Nikola Tesla states: “If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

We are souls/spirit having a human experience.  We are energy.  We are spirit embodied.  When we die, we drop the body … The spirit, the soul continues and lives on.  Energy can never be destroyed. It only changes forms.

“Death in the physical world is rebirth back in heaven” – SDJ

My goal with this blog is to help you consider a different perspective of death.  Not to stop the grief, but perhaps put a different perspective to it. So many people struggle with the death process and with a sense of loss – and understandably so.  This sense of loss can then hold them back from living life fully.  So many people feel guilt, pain, shame and the tragedy of loss … and this can block them from the light and the love of the soul connection.

I share this as someone who has experienced much death in her own life … My grandmother froze to death walking in below 0-degree temperatures while suffering from Alzheimer’s. Three friends took their own lives over the past 10 years. Countless clients have died in a variety of ways, and of course, my family has not been immune to death, with the passing of my aunt and my cousin in the past 9 months. I am sharing this from a perspective of someone who absolutely believes in the afterlife, and experiences it on a daily basis with my clients as well as in my own personal life. I also experience grief, sadness, and the feelings of loss for moments of time, until I am reminded again … that life lives on. Spirit is constantly reminding me of this. As a medium, it has become important for me to also remind others … not to deny the feeling of grief or sadness or loss, but to bring acknowledgement and hope to the fact that when ready (and there is no amount of time that is right), you very well will continue that connection with your loved ones … in whatever way you choose. That is not to deny or judge your pain in any way, but instead to offer you, again, when ready, an opportunity to know … they are with you. When we are ready to look for them, for the signs and the messages, they will show themselves to us … in their new form.

I want to affirm that it indeed is a choice to see, feel, hear and know love, peace, harmony and connection to your loved ones after their physical transition.  I am not saying it is an easy choice, as we want them physical again. Most people do. It is a choice of the heart.  A reminder that the love connection is never lost.  You have the ability to connect to your loved ones through the connection of the heart.  I have learned that where you put your focus is what you will experience.  When you focus on the loss and the absence, then that is what you will experience.  When you focus on their presence and in the signs and messages they send when you ask, then that is what you will experience. Neither is right or wrong, they are simply ways to walk through the experience … different and each divine in their own right.

“You cannot focus on the absence of your loved ones in spirit and experience the presence of them.” – SDJ

Be open and willing to feel your feelings through the pain of the loss. There is no “right” way or “wrong” way to do this and there is also no “right” or “wrong” amount of time.

One suggestion I have is to invite Archangel Michael into your space to help you maintain your own energy and then you can open up and feel the connection to your loved one.  Trust that you are indeed safe with this powerful Archangel of protection, courage and strength.

Being present and aware of your loved one’s presence.  Pay attention to the signs that they send you.

Some signs are:

Songs on the radio, cloud shapes, coins, feathers, smells, goosebumps.  Ask them for a sign that you understand.

Grief is so personal, and my experience is that no two people grieve the same way.  There is the traditional way of grief, moving through the five stages

  1. Denial
  2. Anger
  3. Bargaining
  4. Depression
  5. Acceptance

Many people don’t experience the stages in order and that is ok.  The key here is to understand the stages are not absolute and you may or may not go through all of them.  Consider looking at them as a guide in the grieving process.

Then there is the new way of looking at it through the eyes of love.  That we only drop the body and that the love of who we are lives on in spirit.

You can’t choose when grief comes into your life, but you can choose how to walk through it.  Listen to the lessons it brings, express the loss in a healthy way and allow yourself the acceptance that you deserve. Blessings to you – SDJ

Enjoy … and please … I’d love to hear what your thoughts are in the comments below. Can you relate? Let us know what you think – Blessings SDJ

Three Easy Ways to Get Your Writing Published

Do you dream of having your writing published? Perhaps you desire to add this accomplishment to your bio, or maybe it’s a lifelong goal you strive to achieve?

The good news is, there are many ways to get published without having to write a full book. In fact, starting out with a smaller project is a nice way to get your feet wet in the world of publishing, while building your confidence for a larger project down the road.

Here are three easy ways to add “published” to your list of accomplishments:

  1. Pitch an article idea to a magazine. Magazines are always looking for quality articles and essays that are relevant to their audience or niche. It helps if you’re familiar with the magazine and you know the type of content they like to publish. If you go this route, be sure to do your research on the magazine’s style and tone, and take some time to review what’s already been published by the magazine in the past. Even if your idea has been covered, don’t count it out just yet. How can you put your own unique spin on the topic? How might your expertise set it apart from the others? Once you have an article idea, find the point of contact, or editor, and thoroughly review their submission guidelines before you send your pitch. It’s also a good idea to read a book or two about how to write a good query letter, and Writer’s Digest (www.writersdigest.com) has many books and trainings to help you perfect your pitch. As a bonus, most magazines pay rather well for published articles, so you can make some income from your writing as well.
  2. Participate in a multi-author compilation book. When you participate in a multi-author book, you’re typically assigned either a full chapter, poem, prayer, meditation, or essay to write based on the theme of the book. This is a smaller commitment than writing a full book, which is why it’s a great way for aspiring authors to get started. This will introduce you to the production process, including deadlines, editing, revision, proofing, and the book launch and marketing process. Not only will this allow you to add published author to your list of accomplishments, but you’re also in the company of several other authors promoting the book along with you, and the reach can be far greater this way than when an author goes solo. Most publishers will allow you to submit a bio along with your piece so that the book can become a nice networking tool as well. If someone likes your writing, they’ll likely read your bio where they’ll find your website, social media and contact info. This is not only how I got some of my first works published, but many of my clients go this route before they attempt their hand at a full book. Keep an eye on SDJ Productions (https://sdjproductions.net) for upcoming compilation books from Publisher, Sunny Dawn Johnston. Her participation fee, which covers the cost of production, is lower than most and she produces high-quality books with beautiful covers. Not to mention the virtual launch parties are a blast!
  3. Self-publish a short eBook. Did you know most eBooks published on Amazon are on the shorter side these days? Especially, non-fiction how-to eBooks, which can also double as a way to bring new readers to your business when you add a call-to-action at the end. Consider adding an opt-in inside the eBook, meaning you give away something of value to your reader in exchange for their email address, thus, adding them to your mailing list. Your non-fiction book could be as few as 25,000 words, as long as it delivers value. If you’re a blogger, I’d be willing to bet you already have content you could easily expand upon to create a short eBook. If you enjoy writing fiction, consider publishing a novella. Novellas typically range from 20,000-50,000 words, and they are hot within the Kindle community!

