat cells apart.
Next came the sculpting. With the fat cells now well and truly broken apart, they were carefully removed from my body to create my new shape. The surgery took around three hours, although it felt like 40 minutes – one hour! (thanks to the twilight sedation).
Once the surgery was over, I was hooked up to three drainage tubes to wear for the following 24 hours to ensure all the saline solution and any remaining melted fat had left my body, for the best possible chance of creating the maximum results.
Following the surgery, I was dressed in a compression foam and garment by the Bella Vou team. Worn correctly and this can be extremely beneficial to the reduction of swelling. The garments have to be worn for up to a month, day and night following surgery so it’s imperative to purchase two to three to ensure you always have a fresh one on rotation. I purchased mine from Amazon, from a company called LipoElastic. I’m 5’11 and went for a Medium. I’d highly recommend this brand as they are the leaders in this type of garment and after a few days, I got used to wearing the garments.
Luckily, as Bella Vou was in my hometown I was able to stay close to the clinic. It’s extremely important to do this as you require daily 60-minute drainage and lymphatic massages for a consecutive week to reduce swelling and release any remaining fluid from the body. MLD uses methods such as specifically tuned ultrasound energy to preserve connective tissue, which is clinically proven to enhance skin retraction and reduce blood loss.
The massages are performed at Bella Vou by the wonderful MLD certified (Manual lymphatic drainage) therapist, Nicola. MLD massage is included within Bella Vou’s aftercare, something not all clinics offer.
In terms of diet, the aftercare notes suggested I stuck to a healthy eating plan. I ate a lot of mashed up baked potatoes with either tuna or salmon, to build up my protein and on the night of the surgery, I drank Lucozade to start putting sugar and glucose back into my body. I’ll be sharing more of my post-VASERLipo diet and fitness regime in my next blog post.
Coming in the next two months… Watch this space for part two!

You might have heard of Acqua di Parma’s exquisite fragrances, but now the Italian cosmetics brand have now created a range of luxury shaving products we’d be proud to leave out on our bathroom surface.
The Barberi range, Italian for Barber has recently re-launched the collection, inclusive of a complete product and packaging overhaul.
The products have been re-designed with the various stages of the grooming routine in mind; shaving, aftershave, beard care and facial treatment, all now scented with the fresh light tones of Colonia.
AD*Please note this is a sponsored post between Fragrance Direct and Mr Thirty-Something.
Now March is officially here, and we’ve worked hard on ourselves over January and February to create a ‘new year, new us’ it’s time to think about a scent that represents the end of product and the best versions of ourselves we want to portray, whether that be on a Hinge date or starting a new job, smelling good and feeling good is what the rest of 2019 is all about.
Therefore, I’ve collaborated once again with the fantastic online fragrance store, Fragrance Direct to bring to you, the 6 most exciting men’s fragrance launches of late. So, without further ado…
When urban meets nature. BVLGARI MAN – Wood Essence is a warm, wood and inviting aroma. Towards the end of the test spray, citrus notes came through for a clean finish. Absolutely one for the ‘woody’ scent aficionados out there.
Much like YVES SAINT LAURENT menswear, this fragrance is sophisticated and expressive. The Y edition is designed with the Y man in mind, he likes to wear crisp white shirts and probably sticks to a plant-based diet. Notes of geranium lavender fused with sensual tonka bean make for a perfect everyday signature fragrance, which will definitely get the right attention.
If you’re into more herby fragrances such as Jo Malone Herb Garden Collection, this fragrance is one for you. With notes of sage and rosemary, sweetened with vanilla and the masculine and exotic scent of leather this scent packs as much punch as a superhero (hence the super in the title). One for special occasions or for the expressive gent.
Ok, hands down this one wins the design aesthetic award. This is certainly a spring fragrance, offering notes of bergamot, musk and spiced wood it’s the perfect spring fragrance and isn’t overbearing, making it a good daytime go-to. It’s fresh, classy and unpretentious. A perfect gift, if you’re looking for a good and delightful all-rounder.
I was a big fan of Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce back in the day, so was excited to try out their latest release in the form of First Instinct Blue. The fragrance has everything I loved about Fierce, but I feel it’s developed with the changing of my age and more sophisticated and subtle. The usual notes of frozen apple paired with amber tonic, sandalwood and cardamom fuse together to create a thrilling and fearless fragrance, and will be one of the fragrances I will be reaching for daily from my dresser. Good to have you back in my life Abercrombie!
