Welcome to the Middle Page! I am Cathy, Fashion blogger for women over 50, a wife, mother of three, and now grandmother of two precious children. I have always had a passion for fashion and beautiful things
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you have had a great week. I got back from LA last night on the bumpiest plane I’ve been on in a long time! I am not the greatest “flyer,” but that flight was a nightmare for me!!! The weather in Los Angeles was not great while we were there, and was pouring rain two out of the three days. I was there with two of my blogger BFF’s and believe me; we made the best out of the bad weather. We had so much fun shopping, eating, and getting in a few meetings. The highlight was getting to spend about an hour or so at Rachel Zoe’s office. We had the “grand tour”, got to play dress-up in the studio and even got to meet and visit with her husband, Roger. Rachel was not in the office, but we did get invited to an event she was hosting that night and got a chance to meet and visit with her there! It was a great trip, but I am utterly exhausted from not sleeping (have to be in my own bed to sleep well).
Today, the Chic at Any Age girls are showing one of my favorite trends for spring or anytime. Gingham is a huge trend, and it just makes me really happy! We all love this versatile black and white gingham top. Did you know that when gingham was introduced in the 17th century, it was a stripe? Fun fact for you! This gingham top can be worn several different ways, which is why I like this particular one. The top also comes in a blue and white stripe if you aren’t a gingham girl.
Natalie- The Fashion Hour– Styled hers with a black tank underneath and black denim. Love how Natalie looks in a hat!
Sam- Style of Sam– Paired hers opened at the neck and tied at the waist with white denim.
Heather- So Heather– Wore hers with a cami underneath, tied at the waist as well, and ripped denim.
Me- I am buttoned up compared to the others! I do like the way the neckline looks this way. I wore my top with regular denim and the floral slides from Ann Taylor that I am obsessed with.
It’s supposed to be warm and sunny this weekend. YAY!!! I am so ready for it! I want to go outside and lay on a lounge chair and sleep all day tomorrow. Let’s see if I can accomplish that! I have also just ordered Glotrition Collagen Peptide Drink Mix. I have heard that this stuff really works to increase skin firmness and reduce wrinkle depth in 30 days. Have you all tried it? I will do anything that says reduce wrinkles and increase firmness! Hope your weekend is great! xx
Hello! I am in Los Angeles and having a great time with my girlfriends! The first night we were here, we went to Mr. Chow for dinner and guess who we saw? Stevie Wonder! He looked so good, and it was cool to see such an icon in person. We have shopped and eaten a lot and I am going to need a vacay from this vacay when I get home!
One of my best friends who happens to be a blogger (although we met before either of us had blogs), Debby of Fashionomics and I came up with a fun challenge. We decided to go to H&M and find an outfit for under or around $100. We went out to Northpark Mall to the H&M store and got to looking around. We found a dress and blouse with the same print and agreed we could work with them. The dress I am wearing is so cute and believe it or not, comes in at $24.99! I am not kidding! I found the blue velvet sandals that are no longer available, but these would be my other choice. I accidentally left the bag I picked out, but it was this one. So, the total of my outfit is about $75!
Debby is wearing a cute suit with the same floral print top (believe it or not, her outfit is right around $100). Goes to show you that you don’t have to spend a lot to look great! Head over to Fashionomics for details on her suit. Debby is so stylish, and you all will adore her as much as I do. She is also a wardrobe stylist and closet organizer, so if you live in Dallas and need that service, she’s your girl. She is one of the most fun and loyal friends I have. Debby is such a cheerleader and the first person I call when I need to vent or have a problem, and she will immediately start to pray for me. I am so blessed to have her in my life!
We are off to hit the streets of Los Angeles one more day. We have a full schedule and can’t wait to see what the day brings! Hope it is a good day for you! xx
Happy Monday, everyone! Spring has finally sprung in Dallas, and everything is starting to bloom. I love this time of year. I like to watch the tree outside my kitchen window bloom a little at a time. I am heading out this morning to Los Angeles with two of my blogger friends (So Heather and Style of Sam) for a girl’s getaway, and I could not be more ready. Wouldn’t you know it though, it’s supposed to rain the entire time we are there except today. We will just have to make the most of it! The three of us have been trying to get a girl’s trip on the calendar for a while, so come rain or shine we are on our way today!