If you decide to self-publish an eBook, there are three things you must never skimp on: 1. Professional cover design (which is more affordable for an eBook than a print book since you only need the front cover); 2. Professional editing; 3. Proper formatting. Yes, there are some fees involved in preparing your eBook for publication, but once it’s ready, you can publish it for free on Kindle through KDP, Kindle Direct Publishing. The best part? Amazon will pay you 70% of the royalties on the sale as long as your book is priced between $2.99-$9.99; above or below that you get 35%. eBooks are not only a nice way to become a published author, but to grow your list and generate passive income as well.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these three easy ways to get your writing published. Yes, there’s time and effort involved with each option, but you may find it’s worth it in the long run when you add your published work to your list of achievements.

I always love the energy of the full moon – well … almost always. Sometime it gets a bit intense, which is why I ask people that tune into moon energy to let me know, in advance …  what to be mindful of. I’m one of those types of people that would rather have awareness ahead of time … than not … so… Here is some great info for this month’s FULL MOON by Melissa Corter – Enjoy – SDJ

January 31st 2018  Blue Moon, Super Moon, & Total Lunar Eclipse

One of the most powerful moons energetically in all of 2018 shines upon us on January 31st.  We will encounter a rare and glorious cosmic adventure: a Blue moon, Super moon, and total Lunar Eclipse, a rare event for all to occur at once!

A Blue Moon is an additional Full Moon occurring in a single month or season when there has already been one Full Moon. It is not blue or a different color, it is just the name given the “extra” moon of this time.

A Super Moon is either a Full Moon or a New Moon appearing larger because of the distance it is on its orbit in relation to the earth. A Super Moon is a new or Full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to earth in a given orbit (perigee). Basically, earth, moon and sun are all in a line, with moon in its nearest approach to earth.

Have you been feeling ready to cleanse or purge since before the holiday season? It could be due to the energy of the eclipse since many people intuitively are tuning in to this potent energy for up to 90 days’ prior. For some, this enhanced energy can feel wonky to the nervous system; if so, you can transmute it into creative power.

Lunar eclipses occur only during a Full Moon when the moon passes behind the earth into the earth’s shadow and the moon, sun, and earth are completely aligned. During a lunar eclipse, Earth’s shadow blocks the sun’s light, which otherwise reflects off the moon. A Lunar eclipse can last for hours whereas a solar eclipse is usually completed within moments.

There are three types of eclipses, total, partial and penumbral — with the most dramatic being a total lunar eclipse, in which Earth’s shadow completely covers the moon.

“The moon had been observing the earth close-up longer than anyone. It must have witnessed all of the phenomena occurring – and all of the acts carried out – on this earth. But the moon remained silent; it told no stories. All it did was embrace the heavy past with a cool, measured detachment. On the moon there was neither air nor wind. Its vacuum was perfect for preserving memories unscathed. No one could unlock the heart of the moon.”

~Haruki Murakami

A total eclipse is believed to energetically have an effect on us anywhere from the next 6 months up to a full year. The type of impact you receive is determined by your personal sign in your astrology chart.

Since this is a lunar eclipse, we focus on release, letting go, and witnessing our manifestations. What are you really ready to release? It is in your favor to choose something BIG because we are dealing with BIG energy and support during this time.

Blue Moon + Total Lunar Eclipse + Super Moon = Potent Spiritual Transformation … if you are open and willing to receive it. Consider it a complete reset of the subconscious mind, a beautiful opportunity to start over in harmony with the desire of your individual soul calling.

Eclipses stir things up, and the things that surface from this are usually out of harmony with your intentions, desires, or goals. This provides an opportunity for you to shift, heal, cleanse, clear, and learn from them.

Tip for this Lunar Eclipse:

  • Eclipses are not the best times for making important decisions, like Mercury retrograde, it is a time to reflect, let go, and clear out … not necessarily to start something brand new.
  • Ask your spirit for guidance or assistance. There is a gift in this for you, consider asking the following: where are you ready to develop spiritually? What is ready for healing? How can you awaken to the intuitive, emotional, and deep feeling part of you?
  • This is a wonderful time to discover, access, and align with your true power.

You have a magical & mystical gateway of opportunity available during this Lunar Eclipse. Harness the energy it contains to help you heal in an area of your life where you may have struggled, or even felt was a lost cause, all is possible, and this is the time to believe and watch the magic unfold.

Consider the doorway into your subconscious mind wide open; ready to be reprogrammed by you. This eclipse can provide insight into how you may respond emotionally to life for a six month to one-year period of time following the eclipse.

This mystical portal of lunar energy has enormous blessings to bestow upon you, prepare to receive them, with open arms, and open heart. It can also direct you into deep pockets of memory, ancient insights, and healing within your subconscious mind.  Let yourself wander freely into the experience; you will be pleasantly surprised with the gems spirit has hidden in this cosmic pilgrimage.

Making Peace with Yourself – The Gift of February’s 2 Vibration

All of 2018 we are immersed in the 2 vibration of Relationships, Cooperation, Collaboration, Teamwork and Partnerships, which means February is doubling down on that delightful 2 vibration, nudging you to pay attention in the relationship department.

This month (and all year long) it is essential to make time to focus on your relationship with you.

Why is this so important? Because your outer world reflects your inner world.

Create more peace, harmony, balance, acceptance and appreciation of yourself. Love and value who you are … even a teensy bit more. All these are positive components of your inner world. They raise your vibration and ripple out into your life. As a result, you receive more of those positive vibes reflected back to you in the outer world.

Of course, the opposite is also true. The more conflict, impatience, judgment, irritation, frustration, and resistance you have inside of you (whether it is directed at you or others or both), the more others mirror that denser vibration back to you. Crappy feelings beget more crappy feelings. Ugh.

February is a 2 vibration in Numerology. The essence of the 2 vibration is about relationships … with people, places and things.

And since 2018 is a 2 vibration year, the energy this month is there to help you create a better relationship with yourself and learn how to make yourself and your needs a priority. This is not selfish! It is essential self-care!

Make YOU a priority in your life. Check in with yourself each day:

“How do I feel?”