A charismatic fragrance for a charismatic gent! Grey is a combination of citrus and earthy notes such as grapefruit and cardamom. Once the fragrance settles, notes of tobacco and amber come through. A combination that creates a modern and elegant fragrance, perfect for date night – A real evening scent.

As we move into a new chapter with the exciting relaunch of Mr Thirty-Something! it’s time to bring back a few of the things that built up this blog to what it is today and reclaim my crown as one of the top grooming bloggers in the UK. Therefore, I will be reintroducing my ‘new grooming products’ round-ups – Sharing my top six latest finds across beauty and grooming launches. Here’s the first one of 2019…
This relatively new men’s grooming brand is making its mark on the grooming industry offering quality British-made grooming essentials, at fair prices. Costing just £15 for an all seasons 100ml moisturiser, the creamy yet lightweight formula glides and blends onto the face leaving a protective and rehydrating layer to face the day. It contains Hyaluronic acid known to replicate natural skin cells to maintain skin hydration, plump and diminish fine lines.
Last year I attended the House 99 by David Beckham launch party at Harvey Nichols and I was keen to check out the products. One of the products which I’ve been using for a while now is the Eye Balm. After spending what feels like an eternity to find an undereye product to diminish my dark undereye circles I think I may have found the answer! The balm is enriched with Spirulina and Quinoa extracts to lighten and brighten the under eye area – One to pack in your hand luggage and pop on before landing so you’re airport fresh!
I am a HUGE facemask fan and often frequent in the activity of ‘masking’, so am also looking for new face mask brands I haven’t discovered before that are not called Glamglow! (borderline obsessed). Besides of course the packaging porn with Sand & Sky, enriched with Australian botanicals and made in Melbourne, this clay mask detoxes, tightens pores and invigorates skin for an instantly boosted radiance, almost like you’ve spent a day in the Australian sunshine.
Hats off to the product development team over at Regal Gentleman! I picked up a sample of their new Matte Clay at the Gentleman’s Grooming Show and I’ve been using it ever since. Offering a matte finish and medium hold, what I like about this product is that you actually only need a minimal amount to smooth down a parting and texture hair and unlike some products I’ve used in the past, the clay holds all day and reduces frizz, which let’s face it in January weather is an absolute godsend!
Before I had a beard, I never cared for specialised beard products, however, after receiving a bit of feedback from a few lucky partkissipants, it transpired that my beard was pretty corse! Using hair shampoo and conditioner on my beard was leaving my skin quite tight and dry, so I gave Brisk Beard Shampoo ago after kindly being gifted a few products from the range by the PR team. Aside from smelling great, the shampoo lathers up in the shower and settles the hairs leaving them soft and manageable. It also doesn’t strip the oils or irritate your skin as is completely paraben and sulphate free.
Redken launched its Brews After Shave Balm towards the end of last year and for someone like me who has sensitive neck hair, which grows in a few different directions (hence always getting nicked) it’s the launch I was waiting for. Infused with Aloe Vera its lightweight, fast-absorbing formula quickly and efficiently heals any redness caused by razors, while calming and adding essential oils back into the skin.
*Please note EVERY product within this blog post was sent by either the brand direct or the PR agency who represent them. They were sent with intent of review and photographic purposes.
Before I headed for the Hollywood Hills, I was invited for a weekend at The Grove – London’s County estate with Volvo for a weekend of ‘Lagom’ living.
If you’re not familiar with Lagom, it is a lifestyle adopted by Swedes and essential means all good things in moderation – not too little, not too much. Lagom is usually adopted by groups of people, so Volvo split us into three groups; Cuisine, Fashion and Fitness. I was assigned the cuisine trail, which included baking cinnamon buns with Swedish cookery writer and owner of Scandi Kitchen, Brontë Aurell, a FIKA picnic at in the picturesque College Lake Nature Reserve and an Aquavit mixology masterclass hosted by Jon Anders Fjeldsrud.
The evening had in store a Swedish banquet complete with meatballs and gravy! and then the next day it was time to explore The Grove grounds and the luxury country house spa, as well as a champagne breakfast – well, they did say all good things in moderation!
