I posted a ‘meme’ on my Facebook page quite recently around dating and it got so many comments, so this weeks blog post, comes in the form of a poem about dating (in the broadest sense).
So this post once again comes to you from France, thanks to those who wished me well following my last post, I am feeling much better now! We come back to the UK tomorrow and the holiday has been eventful, both my daughter and I have been ill, a table has been broken and as a result damaged my back and also managed to scare a whole town on market day – don’t ask!
Anyhow, as so many of our dating stories are similar, amusing and relatable, so here goes:
The Trials and Tribulations of Dating
So you think yourself a bit of a catch?
Oh wait – what’s this? Another match
Who’s this one? What could they be?
A doctor? A nurse? Or just a Wally?
Slow to reply and quick to judge,
Just too busy or do they need a nudge?
This one’s nice, I like them a lot,
Until I realised, they smoke ‘Da pot!’
This one’s keen, they reply nice and quick,
But I didn’t mean that when I asked for a pic!
This one is quiet and doesn’t say much,
This one drinks and talks double-dutch!
Finding someone is harder than you think,
To meet ‘the one’ and be in sync,
People drift and often ‘ghost’
Usually the ones, you like the most!
Then you have the original ‘breadcrumb’,
That messes you about, feeling numb.
And then of course the ‘Zombie’ too,
A random message, ‘How are you?’
So what about me, the one with a kid?
Get told it’s ok, to then go off the grid!
So having kids is a problem it seems?
But should that stop me finding the one of my dreams?
Of course it isn’t, it’s tricky out there,
Loads in the same boat, with a story to share.
But then you must, YOU MUST protect yourself,
Never just ‘settle’, would rather stay on the shelf.