“What (emotions/feelings) am I feeling right now?”

“How does my body feel?”

“What do I need (physically, emotionally, and spiritually)?”

“What do I want?”

“What would make me feel lighter, happier or more centered today?”

Then acknowledge how you feel. Sit with it. BE with it. Let it move through you.

If you can give yourself whatever you need or want each day, do it! If it requires assistance or support from someone else, ask … and be willing to receive!

Along with Relationships, the other major themes this month and 2018 are: Duality, Cooperation, Collaboration, Balance, Peace and Patience!

If you’d like a refresher on the energy of 2018, you can read about it here: http://sunnydawnjohnston.com/blog/2018-numerology-forecast-a-deep-dive-into-relationships-the-gift-of-the-11-2-vibration/

The Angels tell me that the primary aspect of relationship-energy this month deals with making peace with who you are and where you are.

The more you can become comfortable in your own skin, the lighter you will feel and your relationships with others will begin to shift in more supportive ways.

So what do I mean by Making Peace with yourself?

Well, for starters, being able to look at yourself in a mirror without making a funny face or throwing a snarky judgement at your image … either silently or out loud … is a good step in being more at peace with yourself.

Generally, making peace with you involves taking a good look at your feelings, emotions, actions, thoughts, beliefs, body image, health, personal power, judgments, conditioning, old wounds, and interactions with others.

It might include other things such as your work, career, and creative expression.  Honesty, self-awareness, forgiveness, acceptance and a willingness to change are vital ingredients too.

Making Peace with yourself is about accepting who you are and letting go of the judgments and negative beliefs you might be holding onto about yourself.

This means accepting that you really do feel denser emotions such as anger, resentment, fear, shame, blame, and maybe even rage, but that you stuffed them because it didn’t feel good or safe. And maybe you were taught that expressing heavy emotions was unacceptable.

Coming to peace with those feelings, means acknowledging them, owning them, and moving through them in healthy and supportive ways. The first step is acknowledging them with no judgment. Feelings are what they are, no right or wrong, good or bad. Your feelings are valid because it is how you felt about the specific issues and situations in your life as they were happening to you.

Also look at where you are still holding yourself hostage to something you did (or didn’t do) or something you said (or didn’t say) in your past.

What actions, habits and behaviors are you still beating yourself up over? Make peace with them. Understand you did what you did for a reason. You did it. Accept that as fact and begin to shift it, heal it, and remove the stigma from it.

Release the judgment and punishment you are inflicting on yourself. Call a truce and make peace with these things and the version of you that did them. It was all part of your journey in becoming who you are. See it as a growth opportunity; part of your spiritual evolution.

Remember, acceptance of a challenging person or situation does not mean approval of whatever happened and how it made you feel. It just brings the situation to a place where it can be healed. Unless you accept something instead of resisting it or wanting it to be something other than what it is, you cannot access the truth of it and move through it. You hold the energy of it alive within you as if it is still happening.

It’s like constantly ripping the scab off a wound to look at the injury and focus on the rawness of the wound and the pain it caused you, instead of letting it heal.

Sometimes we do things like this because we want the person who hurt us to apologize or admit wrong-doing to make us feel better. And that works, um, never!

It’s a form of self-punishment. And as if that’s not enough, you heap self-blame and judgements into the pile of shit you’re holding onto.

So I invite you to experiment with accepting the pile of shit, acknowledging that it is there, it happened, and it made you feel certain things.

Breathe into it. Be willing to let go of these things. You can ask Angels for help with this. Or seek out a trusted healer to assist you.

I often call on Archangel Zadkiel and the Violet Flame to help me transmute the denser energies. Then I call on Archangel Chamuel to replace all that gunky energy with the beautiful pink light of unconditional love.

In fact, I invite you to work with both of these powerful Archangels all year long to build up a more loving, supportive and compassionate relationship with yourself.

YOU are the only person who can give you the love, approval and validation you seek, so stop looking to others to fill you up or trying to be nice so people will like you.

The more you like and accept yourself, the more you attract people to you who like and accept you. The happier you are with you, the happier your relationships are. The more at peace you are with yourself, the less you get triggered and knocked off balance by other people’s drama.

“Ask for peace first, and you will clearly see your next step.” ~Alan Cohen

I invite you to start a new tradition this February … be your own Valentine on Valentine’s Day. Give yourself a card, flowers, or special treat … or simply do something special for you.

With love, peace, acceptance and appreciation for you,

Karen

Your Body Is a Freaking Miracle: Loving How It Works (Instead of JUST How It Looks)

You might’ve heard it said that your body is the most amazing thing you will ever own. Your body is a miracle, a wonderland, a brilliant machine. I’m sure you’ve heard all the catchphrases.

But let me ask you this: do you believe it? Have you ever taken to heart all of the ways that your body shows up for you without your having to lift a finger?

Think of all the things that your body can do. Your heart keeps beating right on cue. Your lungs keep breathing without needing reminders. Your cells keep regenerating themselves without your help. This means that you have an entirely new set of taste buds every ten days, new fingernails every 6-10 months, new bones every ten years, and even a new heart every 20 years.

It’s performing incredible feats of endurance and protection at every moment of every day. And it never takes a single moment off … that in itself is nothing short of astounding.

But so frequently, all we focus on is that our body is beginning to creak. It’s getting fat. It’s not fast enough, strong enough, or pretty enough to make us happy. We focus on scars and call them ugly. We see a number on the scale, and if we don’t like it, we blame our bodies.

Hardly seems fair, does it?

Whether you appreciate it or not, your body is taking care of you. It’s keeping everything going so that your Spirit can experience this life in the physical world. Too bad that more often than not, we choose to focus on whether or not we look hot in a bikini instead of acknowledging that our heart is still beating vigorously.

The bottom line is that we focus a lot more on the physicality of our bodies rather than the functionality of our bodies.

Think about it. Every time you complain about not being a perfect size whatever, you negate the miracles that your body performs in every single moment. You bring the energy of criticism and guilt into your body, closing the door behind it, and trap it inside.

Eventually, it manifests in your body as pain, illness, or chronic disease.

What if you decided to stop telling the story of disease, fatness, or ugliness? What if you stopped dwelling on the things that don’t look the way that you want them to, and started celebrating the things that function like clockwork?

