Happy Friday, Everyone! You have no idea how excited I am for the weekend! I am exhausted and cannot wait to sleep forever tomorrow morning. The trip to Colorado wore me out (not sleeping in that elevation) and getting up yesterday morning at four am to pull things from the Nordstrom sale for yesterday’s post has me a little on the delirious side! So today, I wanted to show you my favorite picks in accessories. Like I have said, I don’t want to bombard you with the sale, but the feedback I got was to show my picks. I am giving you tomorrow and Sunday off!!!
When looking through the website, keep in mind gift-giving season. It might be a good idea to start a list for the holidays and birthdays. There are some excellent deals in fine jewelry if you need a gift for daughters or daughter in law’s (or yourself). I think this sweet bracelet is a great gift as well as this necklace ( which I purchased for myself!). There are pieces for every budget!
I am offering another giveaway today for a $500 Nordstrom gift card! Don’t forget to sign up at the bottom of the post by clicking the “Rafflecopter.” I will be putting some looks on my Instastories today of things I purchased at the sale. I don’t meet with my photographer until Tuesday but wanted to get some things up beforehand.
I’ve teamed up with my favorite bloggers to offer you a $500 Nordstrom gift card just in time for the sale! Use the widget below to enter the giveaway. The more “tasks” you complete, the more entries you will receive. Make sure to do the actions in the Rafflecopter before marking that they are done! The giveaway is open to US residents only. Contest runs between 7/13/2018 and 7/27/2018. Good luck! The winner will be announced (on the widget only) one week after the giveaway has ended. If you have any questions about the giveaway process, feel free to e-mail April at email@example.com
Good Morning Everyone! Well, today is the day! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 has commenced and you can pass go and start (only if you are a Nordstrom cardholder)!!! This is probably the ugliest blog post that I will have, but I just got back into town and ran over to Nordstrom yesterday afternoon for a try on sesh! This is the only way I can show you some of the things that I tried. I don’t want to bore you with pictures of just me, so I am going to put some pictures from the website below.
When I first saw the catalog, I was afraid that there wouldn’t be enough to choose from, but there is a lot more inventory than what the catalog shows. Now, how to shop this sale. I would suggest that if you see something you love, buy it without hesitation. You can always return, but things were already selling out yesterday when I was there.
Here are my picks of things that I would buy immediately. I am just starting with women’s clothes and will add more tomorrow. There has been a glitch in the way we link items, this morning, so bear with me. Hope it is fixed by tomorrow.
Good Morning! I am so sad that our vacation came to an end, but I can’t tell you how happy I was to sleep in my own bed last night! I love to travel, but I really am a homebody. I love being in my house because I feel like it is a sanctuary for me. We had such a great time with our family and will treasure those memories of this trip to Telluride! Next up for the whole family is my youngest son’s wedding in San Miguel de Allende in September. I can’t wait for that! Today, I wanted to show you this adorable blue and white dress from Misa Los Angeles that I think can be worn dressed up or down and I was photographed at one of my favorite stores in Dallas, called Blue Print. I didn’t think about the dress being blue and white for the shoot there, but it sure looked good against the blue and white of the store.
I decided to shoot the dress with my favorite silver pumps from Malone Souliers. I wore them in this post and to several weddings this summer and can honestly say; they are genuinely comfortable. I know they are a little more pricey, but they are worth it in comfort, and they go with everything! This dress lends itself to a summer cocktail party or wedding, but I did want to show (below) that it also can be dressed down with a flat sandal or sneaker for Sunday brunch or worn at the beach. I like the fact that it does cover the knee, but has the high-low hem.
I appreciate the messages you all have sent about the Nordstrom sale. I will definitely be posting my favorite picks on the blog starting tomorrow. I know during the next month that the sale will be all over blogs and social media. I want to be sure that I don’t bombard you all because you will see it everywhere. In getting ready for the sale, I have another giveaway to offer. This time it is for a $500 Nordstrom gift card. Don’t forget to sign up below!

Good Morning! Hope everyone is doing great this morning! What do you think of the new look on the blog? I needed a change since I can never decide on a new haircut! We are still in Telluride having a great time! Telluride is so gorgeous situated in a valley, surrounded by mountains. It’s probably the prettiest place we’ve been in Colorado. I will tell you, though, that being in this altitude is tough on me. I have never been in elevation this high, and I have to say that I don’t love it. I haven’t slept well and after a week and still feel short of breath! Honestly, I am probably just a big weenie! Anyway, heading back to the heat tomorrow and will be pulling out this black dress I have on. I bought the dress a while back, and now it is on sale, perfect for you because everyone needs a dress like this when the price is $89.99 PLUS…an extra 40% off + 20% off sale items with code: FLASH (think it comes in around $44!)! At this price, this dress is going to go fast!