Thank you to Volvo and Frank PR for hosting the weekend and giving me the opportunity to test drive the new Volvo XC40 SUV.

They say you’re never fully dressed without a fragrance and it’s true, the last thing I do before I leave the house every day is immerse myself in one of my favourite fragrances.
I’ve always had a love affair with fragrances from an early age and I guess what initially drew me in was the elegance and the emotions and memories they evoked. I always enjoy gifting fragrance at Christmas, as it’s such a personal gift and means the giver has considered the recipient’s personality and scents they are drawn too.
When it comes to purchasing such gifts and the high cost of fragrances in department stores, I like to shop around online to get the best prices for the most luxury of fragrances. This year, leading fragrance retailer Fragrance Direct has created an online personal shopping experience ‘Festive Fragrance Wonderland’, where they have broken down their gift guide into three categories; For Him, For Her and New In.
Below is The Discerning Man ‘Festive Fragrance Wonderland’ edit from these categories:
Boss is known for their seductive and masculine fragrances. With top notes of Ginger, heart notes of Mocha & Cocoa Boss for Him, Private Accord is the perfect Winter fragrance for the sophisticated man.
If you can’t afford the Chloe handbag for her this year, the Chloe Signature Gift Set is the next best thing. The gift set includes the 50ml Eau de Parfum Spray and 100ml Body Lotion and is perfect for women who are drawn to a floral fragrance as Chloe is blooming with the scent of fresh powdery roses.
With top notes of Wood Leather, Patchouli Oil Heart Notes and Vetiver Base Notes, Gucci Guilty is aimed at a gentleman who likes a woody and leathery fragrance, over citrus and florals. It’s sexy, masculine and perfect for date night.

On Saturday 17th November, I was invited down to The Gentleman’s Grooming & Lifestyle Show at London’s Truman Brewery by headline sponsor, Just For Men.
If you’re not familiar with the event, it’s the UK’s premier exhibition exclusively dedicated to men’s grooming & lifestyle, showcasing the very best grooming brands, new launches and live demonstrations from top industry and barbering talent.
I was joined on the day by fellow male bloggers, The Wade Twins, Sam Grey, Carl Thompson (AKA Hawkins & Shepherd) and The Yorkshire Gentleman.
After browsing the various exhibitors, which included Geoff Stocker, Neat Nutrition and Morgan M and satisfying our pallets with Murray McDavid whisky, it was time to watch a live Just For Men Moustache and Beard demo, with Manchester-based barber Carlie Firth AKA @Ruger_Barber.
Carlie took us through a demonstration with a bearded model who had a light brown beard, with a naturally lighter patch of hair around the mouth. She demonstrated how easy it was for gents to use Just for Men Moustache & Beard to enhance their natural beard colour in just 5-minutes, giving the appearance of a fuller and thicker moustache and beard.
I personally started using Just For Men Moustache & Beard at the beginning of this year, so it was beneficial to experience a live demonstration from Carlie, to learn industry insider tips on how to apply, developing time, methods for covering greys and what shade to go for (always start with a shade lighter than your natural beard colour).
Following the live demonstration, myself and the other male bloggers sat down for an intimate Q&A with Carlie where we had the chance to fire some beard and hair related questions to her. We discussed, how you should start on the grey or lighter areas of the moustache and beard when using Just For Men Moustache and Beard, and how Vaseline is a great barrier when it comes to ensuring the colour doesn’t go onto the skin.
Once the Q&A wrapped up, we were given a Just For Men goody bag containing Just For Men Moustache & Beard colour, as well as some of their other hair colour products and a very exciting recent grooming product launch from Just For Men! Which I’ll be sharing with you shortly…
The Just For Men Moustache & Beard is available to buy nationwide from Boots, Superdrug, most major Supermarkets and Wilkos – Remember to perform the allergy patch test 48 hours before each use.
*This is a sponsored collaboration with Just for Men, although this is sponsored content, all opinions are my own and not those of the brand

When it comes to Christmas shopping, I always enjoy a tailored experience all under one roof. As much as I enjoy the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street, it can be timely and hit and miss, so a curated selection of shops in one destination gets my vote every year.