I bought this mint blazer (although it is described as blue) a couple of weeks ago because I couldn’t resist the color. Honestly, I am tired of winter colors and wanted a pretty and fresh color blazer. This blazer also comes with matching pants for a pantsuit look. I didn’t get the pants, but now I think I should. I don’t have a pantsuit for spring and come to think of it, for any season. I love the blazer paired with white jeans or a white skirt or pants. It would also look great paired with a floral dress like this or this. The top I am wearing is only available in a few sizes, but I linked two more that I like below.
Do y’all ever get in a rut with your hair? That’s probably a dumb question! I do not know what to do with mine. I’ve been trying to grow out my bangs because my hairdresser won’t let me have them anymore. He says that my forehead is too short for bangs. I have fought with him for years, because…bangs or botox, but I finally am minding him! Anyway, I feel like I did when I cut “wings” in the ninth grade. I’m just feeling blah and can’t decide what to do. My husband calls my hair a “butt cut”! If you have any great ideas, let me know!
I will try to post some Instastories from L.A. I don’t post many stories because my life is pretty boring, but I am hoping we stir up some fun (do you all even watch Instastories?)! I hope we see a celeb or two as well! Have a great day, everyone! xx
Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend! How many of you dressed in green and drank green beer? I love to wear green, so any chance I get an excuse, I’m wearing it. As for the beer, no thank you, as I am only a red wine girl! A couple of weeks back, I co-hosted an event at Matthew Trent in Dallas with one of my all-time favorite younger bloggers, Lauren Murphy of Murphy’s Law. She is a doll, and I was so excited to do this with her!
Matthew Trent is an excellent jeweler who has been perfecting his craft for over 40 years. His store sits in The Plaza at Preston Center next to True Foods Kitchen, and you will find him working on pieces in the front window as you walk by. Matthew Trent is a family business where every piece is unique and carefully designed. Matthew was first introduced to the art of jewelry at boarding school. After high school, he worked in Scottsdale, Arizona, for Running Buffalo Silver Gallery and apprenticed for a goldsmith. Before he moved to Dallas, he also worked for a custom jewelry store and manufactured pieces for their retail store. Matthew perfected his craft before deciding to go out on his own. Customers started asking him to make custom pieces and his business was born, almost 30 years ago. Now, Trent is well known around the globe by industry professionals and clients for designing the highest-quality custom jewelry.
I so enjoyed meeting and talking with Matthew. He has created so many beautiful pieces that are ready to purchase, but he will work with you to create a unique and special piece. We had so much fun playing with all of the gorgeous jewelry, but my favorite was the canary diamond ring I am wearing toward the end of the photos. It is stunning, and I am giving hints right now!!!
With Mother’s Day coming up, Matthew Trent is a great place to visit and talk to Matthew about designing a unique piece for you or someone special. I hope it’s a piece for you and you get it!!!!
Have a great day!

NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 12: Molly Ringwald and Tracee Ellis
Good Morning, Everyone! I mentioned on Monday that I was going to New York for a minute and it did seem like a minute! I was there for a whirlwin 24 hours. I went up for Chico’s celebration for the launch of #HowBoldAreYou. This event was to launch the brand’s new focus, and that is, How Bold Are You? Chico’s is trying to change the attitude of age because honestly, it is just a number. These days, women can be anything they want. They can be doctors, CEO’s, curvy, mothers, dye their hair purple, bloggers, teachers; you get the picture! The question is, why are we afraid to say our age out loud?
There was a group of eleven influencers (all wearing Chico’s) who were invited to come to the event, and boy what an event it was! We met at Joe’s Pub to hear Lesley Jane Seymore (editor of the past More magazine) emcee the event. The first guest was the actress, Tracee Ellis Ross, who I think is incredible! She spoke about how much better life is getting older and how there are so many extraordinary women (older) doing amazing things. She also told the story about the Oscar’s when Helen Mirren at 72 years old was the one they chose to come out on the jet ski at the end of the show. She said, “it was a cute moment, but it did something really spectacular because it blew an archetype of being a bombshell. If you watched the Oscar’s until the end, did you think the same thing?
