Mark 11:23 says, For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
One of the hardest things for a person to do is to try and figure out how to remove that mountain. It appears the longer we stare at it; it becomes bigger doesn’t it? We’re thinking about what if we went around that mountain. Could that mountain be chiseled down? We think of everything that we can think of, only to discover that it’s hopeless.
The Lord tells us that we must speak the word and have faith for that mountain will be cast down? So why does it take us to long to figure it out? We spend most of our energy yelling at that mountain. We may even cry over this mountain. We may get mad at God for we want God to move that mountain out of our way.
Regardless of what we might do in front of that mountain we need to remember that God is wanting us to exercise our faith. One can say all day long that they have faith, but until you use it you don’t have faith. Faith is an action.
When you’re out sightseeing mountains are beautiful but when it comes to the mountains in our lives, they aren’t so lovely. God always has a lesson for us to learn even with the mountains in our lives.
Psalms 34:19 says” the righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.
I chose this photo for this topic because we all can relate to how the afflictions makes us feel. In the photo you see how unmovable the young woman is? That is how our spirit man is to be, unmovable.
I do believe at times we forget that the Lord will deliver us out from them all. We tend to focus on all the afflictions we are facing. And how God is going to deliver us. We shouldn’t be so consumed on our troubles nor how God will deliver and when. The way the Lord delivered you the last time might not be the same way this time. Didn’t God tell us that His ways are not ours?
This is a promise that the Lord is telling you and me. He first tells us that we are going to many problems. But notice that He says, many are the afflictions of the righteous. The word righteous means being in right relationship with God.
The righteous suffer afflictions because we are not perfectly righteous. We need purging, purifying, chastening, to rid us of the dross and defilement of sin which still clings to us while we continue in the flesh. “We must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God” It is through the suffering that we are made perfect. God removes the afflictions with which He has visited us or allowed us to be visited. Ultimately, when He takes us to Himself, mercifully delivering us out of them all.
Philippians 2:14 says” Do all things without grumbling or questioning,
Ephesians 4:29 says” Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
One of the hardest things for us to do is to not complain. We can think of every little thing to complain about, can’t we? We wake up and get out of bed and we start complaining. The kids didn’t eat the breakfast you fix them. Your husband forgot to take the trash out. Or just maybe the paper boy threw your newspaper in your rose bushes again.
Throughout our day we find things to complain about. Sad thing we don’t have to look far. But imagine what would happen if we pray before we complain. My pastor tells us all the time that complaining is like sitting in a rocking chair, going nowhere. We are not perfect beings we make errors. But if God would allow you to see the other side of what you complain about you wouldn’t complain at all.
Yes, the clerk at the deli got your order wrong and it made you late returning to work. Could it be that God was stopping you from being involved in a car accident? Therefore, we should pray before we complain.
I challenge you today that before you open your mouth to complain rather to yourself or someone else pray first. And watch what the Lord will show you about yourself.
1 Corinthians 15:33 says, Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
How aware are you of your surroundings? There will always be people that we encounter who will try to bring their darkness to you. When we encounter a person who constantly has something negative to say it’s because they are not a happy person on the inside. Remember the saying misery loves company.
And how true it is. This type of person wakes up with gloom and nothing good to say. They want you to be just like them, and when you are not, they will try even harder to make their presence stronger.
You know this type of person you say, “good morning” and they say what’s so good about it? Or perhaps they don’t even speak at all. No matter what you say they will always try to find something negative to say. If you and I aren’t careful about how we handle people like this, we can be drawn into them. Therefore, it is so imperative that we set boundaries.
As a Christian we are to love and how we show that love is being kind to people. But just because your kind doesn’t mean that you are to be like them. You are the salt of the earth. When a person speaks negative constantly you must speak truth regardless of how they might feel. The problem that most of us struggle with is that we immediately want to be liked by all people, so we tend to compromise and allow ourselves to fit in like them.
Jesus never once allowed Himself to fit in with the crowd. He encountered negative people all the time. There was always someone who had something to say, even his disciples. But Jesus immediately handled each situation with the word of God. If you and I are ever going to be the salt of the earth, we can’t be like the world and accept the world’s behavior.
When we don’t speak the truth to them, they will assume that you agree with them.

Psalm 119:105 say’s Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
For just a moment I want you to close your eyes and try to picture how the disciples must of felt having Jesus, the living word walking with them at all times?
Jesus was so much more then the disciples thought. Many people wanted Jesus to take care of the Roman Empire, to set them free. Jesus is more then what you and I think. For He is all Glory. It’s high time we come into the realization of His Glory. Jesus is wanting to move you pass the step your on. He’s calling you to come up higher. But if you refuse to take that step you will never know His heart.
You and I are no different then the disciples. We have our own ideas of what Jesus is and how we want Him to take care of the Roman Empire’s in our lives. Jesus is the word and He walks with us all the time.
Are you aware of just how much the living word is with you?
2 Corinthians 4:18 says’ So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
How we become so addicted to temporal things. Let me tell you what happen to me after Easter night. Of course, on Resurrection Sunday me and my family attended church together. My grandchildren were with us. We took lots of photos and so that evening after all the festive. I uploaded all my photos from my cell phone to my laptop.
Monday morning came and when I picked up my cell-phone it was dead. My first thought was how can this be I had it on my wireless charger? I immediately looked for the other charger and plugged the phone in. It still didn’t respond. By this time, I am concerned. I just purchased this 10S Plus a month ago. I used my husband’s phone and contacted the subscriber to see if they could troubleshoot it for me. Well, they informed me to take it into one of their stores.
