Here’s a few of my favorites from Courtney and Katie’s engagement session! We photographed around Wrigley with their dog Peanut before heading to the lake to get a few photos with the skyline. I had a blast getting to know them better, and I’m excited to work with them again on their wedding day!

On today’s post, I’ll be sharing a few of my favorites from Maylene and Alex’s Hyatt Lodge wedding day. I wasn’t able to meet these two in-person until the wedding day, but they greeted me as if I was an old friend. There was laughter, joy, and happy tears throughout their celebration, which celebrated both of their cultures. Plus, Alex and his friends performed a breakdance routine at the reception! It’s always a pleasure to work with the talented team at Sweetchic Events, and this event was extra-special because the bride was a sister of lead planner Charlene.

Everything took place at the Hyatt Lodge – the prep, the ceremony, and the reception – which made logistics a breeze. I started with Maylene as she got ready with friends and family.

Alex got ready in a different part of the lodge with his friends and family.

When everyone was ready, Maylene had a first-look with her bridesmaids, and then with Alex.

There had been rain all morning, but it stopped just long enough for us to venture outside for some portraits.

And then we were back inside for the ceremony.

The ballroom was stunning!

During dinner, Alex and his friends performed a breakdance routine, followed by a traditional Korean ceremony.

The last time I saw Sherri and Jon, we were taking engagement photos along the river downtown. We captured the river, the skyline, and the architecture of Chicago’s downtown, and I really enjoyed getting to know them better while we worked together. After the session, I was really looking forward to working with them again on their Kimpton Gray Hotel wedding day. Below are a few of my favorite frames from their day.

I started off my day with Sherri as she got ready with friends and family in her hotel suite.

Jon got ready in his own suite at the Kimpton.

When everyone was dressed and ready to go, Sherri and Jon saw each other for the first time and shared a moment on the elegant staircase inside the hotel.

Afterwards, we jumped on the bus to take some portraits downtown with their wedding party.

With portraits done, it was back to the Kimpton for the ceremony.

It’s finally feeling like spring, but today I’ll be sharing Andrea and Rob’s Ivy Room wedding from last fall because there were so many moments I loved from the day! I had worked with Andrea and Rob at their Fulton Market engagement session last summer and remembered Andrea’s great sense of style. I also remembered that it was uncomfortably hot during their session, but we had already rescheduled twice due to rain so we went ahead anyways. Andrea and Rob were full of so much good energy and we had a great time together in spite of the heat and humidity. Here’s a few of my favorites from the day:

I started off my day with Andrea as she got ready with her friends and family in a suite at the James Hotel.

Andrea had told me about the sleeves on her dress – I couldn’t quite visualize what they would look like, but I absolutely loved them as soon as I saw them!

We made our way to the Ivy Room, and I met up with Rob and the guys as they got ready before the ceremony.

When I first spoke with Simer and Andres about their Nasher Sculpture Center wedding, it was on the phone. Busy schedules kept us from meeting until about a month before their wedding last fall. When I finally met with them over coffee, I knew almost-immediately how well we were going to get along! A brief meeting about wedding logistics turned into a 45 minute conversation, and I couldn’t wait to work with them in Dallas.

Here’s a few of my favorites from the day:

Simer got ready with friends and family at the Sheraton Hotel in Dallas.

Andres got ready in a separate suite with his friends and family.

We traveled separately to the venue, and then Simer and Andres shared a moment together:

After a few portraits in the garden, it was time for the ceremony:

This winter won’t end! So here’s a few favorites from Sarah and Mike’s engagement session on a fall day that felt like summer. We started around their home to get some photos with their dog Meyna. After a quick outfit change, we photographed around the lakefront. Sarah and Mike were fun, goofy, and affectionate, and I can’t wait to work with them again on their wedding day!

Jaime and Dave’s Zhou B Art Center wedding is on the blog today! These two were married at one of the gems of Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, the Zhou B Art Center. There were lots of laughs, smiles, and love followed by an amazing dance party. Here’s the story of their day:

Jaime got ready in her suite at the Intercontinental Hotel with friends and family.

Dave got ready in his own suite at the hotel.

When they were both dressed and ready, Jaime and Dave shared a moment together before we left the hotel.

It was soooo windy! Jaime, Dave, and their wedding party were troopers while we were outside doing portraits, but no one complained when we arrived at the venue to get indoors! :)

One of Jaime and Dave’s favorite spots in the city was the Kinzie Street Bridge, so we made sure to stop for portraits there.

Ceremony time!

Time for the dance party! It was an amazing one, and the dance floor was absolutely packed all night.

Let’s flash back to when flowers were blooming and the sun was shining. Today, I’ll be sharing some of my favorites from Whitney and Ian’s Art Institute of Chicago Modern Wing wedding photos. I was fortunate enough to photograph the wedding of Whitney’s sister Ashley a few years ago (see their Museum of Broadcast Communications wedding photos here!) and was humbled to be able to work with her family again. Whitney was so much fun to work with – relaxed and full of laughter throughout the day. And Ian was laid-back and equally joyful. Even with some of the chaos that inevitably happens on wedding days with so many moving parts, they stayed focused on enjoying each other, their families, and their friends. Below are some of my favorites from the day:

Whitney started her day at the Fairmont Hotel, getting ready with friends and family.

Meanwhile, Ian got ready in a suite of his own:

We took some portraits around downtown Chicago and in the gardens of the Art Institute.

A favorite of Whitney:

The ceremony took place in Griffin Court in the Modern Wing:

Happy new year! The winter blues are starting to creep in, but I’m going to push those away by sharing some of my favorites from Dori and Rick’s Moonlight Studios wedding today! I last saw these two when we did Wicker Park engagement photos in their home and around their neighborhood. I really enjoyed getting to know them better and was very much looking forward to their wedding. Here’s a few images that I think help to tell the story of their day:

Dori got ready in her suite at the Park Hyatt Hotel Chicago.

Dori and Rick chose not to have a wedding party, but they still spent the morning relaxing with lots of friends and family!

When they were both ready, Dori and Rick shared a private moment together.

We headed out to take a few portraits before the ceremony:

And then it was off to Moonlight Studios to get the ceremonies started!

Aileen and Ian’s Herbarium wedding day was a celebration filled with so many big emotions. There was nonstop laughter, huge smiles, and happy tears everywhere you looked. The last time these two were on the blog, it was for their Millenium Park engagement photos. We had some scattered rain showers throughout the day, but Aileen, Ian, and their friends and family didn’t even seem to notice. Here’s a few of my favorites from their day:

Aileen got ready with friends and family at the Wyndham Grand Hotel along the Chicago river.

Ian got ready with friends and family at home.

I really liked the floral prints that Ian incorporated into his shirt and tie.

We had a break in the rain, so we headed outdoors for their first look and a few portraits.

We jumped into an Uber and headed to the Herbarium.