The next part of the event was a performance by Molly Ringwald (who is now 50!). She sang three songs and the cutest was watching her husband react to her. She looked the same as she did in the movie Sixteen Candles. We were then taken across the street to Indochine for a dinner and celebration. It was such a beautiful night, and I love that Chico’s is trying to change the way age is viewed. Who cares about the number, you can try anything you want to, and that’s the beauty of getting older! We should be BOLD, not OLD! #HowBoldAreYou? Check out the new ad/video here. It gives me chills every time I see it! I was so honored to be invited, and a big thank you to Chico’s for including me!!!
I hope by watching the video, you will feel empowered! Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning, everyone! Hope your week is going well! I got back last night from a whirlwind 24 hour trip to New York. I will be sharing that adventure with you on Friday. Today is going to be short and sweet because I am way behind on everything in my life at the moment.
The outfit today could be a pre-St. Patrick’s day look. Y’all know that I am in jeans most of the time, but I found these updated track pants and very much like the way the fit. The cool way to wear a track pant now is either with a sneaker or a heel. I like them with pumps too! I thought the feminine green sweater with the hood was the perfect piece to go with them since it had the feel of a sweatshirt, but any top or sweater will look great! These pants are a little nicer than an actual track pant, but you can get the same look with something like these that are a bit less expensive. Plus, track pants are so comfy.
Today is a catch-up day for me; you know laundry, errands, all of these fun things! I hope you have a great day! xx
Good Morning, Friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! I mentioned on Friday that I thought I was getting a sinus infection…well, boy did I get one! I have never experienced my head or face hurting so bad. I got an antibiotic and am hoping that it will be on its way soon! We had dinner with sweet friends on Friday night, then Saturday morning I went to a two-hour class on SEO. What a joke for me! If you don’t know what SEO is, it is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. Don’t worry; I didn’t realize until a couple of years ago. When I started the blog, it was really a hobby, but now that it is a business, SEO is essential for Google rankings. My head wants to explode from all of the information needed to play the game in this internet world! I’m not that great at it, but I am willing to learn what I need to know (and then I’m still not very good at it!).
One thing that I can do is pick clothes that I like, mainly these black and white check pants. I love gingham in the Spring and Summer, and when I saw these pants, I knew that I could pair them with so many things. Of course, any solid color (except beige) can be worn with them, but I think it’s interesting to mix in a print. I found this Ted Baker (Y’all know I love Ted Baker from this post) sweater and thought it would be great with the pants. I have linked a few other tops below that I like with them too. If you are in a corporate job or want to cover your bum, a longer jacket would be great worn over them.
One other thing that was so fun this weekend was that I got to attend a luncheon at Neiman’s on Saturday to meet the founder of Cinq a Sept. Cinq a Sept is one of my favorite lines, and it was so much fun to meet Jane Siskin and see the newest collection. I had no idea that Jane launched 7 For All Mankind and Elizabeth and James. Now, her baby is Cinq a Sept, and it is gorgeous. I have my eye on several things (like this and I die for this), and we should all buy this tee (means I like everyone)
I am off to New York this morning ( for 24 hours) for an event with Chico’s. They are launching a commercial that is brilliant (have gotten a preview) and it gave me chills. You all will love the theme!!! Okay, go make it a great Monday! xx
Happy Friday! I am not usually a “hot pink” kind of girl, but when our Chic at Every Age group decides on something, we do it. Today, Chic at Every Age is featuring this hot pink top. Hot pink is not a color I typically wear, but I will have to say, that I like this top. It’s so bright and cheery and let’s face it; we could all use a little cheer these days! I love the voluminous sleeves that give it some personality. This top comes in white and a light blue and white print and is $69! I am wearing the xs, but honestly, wish I had ordered the petite xs. How did the girls wear theirs?
Natalie- The Fashion Hour, wore hers with a wide leg cropped pant (had a matching jacket with it) and heels. I think this would be a great Easter Sunday outfit.
Sam- Style of Sam, showed up in light denim and cool Chanel chain belt with her silver Gucci slides.
Heather- So Heather, chose to wear her top with faded black denim and heels.
Me- I had the same thought as Sam. I wore it with a light high waisted denim I just showed here and floral pumps. This top looks great with any color denim. I would also wear it the way Natalie has with a pant or skirt.