My mum is one of the hardest people to buy for, as she is eccentric and flamboyant, but also quite fussy! Therefore, when it comes to Christmas shopping for her I must have the confidence in the products I’m purchasing to ensure she will enjoy opening them on Christmas day.
This year, armed with a £100 St Pancras International gift card, I headed to St Pancras International for a premium shopping experience like no other. St Pancras International station is a destination in its own right and a convenient shopping location for Londoners, commuters, and tourists alike. With style boutiques such as Jo Malone, White Company, Fortnum & Mason and Chanel to pick from, I knew I would leave with a selection of gifts perfect for the most important woman in my life.
I spent a few hours taking in the vast range of beautiful shops and displays on offer (I probably smelt over 50 candles!) I made purchases from John Lewis, Accessorize and Jo Malone. This included:
A Star headband and knitted scarf from Accessorize (£36)
Jo Malone Festive Pink Eucalyptus candle (£44)
Rose Quartz jewellery Stacker from John Lewis (£20)
I found the shopping experience tailored and that the products in the small boutiques offered the best items from the brands for a curated shopping experience with professional customer service.
In between shops I checked out the now infamous St Pancras International 43ft luxury Christmas tree, which this year has been sponsored by Tiffany & Co and Coty, and features 600 perfume bottle replicas of Tiffany & Co.’s Signature Eau de Parfum fragrance, 600 handcrafted paper Iris flowers with Tiffany Blue® detail and 600 elegantly designed white, silver and Tiffany Blue® baubles.
I also stopped off at the stunning and Europe’s longest champagne bar, Searcys Champagne Bar to experience the limited edition festive cocktail, in collaboration with Tiffany & Co. The cocktail, inspired by the Tiffany & Co. Eau De Parfum is sophisticated yet vibrant with an added twist of Mandarin Liqueur and topped with Veuve Clicquot and costs £18.50.
Another iconic and after a festive makeover thanks to the John Lewis Christmas advert, are the St Pancras International pianos, played previously by the likes of Elton John and no word of a lie, someone was playing ‘Your Song’ when it walked past!
As the crisp, Autumnal mornings are upon us and summer wardrobes have been packed away to be seen again in another year, it’s time to start investing in Autumn/Winter fashion that will see you through the seasons until Spring. Personally, Autumn is my favourite season. I always enjoy shopping Autumn styles, reflective of the natural tones of the changing nature landscapes and cosy materials to make you feel snug.
On a blissful Saturday morning, when the air was crisp and the sun was peaking through the clouds, I headed down to Hamstead Heath with blogger, Sam Grey to shoot three of my key Autumn trends. All of which are available from the high street at great value prices.
The biggest tip I can give you about investing in key pieces that will last the colder seasons would be – Shop around! Ensure that the items are of good quality and made well enough to keep you warm. Of course, laying is an option but you can’t beat a well made knit, which instantly warms your body up and protects you from the elements.
Roll neck – H&M, £24.99
Harris Tweed X Primark bomber: £50
Jeans: Nudie, £120
I love the texture and tone of this chunky roll neck from H&M, it’s off-white enough to not be blinding, but against dark or blonde features is a really striking knit. The bomber, which was part of the Haris Tweed X Primark collaboration, sits nicely over the knit not taking away from the roll neck detail. The jeans…OK! I get £120 is a lot to spend on jeans! But…they fit like a glove, which is Nudies mantra and are so versatile with Autumnal fashion. I also went for a raw denim over a stretch denim as these tend to be a lot thicker, making them the perfect choice.
I’m notoriously fussy when it comes to prints, but I adore this jumper from Superdry. The subtle Fairisle pattern offers a nice AW look, which will stand out for all the right reasons. I like the way the colours of the jumper have been perfectly matched and how one the sleeves is adorned with a Superdry logo. The fit is also nice and slim fit, something I’m very aware of when shopping knits as I never want to look frumpy.
Something comes over me in AW, where I take on this American lumberjack persona – We’ll call him Jerry. But, seriously this is one of my favourite looks. Double denim, with a lumberjack shirt thrown over it for extra style and warmth with a nice pair of boots and you’re away (to go and chop some wood).
Thanks for reading, I’ll be following this up with a Winter Style Lookbook in the coming months.