What I like about this dress, is that it can be worn on or off the shoulder, it has a fitted waist, hits below the knee, and dips down in the back. That’s a lot to like in a dress! There are so many sales going on at the moment, but the BIG KAHUNA is about to start on the 12th! That’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I get so excited for this sale because it is the best time to stock up on fall pieces and Christmas gifts. I have a question for you all. Do you like to see my picks for the sale or could you care less? Do you want me to keep posting throughout the sale on finds? As I said, I love the sale, but don’t want you all to get sick of me!
To get ready for the sale, I have joined some other bloggers to offer you a chance to win an $850 Nordstrom Gift Card. Don’t forget to sign up at the end of this post!.

Happy Saturday to you all! I am so excited to share with you some products that I love and let you in on a secret (hang with me for a minute)! I have been using some products by Tula recently that I have enjoyed, the Multi-Spectrum Eye Renewal Serum and the Aqua Infusion Power Liquid and am so glad that I have gotten a chance to try the others that I am going to tell you about. As luck would have it, you all are privy to a pre-sale that Tula is having on QVC today and tomorrow, before the sale goes live on QVC”s TSV (today’s special value) on Monday the 9th (for 24 hours only and exclusive to QVC). Y’all, the best four products are in this bundle, and you won’t believe the price!
The first product is the Purifying Face Cleanser– This cleanser is a probiotic gel cleanser that goes deep into the pores to remove impurities and helps condition the skin, without drying it out. It’s suitable for any skin type, even mature.
The second product is the Hydrating Day + Night Cream– This nourishing cream is full of naturally derived probiotics and superfoods, to give you deep hydration for an even, glowing, and youthful complexion. It is suitable for all skin types.
The third product is the Multi-Spectrum Eye Renewal Serum– This serum refreshes the look of tired, aging eyes with this transformative caffeine-packed eye serum. Clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and puffiness. The cooling applicator feels fantastic too!
The last product in the bundle is the Aqua Infusion Power Liquid– This newly supercharged serum contains 10,000 micro-bubbles filled with pure fresh ingredients. It’s a very light liquid, yet packs a punch for dehydrated skin!
All Tula products are made with natural probiotics and clean skin superfoods. They are 100% free from, phthalates, parabens, toxins, carcinogens, mineral oil, sodium laurel sulfate, and harmful preservatives. They are also certified as cruelty-free!
I had gotten wind of Tula from a blogger who I think has the most beautiful skin, The Bag Snob. After seeing her post on Instastories about Tula products, I had the “When Harry Met Sally” moment, when the phrase “I want what she’s having” came into play. I did want what she was having… gorgeous skin! I bought two of the products to try, and have loved them. As you might have read in a recent post, I am in Telluride, Colorado and if you all have ever been in the mountains, you know how dry your skin gets. I am so happy that I have had these products with me that have saved my skin from dryness. If they work this well in the mountains, imagine how hydrated you are in regular climates.
So…head over to QVC today (preferably) or tomorrow with this link to get this special bundle from Tula for only $58! That’s all four of the products listed above for that price which is a $206 value! You all get to shop it before anyone else does on the 9th. Once the bundles are gone, that’s it!
I hope you all have a great weekend! xx

Thank you to Tula and QVC for sponsoring this post!
Good Morning everyone! I hope you had a great Fourth of July and I also hope you are getting this post today. I just had some work done on my website and a change of hosting and because I am in the mountains right now, things got a little screwy on my end. I wish I knew more about technology! Anyway, we had a great July 4th in Telluride! It was so much fun being with the whole family! A few had to leave yesterday, but being with family for any amount of time is the best! Today is about the happiest floral dress!
I remember a few years back that I wouldn’t dare wear anything with too much of a pattern on it. Now, I cannot get enough patterns, mainly floral, stripes, and polka dots. I love this dress (bought in a 00 petite) from Ann Taylor. It’s hard to see in the photo, but it has the cutest bow back closure. I also love a flare dress that moves when you walk. The floral pattern is so happy! It is such a cute dress to wear to lunch, church, or a summer party. I also love this dress for those occasions as well!
I wasn’t looking for a denim jacket, but when I saw this one, I had to have it because of the feminine back. Most of my denim jackets are simple in style with different washes, but the peplum got me, and it’s really soft! I have a problem with denim! Whenever I go shopping, I always go straight to the denim! My closet is screaming for tops, but denim always comes home with me! I didn’t get this pair but am thinking I need them. I think I may need help!
Now, what kind of shoe do you wear with a floral dress, like the one I am wearing? Sometimes I think it’s hard to match up a color in a print, so I usually pair a neutral or as you all know I love a leopard print! The shoes I am wearing were bought at Ann Taylor back in the spring and are no longer on the website, but these cork sandals in the heel and mule will serve the same purpose and go with everything in your closet! Every time I walk into Ann Taylor of late, I leave with a shoe, jacket, or something on sale, because they are constantly having one (like now…40% off 3 or more, 30% off 2, or 20% off 1 item with Code- YOUPICK)!