What are your plans for the weekend? We have dinner tonight to celebrate a friend’s birthday, then a busy morning tomorrow. I feel like I am getting a sinus infection, so I hope to lay low the rest of the weekend because I am heading to New York for a minute on Monday. Whatever you have going on, I hope you have a great one! xx
Hello everyone! I know I am looking very “foufy”(that’s my made-up word) in my frou-frou stripe tee, but the weather and sun have me feeling particularly happy, and this shirt made me feel that way too! One significant trend this season is embellishments, and I would say that this simple black and white tee went to a whole new level with the pink ostrich feather embellishment. I also want to introduce you to a brand that makes the prettiest medical ID bracelets.
First of all, this top is stinking adorable and comes in a reverse stripe with blue feathers here. When I was perusing the Saks Fifth Avenue website, I somehow ended up finding this tee. Now, I’ve told you all that I have never met a stripe or a leopard print I didn’t like, but adding a little glam feather embellishment to this stripe took it from “meh” to marvelous and made me love it more! How cute are these floral mules? I got them last week at Ann Taylor and have already worn them three times! I think Ann Taylor has really upped their shoe game! They are having 40% until Monday!
So let me tell you about this medical ID bracelet from Lauren’s Hope. Lauren’s Hope introduced the first interchangeable medical ID bracelet in 2001. Overnight, people who had or refused to wear the standard (ugly) medical ID bracelets of the past were suddenly excited to wear these bracelets. Today, more than 400,000 people wear these ID bracelets. So who is Lauren? The bracelets were designed for Lauren, a 13-year-old with diabetes who refused to wear medical ID jewelry because it was ugly and drew attention to her illness.
You all may wear or have seen the standard ID bracelets, but these ID bracelets are something special. Lauren’s Hope sent me the beautiful rose gold bracelet I am wearing with pave cubic zirconia accents. The medical ID’s are interchangeable with other bracelets and can be engraved. Mine is engraved with my name, a lymphodema alert (from having lymph nodes removed during mastectomy) and ICE (in case of emergency) number. It was so hard to choose which one I wanted because they are all gorgeous and I can honestly say; I have not taken it off since I got it. I think these are so great for people who need to alert others of medical issues and they are so beautiful that you won’t mind wearing them. There are so many choices for women, men, and children to choose from, and what a great gift to give to someone needing to wear a medical ID!
Have a great Wednesday everyone! xx

P. S. If the link to the tee is not working, it’s Sak’s fault! The brand is Pello Bello!
Good Morning Everyone! How was your weekend and did you watch the Oscars? I have to admit that I haven’t seen a single movie that was nominated. I am dying to see several and at the top of my list is Lady Bird. Did you have a favorite dress? I loved Allison William’s dress and thought Jane Fonda looked amazing in hers (her body!!!). I did not like Salma Hayek’s dress and was shocked when I learned that Gucci designed it. Fun fact though, her dress had 4.2 million dollars worth of diamonds on it, WOW! Today I want to share these super comfortable sandals by Adrian Allen in tan. You might remember the same pair in black here. I had to have the same pair in tan after wearing the black ones because they are so stinking comfy. Honestly, I could walk miles in these sandals. The tan color and design goes with every single item in everyone’s closet and would be your go-to shoe for the spring and summer.
Gwen Allen’s (founder of Adrian Allen) story is pretty funny, and I so identify with it. She wore flip-flops to a black tie wedding reception because her feet hurt in her pointy-toed pumps after the ceremony. She made her husband go back to their hotel room to get her flip-flops. How many of us have ripped off our shoes at a wedding reception and danced in flip-flops or barefoot? I was in so much pain walking in New York one time, that I took my shoes off and walked barefoot back to my hotel (can’t believe I am admitting this)! Anyway, Gwen Allen realized she had a closet full of gorgeous shoes that she couldn’t wear so she decided to create a low heel shoe that could be worn with many different outfits. She also realized that the footwear industry was designing for very young women (who will be in our shoes one day, no pun intended!), who can stand to wear an uncomfortable shoe.
Adrian Allen may not have the largest selection of styles (which I am sure they will be adding to), but I will guarantee they will be your most comfortable shoes. The Stella that I am wearing can be worn with everything from jeans to dressier dresses. I also really like the Sara for women who work. This shoe is practical and would be perfect for a woman who has to dress in a dress or suit for work. If you are someone who lives in a walking city, I guarantee these shoes will be your best friend!
I hope you all have a great day! xx
Thank you to Adrian Allen for sponsoring this post!