Think of it this way: if your thoughts dictate how your body creates itself, how amazing would it be to build it with ideas of love, appreciation, and support? How would that change your physical experience, and what wonders would that work for your Mind, Body, and Spirit connection?

What if you could continue to rebuild your body based on this new blueprint? If your cells can physically create a new heart every 20 years, how much more amazing would that heart be if was built with the energy of gratitude?

My personal experience with changing focus has been a long road. Most of my life I was one big walking mass of body issues. It didn’t look the way I thought it should. My body was not showing up the way I wanted it to, and I was not feeling remotely grateful for anything it was doing.

Eventually, though, I started paying attention to the nudges I was getting from my Spirit. It was trying to tell me that I had the story a little bit backward.

I was obsessing about how my body looked. But what would happen if I took even a few minutes to appreciate how well my body worked?

I figured I might as well give it a try. Seriously, nothing else I was doing was working, so why not?

I appreciated my brain because I could think and remember. I thanked my eyes for allowing me to take in all the beauty in the world. I thanked my heart for continuing to beat and my lungs for bringing me all the oxygen I needed.

Then something interesting happened. The more grateful I was that my body functioned properly, the less I worried about how my belly, my chest, or my thighs looked.

Now, I’m not saying that I magically transformed my attitude in one fell swoop. But over time and with consistent practice, my thoughts changed. My feelings changed. And I started to see my body for the miracle that it was.

Your body is an absolute phenomenon. It keeps on keeping on whether it has your support or not. Just imagine what it could do for you if you decided to be on its side ALL the time! Imagine how it could support you if you nourished it physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually every single day.

You’d be more than a miracle – you’d be a miracle on high-vibe steroids.

How do you start appreciating how well your body works for you? Just get started. Take a look at the body part that you like the least right now. Whether it’s something that gives you a gut-punch to look at or something that just makes you say, “Yeah, that could use some work.”

Look at it. Be honest with yourself about how you feel about it (without any judgment for how you feel), and then ask yourself how that same body part serves you. (Because I can guarantee that it does something for you!)

One step at a time, one body part at a time. Give your body credit for what it does for you every day without fail. The more you look at what is working, the more you will see.

What would happen if you could love and appreciate your body EVERY day? What if you could drop the guilt, shame, and criticism and recognize your body as the MIRACLE that it is? Give yourself that gift this New Year. Revive your body and change your life!

January – Start Fresh – The Gift of the 1 Vibration

Happy New Year to You!  It’s a New Year and New Energy to play with too. Woo-hoo! Welcome to January 2018. My heartfelt desire is that this is a kinder and gentler year for everyone! Let’s hold that intention.

Even though we are stepping into a new year and a different vibrational energy (2018 is the 2 vibration in case you’re wondering), in many ways January may still feel like a continuation of 2017. That’s because both January and 2017 vibrate with the energy of the Number 1.

The 1 vibration is about: New Beginnings, Fresh Starts, New Growth, New Direction, Individuality, Self-focus, Self-actualization, Independence, Leadership, Creativity, Ideas, Inventions, Innovation, Organization, Possibilities, Opening, Expansion and Initiation.

Even though they are both 1 vibrations, energetically the themes are different.

The primary theme of 2017’s 1 vibration was getting clear (or clearer) about who you are and what you want in life … and planting seeds for the next 9 years.

We started a new 9-year cycle in 2017 and the over-arching theme of that 9-year cycle is geared toward self-actualization and self-mastery. Each year will contribute another layer of this process.

The main theme for this January’s 1 vibration is a Fresh Start. It’s a great time to start or explore something new … new beginning, new direction, new growth.  Is that a cheer I hear?!

December was a slow-down period because of our friendly communications planet Mercury was either in Retrograde, or in the Shadow-of-the-Retrograde, for the entire month. This was an odd one too. There were delays, miscommunications, and weird snafus, especially in electronics gear. Almost each day held a new tech surprise for me, and plans were slip-sliding all over the place in my world. How was it for you?

All of December fell into a Start-Nothing-New zone, which was part of the plan for you to regroup and relax and recalibrate … and nurture the heck outta your beautiful self. It was a challenging year for so many. TLC and R&R are actual requirements for your well-being, not luxuries.

As we step into January, we are given the green light, full speed ahead.

Now the path has opened up again for you to connect with new ideas, new creations, and start anew … a chance for a Do-Over!

What do you want to create? The energy is ripe for Starting Fresh (or starting over) and a brand new beginning. Use it wisely.

A happy note: the energy this January doesn’t feel as intense as last January. That’s because of the softening effect of 2018’s 2 vibration. Last January you dealt with a double 1 (January + 2017). This January the 1 is dancing with the 2 of collaboration, relationships and balance.

Last year’s energy was helping you to get in touch with a truer, more authentic version of you. It was also teaching you how to choose you and show up for yourself.

This year, 2018 will help you to maintain who you are while in relationship with others: family, friends, co-workers, clients, colleagues, animal companions, your work, your art, and so on.

Why is this important? Well, if you are anything like I was for a big chunk of my life, you might have a tendency to merge with people and morph into what you think they want you to be in order for you to be loved. If you have a tendency like this, 2018 will help you become aware of it so you can make different, healthier and wiser choices.

2018 is a very special 2 vibration year because the Master Number 11 is riding shotgun all year.

The 11 vibration is known as the Visionary Teacher. You can read more about what this means and how it might show up in my blog post overview of 2018: A Deep Dive into Relationships.

This January is the perfect time for you to get more clarity around what it is you want and then start putting a plan in place to achieve this.

If you’re a creative of any flavor, this month can be positively magical for you. You see, in addition to the creativity, ideas and innovation that the 1 brings to the table, the Master Number doubles down on that creativity.

And, yeah, there is a Shadow …

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the shadow aspects of the Number 1 and how it might show up this month:

  • hypersensitivity, feeling closed-off or shut down (the 2 vibration of 2018 feeds this one too, just be aware!)
  • stubbornness, selfishness, self-importance
  • bossy, demanding, egotistical, arrogant and aggressive

If you are willing to question and explore it, the Shadow yields a powerful teaching message about what is really going on inside of you. It can show you where you feel out of control, fearful, disconnected, and disempowered in some way … and why. It allows you to see more clearly so you can choose differently.