The weather in the mountains is looking like rain off and on for the next couple of days. I am hoping to get in a few more hikes and a horseback sesh! It’s so nice to have a reprieve from the heat! Our week so far has been full of noise and activity. With four little ones under the age of five, it has been interesting, to say the least, but so much fun!
Happy Fourth Day! What are you all up to today? We are in Telluride, Colorado with our entire family plus some! I thought today would be a great day to post this adorable blue cropped lace jumpsuit. I think you can dress it up or down depending on your shoe choice. I think a flat sandal would be just as fun with it. The halter style makes it look a little dressier to me. The only negative about it is that it runs a bit big at the top. You may have to alter a tiny bit, but at $103 on sale, it’s worth it! I bought it in the XS. These photos were taken last week at Blue Print Store in Dallas. If you have never been to Blue Print, you are missing out on a treat! They have the most beautiful home furnishings and artwork, and it is such a fun place to wander through.
As I said above, we are in Telluride with the family. There are sixteen of us (including four under five), and it is a blast! The weather is perfect, and where we are staying, the views are fantastic! We have never been to Telluride before, but the town is adorable. The first full day we were here, we did the Boomerang Hike (which is straight up a black diamond run), and I thought I was going to die! My daughter in law told us it wasn’t too hard and we trusted her! Hmmm, she was not telling the truth! The second day was a bit easier hike, but my hamstrings are killing me, so much so, that I got a massage yesterday. I am such a weenie!
We are off to the Telluride Fourth of July parade this morning, and I can’t wait! I’ve been told by everyone that it is so much fun and very “Americana.” I can’t wait to watch the grandkids watch it. There will be no fireworks here because of the fires that have been close by. It is still going to be a fun day!
I wanted to tell you all how overwhelmed I was to get all of the sweet comments and emails on my Cancerversary post this past Sunday. You all are such kind and supporting women, and I could not be more grateful for you all! Thank you again!
Hoping you all have a fantastic 4th of July! Stay safe out there!!! xx
Good Morning Everyone! I don’t usually post on Sunday but today is a HUGE day for me. Today, July 1, is my five-year cancerversary. I’m sure everyone has heard that when you’ve had cancer making it to five years is the goal. Making it to five years with the kind of breast cancer I had is major! For those of you who are somewhat new to my blog, I had Triple Negative breast cancer. What is that you ask? Triple–negative breast cancer (sometimes abbreviated TNBC) refers to any breast cancer that does not express the genes for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and Her2/neu. The majority of breast cancers are hormonal and have one or more of the receptors above. TNBC represents 15-20 percent of all breast cancers, which is not a huge number.
When I was diagnosed five years ago, I had never heard of TNBC. Of course, I went straight to Google and started reading up on what it was. One of the first things that popped up was this…”Five-year survival rates also tend to be lower for triple-negative breast cancer. A 2007 study of more than 50,000 women with all stages of breast cancer found that 77% of women with triple-negative breast cancer survived at least five years, versus 93% of women with other types of breast cancer”. Also, this means that there is a higher risk of death when cancer does recur”. You can imagine how scary reading the statistic was!
The five-year mark is something that I have been waiting on, well, for five years! I didn’t want time to pass by quickly, but I couldn’t wait to say I was five years out! Does this mean that if you have had TNBC, you are cured forever? I don’t know, because everyone’s path is different. What I choose to believe is that I am healed, and I am never having it again! Cancer is a life changer! We are all touched by it in one way or another. I absolutely hate it, but I am a different person because of it and actually grateful for it. As bad as the ordeal was, it has given me so much, and I wouldn’t trade any of it. It brought our family together like nothing else, it gave me a platform to hopefully help other women going through it, and it has become a massive opportunity for me through this blog. It also has taught me to believe in God’s word on healing.
A great friend of mine sent me a book called 365 Days of Healing (devotional), and it changed my thoughts on healing. I am a Christian, but one of the devotions gave me an “ah-ha” moment. On the page I read, the author said that if we look at the passage from the Lord’s Prayer where it says “on earth as it is in heaven, ” we should take that to heart. There is NO sickness in heaven. Therefore there should be no sickness on earth. I have clung to that thought!
I don’t know why some people are healed and some are not, only God is in control of that. One day I will be able to ask him that question. In the meantime on this earth, I hope that I will continue to be used to help other women who are going through breast cancer. I have had women reach out to me through this blog to let me know about their diagnosis. I am serious when I say this, but I have talked with each one and hope that if anyone else is diagnosed, they will contact me. It is my greatest privilege!