After work I did go into one of their locations and they informed me that the new 10S plus has had some issues and that it would take them three to four weeks to get me a brand new one. Now currently hearing this I was very upset. For common sense says just give me one on your shelf, it’s not like I didn’t have insurance. I still wasn’t happy about what they told me, so I left the store.
Mad as I was, I got into my car and I prayed Lord you have got to work this out for me. I went to Walmart brought a cheap phone to get me through the time frame they told me. Got home and tried to activate it and it was like pulling teeth I couldn’t figure it out to save my life. I end up calling their customer service line. When the representative asked for certain information from the phone, it turns out that the sales person in Walmart gave me the wrong prepaid card. She said that it won’t add the minutes to the phone.
You can just imagine how I was steaming on the inside. I informed the woman of my dilemma and she went ahead and got the phone activated with the wrong minutes the sales person sold me. All my contacts and dates were in my phone. I was lost without my phone; I couldn’t call anyone for I didn’t have numbers memorized except for my family. Seriously though, before cell phones we managed. We kept dates and numbers and addresses in an address book and we never missed any appointments.
The next day I called my subscriber back and this time I spoke with a supervisor and explain my dilemma from the very beginning. The supervisor informed me that she will have a brand-new phone sent to me within 3 to 5 business days and that she will compensate me for the trouble I went through. Talk about feeling relieved. That night as I was saying my prayers, I had to repent of my behavior to God.
It was in that time when the Lord said this to me, you had allowed yourself to get so out of sorts over something that is only temporal. What would happen if you put that much effort into heavenly things? Family let me go on the record and say this. That was a hard pill to swallow and certainly the truth.
So, what if I didn’t have my phone it’s not the end of the world. But my behavior was acting like it was. Are the temporal things that we have are we allowing them to take precedence over heavenly things? We are to appreciate things but never allow those things to become more then what they are. As promised my brand-new phone arrived via FedEx just like the supervisor had said.
I learned a valuable lesson one that I will never forget. Thank God for always teaching us daily lessons.
Galatians 5:22 says “but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, faith.
Did you not know that Christ was long-suffering when it came to you and me? Long-suffering is self-restraint in the face of provoking, long-suffering does not retaliate or get even when it is provoked.
Scripture is showing us that through long- suffering we learn to endure. How can a person be patient with someone else with their short comings if you and I haven’t learned to endure long-suffering? We can’t. No one wants to endure let alone long-suffering.
When we suffer for just a moment we begin to complain. We don’t understand as to why this has happened to us. Instead of us complaining let’s run to God first and He will give you and I the strength to withstand. Don’t yield to your misfortune for it is only for a short time it’s there to mature and purify you.
Long-suffering builds endurance and what is endure it’s means to put up with to bear and tolerate. In our suffering the last thing we want to do is to tolerate it, but when we look at other things in our lives, we tolerate many things, don’t we? We put up with things which aren’t apart of God’s design for our lives, then the moment God ask us to endure just for a while we fight Him by complaining. What is in your life today that is not a part of God, but you tolerate it anyway?
First, we must understand that suffering is a part of life and that through our suffering we kill off the sinful man. At the end of the suffering we get wisdom. Each time we endure suffering it makes us stronger in our faith. Christ want you and I to be unmovable. That is why Paul said I count it all joy. His joy is not in the pain his joy was in Christ for he knew Christ was going to see him through it and give him what he needed while in his suffering. God gives each of us His grace and mercy to sustain.
Isaiah 26:3 says, You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
When life and challenges begin to roar and the waves come threshing from one side of us to the another side of us and when our flesh torments us with a rage that we can’t even begin to identify. How can you not know who to call on? Don’t you know that God delivers us from ourselves and had He not we would still be living in Hell burning to eternity!
God gives us peace when the world is hectic. God gives us peace when we want to destroy our own bodies. God gives us peace when our mind is out of control. God gives us peace when our thoughts are over taking us. God gives us peace when the world tells us that we are nothing. God gives us peace when we want to give up on ourselves. God gives us peace when our thoughts are degraded. God gives us peace when illnesses attack our bodies. God gives us peace when suicide begins to look good to us.
Of the many things that can happen to us on a daily basis it’s His peace that keeps us in perfect harmony. Then I look at this world who is lost without God and those who don’t know Him, I wonder how they survive. Truth be told we can’t even make it without Him. Bad enough to live in this world and have no relationship with Jesus and then to deal with life problems and have no peace is a tragic horrifying life.
God will give us peace in every situation all we have to do is ask Him.
Isaiah 40:31 says” but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walkand not faint.
You’ve heard that Patience is a Virtue? But do we truly understand it? Or are we saying it to sound spiritual? Truth be told we are just reciting what we have heard we don’t really live it in our lives?
When we wait, we tend to feel powerless and abandoned? So, what is Isaiah saying to us really? The word wait is not just setting with our hand folded doing nothing. God’s word tells us that while we are waiting our hearts are to be determined, unshakable, un-faltered, persistent, tenacious, committed single-minded, resolute and dedicated.
Now that we see the heart meaning of waiting; waiting doesn’t seem hopeless anymore does it? I challenge you today begin to ponder on these words let it marinate and slowly digest these words and watch them become a part of who you are.