Find some small, easy way to show yourself some love, compassion or TLC. Be gentle with yourself and kind to those around you. Everyone is dealing with something, and many are stress to the max.

Let’s Go On A Journey Within …

My guidance this month said to offer you some potent questions to play with, poke at and open yourself up to the insights and potential healing they can inspire.

I suggest copying down this list, or copy and pasting it into a document you can edit, or printing this page off so you have them easily available as Journal Prompts. Then make some time to step through them.

I suggest picking the ones that speak or call to you in some ways, AND the ones that terrify you, make you clench up, choke your Throat Chakra, or make you want to grab a cookie or chocolate … STAT!

Those are the ones that will really help you shift stuff that’s getting in the way of you fulling embracing who you are and what you desire. It will also give you insight and awareness to heal old wounds, misguided beliefs, outdated programming and raise your energy up.

And, no, you do not have to do this all in one sitting! Take your time. Maybe do 2 or 3 a day. OK? Go as deep as you can. No surface skimming here. You know that ain’t gonna help ya! You can go back and add more too. I find other things bubble up to the surface a day or so later.

So get a pen and journal or pad, or the electronic writing device of your choice and dive in! Ready Set Go:

  • Who are you … really?
  • What does being your “authentic self” mean to you? What does it look like or feel like?
  • What gets in the way of you being your authentic self?
  • How can you shift that?
  • Who do you want to be?
  • What small steps can you start taking to help you to become this?
  • What do you need to stop doing to become this?
  • What do you want to do? Why?
  • What is stopping you or blocking you from doing this?
  • What fear or beliefs are getting in the way?
  • What creative energy wants to be expressed through you?
  • What do you want to create? Why?
  • What’s getting in the way of you creating or expressing your creative essence?
  • What can you do to change this?
  • What do you want to start?
  • What new possibilities are opening up for you?
  • What new possibilities would you like to explore?
  • What do you want to invent, innovate or initiate?
  • What ideas have you been playing with?
  • How can you better organize your life?
  • What improvement, ideas or innovations would help your life run more smoothly for you?
  • Where do you want to express more of your individuality, your uniqueness?
  • What are you trying to control? Why?
  • Where are you being stubborn?
  • Where are you limiting yourself?
  • How do you limit yourself?
  • Where are you being demanding (of yourself and others)?
  • What do you want this year to be like for you?
  • What word best captures your dream or vision for the year?

This month, focus on what you wish to create … for now, for the month, for the year, for you, for your life. And be more of you … bring more of you into everything you do. Give yourself permission to BE You and Shine!

Happy New Year and Blessings Galore!

I always love the energy of the full moon … well … almost always. Sometime it gets a bit intense, which is why I ask people that tune into moon energy to let me know, in advance, what to be mindful of. I’m one of those types of people that would rather have awareness ahead of time , than not … so … Here is some great info for this month’s FULL MOON by Melissa Corter – Enjoy – SDJ

January 1st Full Moon in Cancer & January 31st Lunar Eclipse in Leo

January 2018 marks a few special events … starting off with a Full Moon on New Year’s Day, a wonderful way to begin a brand New Year! Then on January 31st, we have a second Full Moon, a total lunar eclipse, and because it is the second Full Moon for the month of January, it is also a Blue Moon. An interesting start to the year. January’s Blue Moon makes it so February 2018 is the only month not to have a Full Moon at all!

The first Full Moon is in the sign of Cancer. This moon can help you gain perspective on emotional needs and channel this awareness deep down into your roots. This moon is about home, family, and matters near to the heart. You will feel called into nurturing your spirit and finding new ways to honor the mind and emotions.

This Full Moon is about listening to intuition above and beyond reaction, sifting through the emotional clutter to cut to the truth, and to love the messiness of it all. Loving your shadow as much as you love your light, this naturally shifts the energy and release the weight of the past. This moon deeply supports your emotional journey, bringing things to light for healing, releasing so your 2018 dreams and hopes have space to blossom.

The second Full Moon, is a total eclipse in the sign of Leo, shifting gears, bringing the internal energy of the Full Moon on Januray 1st out into the world. You may feel called into service outside of your home or comfort zone.

This second moon in Leo has powerful amplified benefits for clearing the releasing. All eclipses are like hitting the reset button on limiting beliefs and subconscious patterns. Be mindful of the ego, sometimes it gets a little jealous with the Leo energy and competes for attention and the spotlight. The energy created within an eclipse can be felt up to six months after. Use this to plant seeds of hope, peace, healing and abundance for yourself and others.

Full Wolf Moon: January- This Full Moon appeared when wolves howled in hunger outside the villages. It is also known as the Old Moon. To some Native American tribes, this was the Snow Moon, but most applied that name to the next full moon in February.  (Farmer’s Almanac)

Full Moon Self Care for January:

  • Physical- Move your body to help bring in heat during the winter season. Movement also helps process emotion, and stored energy within the body.
  • Emotional- Full Moons & especially eclipses can rattle a calm mind. Practice deep breathing while honoring all emotions and feelings. If it does not feel good, ask “why”? Allow yourself to feel it to heal it and release it.
  • Spiritually- Go inward … this is the season of inner work, self-reflection, and deep listening. It is a time to seek your inner light, to hone it, listen to it, and discover your Spirit’s wisdom.

“Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.”

~Roy T. Bennett

Tips for The January 2018 Cancer Full Moon:

January has its own natural energy of excitement around the New Year. Take an emotional inventory of all you wish to create for the upcoming year. Remember to leave room for Spirit, allow the energy to move through you, without control and at the same time holding a disciplined focus and intent. This is a time to move inside, into the heart, into the soul … let the light consume you, in positive ways. Get lost in the glory of your own light, and then when spring returns, you will shine it out for the world to see.

Let your Spirit guide you, it does not become dark at night for you to fret or fear; it is to help you acclimate to the natural rhythm of nature and your body. In turn, as you move with this rhythm, you will receive nurturing, support, and your needs will be met. Creating space within you for Spirit, allows the Divine to provide evidence of your dreams, hopes, and prayers to arrive.

Ways You Can Connect to This Full Moon:

  1. Find out when the moon rise is in your city by going here: http://www.timeanddate.com/moon/
  2. Find a place where you can see, or sense the energy of the full moon. Preferably a comfortable position with the moon in sight.
  3. Reflect upon a blessing or gift you experienced in 2017. Take 5 to 10 deep breaths as you feel a sense of gratitude expanding from within.
  4. Tune in to it more … go deeper into the feeling of it all.
  5. Let yourself receive the energy of the blessings once again.
  6. Now with your next breath say thank you … and I am also grateful for the countless other gifts and blessings I am now to receive in 2018.

