Cleobella by Angela O'brien - 2d ago

Wedding season excites me, I think back to 14 years ago when I was just a little girl, in love with a boy and planning my wedding day. It was literally what fairytales are made of, white horse and carriage, no joke! All our favorite humans in our favorite place, Maui.

Planning your “best day ever” is a milestone moment in your life, it’s the celebration of lasting love, the commitment to each-other,for better or for worse, and a new chapter in your life’s journey.

We are honored to collaborate with Show Me Your Mumu to help celebrate your "Best Day Ever” together. We carefully designed each individual bag with this special day in mind and for the many special days to come.

I cherish my marriage and my precious family that has grown over the last few years. Today I’m reminded how far we’ve come,

and the journey that lead us here. Wishing all the brides to be, love and laughter, forever and ever!

Using the slowest of all printing methods, these garments are block printed by hand.  Woodblock printing is a process that uses incised wooden block to print patterns onto textiles, typically cotton, linen, or silk.  It is the earliest, simplest, and slowest method of printing.

Driven by a sense of oneness, connection, and beauty, our vision is to evolve as a global lifestyle brand spirited in travel and founded on ethical manufacturing processes that empower diverse cultures.  Our Mexicana has always encompassed these principals, having been made with the same Balinese artisan, Moch, since the very beginning of Cleobella.   As Cleobella has continued to grow, so has Moch's team as well as their capabilities.  In order to continue to support this ever important part of the Cleobella team, we made the decision last year to dive into another one of their skill sets, shoes, allowing us to bring you Cleobella Slides.

It has brought us great joy to be able to watch these small artisan teams flourish and be able to share their craft with you.  The meaningful relationships we make along the way are just as important to us as our actual products.  We hope by walking in our slides you can feel the love that has been poured into each and every piece we share with you.

Why Natural Fibers?

This collection tells a story.
It is thoughtful and free, handmade with informed choices.
Natural quality made from treasured fibers.
Crafted with love and is a bright light in a material world.

Our talented community of artisans ensure that our designs are handmade with eco-friendly materials that are sustainable. Fashion has a meaningful impact on people and our planet.

Our goal is to spread awareness on how small changes can go a long way when it comes to improving our environment and our lives. Cleobella values quality over quantity and slow fashion that is made to carry with you on your journey.

Invest in yourself and the environment.

Because synthetic fibers are man-made materials composed of chemicals that don’t break down, they are unhealthy for both our planet and bodies. Our skin is the body’s largest organ, which is why treating it well is of the utmost importance. With use of natural fibers in our collection, we can protect our tribe and Mother Earth.

Our not so basic- basics collection is made from the most versatile, breathable, and durable fabrics. Comfortable fibers allow for movement and freedom, to dance on the sand and breath the salty air.

What makes you beautiful?
This is a love story about the women we know and the women we want to know.
The go getters, the humble souls, the women who inspire us to be the best version of ourselves.
The true goddess who is centered in love and joy.
The women to whom you can relate, who find humor in their own flaws, and who tell it to you straight—when no one else will.
A celebration of beautiful women who shine bright from within.
They don't follow the pack, they lead the crowd.
Their beauty is contagious.
They lead with their heart and follow their dreams.
They balance so much, and they do it with grace and beauty.
They are the true definition of Bella.

What does the word "Bella" mean to you?
Beautiful, but in that romantic sort of old Italian way that makes you feel like it goes so much deeper than skin ;).

How were you introduced to Cleobella?
I was introduced to Cleobella through a party! I was invited to by a friend, and I still remember that day. I fell in love with the beauty of the brand, but didn’t know at the time how much more I would love it in the years to come...or that I would someday get to dress my own babies in it.

What are your hopes for your girls?
I hope they feel safe, and loved, and happy. I hope they listen to good music (preferably some that I like so we can go to shows together), read books just for fun, take good care of themselves (and each other), travel the world, and then come back home again to me.

What has been the toughest part about becoming a mom?
Finding balance. It feels overwhelming to find that balance between bring present with the girls, getting work done, and taking care of myself and Blake. But I have to give myself some grace at the end of each day, even if I wish the day would give me a few more hours ;).

What mama essentials can't you live without?
My babies! Kidding…my babies are still so little that sleep is still so important, so I LOVE our white noise machines. They small and portable, so they’ve helped us travel with the babies. We are big on adventuring and traveling with them even while they’re small, so some of the other things that have made that easier are their loveys because they help them self soothe and sleep anywhere, their portable high chairs that make meals anywhere so much easier, and snacks. Always snacks.

What are your keys to happiness?
Always look for that silver lining. Even when something feels hard or sad or awful, find something to be happy or grateful for. It will literally change your life!

What do you dream about for the future?
My best memories come from time spent with family and close friends, usually in the outdoors, traveling or adventuring. So that’s what I hope for more of in the future, for me and for my girls as they grow up.

What has becoming a mama meant to you?
I still haven’t wrapped my head around it, and my babies will be two in just a few months! It’s hard to put into words, but what I always come back to is that I think it’s mostly just my job to love them. And by doing that, I’ll hopefully show them how to love.
Beauty is. . . in all of us ;).

Cleobella’s Flower Press DIY
What you’ll need:
  • 4 frames (one set of 8”x10” and one set of 5”x7”)
  • 2 fire bricks
  • Cotton fabric or paper towel (Keep away from polyester otherwise it could burn)
  • Your beautiful flowers
  • Hot glue

1. Choose the beautiful flowers you’d like arranged in your frame. It can be anything of your choice: big, small, bright or darker!

2. Grab one of the bricks and place the fabric or paper towel on top of it. Then, lay your flowers on top of the fabric.

3. Lay another piece of fabric or paper towel over your flowers.

4. Finish the layering process with adding another brick on top of the second piece of fabric or paper towel.

5. Once you’ve made your brick sandwich, go ahead and throw it into the microwave (not literally, we don’t want to ruin our microwave)! You’ll want to microwave them from 1-3 minutes. If they’re bigger or thicker flowers, they should be left in longer. If they’re white and smaller, it’d be best to microwave them for a minute. But regardless of how long you put them in, you must microwave them for an additional 30 seconds without the top brick.

a. Caution! Don’t press the bricks together afterwards because it’ll break your pretty flowers and we don’t want that to happen!

6. Once the flowers are nice and crisp, you’re going to display them on the glass frames how you like it designed.

7. Take the second glass frame and hot glue it over it.

a. Tip! If you want the flowers to move around within the frame, grab something slim like a phone or a soda pop between the glasses to keep some distance for that movement!

8. Hang your floral frame by the window or wall and enjoy!

XO,

The Bella's