Now for my PSA! Please, please, please, get your mammograms! My cancer was found that way and actually didn’t show up as a tumor. It showed up as a calcification that looked funny to the radiologist. Thank God he was persistent! Feel yourselves up and go to the doctor if you feel anything at all. It’s better to check than not. TNBC usually goes along with the BRACA gene, but I believe in my heart, that it is environmental (I was negative for this gene). This type of breast cancer does NOT discriminate in age either. Many younger women in their 20’s and 30’s have been diagnosed with it. Tell your daughter’s to check themselves too!
I have been celebrating all week long! My husband had a party for me this past Wednesday night with family and good friends that had been on this journey with me. I am so grateful for the love and support I had and continue to have. We are celebrating today with my family in Colorado. I am the luckiest girl! It has been a great week but also a very emotional one for me. I pray that there will be a cure very soon! Please know that you can reach out to me if you know someone who needs coaching through a diagnosis. I would love to help!
Thank you for being such sweet supporters of my blog as it means the world to me!
Oh, ladies, this ruffle wrap dress with the Chic at Every Age girls was a hard one for me, but I think I worked it out! If you are new to the blog, Chic at Every Age is precisely how it sounds! Each one of us represents a different age group and shows you how to style a piece in our own way (me being the oldest and tallest). We take turns picking the item, and this month it was Heather’s turn to choose. This ruffle wrap dress was one of the items and it is short! When I tried it on, I knew that I would be wearing something underneath.
Listen, if you are in your fifties and can wear a mini dress or skirt, my hat is off to you! I, on the other hand, cannot. I felt like my butt cheeks were hanging out below the ruffle, so I improvised! I was thinking about wearing leggings under the dress, but tried it with the white jeans and liked it. It’s sort of like wearing a tunic, don’t you think? The great news about this dress (besides it being really cute)is that it is $55 and you can barely find a top for that. I like that you can wear it with jeans, leggings, or as a dress (if you are so inclined). It comes in white as well as you can see and the bright pink is on sale for $27! I bought the size 2.
Style of Sam– Sam chose to wear hers as a casual dress with a platform sandal.
So Heather– Heather went the dressier route as well, with the silver metallic accessories.

Good Morning All! I am so excited to tell and show you how much fun and how cute the Sip and See was for my friend, Lynsey and baby Will last week. If you read this post a few weeks ago, you will remember that I flew to New York to attend the launch of Huggies® Made by You, it’s first-ever personalized diapers. I got to see the reveal and to meet with the Huggies team and Nicole Marie of Nicole Marie Events, who is the party planner extraordinaire! Nicole Marie is based in Chicago and has created parties for celebs and even a past president. She taught the five of us there how to plan the perfect baby shower or Sip and See.
Huggies introduced us to the different diaper patterns from the new Huggies® Made by You collection, and Nicole Marie decorated a whole area for each design. My favorite pattern was the Sweet Safari, and it was adorable (check out this post for what she did for me). I had a “Safari” themed casual dessert and champagne Sip and See for a precious friend of mine, Lynsey who recently had her second baby, Will. Many of Lynsey’s friends had not had a chance to meet Will, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.
Here are the photos of how it looked. It turned out to be a nice and cooler day in Dallas so I decided to move everything outside. I found the vases that looked like zebra heads (at least they looked like it to me!) at Home Goods and decided to make them one of the focal points of the table. I took the diaper pattern from the Huggies® Made by You Sweet Safari diaper collection that I ordered for baby Will and had Susie Cakes make the cake into the pattern. I think it turned out so cute! I found a plain wood crate at Home Goods as well and painted it blue to have the cake front and center.
Since the theme was “Safari,” I bought animal crackers, plastic safari animals, dessert plates with cute animals on them, and a zebra platter and small bowls (from Pier 1). I also found a giraffe head stool to set the gifts around. The “Will” banner was purchased at Michael’s, and I put his name on it with letter stickers. I ordered these precious safari animal cookies that came individually wrapped from Etsy. If you’re planning a sip and see, baby shower or any other event, I highly recommend choosing a theme and basing all the designs around it. If you are hosting a baby celebration specifically, the Huggies® Made by You patterns make for the perfect decoration inspiration!
The afternoon was so much fun celebrating this precious little boy. He was a perfect angel and let everyone hold and dote over him. My favorite part of the whole sip and see? Watching Lynsey open all her thoughtful gifts
from friends and family. Lynsey loved the personalized diapers from Huggies® Made byYou! I am still so in love with these diapers myself! So much so, that I have ordered another set for my photographer who is about to give birth to a little girl. Huggies® Made byYou is the perfect gift that shows a family you put thought into making something special and personal but something that you also know will be practically used!
Celebrating the life of a new baby is so special and with these Huggies® Made by You personalized diapers, you can be sure the new mama will be thrilled!
I hope you all have a great day!