**Reminder: each Full Moon will impact you for up to 3 days prior to the Full Moon and 3 days after the Full Moon.

Full moons are always powerful times for releasing and letting go. Try creating your own ceremony or honoring of this time to embrace the energy that this time has to help you create space in your life for what you truly desire. As always remember, you are not alone in experiencing this phase, be mindful of this when encountering others over these next few days. Send them love as they are also shining a light on themselves and may be extra sensitive during this time. The next Full Moon is not until March 1st! In 2018 February does not contain a Full Moon.

New Year, New You? How About A REVIVAL Instead?

That time of year is almost here. In a few short weeks, the world will be joining a gym, starting a diet, and setting mind-boggling self-improvement goals.

“This year I’m gonna lose 30 pounds and get in shape.” Or maybe something like, “This is the year I’m going to fit into those old jeans.”

Pretty soon we’ll be bombarded with advertisements to join everything from Gold’s Gym to Jenny Craig. And all those New Year’s Resolutions? The same old, same old plans to make this year THE year that you finally get the body you’ve always wanted?

Kind of exhausting, isn’t it?

If you’re anything most people, you might’ve made a promise or two like that about 364 days ago. Are you where you want to be now?

If you said, “NO,” you’re in GOOD company. No shame there.

Maybe it’s time for real change. Not just the usual New Year’s weight loss fitness and weight loss “rah-rah.” Those promises that you make to yourself that fall by the wayside before Super Bowl Sunday? Yep, we’ve all made them before. And broken them.

I know that you want more for yourself this year.

Instead of just another diet or another gym membership, how about something different this year? Instead of forcing your body to change, why don’t you REVIVE it instead?

Let me introduce Body Revival.

Body Revival is not your average “get your body back” or “shape up for the New Year” program.

It’s a movement.

Body Revival isn’t about getting the scale to spit out the number you think will validate your existence. It’s not about squeezing into the pants size that’ll solve your inner pain, either.

I’m not going to tell you what to eat, nor am I going to teach you the most badass fitness routine. (Honestly, I’ve never been a gym rat, so you probably don’t want me planning your workouts!)

Body Revival is about more than changing your outer image. It’s about taking your power back. Pulling in your Soul and bringing you back to yourself. Retrieving your energy from the people, choices, and experiences that might’ve drawn it away from you.

We’re talking about getting your inner being back. Making sure that the beliefs, thoughts, and bullshit you might’ve gathered over the years relinquishes its power over you. It’s about taking your power back from a conscious and present place.

A beautiful and healthy body is not just about what you eat or how you work out. It’s about loving your body as if it were your best friend. It’s about committing to your own self-love and meaning it this time.

It’s not just about your body, either. You need to align your body, your mind, AND your spirit. Do this with love and your whole life can change. And in a way that actually LASTS.

THAT is what I mean by “Body Revival.”

This Body Revival journey … I’ve lived it. I didn’t go to school to learn about it. It didn’t just read about it in a book and then share it. It’s a journey I’ve walked personally, and it’s been going on for over 30 years now.

And let me tell you, it hasn’t always been pretty. In fact, it’s been a battle.

Trust me. I get it. I’ve had disease. I’ve healed disease. I’ve had weight issues, and I’ve healed them, too. I’ve been through the eating disorders, the body shame, the bullshit stories and the ugliness. I could recall that pain in a heartbeat if I had to.

But you know what I feel now when I communicate with my body? Gratitude.

Now I feel such gratitude for this amazing body. I have so much appreciation for the journey that I’ve taken, no matter how scathing it has been. I’ve learned, grown, and expanded. And now I have the privilege of sharing that journey with you.

I’m not gonna lie. Some of what we cover in this program will stretch you way beyond your comfort zone. It might make you feel uncomfortable. There might even be considerable pain. But I can promise you one thing: releasing the pain that is keeping you stuck hurts a lot less than holding onto it, in the long run.

Are you ready to go on the journey with me from wherever you are right now to genuine, loving, full appreciation of your body? Because believe it or not, my friend, your body is the perfect vehicle for your Spirit in this lifetime. That’s why you chose it. And your body can be your best friend … if you’re willing to be a best friend back.

Once you re-engage your body with your mind and spirit, miracles start happening. When you treat your body with love, kindness, and appreciation, it’ll respond in ways that will blow your mind. That I can personally attest to.

Now, I’m not a doctor. I am not a nutritionist or a physical therapist. I’m not a personal trainer, nor do I have a college degree. I’m not here to give you scientifically proven information. If that’s what you’re looking for, there are plenty of options out there.

But what I AM here to offer you is true, honest-to-God LIFE experience. Twenty years of working with other people. Thirty plus years of slogging through my own body issues, body shaming, bouts with disease, and weight issues. Not to mention finding body acceptance, body joy, and body love in the process.

So, if you’re interested in hearing a new spin on an old topic, Body Revival is for you. If you’re ready to have massive expansions in your awareness, your insight, and your mindset, stay with me. If you’re prepared to make new choices, commit to your own self-care, and finally start LOVING the skin that you’re in, then your timing is perfect.

Throw out the scale. Ditch the diet. And get ready for real, loving, LASTING change.

Are you ready?

I have two different programs starting in January – check them both out!

I always love an overview of what the energy of the coming year looks like. Karen has put together an overview of 2018, which looks to be a year of growth for us all. I love to grow, don’t you? Take some time to really read through this … it may just help you get focused too. – SDJ

2018: A Deep Dive into Relationships – The Gift of the 11/2 Vibration

Teamwork, Cooperation, and Collaboration, Oh My!

Balance, Duality, and Patience, OMG!

Yeah, buckle your seat-belts dear souls; we’re going in deep this year.

Why you ask? Because we jump from the 1 vibration of 2017 into the 2-vibration of 2018. Not just any ol’ 2 either… this one has the 11 “Visionary Teacher Master Number” riding shotgun and contributing additional assistance in the background to liven things up!

