Week Three Contest Draw

Congratulations Dawn Quigley, winner of the $25 store credit draw for week three entrants.

Survival Contest Draw

Congratulations Darren Beckham, winner of the $25 store credit draw for entrants whose groups survived the full game.

Week Three Friday Crossroads Dilemma: Escape!

The news spread through the town like wildfire.  While in lockup, someone allowed Toby a broken ham radio to play with.  Toby managed to get it going and made contact with a nearby Military Base.  They have a safe perimeter and more than enough provisions for the entire town!

They also have a helicopter, and have offered a pick up.  However, they won’t have room for everybody, worse the noise of the helicopter will bring every zombie in town to the compound.  No one left behind would survive.

The town could evaluate by road, there are enough vehicles for everyone.  But do we have enough fuel? The trip would hazardous enough without having to walk.

Alternatively, the town could wait for a rescue party due to arrive in four weeks.  But do we have enough food for the wait?

A town meeting has been called to decide the best plan of action.

Elected Outcome C: “We should wait for rescue .”

Groups need 1 Food per survivor for 4 weeks (i.e. 16 Food for 4 survivors).  For each week without sufficient Food, Morale drops by 2.

Ending: Rescue

It was a long four weeks, but when the military rolled in everyone agreed the decision to wait had been the right one. Moral had remained good through the ordeal. Some had gone hungry, but no survivor had given up hope.  Despite his transgression Toby became the town hero – even if he did suffer some good-natured ribbing about being eaten when the supplies ran out.

Our Un-Dead of Winter Contest is drawing to a close with one last Friday Dilemma.  This will not affect play for this week’s $25 store credit draw. It will affect those playing for the final $25 store credit draw for surviving the whole Contest.

To be in the final draw you will need a minimum of 1 surviving group member and 1 morale.

Vote for your favourite outcome on our Facebook page.  The one with the most LIKES is decided.

Outcome A:  “Send for the helicopter, at least some of us will survive.”

Survivors with 3 or more Influence are rescued.  All groups lose 2 Moral for each abandoned group member.

Outcome B:  Let’s all make a run for it.”

You will need to fight your way there.  Bullets will need to be spent to keep survivors with low Attack values alive.  Groups with 4 remaining Fuel can drive there – the trip is Zombie Hazard 3. Otherwise, the escape is made on foot –  Zombie Hazard 5.

Outcome C:  “We should wait for rescue .”

Groups need 1 Food per survivor for 4 weeks (i.e. 16 food for 4 survivors).  For each week without sufficient Food, Morale drops by 2.

Winding up Week Two Week Two Contest Draw

Congratulations Michael Hall, winner of the $25 store credit draw for week two entrants.

Week Two Friday Crossroads Dilemma: The Bus

Among the new survivors from the bus is a young man named Toby. He is a likeable joker whose amusing antics have helped raise spirits in these grim times. Today Toby has been caught stealing food from the town supplies – a crime punishable by banishment.  He confessed immediately that it was a prank that went too far. A town meeting has been called to decide Toby’s fate.

Elected Outcome C: “Send him to lockup”

But the compound does not have a good lockup so Toby would need to be guarded. All groups must leave one survivor at base during each expedition this week.  The survivor is on guard duty at that time.

Week Three Starting Play

New to the contest?  Here are the instructions on how to play.  Note that there is a different crisis for this week.

Continuing Play

Guarding Toby.   All groups must leave one survivor at base during each expedition this week.  The locations you already visited remain looted of resources, so you will need to find new ones for this week.  Fortunately there are more rumours to follow:  Week Three Rumours.

Week Three Crisis

A fever has swept the compound, no one has died but it’s making people miserable.   We need to find some medicine soon before morale drops. (Find 4 Medicine)

Outcome A:  “Let him off with a warning”

The act was not malicious and Toby is unlikely to ever do this again.  But such leniency would encourage others though, and the lack of discipline would be bad for morale. All groups lose 1 morale and start the week with -1 Food, this may take your supplies negative.

Outcome B:  “Send him to lockup”

But the compound does not have a good lockup so Toby would need to be guarded. All groups must leave one survivor at base during each expedition this week.  The survivor is on guard duty at that time.

Outcome C:  “The rules say he must be banished”

This would mean almost certain death for Toby.  But it is the rules, so a just but depressing outcome.  All groups lose 2 Morale.

Winding up Week One Week One Contest Draw

Congratulations Darren Beckham, winner of the $25 store credit draw for week one entrants.

Week One Friday Crossroads Dilemma: The Bus

A battered bus pulls up at one of the barricades at the edge of Bitterfalls.  Within are a group of around 50 outsiders. They are nearly out of gas and are seeking refuge.  A meeting is called to discuss what the town will do.

Elected Outcome C: “We should take them in, but we will need more food.”

The outsiders are welcomed into the town.  A joyful outcome (all groups gain 2 Morale), but an expensive one. All groups start the week with -4 Food, this may take your supplies negative.

Week Two Starting Play

New to the contest?  Here are the instructions on how to play.  Note that there is a different crisis for this week.

Continuing Play

There are new mouths to feed.  Remove 4 Food, from your end of week supplies even if it takes your supplies negative.  The locations you visited last remain looted of resources, so you will need to find new ones for this week.  Fortunately there are more rumours to follow: Week Two Rumours

Week Two Crisis

The undead mass at the compound fence, their hungry stares fall like an oppressive weight on all survivors.   A cull needs to be done or morale will drop, but we will need more bullets. (Find 4 Bullets)

Have you been playing our Un-Dead of Winter Contest? I really enjoyed play-testing the game. Of course, initially I didn’t need to search for clues (David gave me all the information). I tried out many groups of survivors and while I didn’t succeed with every group I found the decision making challenging.

In the last group I lost two morale as I saved one fuel for next week’s game and couldn’t quite manage with my group to get enough fuel to complete the challenge. I did end up with extra food for the following week. I also have been saving bullets to make a concentrated foray to Bitterfalls in the next week or two and get well resourced.

Oh, David did get me to work out the locations at the end of the day. I didn’t recognise all the pictures (and I am hopeless at riddles) but I searched all our games and did find them all. Happy gaming!

Outcome A:  “We can’t spare the resources.”

The bus is sent on its way.  No resources are spent, but nobody feels good about it – all groups loose 2 Morale.

Outcome B:  “We can at least give them some fuel.”

The bus refuelled before being sent on its way. Morale is unchanged, but all groups start the week with -2 Fuel, this may take your supplies negative.

Outcome C:  “We should take them in, but we will need more food.”

The outsiders are welcomed into the town.  A joyful outcome (all groups gain 2 Morale), but an expensive one. All groups start the week with -4 Food, this may take your supplies negative.