In 2017, the “new beginning” 1 vibration also kicked off a new 9-year cycle (2017 – 2025). It was time to start claiming you, choosing you, and begin shedding all the “not you” bits. On a larger scale, the year was about planting seeds to create a better 9-year cycle than the previous one (2008-2016). We evolve in a spiral path, each cycle building on the previous one. Here’s the thing though, to innovate and build something new, you gotta tear down and destroy the old for the new creation to be stable and sustainable.

A lot of wonderful things sprang up in 2017. And a lot of Shadow Elements ran rampant, creating havoc and drama. We saw this play out on the world stage and home front.

If you were working through your own shadow elements, you may have had less turmoil in your outer world than those who steadfastly refuse to look within.

Yes, it is all and always an inside job. Inner world gets reflected by outer world.

Not saying any of this is easy, by no means! Just saying it is necessary. And it may require help when the going gets too rough to handle on your own.

So, what has last year’s craziness have to do with this bright and shiny new year? EVERYTHING!

If you haven’t decided yet what you want … or come any closer to understanding who you are, this year will be helping you choose who you are and what you want through your relationships. Yeah. (Shudder)

If you have decided (even sorta decided) what you want and who you are (and who you are not or no longer willing to act like), 2018 will help you get clearer and refine these things … again, through your relationships.

If you are really clear on who you are and what you want, 2018 will help you develop a better relationship with yourself so you can walk your path with more ease and grace. It might bring you wonderful opportunities to collaborate and build stronger support networks and communities. It will help you maintain your boundaries with others, instead of falling into people-pleasing and keeping the peace at all costs by compromising yourself.

Traditionally, a 2-vibration year is a more laid-back year than the 1 vibe year. In a 2 year, you can usually expect to see and receive some of the results from the seeds you planted and doors that you opened in the previous year (in this case, 2017). Some things will naturally take longer to bear fruit, and even so, you can still see some results of your efforts.

However, we have moved out of the Traditional into the Transitional.

While you may indeed be reaping rewards, and seeing results this year, it is not a chillax year by any means. To really ace this year you must, must, must find a way to establish your own sense of balance and peace.

My guides tell me we shifted trajectory (right on schedule) in 2012. We are still in the process of creating a new normal on planet Earth. This will take a while. The old ways aren’t working well, and some are cracking at the foundations. Sands are shifting, sometimes daily. Because it is a transitional time period … the old making way for the new.

The old guard is not peacefully relinquishing control. Even so, we are being asked to anchor more and more light into the world. And one powerful way to do this is by developing a fantastic relationship with yourself, honor yourself, integrate your shadow and shine your light from a place of inner peace and balance.

Easy?

Hell no! It isn’t easy. It is necessary.

Self-love, self-appreciation, and self-acceptance calm the angry beast and feed the light.

Self-deprecation, self-judgement, self-sacrifice and martyrdom feed the angry beast and the dark.

Fear of any kind feeds the anger, hostility and the darkness.

Love is the antidote.

And love, real love, begins with you learning how to love yourself … and reconnecting to your true essence which is love. The more you are able to love yourself, the more love you are able to hold in your field and radiate out to others.

You begin to move into Love as a vibratory frequency. Love as a state of being. Instead of love as an emotion or love as a thought construct. And each itty-bitty step you take in this direction produces results on a quantum scale. A little goes a long way.

One way to start is by being nicer to you. Say kinder things to yourself. Show yourself compassion instead of beating yourself up. Do things that make you happy or feel good.

When you shift the relationship you have with yourself to one that is even slightly better and more supportive of you, you begin to shift all the relationships in your life in a positive way.

In addition to relationships of every kind, here are the other major energetic themes the 2-vibration mixed with the 11-vibration will be immersing us in for all of 2018:

Courtesy of the Number 2: Duality, Cooperation, Collaboration, Balance

Duality and its kissing cousin Polarity

  • Duality is two sides to everything, different perspectives and points of view; Duality is fundamentally inclusive – “This AND That” – and expansive
  • Polarity is opposites, like good/bad, right/wrong, up/down, black/white, North/South; Polarity is fundamentally exclusive – “This OR That” – and limiting
  • Recognize when you are being triggered and polarized you are constricting your energy flow and limiting your options. What if there was no absolute good or bad, right or wrong? What if it is simply a point of view, a perspective, a conditioned response based on a belief and not truth?
  • Additional Bonus … both of these helps you learn about Balance and Cooperation from a different perspective

Cooperation and Collaboration

  • These are two wonderful ways to grow and thrive this year. Contribute to others and be willing to receive ideas, suggestions and assistance from others.
  • There is an African saying that speaks to this quite graphically: Banning together, the ants ate the elephant.
    • What this means is united in cooperation and collaboration even the most daunting and challenging situation may become more manageable … and fun too! And nourishing!

Balance, Peace, Patience

  • These are all interrelated. A major strategy for thriving in any situation is being centered and accepting that your sense of balance and peace comes from within you … not from the outside world.
  • You create your own Balance and Peace. If you don’t know how to do this, find someone who can help you. From this space you can indeed remain calm and peaceful in the eye of the storm.
  • And seriously, develop Patience … with yourself and with others. Breathing is a great way to flip the switch off stress. You really don’t need to do everything … and all at once!
  • When you find yourself getting impatient (especially you drivers!), stop and take 3 or more deep breaths. Choose from this space.
  • You might ask yourself why you feel this way and if it is really your impatience you are feeling. Does it come from someone else? Is it a learned reaction from your childhood?

Additional factors brought to you by the Master Number 11: Creativity, Vision, Integrity, and Confidence

  • Sprinkle these elements into anything you are doing. Let them be foundational in any collaborations, partnerships, and relationships.
  • Invite creativity and vision (intuition, big picture, ultimate dream, inspiration, and hunches) to guide you in seeing possibilities and opportunities.
  • Make decisions and choices that are in integrity with who you are and your values.
  • Have confidence in your work, your decisions, your intuitive guidance. You can fake it till you find it with confidence too, you know. And what makes you think everyone else is rock solid in their own confidence anyway? They may be more like you that you realize!

The Shadow Side of the 2 and 11

For all you empathic, intuitive, sensitive souls, the shadow aspects in play this year may leave you feeling a bit like a peeled grape. You might find yourself feeling oversensitive, and overemotional. You might resort to disconnecting from your true feelings, from others and even yourself.  Seeking to become comfortably numb. I totally get this one!

Forewarned is forearmed.  So, ground, center, and maintain your energy every friggin day! Stop slipping into rescuing, fixing, over-giving, people-pleasing, acting like a doormat, and trying to keep the peace at all costs. You are paying for this with your own well-being.  Ask for help if you need it (and be willing to accept it!). It is ok to choose you and take care of your own well-being. Really, it is!

You may find making decisions is a challenge because there may be too many options and you don’t feel clear about what you really want or need. Or no option feels like it’s the right one, so you get wishy-washy, indecisive, or apathetic. What do you need to do to get clarity? You might need some help with this, and you can also try journaling on any and all options. You can even rate their pros and cons. See what shows up.

Impatience may be a default setting this year.

Become aware of any clingy, co-dependent, superficial behaviors in your relationships and decide to create boundaries or even be willing to walk away.

On a world stage, we might see episodes of anger, self-righteousness, fanaticism, unfairness, injustice, and prejudiced behavior. Again, find your peaceful center to ride out the storm without feeding into the energy from your own fear. If you feel called (in your heart, not your head) to become an advocate of some kind, explore this path.  And please, send love out to the world.

The key things to remember this year

The focus is on relationships … the more you improve your relationship with yourself the better all your relationships become.

Patience and Balance are survival skills.

Collaboration and Cooperation are thrival skills.

Duality expands, and Polarity limits your perspective and possibilities.

Be aware of the shadow affects in play and ground, center, and maintain your energy every friggin day!

Create a year that delights you!

My love and appreciation for you,

Write from the Heart: The Art of Storytelling

“I’m writing a first draft and reminding myself that I’m simply shoveling sand into a box
so I can later build castles.”

~ Shannon Hale

You’ve likely heard the phrase, write from the heart … but what does that truly mean?

Years ago, when I set out to name my business, Write from the Heart LLC came so clearly to me. At the time, I was deeply connected to exploring my life’s purpose, and I had a calling to create programs for aspiring authors to get their voices heard. But not just aspiring authors, anyone with a message to share and a calling to share that message with the world. That was my mission, and I knew in my heart it was, and still is, my life’s work.

What began to happen as I started to uncover my true calling is I began to attract people to me who had a deep-seated desire to share their story through the written word, many of whom didn’t consider themselves writers, yet they felt compelled to share their experiences in an attempt to help others on a similar journey. Our lives are filled with experiences–highs and lows, joys and heartaches, gains and losses. At one point or another, we all encounter things that shake us to our core, test our strength and enlighten us as we come out the other side.

For many, a life rich with lessons and wisdom seems almost selfish to keep to ourselves, and that’s why many of us are called to write, yet this is where the catch-22 comes in for many aspiring authors. They have a story inside them, one that’s calling them to share their message with the world, yet they’re held back by fear, self-doubt and self-sabotaging thoughts. Perhaps they don’t consider themselves trained writers, or they don’t have the first idea how to sit down and write a book.

These are precisely the type of writers that I typically end up drawing to me to work with, to my delight! So, how do I take someone without any technical training as a writer and move them through the process, from idea to publication? With one simple premise…

Write from the heart.

When we connect to our heart-center, that’s when our finest writing emerges. When we share openly and honestly, and allow ourselves to be most vulnerable, we connect our readers to our story. When we can truly open up and share with the intention to serve, heal and inspire our readers with our truth, that’s when the message strengthens and touches our readers on a deeper level.

However, I’ve found there are a few things that typically stop writers from doing this. The ego will almost always try to creep in and stop you in your tracks, so knowing this going into your writing journey will help you recognize the self-sabotaging thoughts as they arise. Almost all writers experience thoughts and feelings of fear and self-doubt along the way, but when you can train yourself to recognize and dismiss these thoughts as they come, you will be able to overcome the roadblocks and obstacles that many writers face. These are the exact obstacles that stop many would-be authors, the very reason there are so many unfinished manuscripts in the world—lost opportunities, as I like to call them.

Don’t let this happen to you. Here are a few tips for connecting to your heart-center while writing your story:

  1. Write for yourself first. The first draft is just you telling yourself the story; getting the content out from inside you and onto the paper (or the computer). First-time authors tend to worry: who will want to read this? Is this any good? Has this all been done before? What will my family think? Those are the exact thoughts you need to recognize and dismiss as quickly as they show up–that’s the pesky ego sneaking in! Write your first draft as openly and freely as possible. Let it all out–the good, the bad, the ugly … the truth.
  2. Let the emotion bubble to the surface and write through it. If you find that it’s too painful to reopen old wounds and relive certain situations, that likely means you’ve yet to process those emotions and you’ve buried them deep inside. The practice of writing itself can be healing and therapeutic, but often that means reliving the experience.
  3. Let it flow. If you find yourself wondering how much you should share, pretend you are writing in your personal journal and let it flow freely. You will have many more drafts of your book before it’s publication-ready. You can always edit out what you don’t want to share later, but for now, write it for you, and write it all. The more content you have to work with, the easier it will be to craft a book from it later. We are not worried so much about structure with the first draft; there will be plenty of time for that in future revisions. For now, compile as much content as you can.
  4. Schedule your self-editing time separately from your writing time. There’s a time for revision, but not during your dedicated writing time. When you edit as you write, you are constantly switching back and forth from the creative side of the brain to the analytical side. This interrupts the flow of creativity and each time you stop it takes approximately 20 minutes of uninterrupted writing to get it back. If you want to have one of those writing sessions where the words seem to pour out of you, place your hand on your heart, connect to your heart-center, and then begin writing freely without stopping to second-guess word choices. Chances are, you’ll look back at your writing later and find you’re impressed by what emerged.

“Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.”
– Barbara Kingsolver

If you have a story inside you or a deep calling to share your message with the world, I’m here to tell you, you don’t have to be a trained writer to write your book. You can always hire editors or writing/author coaches to help improve upon your writing and strengthen your story. In the meantime, I’d be willing to bet if you sit down with the intention to write from the heart and follow the steps I’ve laid out for you here, you’ll find that you that you can write better than expected.

Are you ready to tell your story? Why not give it a try? Find a quiet space; somewhere free of distractions. Place your hand on your heart, close your eyes and set an intention for your writing session. Finally, take a deep breath and allow the heart to lead the way. You may be pleasantly surprised with what you create!
